I initially wanted RK900 to look at Connor too, but felt like I'm ascribing too much emotion beyond the canon on this one, so I had him look away.

For color draft, I went with a monochromatic look, so I can focus on shapes & lighting… as much as I love exploring colors, it can be distracting in some cases (eg. when I wanted the top light to not only illuminate but also to drain all colors from the scene).

Aaaaaand this is where the fun begins: I've always had a hard time prioritizing what to render, so this time I tried to pencil-in main areas & lines where I want the viewers to focus - aka the faces & the path our eyes tends to travel to and from the faces. It's a good reference especially when I'm 10+ hours in & lost in the sauce.

It also tells me where to cleaned up so the leading lines can guides viewer's eyes around the canvas better. Shoutout to Asen Liy (@asenliyyy) for the tip! The tutorial is not in English, but her processes are pretty clear and informative.

AUTIA!!!!!! your art was one of the first things i saw when i first dove into dbh tumblr. i remember seeing your stargazing rk1k comic and falling in love with your masterpieces. so much so that it also inspired me to write my first rk1k fic eheheh. seeing your work pushes me to improve my art and so many fics that i've written exist today because of you!!!!
