Something that I realised when I first started getting more into transfeminism that really made it click for me is that even when people say "trans women are women", they rarely actually mean that. Even a lot of trans women don't fully believe it when they say it, even if they don't realise.
We're still expected to act like a third gender. Sure you fall more into the group of "woman" than the average born male but a lot of the time there's still an implicit understanding that you are to not push too hard on being a real woman. If you talk about the misogyny you face, the ways you enjoy engaging with womanhood, or start happily taking up space, people will often get weirded out. They'll look at you funny, or they may verbalise disgust. A trans woman might be a woman, but it gets awkward when it becomes apparent that the woman in question genuinely believes it to be true and doesn't just want to be humoured.
I fell into this trap for a long time. I would feel uncomfortable even calling myself a woman sincerely because it felt like I was doing something wrong. I was encroaching. I was pushing my luck with what was acceptable for a pseudo-woman to do. If you are a trans woman who feels like this, like you're a separate category of person than just a plain woman, you have to realise something. If your joy makes people disgusted or uncomfortable, that's their problem. Make them uncomfortable, make them squirm (assuming it's physically safe of course). You owe these people nothing. You are a woman, full stop. Embracing that fact without shame or asterisks does wonders for your self esteem.
"ralsei is actually the girl in the prophecy" no. "actually lancer fills the lonely prince role so ralsei can transition." nope! "gaster or whoever alters the prophecy so that the prince is a princess!" "there's a secret hidden prophecy panel about ralsei's transition" "flowery knows ralsei is transfem because he saw it in the prophecy" NO! "the prophecy–" we do not need the evil and constricting rules that bind this world to a tragedy: gender affirming edition okay the point of the transitioning is to go against the prophecy
I still can't believe people are complaining about Ralsei being trans. Being trans is all about making your body your own, taking charge of your own destiny by being what you want to be. It's a really good analogy of breaking away from some "prophecy" of what you're supposed to be.
Furthermore, the prophecy has already been wrong in terms of imagery before.
The prophecy shows Tenna's "head" being cleaved in two. But in Chapter 3, Tenna may be "cleaved red by blade", but it's his arms, not the entire TV. And even if you aren't able to fix him in certain routes, the TV isn't slashed in the overworld.
It's cracked. There's no slash from one end to the other. The top and bottom cracks of the TV doesn't match the screen cracks in any way, and even the cracks don't align properly.
Also, the prophecy is literally described as "whispers among the shadows" and "the legend of this world". From that, it literally means "stories passed down from generations". In fact, Merriam Webster defines it as "a story coming down from the past, especially one popularly regarded as historical although not verifiable".
Also, wasn't the point of Chapter 4 to say that the prophecy could be re-written? Or at least interpreted in different ways? Chapter 4 also made that clear that the tale is as old as time, so certain parts of the story were lost or altered over time.
Furthermore, isn't Susie's whole arc about "defying the prophecy" and creating your own path? And hasn't Ralsei been influenced by Susie's way in the refusal of allowing the player to close their eyes and think of Susie or refusing to let the player hurt Flowery?
Anyway, I went into further detail in the Read More about the Old Man's summaries of the chapters and how each of them matched up with what happened in Deltarune.
Chapter 1: The March of the Dark King.
The heroes defeat the king and stop the dragon.
Just from this alone, this was flipped around. We stopped the "dragon" before defeating the king... with the "dragon". Susie was called the dragon by Gerson, so it's easy to tell there's already a seemingly small change within the prophesy.
Chapter 2 The City of the Shining.
The heroes do battle in chariots to save the Queen.
Once again, things are massively different. They did battle in chariots against Berdly, but not against Queen. It was one, massive chariot. Sure, "technically" it's made up of several parts, but it's not individual chariots. Furthermore, they weren't saving Queen. They were saving Noelle, who is supposed to be "the Angel". But like it's stated, Queen could be "saved" in a way that she was saved from making a mistake of creating a dark fountain and accidentally summoning another titan, but once again, it was Berdly who was going to do that, with Queen only giving certain words about it. Either way, the heroes didn't do battle in several chariots with the intention of saving a Queen, but instead doing battle against the Queen. Once again, small changes in the prophesy.
Also, is Queen capitalized in the game and king isn't? The Wiki kept king uncapitalized while Queen was capitalized. I feel like that wouldn't have been a simple error fans would have missed.
Chapter 3, The Isles of Northernlight.
The heroes travel among the islands and catch a glimpse of a lost land.
This one is a bit more concrete... except not really. When it comes to catching a glimpse of a "lost land", I'm assuming it's the northern lands in Board 2. But the thing is... the heroes could miss it completely. You could completely avoid the northern lands by never going north. Same with Kris exploring that land. Making it an instance where "we" had the power to defy the prophesy outside of the Weird Route.
Sure, Tenna might have put a pyramid or a rainbow or whatever, but those were just part of the boards. And maybe the glimpse could have been the third, hidden board that was lost to us, so it could be interpreted like that as well. Or it could be the hidden side of the islands with Ramb, but only Kris is able to play it, meaning that "heroes" don't see the lost lands. Also, once again, it's skippable.
Chapter 4, The Trials of the Holy Hammer.
A great smith gives the heroes a terrible weapon.
Terrible, you say? This weapon's not terrible at all! /j
But yeah, when thinking of a smith and hammer, you'd think of a blacksmith, not a wordsmith. Though, unfortunately, this one's a lot more straightforward. That's because the book that Gerson is referencing is his book, and who doesn't love a self-insert? and Gerson seems to be a hammer wielder. However, he may be the Lord of the Hammer, but he never calls himself the "Holy Hammer". Lord could either be a god... or just a position of power.
Either way, Gerson is great, so unfortunately that part of the prophesy cannot be misinterpreted at all! Maybe the prophecy can't be broken because of that. /j
Chapter 5, The Field of Pink and Gold.
The vast garden is charred in an inferno of jealousy.
Aside from the changes of the Weird Route, this is also seemingly straightforward. Ralsei is jealous and has fire magic. But Ralsei... literally went against this by refusing to use his fire magic. The vast garden never was charred. Sure, that may be literal, but even rhetorically, Flowery and other flowers were never hurt by Ralsei's jealousy (and even if Ralsei "burned" Orange, it wasn't out of jealousy). And maybe it was charred by Flowery's jealousy of finally being able to do something for the Flower King and being a possessive college boyfriend and being jealous of Kris... but I don't really see that as the vast garden being charred in an inferno of jealousy there.

This is all to say that this prophecy everyone talks about... it's not truly set in stone. Things may happen that are written of the prophecy, but it isn't always word for word. It could be literal, or it could be rhetorical. Either way, we have a small bit of dialogue from this interpretation of the prophecy from one lovely character:
But, like, what's amazing, is how, like, these heroes,
Are like, oh my god, they're like…
The thing is, they could be like, any one of us, you know?
So, like, that's the thing, like,
You gotta keep in mind we could ALL be!!!

Thanks, Katti! Anyone in the world can change it in some way, regardless of who or what they are. And it could all stem from Ralsei embracing herself. I also kind of see the relationship between Ralsei's fire magic and "suppression". Because Ralsei doesn't show off that fire, it's limiting. But by showing the flames of change, If Ralsei chooses, she could change everything by no longer being "a prince of the dark", but "a princess of light"... thus completely breaking the term "Darkner" and showing that you can be more than someone who lurks in the dark.
