The IDW Sonic writers when asked to make a story arc centered around something other than mind control

After the (not unjustified) hysteria surrounding the use of AI-generated assets in the new Crazy Taxi, I searched Sega's internal job listings site to see how many of them involve AI in some way. Lo and behold, I found this job posting for a "TA Engineer" for the "2nd Business Division" (a.k.a. Sonic Team).

Ngl, this year of Sonic stuff really feels like we're back in the early 2010s period where the franchise is silently falling apart but everyone's ignoring it because the last couple of games were decent and because Sega are good at distracting people with memes.

I have a crackpot theory

This is going to make me sound horrible, but I'm really not a fan of the recent trend of the IDW Sonic staff playing the victim card and throwing pity parties for themselves on social media whenever there's the slightest backlash to anything that comes up in the comics. All it does is demonize all legitimate criticism and reinforce the idea that the staff lives in a permanent bubble where they have no incentive or pressure to actually improve their craft.
