In a blink of an eye, it’s Kashitaro Ito’s birthday again!! I want to thank everyone for joining the first video from last year, I was very happy to see the overwhelming response! I hope this year we’ll be able to do an even better video with even more people joining!! \(^ヮ^)/ It’s okay if you can’t draw or sing, even a simple message will warm his heart and make him happy! I hope everyone will be able to join!

General Information to take note

Kashitaro’s birthday is on July 25th, thus the dateline for all submissions will be on July 5 2016. (We have to take time to animate the video.)

If there is a chance that you might miss the dateline, please contact me (Bria) on twitter @idkbria or on my tumblr to schedule an extension, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me there as well.

Please note that all obscene materials/inappropriate materials may be cut off from your submissions or voice messages with or without warning.

Firstly, you must register to join the project, please fill up the Google Docs Form, there will be instructions on what to answer when you’re there.

After registering, you can submit your work anytime before the dateline. When submitting your entry, please submit it to [email protected], with:

         Your name: (the one you want to be credited with in the video).          A social media account you use frequently: (can be Tumblr or Twitter.)          The country you live in:          + the attachment/link/message that you want to send to Kashitaro.

Submissions information

Digital Fanarts

Fanart must be in 1920x1080. (Please try not to have it less than 720x480 or it might lose it’s resolution/quality.

Try to base your fanart on songs he’s covered/made, happy birthday themed, or anything happy. Refrain from gory, dark, or sad themes since it’s a birthday video!!

In your registration, if you could, please specify the theme that you’re going to do.

Traditional Fanart

If you could, please scan your artwork in A4 size for high quality/resolution purposes.

If you do not have a scanner, please take your traditional fanart with a good camera or phone camera. Make sure there are no shadows in the picture and everything can be seen clearly.

As mentioned above, Try to base your fanart on songs he’s covered/made, happy birthday themed, or anything happy. Refrain from gory, dark, or sad themes since it’s a birthday video~!

In your registration, if you could, please specify the theme that you’re going to do.

Photography/Photo Edits

Photos can be anything as long as it’s related to Kashitaro’s birthday or Kashitaro himself. You can go wild with your imagination, it could be seeing a cat on the road and thinking that this reminded you of Kashitaro or anything!! ww.

Please make sure the photo(s) are also in high quality.

If you’re doing photo edits/collages, please make sure they’re in high quality.

Handwritten messages

If you want to write calligraphy/handwritten messages to Kashitaro it is possible as well! 

Please make sure that the words that you wrote is big enough and neat enough for Kashitaro to see.

If you are using English, please make sure the English is written neat and is written with simple English as utaites might not be good at English.

If you want your message to be translated before you write them, please drop me a message on twitter or tumblr. (links are above and below in the credits). And we will try to translate as fast as possible so you can translate.

Please scan your message after you’ve written.

If you can’t scan please take a clear photo without shadows with a good camera/phone camera.

You may write whatever you want but please keep it short, don’t write a whole essay in one go!

Please keep the messages safe for work as well, if we find anything that might appear rude to us, we will not hesitate to delete it.

Messages

These messages will be shown on the video, it’s for people who prefer to keep things simple and snazzy. Just email us your message on [email protected]!

If you’re good at Japanese, you may write the message yourself and email it to us.

If you’re not so confident in Japanese, we can translate your messages from English/Chinese to Japanese for you. 

Please keep everything to at most 200 words! 

And just a reminder, no not safe for work stuff in your messages!

Voice messages

This may be anything you want, but please keep the maximum message to about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Anything longer than that will be cut.

You may talk in Japanese if you’re able to, but if you decide to speak in English, please use simple phrases as Kashitaro might not understand some of the English that you might be trying to say.

If you wish to speak in Japanese but need help translating your message to English, please send us a script of what you want to say as well, we will help you to translate and you can record the voice message as well.

Please upload the message somewhere we are able to download from.

Please make sure that your audio is not peaking in volume

Your message must be in mp3/wav format

There must be minimal to no background noise

And finally, if you have good microphones, please use those to record your messages, if not, try to speak as clear as possible in your headphone’s microphones.

Covers/Songs

This is for people who are interested to cover songs made by Kashitaro/sung by Kashitaro.

Please note that your songs will have to be mixed and recorded by yourself as our team is too busy to help you do these stuff.

We accept solos and duets, from all ages and all genders.

Please make sure your cover is related to birthdays, and try to cover songs that are sung by Kashitaro/made by him. No profanities or sexual references in the songs.

Please try to choose a song from 3-4 minutes.

Please make sure your song is not peaking in volume

Please make sure that it is in mp3/wav format

Please make sure there is no background sounds.

Please upload on a website where we are able to download it from.

