I have an online proctored exam in an hour or so, and I cleaned my desk and the rest of the room bc it was honestly embarrassing to look at (and because you can't have random stuff on your desk during the exam) and honestly even I don't pass I'm pretty happy with how the day worked out.
It’s crazy that the most refreshing part of Star Trek is the way that their female characters are just human.
They have strengths and weaknesses. Neither come from the fact that they are just a woman - they come from skills gained, experience.
And the fact that sexism just isn’t accepted in the federation is a breath of fresh air. Seeing Janeway be respected as a captain with not a single hint of distrust or disrespect from the men around her - no one questions her ability to do the job.
The only sexism Janeway faces is from other species that still hold sexist ideals and you see the faces of her crew , they are disgusted that someone would speak to Janeway that way
It’s just nice to not see a woman in a place of power have to continually defend her position.
It’s nice to see a female captain be strong, competent, self assured, kind, empathetic, intelligent
She doesn’t feel like a Mary sue because she’s allowed to fuck up. She doesn’t feel like the “I’m not like other girls” subtype because she does let herself have feminism moments. Like her pink night gown?? I will argue until I’m blue in the face that is my favourite bit of Janeway writing. The woman who commands voyager allows herself to go to bed in something dainty, feminine and soft. Because she doesn’t reject her feminine side, she simply embraces all sides of her self
Anyway I just love Star Trek and I love Janeway and I love the way they write women , thank
let this be a reminder that even if it takes time your dreams can come true

Video of the Artemis II launch. I can't describe how I feel right now, a lot of emotions.
Date: April 1, 2026
Sorry for the delay in posting, I've been in traffic since the launch, but here's a first taste of what I got from Artemis II! I got to view it from the NASA Causeway.

I think I found my new favorite rabbit hole. This voice actor does Shakespeare scenes in a southern accent and I need to see the whole damn play. Absolutely beautiful
if you're not from the us american south, there's some amazing nuances to this you may have missed. i can't really describe all of them, because i've lived here my whole life and a lot of the body language is sort of a native tongue thing. the body language is its own language, and i am not so great at teaching language. i do know i instinctively sucked on my lower teeth at the same time as he did, and when he scratched the side of his face, i was ready to take up fucking arms with him.
but y'all. the way he said "brutus is an honourable man" - each and every time it changed just a little. it was the full condemnation Shakespeare wanted it to be. it started off slightly mock sincere. barely trying to cover the sarcasm. by the end...it wasn't a threat, it was a promise.
christ, he's good.
the eliding of “you all” to “y’all” while still maintaining 2 syllables is a deliberate and brilliant act of violence. “bear with me” said exactly like i’ve heard it at every funeral. the choices of breaking and re-establishing of eye contact. the balance of rehearsed and improvised tone. A+++ get this man a hollywood contract.
whatever you say, captain gorgeous

when amos is treating prax’s knee and asking if the terrible things prax’s ex is saying about him are true, because, you know, sometimes guys do things. sometimes things happen, right, and it doesn’t make them bad people :):)
and prax is like. no? and fuck you? (in a very polite prax way)
the way amos just. adjusts. even in audio the threat eases. then prax asks what would’ve happened if it were true, and amos cheerfully answers he would’ve broken prax’s neck and thrown him out the airlock, and prax says ah. thank you.
