also I learned about this project called “queering the map.” the idea is that in the past gay neighborhoods and gay spaces were very clearly defined bc it just wasn’t safe to be yourself anywhere else. as lgbt+ people become more visible and accepted many feel that we are losing our connection to those spaces
so every dot on this map is basically someone’s queer experience: coming out, meeting their future wife, seeing another gay man in public for the first time, anything you can think of that truly left a mark on them
it started in Montreal and is primarily English-language with most pins dropped in the US, Canada, and Europe, but there are people all over the world who’ve shared their experiences. it’s great to look at places near you but it’s also great to see that even people in places you thought were the middle of nowhere are happy with themselves and finding community and living their lives
It’s here and it’s SO SWEET?? Just clicking around it’s very personal stories, in first person and a lot of them addressed to a specific “you”, and sooo many in extremely poetic language. It feels like an art installation and it’s so beautiful. ;W; Thanks for sharing!!!
… there’s also a lot of really silly ones (like gay sharks in the middle of the ocean)
I looked at Jerusalem and immediately found two favorites for entirely different reasons.
Things I found from the queer community of japan:
It’s no secret to the Japanese that Shinjuku nichome is the gay district of Tokyo but about half the pins left there are for the same club in that area named gold finger. Definitely a place to check out if you’re looking to get involved in the Japanese queer community for whatever reason, it seems.
I have a sneaking suspicion this submission is a haiku when written in Japanese…
This guy got the scenic view I guess
Is this how people feel while reading deep romantic poetry because wow I’m moved.
Honestly the best feeling is learning we’re not as alone as we’ve been led to believe
These are all super poetic oml I appreciate every single one of them
There are none in my town. Guess I’ll be the first
I went to my old, STAUNCHLY conservative town and saw “There are a lot more of us here than most would think, past and present” and I nearly cried
GIVE HIM THE FISH
Looking at it again I like the torn paper in the background suggesting that the cat busted his way into the room
Happy Pride Month Eleanor Roosevelt was queer, the Little Mermaid is a gay love story, James Dean liked men, Emily Dickinson was a lesbian, Nikola Tesla was asexual, Freddie Mercury was bisexual & British Indian, and black trans women pioneered the gay rights movement.
Florence Nightingale was a lesbian, Leonardo da Vinci was gay, Michelangelo too, Jane Austen liked women, Hatshepsut was not cisgender, and Alexander the Great was a power bottom
Honestly just reblogging for that last one
Probably not historically backed but fuck yes
Eleanor Roosevelt wrote love letters to Lorena Hickok
Love letters Hans Christian Anderson wrote to Edvard Collin contain elements that appeared in The Little Mermaid, which he was writing at the same time
Several people who knew James Dean have talked about his relationships with men
Letters and poems allude to a romance between Emily Dickinson and at least two women
Nikola Tesla was adverse to touch. He said he fell in love with one women but never touched her and didn’t want to get married
Freddie Mercury is well known for his attraction to men but was also linked to several women, including Barbara Valentin whom he lived with shortly before he died. Friends have talked about being invited into their bed and walking in on them having sex (documentary Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender)
Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera are two of the best-known activists who fought in the Stonewall riots
Florence Nightingale refused 4 marriage proposals and her letters and memoir suggest a love for women
Leonardo da Vinci never married or fathered children, was once brought up on sodomy charges, and a sketch in one of his notebooks is 2 penises walking toward a hole labeled with the nickname of his apprentice
Condivi said that Michelangelo often spoke exclusively of masculine love
Jane Austin never married and wrote about sharing a bed with women (Jane Austen At Home: A Biography by Lucy Worsley)
Hatshepsut took the male title Pharaoh (instead of Queen Regent) and is depicted in art from the time the same way a male Pharaoh would have been
“Alexander was only defeated once…and that was by Hephaestion’s thighs.” is a 2,000 year old quote
I want to hire you to follow me around and defend my honor with meticulous research
my armenian father getting angry at a squirrel
“you are. stealink…. my nuts…”

If ima keep it buck. I’m tired of white people vacationing in the islands, they come and they just complain about everything, they make fun of our accents, they mock us, only for them to leave with some fucking cornrows in their hair and locally made soap, so that they can go back to their family and comment on how hard life is there and how much money they gave the locals because they felt “sorry for these people”. Fuck off.
Black people aren’t your fucking charity cases that you get use to make yourself feel better when you come back to the west. Because truthfully most of y’all come back still racist as ever even after your so called “cultural experience”, going to black countries complaining about blackness, fuck your knowledge you know nothing.
It grinds my fucking gears that they have the money to experience my culture way more than I do only for them to not appreciate it.
Your week in Trinidad didn’t teach you anything Stephanie, you stayed in resort, where a black woman cleaned your room every day, where a black man maintained and ensured that you had a good time, where black youth travelled hours from their homes to get to work so that you can do some fucking zumba in a pool. And you have the audacity to come back to America and call somebody a nigger, fuck you.
