Am I the only one who feels that "forgotten" 80s mohair was on a completely different level?

Back then, a mohair sweater wasn’t just a collectible or an object of adoration—it was a true companion for a woman. Women actually wore them everywhere: to the office, on long trips, and throughout their daily lives. These garments were designed for a woman’s real-world needs and built for longevity.

The quality of the yarn back then was superior, often boasting 80% to 100% mohair content. These pieces didn't fall apart or leave a trail of fibers on everything a woman touched, unlike so many modern blends.

Don't get me wrong—it’s wonderful that independent women knitting on eBay are keeping the craft alive. Their work is beautiful, but the era when women wore mohair as a mass-market staple seems to be over. Women just don't wear it "en masse" anymore, and modern yarn often lacks that incredible durability and density that women could rely on decades ago.
