Where there ever a question undeserving of an answer, it was this one. So he doesn’t. She’s lost his interest wholly.

There’s a pleased little hum in his throat. “Seems to me you know this world just fine, then. Trust is a dangerous thing.”

“I think I like you better when you’re making unintentional lewd comments.”

Sounds like fun!

“While I know that, it seems some do not.” The statement seems directed not only at the current topic of their conversation. Hand flexes, fingers taping an unknown rhythm in the air. “When you’re right, you’re right, I suppose, but a man a dream, can’t he?”

He sighs wistfully, legs moving to drape off the far end of his lounge, body deflating. “As is my own fault, I suppose,” Arm covers his eyes. “I’ve been gone for far too long, and it’s given her too much free range.”

“How very easy for you to say, whoever you are.” He scuffs, waving the other off. “I know you’re new here, so you’re likely unaware, but I often let her get away with her childish remarks, usually about my mangas or my pillows, but this-” Mephisto presses the back of his hand to his forehead, letting his frame fall onto a lunge that materialized in a puff of cartoon smoke. “This, was the last straw. Thinking I could fall to a human soul turned demon-”

Where these normal circumstances, the demon might have questioned the sudden appearance of the stranger, instead the whining continues. “I wasn’t until she went too far.” Hands gesture vaguely in the air, distressed. “I don’t want to know what she’s done to hers, to make her say such a thing about me.”

“YOU!”

“Eat me alive, she says,” Muttered not so quietly under his voice, the King makes a sour face, clearly offended, and incredibility so. “Never have I been so insulted by that woman.”

“So you say?” The King repeated through an amused sneer. “I do believe the words you’re looking for are “thank”, “you”, and “Sir Pheles”.” Eyes scan over the carnage surrounding the pair, clicking his tongue with a shake of his head before his gaze returns to Rins. “Look at the mess you’ve made. Someone has to clean all this up, you know.”
