i read a ton of fic. i read things i know i wouldn't like and things i know i do. i love reading!!!! some of my favorites are oldfic from the y2k era, so please be aware that some material in them may be eyebrow lifting. i don't think anything in them is especially egregious, though.
my favorite stories ever are adventure, political drama, and just plain drama. i love drama… (clenches fist) that said, a lot of these are vm fics because for some reason a lot of vm fics are in that niche. where are all the vw adventure fics??? i have to do it myself smh. if i drew for the fic i included the art too. n_n -

this is the best fic ever. 11/10. i made it a cover and printed it out and i love reading it over and over. it's perfect. no notes. post-trimax vash and knives travel the planet and knives writes restaurant reviews for the newspaper.

livio/razlo x knives rarepair fic. by my good friend charlie who is the knives understander. i dont want to hear anything about knives from anybody else. this is just... really, really good. a very in depth character study that explores their vulnerabilities and emotional healing from having both been Bad. inspiring prose. amazing community around this fic.

I hate it now because it allows generative ai writing. Like, excuse me? You did not write the story. You asked a program to do it for you. That's not work from a fan. It's just pure laziness, and it says enough.
Don't try to change my mind. Instead, get a poll going to tell AO3 to refuse gen ai for good. Fuck ai. Ban ai. Get fucked with your ai love shit.
AO3 has to allow AI generated fics because 1.) no censorship means nothing is censored 2.) it’s literally impossible to know FOR SURE which works are AI generated and which ones aren’t.
AO3’s banning AI generated works would mean their volunteers would have to read each of those reported fics and determine based on vibes if they were AI or not.
Do you think AO3 has enough resources and volunteers to do that? Do you genuinely believe genuine writers won’t get falsely reported and have their hard works wrongly marked as AI and taken down?
Whether or not you like it, it’s getting more and more difficult to tell which fics are AI because AI are getting “better”. There’s always a chance of a human made work “looking like AI”, because AI was trained on human made works.

Nothing more painful than when a kind stranger tells you about some random AI feature in a way that is clearly meant to be helpful and you have to choose between nodding along in despair or turning wokezilla 3000 on them
Vashwood is extra funny if you think about how The Church ™️ worships Knives, and views plants AS angels. Religious man betraying religion, because he got Feelings for an Angel sure is a vibe.

ww never betrayed religion, he betrayed/escaped his cult, which he did long before he knew vash was (narratively) an angel. all he knew was being an assassin and he didn't understand that knives was a different being until he saw the ressurection with his own eyes.
what he gave up was the doctrine of being a killer, and he actively chose to be a better person than he was yesterday by following vash's teachings. he was always inherently a kind person— his hurting people was always fundamentally based on kill or be killed, which isnt unique on this planet.
so like, in a way, he found religion, actually lol. this is also what the 'marriage' scene is about; the bride of christ has a lot of meanings but ultimately boils down to being committed to god (vash's message).
