2. talk about atmosphere, LEOPOLDS was so fun and lively. the staff wear the traditional clothing and its awesome. if youre not in the mood for a party do not make dinner plans here since there is beer in das boot, it can get pretty loud. for my dinner i had the house-made sausage with sauerkraut and butter-carraway potatoes $10.25. it was listed as an appetizer but definitely was enough proportion size to be considered an entree. big props for being one of the only places in the city of san francisco to make their own sausage, two thumbs up. for drinks, we sampled two, the affligem strong pale ale $6 and the bitburger pilsner $4. there are two sizes for the beers so you can always opt to pay a little more money for a little more booze.
1. i can not say enough about WALWERK. Â since my wonderful experience here i have told anyone who would listen that they need to go as soon as humanly possible. by the picture of the dinky little sausage you would think i was lying but i never lie and this sausage packs a ridiculously tasty punch that is like no other. it is a grilled thuringer bratwurst served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut for $15. wash it down with a cold glass of oktoberfest beer (aventinus doppelbock $8) and you are in heaven. Â the mashed potatoes were creamy and the sauerkraut was tangy sweet in the best possible way. i felt like i was in my grandmas kitchen having dinner back home. priceless.Â
beer and sausages
aw man add some alcohol into the mix and everything tastes good. i chose sausage for this month because its oktoberfest and what kind of celebration would it be without some amazing german beers to go with my yummy german sausages? it was so much fun i wish it was oktoberfest every month.
10. im confused by this place and its fancy barbecue. WEXLERS came up on my radar so many times during the search for the perfect BBQ that i had to put it on the list and at least see what this place is all about. don’t get me wrong the food was to die for delicious and they had a couple of BBQ options on the menu but this is not what i think of when i think of grilling out on the fourth of july. i didnt have to lick my fingers during the meal, there were no wet naps on the table, and no extra sauce in plastic bottles anywhere in sight. even though it doesnt fit my image of a backyard BBQ, it was damn good and well worth putting on my list.

9. omg, i think the experience at BIG NATES is just as interesting as the food itself. its a tiny place in the middle of nowhere but you wont miss it because the name is painted the same size as the building. you walk in and there are four or five tables and jerry springer playing on the tv. it feels like you have entered a secret club but the members are your boys and will hook you up. when i say hook you up that is the understatement of the year. between the two of us we had enough food to feed a small army. it was our fault though because we ordered a "team meal" three point combo which comes with two half pint sides for $24.00. ridiculous but yummy!
8. they deliver! i may have been feeling a little lazy one night and decided to look up barbecue places that offer delivery and DIBBS BBQ AND GRILL came up right away. let me tell ya…messy, sticky, sloppy meat is a very strange thing to eat in the comfort of your living room but having said that i would totally do it again because it was sooooo good. i ordered the two way combo with ribs and brisket including mac n cheese and potato salad for $17.99. i think it took me three days to get through it all.
7. if beer and BBQ are your thing, then MEMPHIS MINNIES is the place for you since it is located in the midst of some of the best bars in the city. they have cute red and white checkered tablecloths like you are going on a picnic and for how busy they are the staff is super nice. we had the minnie’s taster, which is any three meats and two sides for $18.95. the ribs were hands down my favorite with the meat just tender enough to fall off the bone but they also have plenty of other delicious options to satisfy that very special drunken hunger and send you home ready to nap for the night.
6. its kind of cheating because GORILLA BARBECUE is technically in pacifica but i say so what when it comes to awesome food, right? Â i ordered the one meat combo because i had read ahead of time thats its a lot of food and you could share the one meat combo between two people and im sure glad i did my research because i could have never eaten all of that on my own and i am a certified piggy as you can attest to just by reading this blog. Â i got the brisket $11.75 (A+) and it came with two sides, beans and rice, cornbread, and BBQ sauce on the side. Â i had to take a nap directly afterward.Â
5. jump on the bandwagon, literally! Â THE RIB WHIP is a food cart that is so worth tracking down. Â when i happened upon this food stand it was at 246 ritch st between bryant st and brannan st and i do believe this is one of their regular spots on wednesday. Â i had the pulled pork sandwich and a side of ribs and what kind of name is the rib whip if you are not going to have amazing ribs? Â they did not disappoint. Â the meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful and the BBQ sauce was damn good. Â at $8 a pop for most of their dishes its not a steal but by all means indulge yourself. Â really.

4. ok this place is kind of far and away tucked in the yuckiness of tourist-ville but do me a favor and ignore the hokey-pokey for some good ass BBQ. Â we got the triple threat which features your choice of any three meats and four sides for $46 at THE PUB AT GHIRARDELLI SQUARE. Â its basically everything but the kitchen sink so you will not leave hungry. Â we sampled the brisket, chicken, pulled pork, cornbread, truffle mac and cheese, candied yams, baked beans, and jalepeno coleslaw. Â again everything but the kitchen sink. Â share with friends.
3. there was so much food at BABY BLUES BBQ that i had to separate the meal into two pictures. Â we ordered the "blue devil" which is any four different meats and three fixins for $34.50. Â not only was the food over the top delicious but they also offer 4-5 different sauces made in house that will knock the socks off of your taste buds. Â all of the meat was cooked to perfection from the brisket to the pulled pork to the huge texas style beef rib and the more normal sized pork ribs, everything was spot on. Â did i mention service with a smile from the super cute bartender? Â you cant go wrong.
2. oh what its like to eat in a dark alley way, across from the hall of justice, and surrounded by bail bond offices on a nice sunny afternoon. Â thats just what i did and i would do it again in a heartbeat to go back to T-DUBS ON FRIDAYS. Â i got the 2-way combo with baby back ribs and brisket for $16.95 which also comes with a choice of two sides so i went with mac and cheese and collard greens, son. Â the bread is bomb.
1. yeah, hey, i know. Â that picture on the right doesnt look like much but it is the single reason i havent stopped thinking about the BBQ at SNEAKYS since the very first week of september. Â it is a premium slab of melt in your mouth kurobuta pork belly that has changed my life forever (side $10). Â go there, order it...do it now! Â the picture on the left is called date night which is fries, beans, brisket, slaw, and sauce all on one plate for $15. Â i ate everything without a date and it was delicious.
BBQ
holy schinikes! i dont know how any one person can eat that much BBQ and still want more at the end of the month. Â i may very well be a three hundred pound man trapped in a little girls body. Â SF is definitely not one of those places that is known for their down home, greasy, meaty, sloppy, fat-filled food options but i scoured the town and came up with a really decent top ten. Â you must try them out or else die a skinny bitch and never know how you missed out on all of this yummy goodness. Â for real.

10. i can still smell my ice cream from POLLY ANN ICE CREAM from here. what a crazy adventure. its pretty far out there in the outer sunset but i do feel like its such an interesting place that i would love to go back again sometime. i knew that i was going there for a flavor called durian which is a fruit from southeast asia that is known for its stink. no really, they keep the container in the back room away from the other flavors because it could ruin the taste. how could i not try it? this little scoop ($2.75) was the single most interesting ice cream flavor i have ever had in my life. but in case you are not feeling ballsy enough to have durian just spin the wheel of 48 flavors and let fate decide.
9. mmmmmm...peanut butter chocolate. JOES ICE CREAM has on average 35 flavors available at all times in addition to sherbets, sorbets, fat-free no sugar added ice cream, and soft serve! and as if that were not enough they also have a grill where you can order real food. p.s. what they call a single scoop is actually two so you can get two different flavors in a "single" and only pay $2.50 for both. such a steal. i love you joe.
