an all too familiar weight nestled itself; much like the comfort of a blanket as the man’s focus lingered upon the riverside ahead. her innocent suggestion seemed to morph into a plea the longer he remained quiet. fingers manipulated the fishing line in his grasp as a small disturbance in the water caused his gaze to break from the initial tension. ‘ if you keep interrupting; this fisherman will never catch anything and we’ll go hungry. ‘ there’s a sense of mirth in his tone as he fastens the hook once more. a hushed noise flees dried lips before he spoke again. ‘ the wind’s quiet tonight. ‘

‘ oh? ‘ the soft crackle of snapping wood licked at soft flames. seated adjacent to the other, most would never even have the privilege of such rare company. more than aware, a hand cradled the offering as a calloused digit opened it to reveal the prizes within. fanning them outward, the warrior studied them for a moment before gently wrapping them once more. he hadn’t denied the gift as he fastened it to the belt along his waist.  despite the break in his line of sight, lips curled slowly. an air of playfulness only intensified before he chuckled. quick to raise a hand in defense, he’d readily faced her wrath should the teasing be taken for more than it’s worth. ‘ i've few treasures. and now you’ve added to them. I'm not quite sure how to repay such a gesture---a song perhaps? ‘
