A frosty chill had settled over Alterac and snowflakes were starting to drift gently onto the already frost-kissed ground. The town, known to many as The Kingdom, was lit along the main street leading up to the central home called the Nest. Despite the cold, the network of thieves and villains was fully alive, people trading, selling, working under the watchful eye of the Ratz, who made sure the Kingdom always came out on top. The Rat King stood at the steps leading to the Nest, gazing down at the corpse at his feet, and licking the dead man’s blood off his hands. 

Lurking in the shadows, the Ratz are the eyes and ears that the Rat King depends on. Those who visit The Kingdom are familiar with the clicking and clacking that they hear on the metal pipes that can be found outside every building. Visitors are well aware of minding their manners for every time the pipes start to clank, the Rat King knows exactly what is going on in his home. The Ratz tell all. They are skeletal creatures, once humans, elves, and orcs. They are loyal to their King. And they infest every corner of the world, like the rodents they are.