Anyway y’all Puerto Rico is still in shambles don’t forget about them. Don’t forget about anything that still matters outside of whiteness.

These dudes are fucking legit. They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back. And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”
The source is long, but so, so good. These men and women are available in 36 states, 24 hours a day to stand guard at home, in court, at school, even if the child has a nightmare. Many of them are survivors of childhood abuse as well, and know what it’s like to feel scared and alone.
In court that day, the judge asked the boy, “Are you afraid?” No, the boy said.
Pipes says the judge seemed surprised, and asked, “Why not?”
The boy glanced at Pipes and the other bikers sitting in the front row, two more standing on each side of the courtroom door, and told the judge, “Because my friends are scarier than he is.”
Actual tears.. hnngh
Show me more of people like this, world. I give up on humans too easily.
where do i sign up for this,i want to be in this gang
This is fucking amazing. It may be out of character for me to say this but rock on
Bikers Against Child Abuse was founded in 1995 by a Native American child psychologist whose ride name is Chief, when he came across a young boy who had been subjected to extreme abuse and was too afraid to leave his house. He called the boy to reach out to him, but the only thing that seemed to interest the child was Chief’s bike. Soon, some 20 bikers went to the boy’s neighborhood and were able to draw him out of his house for the first time in weeks.
Chief’s thesis was that a child who has been abused by an adult can benefit psychologically from the presence of even more intimidating adults that they know are on their side. “When we tell a child they don’t have to be afraid, they believe us,” Arizona biker Pipes told azcentral.com. “When we tell them we will be there for them, they believe us.” ( Article)
More about BACA, from their site
My parents are a part of this organization and they are metal af
They go on runs to protect the child if they feel even the slightest threatened no matter where. If the child needs them to go on vacation with them, they do. Bikers come from across the nation to watch over and take shifts for these kids. And the best part is once you’re adopted into this family as a BACA kid, you’re always one. Even when you’re 40 and the perp gets released from jail, they’ll come meet with you and find your best options for avoiding the person and maintaining the life you’ve built for yourself. Once a BACA child, always a BACA child. In Florida, there’s 100% rate for identifying the perp based on the child’s testimony. Why? Because BACA stands with the child and supports the child so they feel comfortable enough to point out their attacker.
What’s better than a badass biker gang being on your side???
NATIVE AMERICAN CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST WHO IS A BIKER AND NAMED HIMSELF CHIEF HELL YES I’M HERE FOR THAT AND BIKERS BEING BAD ASS TO PROTECT KIDS. HELL YEAH.
it’s back! I will always reblog BACA
Damn good people.
I know they wouldn’t consider themselves such, but these people are freaking heroes and the world is a better place because of them.
Hey folks, it talks about this in the article but its not mentioned in this post, BACA is a 501 © (3) charity that depends in part on donations to help pay for stuff like gas for their bikes. If you want to help, consider donating.
@copperbadge You like posting about heroes, Sam. Seems like this would be up your alley.
I love these folks! I’ve reblogged them before but it’s wonderful to see the donation information has been added.
Always reblog. Keep doing what you’re doing y'all.
Guys? This post changed my life. I saw this post. Forever ago. And thought it was only in america… and wished desperately that they could help me. But then I saw it again, during a bad episode, and checked their site. They aren’t just in the USA
They’re in Canada as well and probably other countries. I met and talked with a native guy who runs the place near me. His name is Shaman. I got in, and I’m considered a BACA child now. Despite being 17, turning 18 when I talked to them. They spent time with me when my abuser was over, they gave me therapy resources. They give you something called a ‘level 1′ where they go to your house with as many bikers as they can, i shit you not a solid 20-40 bikers came from even out of province, and met me. I got to choose my biker name and I got a vest with patches on it and my name on it. They all hugged a Teddybear before giving it to me, and told me if I ever felt the BACA bear was running out of love, to give them a call and they’d refill it for me, and then I got a ride on one of their bikes. Just a day or so ago I went to an annual party with them and they we ate food one of them cooked and had a lot of laughs.
I’ve never felt as loved as I did being a part of the BACA family. They also gave me dog tags with the names, and phone numbers of my 2 workers. So I can call them whenever I feel scared.
BACA is an absolutely wonderful group that will do everything in it’s power to help any child whos been abused.
And it doesn’t end when you’re 18 either. As long as you get in contact/get your level 1 before you’re 18? you’re ALWAYS a BACA kid. I’m 18 now and they still invite me to parties, ask me if I’m okay, and are there for me. They’re still trying to find me resources for therapy.
BACA has changed my fucking life.
I hope you all can read this, and reblog it knowing from someone who fucking been with them, that they are absolutely amazing.
I live in Az and my neighbor was a part of this. He also rescued senior dogs.