Lastly, please refrain from using a computer/headphone microphone to cover the songs with.

Lastly, it is possible to do more than one submission! There is an option in the Google Docs Form where you can choose to do more than one submission, so if you’re doing more than one please do tell!

I apologize for the sudden announcement, but from today, October 10th, 2015 I stopped all my activities as 「Suzumu」

as the reason for it, I’ve summarized it in points of these clumsy sentences

･ I have admitted some songs, lyrics, music I have not own as mine and gain profit from it

･ I have spoken about 「things that disadvantages the related person above」on public

･ due to my lack of management I have made trouble from financial aspects to related person

about the details of 3 points above, as the related person asked, I’ve decided not to listed it here.

there are also other reasons more or less, unrelated to these.

the sense of justice I had as a child, before I knew it it has turned into excuses to protect my own self, I lie to myself again and again, lost in my own pride, before I knew I’ve come to have this ugly eyes, eyes that unable to see straight to anyone. I’ve betrayed my friends who believe me even that I’ve become like this, I manipulate, I said something that started a rumors which is different from the actual facts, and regarding to that I’ve done something that I can’t take back,having feeling guilt from these all, I know I should not making anymore trouble to anyone, and to take all responsibility I’ve come to this decision.

speaking the truth, even though I said to take responsibility, there is myself who run from it. from when I started working on music, no, even before I started, I believe I don’t have confidence in myself, but in the opposite I’m scared that my name that have grown bigger will disappear. from the start of this year, there are many friends who offer help to me who come to get lost of my own self. but I’ve become unable to trust even these kind people, I neglect all advices, and so day by day all these things piling up as I still unable to find my self, thus this day come, and I’ve decided from the bottom of my heart to end this.

no matter how hard things are going to me, I’m not that person that have courage to end my life. please do not worry about that.

lastly, I deeply apologize that I come to this conclusion without consulting anyone or even related person.

I repeat, from now on there will be no activities from 「Suzumu」, if there’s any person using that name, it’s another different person.

i was being really excited over their interactions in chat earlier LOL

okay so first for anyone who doesn’t know please check our their Recollections (20 and 21) AND the footnotes included, because it’s essential to understanding their relationship

so the person Heshi references in one of his quotes:

“Even though he bestowed my name upon me, he passed me down to the likes of someone who wasn’t even one of his ministers. Such was the man who was my previous master.”

is actually speculated to be Kuroda Kanbei! which is funny because Oda Nobunaga once thought Kuroda Kanbei was spying on him for someone else, and wanted to execute his son Kuroda Nagamasa as punishment. Except he ended up forgetting about the order. oops.

so he passes heshi onto the kuroda clan, and as you know, heshi’s not the biggest fan of nobunaga after that, because he thinks his master, the one who gave him his name, is betraying him. so it’s understandable that he might hold some resentment towards the kuroda clan as well, since after he’s under their care, he’s never really used as a weapon again and is treasured as a family heirloom. for heshi, who lives to serve and fight for a master, this is like the ultimate insult to his existence, to be idle and not actively serving a master.

in the footnotes for recollection 20, you’ll see that heshi’s master in the kuroda family had a higher standing than nihongou’s master, so nihongou’s trying to provoke him by saying that heshi’s looking down on him.

the interesting thing about recollection 21 is that the conditions for getting it seem to be that you have to send heshi and nihongou on a certain # of sorties together before you’ll get it (unconfirmed). nihongou’s pretty loyal to the kuroda family (his owner is the kuroda family’s most famous vassal, mori tahei), so he’s wondering why heshi always talks about nobunaga instead of the kuroda family, whom he spent much more time with.

he actually threatens to break heshi (wao) before heshi finally says something, and he seemed to actually like his master with the kuroda family (nagamasa). it’s a little sad because he says, 我々は人間より長くこの世に残る。だから忘れることにした – “Unlike humans, we remain behind in this world for much longer. That’s why I chose to forget (him).” he obviously tries not to let that keep him down though

and the best part is that nihongou’s one of the only characters that’s (canonically) able to coax this kind of stuff out of heshi, who’d otherwise just talk about the current master (you) or make remarks about nobunaga. and towards the end heshi seems to respect him too?? like that brings me back to the fact that the requirement for recollection 21 seems to be a repeated number of sorties with the swords together

augh i just. really like heshi and how his feelings towards his masters are just SO COMPLICATED?? and i’m so happy for his interaction with nihongou because it fleshes both of their personalities out so much

i’m sorry this is kinda turning into a “HESHI NEEDS MORE APPRECIATION OUTSIDE OF JAPAN” post but really he needs to not just be a meme and i wish people knew more history about not just him but all the swords
