| hockey au toji finds out his bum ass cousin cheated on you, and he's not too happy about it. (inspired by bullursjournal on tiktok)
note: a little violent, toji is an ass, naoya is an even bigger ass (who's surprised?), nsfw 18+, minors dni, first attempt at writing smut
. Ęâ âč . Ę âĄ Ę . âč â Ę.. Ęâ âč . ĘË . Ę Ęâ . Ę
to say he was mad was an understatement.
toji was fucking seething, both fists clenched and teeth gritting. if he was a cartoon, there'd be steam coming out of his ears.
he hadn't meant to walk into his slimy cousin talking on the phone with some girl, promising he'd come and fuck her after his big game, that he'd make up some excuse to dodge you.
he was suddenly very thankful he had forgotten his mouthguard in his locker, knowing good and well he was about to fuck naoya zenin up.
how could he go behind your back? cheat on a girl as gorgeous, smart, and authentic as you?
it didn't make sense to him.
but he didn't expect anything more from his lame of a cousin. he was a zenin after all.
toji renounced his last name, not wanting anything to do with his shitty father who cheated on his mom, leaving her to raise him herself.
so much so that he took on a new name: fushiguro, his motherâs maiden name.
slipping his mouth guard on, he took a deep, long breath, and returned back to his team.
toji had been playing hockey since he was a kid, a natural at skating. he was the teamâs best defenseman.
naoya, unlike toji, wasnât recruited. he walked on that year, barely getting any playing time.
they were pretty much estranged, never experiencing anything pivotal together in childhood.
naoya, however, didnât seem to get the message, constantly making poor attempts at talking to his alienated older cousin.
toji tried to focus on the impending game starting in just a few moments. it was important, the whole school would practically be there watching them play the rival team.
but he just couldnât get his mind off of you. how hurt youâd be to find out your loser boyfriend was cheating.
it weighed heavily on him. because he had had you first, before his fucking cousin.
being the screw up that he always is, he fucked it up with you.
he never put in as much effort as you deserved, rarely showing outward affection toward you.
you couldnât take it anymore, the cancelled plans, the one-sided hugs and kisses in public, the non-chalant attitude of his.
it wasnât that he didnât care about you, or love you for that matter.
he just didnât know how to. heâd seen it done in movies, his friends being in relationships too.
but it was different when he was the one in it. it scared him, how much he cared about you, wanted you close to him.
but it wasnât enough.
your poor attempt at a rebound months later landed on none other than naoya zenin.
he had always had his eyes on you since you were with toji. naoya always coveted what toji had.
his looks, his natural popularity, his aura, his athleticism. and you.
and as immature as it was, you wanted to get back at toji, just a little bit.
you didnât understand why he acted the way he did, always scared of showing that he loved you loudly.
it hurt you, made you feel like you werenât good enough for hockey star toji fushiguro. like he was embarassed of you.
you knew getting with naoya would really piss toji off. and it did.
when he found out, he was fucking pissed. for months after your breakup, he hadnât even looked at another girl.
just to find out you were dating his sorta cousin who was a massive dickhead?
even though it started off as a dig toward toji, a part of you still felt something for naoya, regrettably.
it was weird, but you couldnât deny he was attractive. not as handsome as toji, but they were related after all.
and he had some good points. ok, maybe like two. but he wasnât all that important to you.
he wasnât toji.
none of that mattered now, though, toji thought.
he had been disloyal toward you, disrespected you, tried to play you for a fool.
it didnât matter whether you and toji never talked, heâd always be in your corner. till the end of time.
and heâd never say no to socking naoya in the face.
âalright, boys! gameâs starting. all i gotta say is win this shit,â the coach yelled out, gesturing the team to head out to the rink.
the arena was booming, the whole school practically lined the stands with giant foam fingers and signs adorning their hands.
toji ignored all those things, eyes shooting around in an attempt to find your face.
he knew youâd be there to cheer naoya on, despite the fact that he spent most of the time riding the bench.
you were good like that, you wanted to show support. it was the same way when you were dating toji.
his eye finally caught you, face painted with red and white lines, wearing one of naoyaâs spare jerseys.
he wanted so badly to rip that off of you, to tell you what heâd heard.
but he figured heâd show you instead.
the game had begun with an exciting start. toji was starting, per usual.
he glided backward along the blue line, his eyes sharp as the play unfolded in front of him. the puck rattled along the boards toward the point, and he stepped in, stopping it cleanly with his stick before it could slip out of the zone.
an opposing forward rushed him, but he stayed calm, shifting his weight and sending a quick pass down the boards to keep the pressure alive.
