Dennis Quaid and his wife Laura love my memoir ✨Talking to the Sky,” ✨which means so much to me. She reads everything and I love so many of his movies. “Great Balls of Fire” ☄️ is my favorite. (I think 💭.) He’s been in over a hundred movies. It was funny when we met -I told Dennis, “I feel like I know you,” and he said, “I feel like I know you too.” ( he kinda does after reading the book.) I always think I know famous people- not country stars - I do know most of them. But- movie stars 🤩( I forget they don’t know me.) It’s weird when you know someone’s voice, mannerisms, and laugh. When I met Oprah, I just started talking to her like we were best friends. She had lived in my living room for decades. Something crazy & embarrassing happened and I made an idiot out of myself in front of her & Gayle -in a hotel gym. That’s a different story- I’ll have to post about sometime. I was talking 90 to nothing and asked Oprah to do something (to give me a recommendation for this TV thing) and she actually said to me, “I don’t know you.“ I started laughing. Oh yeah! She did call me out by name at a “Live Your Best Life” seminar the next day. And she said - “Aimee - Your gonna go places!” It was surreal hearing her say my name. I got so inspired -I got the idea 💡 for the song “This One’s for the Girls” after that seminar. So many of my favorite authors love the book and I’ve made so many friends with people I would have probably never met. We’re spending the 4th of July with Dana Perino & her husband, Peter. I am so vulnerable in the book - I thought people would judge me for that, but surprisingly we are all way more alike than I would have ever dreamed. A girl asked me, “What’s the book about?” I never know how to answer that question. Then Dennis chimed in, “It will remind you of your own f❤️cked up life. Dreamboard You should get a Dream board. I 💯 percent believe they work. My neon pink dream board has been hanging on my wall for over a decade. So many things on it have come true. Probably 65% so far (- there are still dreams I’m waiting on.) But A while back, I had pictures of Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw on mine — hoping to get a song recorded by one of them. About a year later we had a number one with Blake on “Every Time I Hear that Song.” and a song on the radio with Kenny “Bar At the End of the World,” and “Doggone” on Tim McGraws new record. Now — most of the stuff on the board is about my family and dreams for my book. I do have a postcard of Bali that’s been up there so long the colors have faded in the sun. But, I think we are finally going this summer to celebrate our 20 year anniversary- 18 months late. ( Seeing the images everyday keeps these things at the forefront of my subconscious. So that when an opportunity comes up —it feels possible- oh yeah, that can happen it’s on my ✨Dream board. ✨ ❤️🙏🏻 A few of my favorite quotes... In 1999, I was on my way to Wal-mart when my cell phone rang, & a voice said, "Hey Aimee, this is Tim McGraw- I wanted to let you know I'm recording "My Best Friend," I love the song!" "Shut up," I said. "Who is this really?" Everyone that knew me- knew how bad I had always wanted a song on one of Tim's records. I thought one of my co-writers was playing a joke on me pretending to be him. The lyric came straight out of my diary, & I co-wrote it w/ #BillLuther Tim recorded "My Best Friend" & another song, "Seventeen," that I wrote w my husband, #ChrisLindsey, & Bill. When the album came out, I was waiting in the parking lot of Target when they opened to buy a copy. I called radio stations every day, requesting it. Finally, it was the third single off that record & stayed number one for three weeks. We were in Louisville, Kentucky, the first time I saw him perform it. I got kicked out of the concert. Hearing him sing it live was overwhelming, then the crowd joined in on the chorus, and thousands of people sang every word right along w him. I ran up to the stage & stood in the aisle, trying to soak up every second. This ego-ed-out, overzealous security guy grabbed my arm and told me to go back to my seat. "I will in a minute, I said." "Now." He grabbed my arm. "After this song. I will." I jerked away from him, and he started pulling me towards the exit. My publisher Ron Stuve stepped in and ended up in handcuffs, but thankfully we didn't go to jail. Through the years, Tim has recorded more of my songs than any other artist. He and Faith broke records on a song I wrote with Bill, Chris, and #MarvGreen, "Let's Make Love," for the longest-charting country single on Billboard and a Grammy. Tim has always been so brave & pushed the boundaries of country music. "Drugs or Jesus," "Things Change," "Good Girls" 22 years later, he just recorded one of my favorite songs, "Doggone" It's on his new record, "Here on Earth." Happy Anniversary "Amazed" It's pretty crazy this year is the 20th anniversary of "Amazed." Writing that song changed my life. Chris and I were falling in love, and our co-writer Marv Green was falling in love with his wife, Tasha. I am 100% convinced that that energy and essence got inside that song. We wrote the song the night before one of my demo sessions. I work better under pressure and definitely better with a deadline. When we recorded it the next day, I thought it didn't have a title. We called it "I'm Amazed by You" we never really found out who shortened it down to "Amazed," but it was a great call. Through the years, I've heard so many incredible love stories from people that "Amazed" was their wedding song. After about a decade, some of the stories started to change. In a bar one night after we sang it in a songwriter show, a drunk girl came up to me and said, "I hate that fu@king song. It was my wedding song, and I'm divorced." Amazed was Tony Robbin's wedding song to his wife Sage - that was cool ( I love Tony Robbins!)