My sense of humor is growing more and more ridiculous because I was just sitting here by myself thinking like what if instead of saying “are you kidding me” we said weird food related things like “are you frying my rice right now” or even “are you seriously buttering all of my toast with this” and honestly I cried
this post is the best thing I’ve ever put on this site because I’m still getting messages and replies from people with their own versions of these jokes
#are you flipping my pancakes
The prosecutor who subpoenaed and cross-examined Hitler in 1931 for a murder trial against four brownshirts was a Jewish lawyer named Hans Litten. The three-hour testimony left Hitler so unnerved and humiliated that he forbade anyone speak Litten’s name in his presence, and he was killed in a concentration camp. Today, the German bar association is called the Hans Litten Association, and every year they give out the Hans Litten Award for excellence in the legal profession. That’s how you commemorate history.

Boycott To Siri With Love
If you are planning on reading or gifting “To Siri With Love” by Judith Newman, please be aware that the autistic community has called for a boycott. The book is a grotesque invasion of the 13-year old son’s privacy including her cruel observations that imagining him having sex is accompanied by the Benny Hill soundtrack in her head. She plans to acquire power of attorney to have him forcibly sterilized when he is 18 without his consent.
Books having a long shelf life, this tell-all laughing at his struggles with social communication, motor apraxia, etc. may make her a lot of money and has gotten her on the NYT book list, however that book is going to follow him for the rest of his life. It is child abuse in printed format.
Okay, so I read the first twenty pages of the book, and HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS IT’S BAD.
The author begins by saying she hates ‘patronizing’ phrases, but then:
She says she’ll use ‘he’ as the default pronoun because she hates the singular ‘they’ - I quote, “Language needs to evolve, but not into something ugly and imprecise.” She then goes on to bash the word ‘cisgender’ as supposedly pretentious.
She casually mentions looking at her kids’ Google search history as a matter of course.
While discussing the rise in autism diagnosis rates, she says, word for word: “Or whether it’s because slightly odd people who used to be single are having more of a chance to breed”
She consistently uses person-first language, despite having poked fun at it earlier.
She consistently focuses on her (very privileged, narrow, making no attempt to widen it) worldview rather than her child’s.
And that’s just within the first twenty pages.
Here is a post by an actually autistic lady detailing the horrible, callous, dehumanizing way this author speaks of autistic people, the way said author has behaved on Twitter towards autistic people, and yes the author’s unashamed declaration that she intends to forcibly sterilize her autistic son who was, let me remind you, thirteen years old at the time she wrote the book (and is still a minor).
In conclusion, fuck this woman. Absolutely boycott this book. As an autistic person, I know our voices are incredibly diverse, but I think I speak for all of us in saying this: I do not want to be condescended to by people who pretend they’re on my side.
when you unzip a guys pants while he has a boner does it pop up immediately like a wack-a-mole or does it slowly rise like dracula from his coffin
neither. the penis does not exist until you summon it through a series of mystic chants and riverdancing
i worry about the people on here sometimes
I make these posts every month, until I pay off my debt, this one is for December 2017. If you’d like to see my old posts you can look: here
Basically I had to withdraw from school because my grandparents died while I couldn’t afford my meds to treat my mental illness, which at the time was only diagnosed as depression, I know now I’m schizophrenic, and have BPD, which were impacting my ability to continue my education without me knowing what they were. I was also suffering from a physical illness that nearly killed me.
I’m now medicated and desperately want to go back to school, however I owe my university $5,010.65, and I can’t go back until I pay that off as my transcripts are frozen. Which is to say, I owe the school directly, this is not a loan to the federal government or a private bank.
My goal is to raise $1028 a month if it’s possible, didn’t make my goal for october, so because of that I’ll maybe be done with my debt april 2018, however I’m willing to wait as long as it takes tbh. So far I’ve went from nearly 14k in debt, to 5k in debt so yall have done quite a lot already to help me.
I did apply for FAFSA for the 2018-2019 school year, and the sooner I get this paid the sooner I can unfreeze my transcripts sign up for classes and apply for this scholarship my university offers under TRIO, which I will get if I apply early enough. So if I make these goals I can go back to school come September 2018 !!! I will have all my classes paid for, and I will have a place to live.
If you think this is a worthy goal my little brother has set up a youcaring and paypal as I’m on SSI so I can’t touch the money without being taken off, so he’s taken it upon himself to help me pay off my debt.
you can donate to youcaring or you can donate to the paypal: here and the paypal email is: [email protected]
Thanks for tolerating this on your dashes, like and reblog if you want to, and maybe consider donating if you want to/are able to. don’t feel bad if you can’t donate or reblog. Every dollar helps, everything yall do helps.
only got about 5 months of this left
Currently I’m down to needing $873.02 out of the $1028 for this month.
Down to $820.22, thank you all for helping me go back to school!!