he held the line, watching every movement on the ice, ready to drop back the second the play turned the other way.
toji looked up to see your face, your eyes meeting for a split second. you looked away first, slightly embarassed he had caught you staring.
you couldnât help it, though. he was handsome, and amazing on the ice. your eyes naturally gravitated toward him.
the coach suddenly called for a line change, subbing naoya in as one of the forwards.
perfect, toji thought.
tojiâs jaw tightened as he shifted his weight and began gliding backward, tracking the play while keeping naoya in the corner of his vision.
the puck got rimmed hard around the boards and died in the corner.
for a second everyone converged at once, sticks clattering and shoulders knocking together as they fought for it.
toji stepped in, his glove catching the front of naoyaâs jersey and yanking him forward before his shoulder slammed him straight into the glass.
naoya shoved back, confused and aggressive, and that was enough.
toji dropped his stick without a word and grabbed a fistful of his jersey, driving a punch into his ribs and then another into his shoulder while they wrestled against the boards.
skates scraped against the ice as naoya tried to push him off, but toji just hauled him down harder, landing another rough hit.
naoyaâs face was battered and bruised, his nose bleeding an ugly red.
the ref, finally having noticed, pulled a red card, confused as to why toji was actively beating up a member of his own team.
either way, he quickly broke up the adamant toji from disfiguring naoyaâs face any more, a medic quickly rushing over to help him off the ice.
toji was breathing hard, wiping the sweat off his brow and skating backward to the bench, ready for his coach to chew him out.
looking up, he saw your face in utter shock, getting up to see if naoya was alright. your eyes wide, a hand covering your open mouth, jaw slack.
you were appalled at what you had just saw. why was your ex boyfriend beating up your current boyfriend who was also his sorta cousin?
the weirdest part was how you were feeling.
obviously, you were worried about your boyfriend and his semi cute face. it didnât feel good to see him like that.
but another side of you knew better, that toji wasnât aggressive for no good reason.
sure, he was a knucklehead. he got into stupid fights and random arguments by being a hotheaded little shit.
but never did he just go around beating guys up without a purpose.
the game had ended, and tojiâs team had unsurprisingly won.
you saw, out of the corner of your eye, toji getting chewed out by his coach. he had never seen him act this way, and especially at such an important game? oh, he was pissed.
he took it with a straight face, though, nodding his head and agreeing with the various punishments he had lined up for him next practice.
the crowd was buzzing, everyone excited that the team had won the big game. you, however, were looking for your bloody boyfriend.
ânaoya, are you alright?, you asked, rushing over to the stretcher they laid him out on.
he was sitting up as the nurse tended to his facial wounds. he was messed the fuck up.
his eye was a purple hue, clearly bruised, the other a dark blue. his nose was still bleeding, and his jaw was swollen from the hits he took.
it was a good thing he had his mouth guard in, or else he wouldnât have had any teeth left.
âiâm- fine,â he barely said, voice muffled by all the gauzes he had on his face. god, he looked horrible.
âheâs fucking insane- he came out of nowhere with that shit-,â he huffed out angrily, fists clenching.
âitâs okay naoya, just focus on getting better. iâm here,â you kindly said, taking a seat next to him.
âoh, fuck off. just leave me alone- i donât need your pity right now,â he was obviously embarrassed, having gotten his face beaten in by your ex.
ânaoya- what the hell? whatâs your problem? iâm here for you,â you said, annoyed at his attitude. you were just trying to be there for him, for godâs sake.
âand i donât need it. just get the hell out of here, iâll see you later or something,â he mumbled, turning his body away from you.
you huffed, internally cursing. if he wanted you to leave, then fine. youâd leave.
âfine, when you stop being a little shit, call me, you got up and left, making your way to the nearest exit.
as you were exiting the arena, you felt a tap on your shoulder.
âhey,â toji breathed out, hair slightly tousled, wearing a sweatshirt, his bag slung lazily over his shoulder.
âtoji- what the fuck was that today? are you insane?â, your eyes were wide, your tone confused and frustrated.
as if your current boyfriend wasnât enough of a headache.
âno. iâm fine,â he shrugged his shoulders, avoiding your gaze.
âanswer me. why the hell did you do that? he looks terrible!â, you were angry now at his non chalant responses.
he sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets. he had to tell you at some point.
âalright, fine. you wanna know why i did it?â, he asked, voice increasing in volume.
you simply nodded, crossing your arms against your chest, waiting for his response.
toji clicked his tongue, rolling his eyes slightly, âdid it for you,â
you blinked, âwhat the fuck do you even mean by that. i never- thatâs bullshit,â
âheâs cheating on you,â he said bluntly, softly muttering your name at the end of the sentence.
you felt your face warm and your eyes went glassy.
