You guys are gonna wanna see this

I’m of the same opinion when it comes to women who were raised by mothers who competed with them for love or male attention. It’s wildly harmful to be raised by a woman who’s obsessed with the idea of having a daughter but is only capable of loving men or a woman who’s centered her entire identity around motherhood and can’t come to terms with the fact that her child is now an adult, capable of making her own decisions, and isn’t interested in being controlled or manipulated.

I’m very close to someone who was raised by a woman who was always "sick”. The way I remember her mother, she was always in bed, never capable of interacting with or connecting with her children, unhappily married, and really a rather unpleasant sort of person. One of the things my friend has struggled with for a long time is staying out of a pattern where, like her mother, she gets into bed, puts on the TV, binge eats, and sleeps for days, and I’ve been proud to see her shake off years of neglect and do what she’s had to do to make herself proud instead of waiting around for a person who was never capable of loving her to have a change of heart and start validating her.
