Colombia is a country located in South America, with a population of almost 45 million people, which has surfer during the last 50 years of an armed violent conflict. This country is characterized by its diversity of landscapes, ideas, and people, but somehow the lack of communication between them. A fact that has, strengthened the armed conflict and inequality in the country.

On the other hand, the habitants of Colombia had started to act in order to achieve the much desired peace. By going to the streets of the diverse cities and make their voice heard (Public pacific Manifestations). We want to reinforce these activities by creating A POSITIVE COMMUNICATION LANDMARK.

We believe that the solution of a social conflict is based on the ability of the human being of communicate, respect, understand and tolerate each other ideas. Our platform gives the society the possibility of expressing their voice in a long-lasting light intervention, which constantly changes according to the “input”. We want to show a Voice that not only wants to be heard but seen; because “the good ones are more (Los Buenos somos mas)”. An intervention that; not only shows ideas of peace, but also culture, thoughts and the spirit of the people.

The project is based on the concept of creating a Landmark as an important piece that must be properly defined, and if so, will become part of the culture and history of the place. This landmark has the objective of communicate the thoughts of millions of people that want to be heard by using platforms like twitter, facebook, instagram etc.

Our server; processes and classifies the different ideas by groups and colors. Then it, assigns the “message” to a circle of color, which drops on the façade of the building. As a constant waterfall of ideas that fill the building.

The user gets to see the animation and also the randomly chosen statistics (Facts) that are zoom out: “Like how many people had Hash tag Family in their message”. Showing that besides all the differences we have a common idea and goal.

The project allows the user to GeoTag the message and counts how many users are sending their messages at the moment. When reached an amount of messages; the animations transforms in a graphic composition made out of colored circles, related to the “trend tag or element”. Afterwards, the animation dissolves and the building is illuminated. Marking the new beginning of the waterfall.

The user gets to modify the interaction, by sending more messages and creating Trend Topics; which will result on a different images and the speed of the intervention.

Our objective is to visually show a VOICE that want to be heard.

We have located our initial intervention in the city of Bogota in the building of Financiera del Valle for diverse reasons:

First of all because; Bogota is the city where hundreds of Colombians move due to the armed conflict (displaced by the violence). This leads to big inequality problems and violence.

Second of all, because the building is located in the center of the city, in a neighborhood suffering of urban Decay.

Finally, because we want with our intervention, to help with the urban renewal of the city, in a point for everyone to be seen and where tolerance messages need to be send. Our Communication Landmark is a prototype that can be used everywhere in the world where communications processes needs to be reinforced.

This prototype can be connected with multiple other landmarks in order to send a Communication message from the World and its people.

In conclusion the Communication Landmark is an opportunity for a different of interaction, display of messages and a helpful tool for the solution of a communication problem.

Our context : Colombia - Bogota DC.

Expectations: To communicate the opinion of the people regarding the social conflict of the country, taking into account the peace conversations.

How ?: By grouping ideas, situations, images, the national feeling, and giving up to date information. By generating a communication landmark. 

Why ?: Based on the need of expressing the positive opinion of the community, that wants a social change.

Where ?: Using the facade of buildings located in conflict areas due to urban degeneration.

When ?: Now!!! Because the change is now.

Who ?: People involved in sending a collective message of tolerance in a community which main problem is the lacking of communication and listen to each other.

Prototype: The communication landmark is expected to be used in Colombia, but its concept can be used in any other place of the world !!!!