âwhat?â, you let out in a quiet voice, tears brimming the corners of your eyes.
âyeah. i heard him on the phone in the locker room. he was sayingâŠheâd go and fuck her after the game,â he huffed out with a sigh.
âoh,â was all you could say, looking down now. you were speechless.
âhey,â he inched closer, taking your hands into his, âdonât do that- donât cry over that piece of shit,â he sighed.
you couldnât help it. it was your first, and hopefully last, time getting cheated on. and you decided you hated the feeling.
even though naoya wasnât the love of your life, you still thought he cared about you, respected you enough to not be unfaithful.
âhe didnât deserve you. he never did,â he said, thumb brushing against your knuckles, the other brushing away a tear lightly.
you were now in the passenger seat of his car. you didnât know how it even happened, maybe as you were crying into his chest, he somehow led you there.
it brought back a wave of nostalgia, of late night dates, morning drives, and make out sessions in that very car.
âyou okay?â, he looked at you.
âi guess. i⊠knew it was probably something,â you trailed on.
he seemed confused, letting out a small noise, âi just mean i donât think youâd just do that without reason,â
toji hummed, pleased by your words, âi miss you. a lot,â
âtoji,â you started, quickly cut off by his words.
âi know. and iâm sorry,â he sighed, shaking his head.
âiâve thought about this moment a lot. i didnât⊠think iâd have a chance like this. to tell you that i'm sorryâ, you felt a pang in your chest at his apology.
"i shouldâve shown you that i loved you. how much i do love you. i was stupid. and i realized it too late,â he looked down, thumbing at his shirt.
âi hated seeing you with that piece of crap," you softly laughed at that, and a hint of a smile returned to his serious expression.
"i miss you too," his eyes widened, it was like music to his ears, "i'm happy you beat the shit out of him. he deserves it," you inhaled, sniffling a bit.
"damn right he does. i can't believe it," he huffed.
"i mean, he is an ass," you smiled, feeling more at ease.
"yeah, obviously. i just thought he'd at least have enough sense not to cheat on you," he paused, "i mean you're...",
you raised a brow at that, knowing where it was headed.
toji wanted you back, and he was making it clear. your heart felt totally conflicted.
a part of you wanted to launch right back into the relationship with him. you never loved naoya like you loved toji. hell, you didn't love him at all.
he was simply a rebound.
but how could you know for sure toji had changed? that he would change. so far he hadn't promised you anything.
"toji, you know i feel. but we broke up for a reason," you looked away, sighing.
he felt at a loss, "i'll be different this time. i promise. i was a piece of shit, i didn't realize how good i had it. but i wanna try, to treat you how you deserve to be treated. i'll take you out more, i'll be all... pda if that's what you want. at least let me try," his voice slightly raising at the last bit.
"i'll... i'll think about it," you paused, "would you mind taking me home now?",
you could tell he was being genuine, spent a lot of time thinking about it. but a sick side of you wanted to see him squirm a little bit, feel discontent with the lack of conclusion.
he huffed, wanting to argue, to tell you he'd do better, he'd show you his love proudly. that he'd do anything for you this time around.
but he knew better than to press you. if you said you would think about it, he believed you.
shifting his gear to drive, he silently nodded and began heading in the direction of your apartment. one he knew all too well.
"thanks, toji," you smiled softly.
he nodded, running a hand through his hair, "yeah, of course,"
you felt your heart twist and your face warm. seeing him so up close like this, at your front doorstep, brought back memories. you had forgotten just how handsome he was, with his messy raven hair, sharp features, and muscular figure.
"would you... like to come in?", you said hesitantly.
that was how you ended up with your legs spread wide open on those freshly washed flowery sheets of yours.
toji was ravenous, licking and sucking at your clit like a man starved.
since you had broken up with him, he'd stayed abstinent, shamelessly jerking off to your instagram photos you'd upload and old videos he'd taken of you on his phone every night.
to say he was pent up was an understatement.
just from eating you out, he felt his dick harden and strain against his sweat pants.
toji was groaning and moaning into your pussy messily, sending vibrations that had your eyes rolling to the back of your head.
