They used to be a light blue as a youngin (baby hook!!!), something something sky (mom, an oc) and sea (dad, also an oc) meeting and his optics reflecting that.

As for the gold, i have a hc that for bots with prominant, decorative, elemental metal on their frame like him. Have it develop slowly as they grow up and their frame has more of the metal build up on his frame, eventually resulting in (in his case) a stylish trim around certain features

Later on when he grew up a bit he got some body mods, detailibg aroubd his frame and stuff. Decided to drop the baby blues as they made him look less intimidating (plus his moms died) so he got a mod that made his optics yellow, almost the exact yellow his mom had actually

then he gets older, gets into fights and what not as a pirate, gets a nasty hit to the head and gets slight vision issues and extreme light sensitivity in his optic, wich is why he starts usein a patch. Gives him a slight squint when hes not using his patch due to said light sensitivity (this stays for the rest of his life), the damaged optics pupil is constantly slightly blown, and the yellow in it darkens slightly

On earth the damaged optic has actually returned to its origonal blue, the mod he got on the optic to change color having stopped working properly over time due to the damage. He can keep it yellow just takes contious effort so he doesnt do that unless hes using his card weapon or has the eyepatch flipped up for whatever reason.

KK so it’s pretty basic I’d say 👀 but the lore here is Black Hook highkey murked Rip Current’s adoptive father, Excalibur, so Rip Current is hunting him down along with Cloud Cover and Kindle. Rippy hated Black Hooks guts this is completely one sided and Black Hook prbly doesn’t rlly remember marking Excalibur honestly I imagine 😭 but he’ll know him eventually when they meet up on Earth

Cover and Kindle got some opinions about him cause this is when they first meet him 👀 Cloud Cover is concerned and feels bad for him which is why he agrees to help him in the first place

Kindle however doesn’t like or trust Rippy at all based on his cold and aggressive demeanor, and prbly also bc he threatened to kill her. But to be fair she was threatening to kill him back and turning him in to the local Star Guardians cause yk Wild Cardbot. At this point in time she does heavily discriminate against Wild Cardbots unfortunately
