40 minutes after the iceberg impact the crew started getting passengers in the lifeboats. Varš and Anya being on the deck previous to the impact were one of the first in a chaotic line to reach one, being rejected because of the rule they’d learned about being woman and children first Anya refused.

Hearing rumours of the south end allowing men to board they went together, just before being lowered Anya got in and as the lifeboat was lowered she turned around to find he wasn’t with her. Varš knew he couldn’t go, not until he found his younger siblings but he knew he also had to ensure Anya’s safety.

Which is of course where this page takes off from.

I’ve had this au idea for a long while, but just recently I’ve been able to start working on it.

Everyone on the Ground knows where to go for information. Most of them go to Kuro and pay through the nose for the privilege.

The ones who know better come to her.

She runs Concord — the only place on the surface where the truth is sourced, cross-referenced, and kept.

A hundred and fifty years of it. Every monster, every safe zone, every weapon ever pulled from something somebody loved. All of it sitting somewhere only she knows.

Her prices are fair. Fair, not cheap — the small jobs will cost you, and the big ones will cost you more. But you’ll get what you paid for, which is more than Kuro can promise. Respect gets you generosity.

Bad faith gets you nothing, or worse, bad information. Disrespect gets you face to face with her Jinki.

The world meets the sharp one. Her husband and sons get the warm one. Same woman. Different rooms.

JINKI — LAW

Inactive form: A hairpin shaped like a small scythe, worn tucked in her hair at all times. The design reads as old — ornate craftsmanship, approximately eighty years of age, made with intention by someone who cared for it long before it ever reached Gena.

Origin: Gifted to Gena by Cyon and their sons when the boys were four and five. Where Cyon first found the pin remains unknown. It is possible the piece already carried anima from a previous owner; that existing anima, combined with the love poured into it by her husband and young sons and her own deepening bond with it, likely accelerated Law’s awakening considerably.

Initial activation: A short curved blade with a handle.

Quarter form: Elongates into a proper sickle with reach.

Half form: The blade develops dark, ornate architecture and aggressive serrated curves.

Full transformation: A full scythe — dark ornate detailing, dual curved blades, considerable weight and size.

A single piece of metal throughout, channelling teal energy. Gena rarely draws Law. By the time she does, the situation has already been decided.
