cuz like. i do think everything is a spectrum ofc and everyone does what they want forever and there will always be people that do not fit in the grain

but like. when i say "oh, i cant be too weird about this character where others can see it though, the creators asexual" im not sayinf "they dont experience sexual attraction but the rest we dont know" im obviously saying "theyre asexual and have specified theyre sex repulsed and uncomfortable with their characters being treated a certain way"

so if someones like. "um akshully ☝️ asexual is a spectrum and many asexuals take that as a compliment to their characters" yeah and lesbians can have sex with men theyre not attracted to, dipshit. but you guys still accept a simple "no, dont come onto her, shes lesbian" as an explanation..

like e.g. i'm aroace but i have threeish ‘partners’ anyway. but it's in a really fucked up and complicated way where mostly we're not partners at all! more like tenuous political allies. and there is a complex history where that relationship has gained and lost partnerness over time, and difficult stories to tell about how we got together in the first place

its quite possibly just fake support without knowing what it means. you know, the usual issues.

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

The cutting of Rapunzel’s hair both literally and metaphorically kills her controlling parental figure. Sometimes to truly be free and be yourself you need to fully cut a controlling parent out of your life and it can feel like a death of sorts.
