Animon Story: Legend’s Wake is now live on Kickstarter!

Legend’s Wake is a new Pokémon-inspired expansion for Animon Story, the TTRPG about Kids & their Monster friends!

Originally released in 2021, Animon Story is an original ‘monster taming’ roleplaying game inspired by beloved anime and video games such as Pokémon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, and more. Players create a Kid character and an evolving monster buddy called an Animon. Together, they go on adventures, meet all kinds of animon, battle and evolve, and build the bond of friendship between them!

Legend’s Wake expands upon the original Animon Story rulebook in every way, providing more depth, more options for players and GMs, more guidance for running the game, and a fully developed setting and campaign to play out of the book, or customised to your liking!

Journey across the Dunia Region, a place where humans and animon live alongside one another. This is a world of both tradition and progress, where sparkling modern cities meet rustic rural villages. As new technology confronts ancient legendary powers, can harmony truly be found between humans and animon?

The Legend’s Wake expansion is presented as both as digital PDF and physical hardcover book, which will be produced upon successful funding of this Kickstarter. Alongside the book, a brand new Animon Card Deck is being funded. The deck will contain 50 illustrated tarot-sized cards, along with game stats, making them a stylish and useful addition to your Animon Story campaign.

The core rulebook, Ani-thology! adventure collection, and original card deck will also be available for backers of the ‘Newcomer’ reward tier, or as add-ons, so this campaign is also perfect for those who are new to the game.

This supplement provides new guidance for planning and playing out Bond Break Episodes. These dramatic story beats are times when the PCs are challenged on a deep personal level—the fundamental partnership between Kid and Animon Characters is called into question as the two clash.

Bonds Unbroken identifies the key components that go into them, and offers new ways to track and handle them. In addition, new guidelines for creating and using Dark Evolutions are included.

This supplement introduces a new type of adventure location, strange pocket dimensions that appear at the boundary of the human and animon worlds. Though they may act as useful gateways between the worlds, as they grow larger and more powerful, they threaten the stability of reality!

The Sanctuary module for Animon Story is newly available as a free download. This module was previously one of the monthly exclusive releases for Ko-fi Members.

Sanctuary is all about building a safe, comfortable place where animon can live happily in a community. It contains a new campaign framework, and supporting optional rules, for running and expanding your own Sanctuary, whether it's the focus of your campaign or a downtime activity.

The first of the new 'monthly fiction' releases is called Finding Elsewhere, a fairy story about what happens to the one kid in the village who didn't get to go on a magical coming-of-age adventure. And for the first time, Members can vote on the next Animon Story release! The options this time are:

Following up on the original Item Bag (which has been one of the most popular releases so far according to the recent Member's survey), this new release has a bunch of brand new items and power-ups to use in your games!

Alongside the typical kind of battle & adventuring items found in the first volume, this one also includes big random tables of smaller, more flavour-focused objects, including 'Stuff' likely to be found in kids pockets, and rarer oddities to be found in the animon world.

I have some big news to share about new features coming to my Ko‑fi Memberships!

I have reorganised the tiers a little, and added new rewards for each level on-top of what was already there. The primary reward is still the monthly animon story release, but there are new bonuses available now!

SUPER Tier and up will now get a weekly devlog, where I'll discuss what I've been working on, inspirations, and thoughts on design/writing.

ULTRA Tier and up now have access to a library of original and rpg related fiction written by me, and will get a new short story/serial every month. Some will be animon fiction, some otherwise.

GIGA Tier Members will now recieve a physical animon sticker once per month as a thank you! We are trialling the logistics of this, the first one should be going out in October. This will of course require GIGA Members to add their address if they want the sticker.
