Obsessed with how, despite all the different ranges of emotions Phainon has gone through throughout the story, his personal idiolect remains... rather simple. Compared to others whose voices have been directed and fashioned to give the shape of a ‘character’ (which I have nothing against to clarify, this is just for comparison), Phainon sounds more like... a normal guy. Someone you could see yourself bumping into while crossing the street, a classmate or coworker you could see yourself having, or that one voice you hear in a crowd of people that sticks with you a for a bit and eventually fades from your memories. More down to earth, someone you could see actually existing and having a conversation with.
