One thing about shoujo is that if you want to get into it now you have to understand that lately there hasnt been nearly as many shoujo animes in production as there are shounen, so to truly appreciate this type of anime you're gonna have to watch older stuff with animation that isn't as impressive or that doesn't look like what you expect from nowadays anime, but is still absolutely stunning in its own way. New shoujo anime are coming out a lot more these past two years, with older anime even getting new adaptations, but we went through a very dry period, and now we gotta make sure the new shoujo coming out can become popular enough that more and more stuff gets adapted
Also, be open to other countries' interpretation of shoujo. I feel like manhwa/manhua (korean/Chinese comics) of isekai can do a really good job sometimes of getting the feels you miss out. I feel as recently there hasn't been as many Japanese shoujo

I loved the contrast to their story showcase compared to zenyuki. It was so interesting to see another noble/commoner relationship that didn't get a happy ending, and ways it was different from main couple.
