how do adoptable's work, I've always heard of them but never really understood what buying one did. also i greatly admire your art and hope that you're doing hella well
This is an excellent question, I think for a lot of folks it’s a mystery if it’s something they haven’t directly engaged with before.
An adoptable is basically like a pre-made character design–a blank slate ready for someone to scoop them up and imbue them with a personality and quirks and history and likes and dislikes. Some people use these characters for stories, D&D characters, fursonas, and some just like collecting them and commissioning other artists to create art of them. I think adopts also make the fandom a little more accessible for non-artists to have a nice looking character or artists who are looking for something different for their OC roster.
So basically, an adoptable is a purchasable character design. Once you’ve bought it, the likeness belongs to you according to whatever terms are laid out at purchase. Hope that makes sense!And thank you–I appreciate it!! I’m doing quite well thank you *v* Hope you’re doing well too!