"hnngh- toji", one hand of yours tightly clenched the sheets, the other entangled in his hair.
he hummed, "did he ever do it like this?", slowly pressing a kiss to your clit, delicately tonguing it.
overstimulated from just his mouth, you barely responded, "n-no, he never-", you shook your head, unable to finish your statement.
toji grinned furiously, encouraged by your previous statement, "so i'm the only who's seen you like this then, yeah?", licking up the entirety of it, stopping at the top to place another sloppy kiss to your clit.
vigorously nodding your head was physically the only response you could give in that moment, back arching wildly off the mattress, "only you-,"
his eyes widened at that, dick twitching in his pants painfully, "jesus," he inhaled before diving back in, this time with a passionate fervor.
his tongue was violent, fucking in and out of your hole, while he used his fingers to rub and circle your clit speedily.
"toji- i'm gonna-", you cried out, back arching off the bed, thighs clamped around his head.
he hummed into your pussy, "go ahead, baby," continuing his rapid pace from earlier.
you came with a gutteral moan, your whole body convulsing around his head, caging him in with your thighs.
naoya never went down on you throughout your entire relationship. it was different, to say the least, from when you were with toji.
toji begged to eat your pussy, sometimes that was all he wanted to do. he got off on it, you using his face as a personal fuck toy, riding his tongue till you came again and again.
naoya, on the other hand, only wanted to fuck you face down ass up, with the occasional blow job. you weren't opposed to it, but you definitely missed toji's mouth.
licking his lips, he looked up at you through hooded eyes, "feel good?", he asked, pressing another slow, wet kiss on your clit.
your body, still sensitive, shuddered at the sensation, "mm yes- so good," closing your eyes and nodding your head.
"you came soo fucking quick," he smirked, kissing your inner thigh.
"shut up," you huffed, pushing his head up from your lower body.
toji was smiling, still on his knees in the middle of your bed. he had missed this, missed being with you.
pulling you in for a gentle kiss, he snaked a hand to the back of your head, settling you on his lap. straddling him, you could feel his cock pressing against your core.
he was rock hard at that point, groaning at the contact of you on top of him.
seeing the effect you had on his lower half, you smirked to yourself, grinding slowly over him, hands resting on his shoulders for stability.
"take this shit off," he frantically ripped the jersey off of your torso, huffing angrily at the memory of you excitedly wearing his cousin's jersey.
"calm down," you huffed, rolling your eyes, snaking a hand to your back and unclipping your bra.
"should rip it up, burn it," he said, chucking the jersey to the ground, attention moving to your unclipped bra.
"you're so dramatic," you rolled your eyes, quickly cut off with a small moan at his mouth on your right breast, the other massaging the left.
"not dramatic. i shouldn't have even let you cum earlier," he groaned into your boobs, moving a hand to your back to stabilize your against his greedy mouth.
"toji-", you moaned softly, grinding on his clothed cock, desperate for friction.
"i missed these," he hummed against you, continuing to play with your breasts.
removing his mouth by pushing him away, he now wore a confused expression on his face.
lowering your head, you crawled down to his thighs, and his eyes widened, hips adjusting upwards unintentionally at the lack of contact.
"take these off for me," you whispered, tugging at his sweat pants.
quickly, he took off his sweat pants and threw them to the floor. you cocked your head, smirking at the wet spot on his boxers.
"this too," you gestured to his shirt.
you stretched the waistline of his boxers, taking the chance to run a hand over his toned abs. he was rock solid.
his hard cock sprung out of his boxers, leaking precum.
wanting to tease him, you licked just the tip of it gently, slowly. his fists clawed at your sheets.
"oh, shit," he breathed out as you continued simply licking just at the tip, looking up at him with an innocent expression.
"quit teasing," he huffed, gently wrapping both hands in your hair, egging you to take him even deeper.
rolling your eyes, you took him farther down your throat, tongue swirling around his length, "oh yeah- like that. fuck, i missed your mouth,"
the remaining length you couldn't swallow without gagging hard you left up to your hands, expertly stroking up and down his cock. your tongue continued to swirl around him, sucking harder.
toji was a groaning mess, lightly fucking up into your warm mouth while gently pushing your head down on his length. it didn't hurt, nor did it feel forceful, he just couldn't help it.
"holy shit- i'm- you gotta get off or i'm gonna-," it pained him to do, but he abruptly pushed your head off of him, moments before his climax.
"why'd you do that? was it bad or something-," you huffed out, eyes glassy, red and black blotches of face paint smudged and barely there.
toji thought you were the prettiest this way, taking a moment to admire the fucked out expression you wore on your face.
"hell no, it was amazing. but i don't wanna cum like this," he grabbed your wrist, raising you up from your hands and knees.
"are you still-", he asked softly, hands resting on your sides, rubbing light circles into the skin.
