#summer of 84#rewatch#summer horror movies#i really didn't enjoy this on my rewatch :(#still kinda boring except for the last 20 minutes or so#and those were kinda anxiety inducing for me this time ngl#idk i feel like the movie should have leaned more into the theme of 'oh shit now it's serious and terrible and not fun and games anymore'#(spoiler territory)#because ofc in the end davey is alone and stuff#but woody's death isn't even really acknowlegded??#he didn't even get a funeral scene!?!#the movie and davey did him so dirty#he was scared from the beginning on and damn he was right#they shouldn't have messed with mackey before trying more to have other cops or so investigate on him#davey could have literally just filed a police report saying that he saw the missing boy at mackey's house#ofc odds are nobody would have believed him#but he kinda didn't even try because idk he thought it was fun to play detective and become a hero#yeah i know i'm judging him kinda hard now but i'm upset#and i really think all of that could have been an interesting theme#the imbalance between fun detective games and the reality of facing a serial killers#but it was too subtle to me#i wanted to delve more into the psychological repercussions of sth like this happening#maybe not the right movie for me#but it had so much wasted potential
