The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.

The Reasons That Lie Beneath — 10k

When Loki decides to be a little shit and curse Steve Rogers with a cuddling spell- the Avengers are suddenly the victims of crushing hugs and constant hand-holdings. And weirdly- Steve has a strange attachment to Tony in particular. But Loki's trick reveals more to Tony than he had ever expected, and now it's time to face some terrifying realisations that come with the curse. Tony needs more fucking coffee to deal with all this.

One thing I noticed in the fics I've read so far is that the time traveller usually tries to kill Wen Ruohan or win the Sunshot Campaign first, and THEN deal with Jin Guangshan and his opportunistic scheming. Steve comes across Tony's flower shop and starts to buy flowers for himself. Tony find himself with a massive crush on his new favorite customer, who Pepper swears is Captain America. But as Tony tells her, “Yeah, Pep, Captain America totally came in on a random Tuesday morning for flowers after happening to see our van,” he sarcastically said. “Of course it wasn’t him, just a ridiculously handsome guy who maybe looks a little like him, I guess.”

Today I am finishing up a literally years long project, so I’m doing this week’s list quick and easy. It helps that as I finish this, my head’s been too busy for anything new, so I’ve been falling back on my comfort reads both in fanfic and in novels. So here’s the trusted comfort reads that always leaves me adoring Steve and Tony.

For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

Steve doesn’t know who the hell said that to Tony. It’s probably for the best that he doesn’t.
