Stan glanced at the note on his passenger seat again, wondering why Fidds gave it to him.
Surely, he’d figured out that Ford wasn’t interested, if he’d never even mentioned him before… It hurt to think about it, but if he was honest with himself, he knew it would happen.
Ford wasn’t really the sentimental type. Not anymore. Not since… Fuck, he couldn’t remember the last time Ford gave him a hug and it felt genuine.
He felt familiar tears tickle his eyes and he took a deep breath. It didn’t matter anymore. He wasn’t going to cry in his car on the side of the road like a loser for a brother who’d decided he was better off without Stan, long before the science fair accident.
He remembered Ford slowly pulling away, asking Stan to leave the room so he could focus on his studies, talking about his future and no longer theirs… Yeah, sure, Stan had pushed his luck with the smart comment on treasure hunting but he’d seen this coming from miles away.
He’d just… Hoped that Ford would come around. Come to his senses. Maybe even reach out.
Stan shook his head, some thoughts were better left behind in the past. He missed Ford more than anything, but he’d promised himself he wouldn’t reach out. Not now, when he was still living out of his car and it could be seen as a call for help. He didn’t need help! He was doing just fine.
The lie rang hollow inside of him but he forced himself to believe it. He hadn’t gone this far for nothing, hadn’t lived this long with basically nothing to give up now. He was bound to be good at something at some point, right? So what if he took shortcuts to get there?
He sat back and took the note, re-reading the numbers there as if he hadn’t already memorized them, just in case.
Calling Ford was out of the question but what about Fidds? He’d basically asked Stan out, had agreed to go for drinks even. He didn’t seem like the kind of man who would stab him in the back. Although Stan knew that meant nothing, he’d been stabbed in the back by plenty of people, sometimes even literally.
But… Fidds had felt comforting. It wasn’t something he allowed himself to have very often, mostly because it was dangerous at best and addictive at worst. He’d found him endearing, the same way he’d look at puppies at the pet store sometimes and find them cute.
Maybe he should allow himself this. One nice evening, a couple of drinks, and a promise to trade funny stories at Ford’s expense. God knows he had plenty of those…
Challenge: Make a poppy playtime au based on My less interested AU concept/ idea
I picked swap au. Honestly, I've see a lot of swap au that ended up not being enjoyable. Plus, this is my first time writing for this au idea.
Synopsis:
After hour of joy playtime co toy being split into 3 sides. One is loyal to the lady, the other is on ollie's side, and the last is the toys who still believe in the original reason of hour of joy,leave the factory. Start the new thing outside the factory. But with the advent of toy war, this balance began to be disrupted. Many toys, unaware of what was happening, became victims and had no way to fight back.
so here the list which one I swapped there are other but not really have big impact of the story
1. poppy> prototype (the lady and Ollie)
2. mommy long legs >daddy long legs (I give him different personalities he more aggressive)
3. butcher (rich) > doctor (Sawyer) (because of this the experiment more violent toward him)
4. dogday> yarnaby and catnap (yes he loyal to butcher but also think butcher as savivor that will save them)
4. lily (Gracie) > Leith (the mini critters actually caught him)
5. giblet> doey (doey more aggressive near Sawyer, he not trust him but he trust butcher. giblet also really close to butcher because he know butcher are victim of the company same as him)
6. Preston> Jessica (the both of them turned into toy. but Preston thrown away by the lady. )
7. huggy > kissy > chum. (the three of them are swapping each other role. chum more aggressive here but he can't hurt. the lady plan to kill him, huggy is more calm,when kissy are spy)
8.catnap > dogday,hoppy (he is part of safe haven before got caught,)
9.smiling critters> nightmare critters (they take over playcare after toy war. )
10.baba > catnap (they actually loyal to the lady )
Even tho this is just a challenge I will try my best for this au. I actually still rewrite the pit portal au.So I will write a kind of oneshot for this.
Maybe I will start with after toy war. But I'm also ready with the current timeline.