"yeah. i'm on birth control," you replied, intertwining a hand with his.
toji felt his heart race with excitement, smiling tenderly.
you hadn't had something quite as big as toji inside of you for a while.
he was large, in both width and length, stretching you out slowly. "you good?", he choked out, overwhelmed by the tight squeeze of your pussy.
it felt weird, but as he carefully bottomed out, you felt well adjusted, nodding your head, "y-yeah, 'm good,"
"you're soo fucking tight," he huffed out, squeezing his eyes hard shut. toji was focusing on every movement in an attempt to not finish too fast.
the feeling of your pussy around him was too much, too warm, too good. it was going to be difficult, "stop fucking clenching like that, shit," he breathed out.
"can't help it," you moaned, clawing at his back, "you're so big," instantly regretting feeding his already massive ego.
he almost came right then and there from that, a smile reaching his eyes, "yeah? too big for you now? bet he never felt like this- shiiit stop that,"
clenching hard around him, you thrusted your hips up into him, urging him to start moving, "shut up and get on with it,"
his pace was rapid, and you felt as if he was fucking up all the way into your brain at how deep he was hitting, "toji, holy shit- i'm gonna-,"
"me too, baby," he quickened his pace, rolling his hips faster and faster in an attempt to reach both of your highs.
"shit- i can feel you-," he whimpered, almost, at the feeling of your pussy convulsing around his length, helping him reach his high.
he collapsed on top of you gently, elbows on either side of you holding him up from not completely crushing you. you were both breathing heavily, shuddering from the previous sensation.
toji gently leaned in and kissed you softly, anchoring both of you and caressing the side of your face.
he pulled away abruptly, "still thinking about it?", he asked with a shit eating grin, stroking your hair gently.
rolling your eyes, you bit back a smile, "think i'm done now," you said quietly, avoiding his eyes.
"good," he pressed another kiss to your lips, smiling into it, both laughing as he pulled you against him in a tight embrace.
it was settled. you were toji fushiguro's again.

âI just think heâs entitled, is all,â you said, tilting your library chair back slightly, wearing a smug expression on your face.Â
âYou think that about everyone. Is there anyone you donât dislike? And you love talking about this. I hate that frat as much as you do but you talk about it like, all the timeâ Miwa replied, laughing, lacing her hands behind her head.
You scoffed, bringing a hand to your cheek and slouching over your laptop a bit. The three of you had been in the college library for what seemed like ages, finishing up old assignments and studying for your midterm exams right around the corner.Â
Or at least trying to. For the past thirty minutes, you had been discussing the notorious fraternity consistently terrorizing their campus and student body with their annoyingly loud parties and disgustingly large egos.Â
âI guess, bro. I just⊠that Sukuna guy. Heâs soâŠya know?â you ruminated, not truly being able to put your thoughts about the fraternity member into a fully conceivable idea.Â
The truth was, you had never even spoken to the guy. Heâd popped up around campus frequently the past two years, and youâd created this parasocial idea of the type of person heâd be. Spoiled, entitled, rich, obnoxious, ran-through. These five things you solidified as the quality of his character without having once spoken to him.
You knew what kind of guys you despised pretty well. Guys who thought women were disposable. You could tell they did, off the bat, when theyâd endlessly change the woman they were pursuing, never being able to commit their hearts to one or the other. Guys who grew up wealthy, comfortable even. These men often never experienced struggle or burden in their lives, which bothered you. It made them inconsiderate, is what you told yourself.
Utahime hummed in response, a breathy laugh escaping her. âYeah, youâre right. You should hear the shit Shoko says about their president.âÂ
Toji Zenin. Frat president. Buff, football star, bonehead, womanizer. If Sukuna boiled y/nâs blood, Toji vaporized it.Â
Miwa laughed, leaning back. âHeâs such an ass. Ya know Sarah told me he chased after her for like a week straight. Finally gave in and fucked him. Her ass was blocked the morning after.â
You just sighed.Â
â
It was an early morning in February, and so far, the new semester had been kicking your ass. The campus gym was where you spent most of your mornings as the receptionist. It was an easy enough job; you would just sit there and pretend to ensure everyone scanned their membership card. Easy sixteen bucks an hour.Â
This particular morning, though, you had an economics test right after your shift you forgot about. Usually, you would simply take out your laptop and notes and study right there during your morning shift at the front desk when the manager wasnât there. He usually wasnât. But of course, the one day you desperately needed to study, he decided to be present.Â
âHey, would you mind going to fix the dumbbell free weight section, hm? Itâs so messy. Youâve been up here just sitting for a while,â the manager asked with a pursed expression and a half-demanding tone.Â
Begrudgingly you muttered a quiet âyeah of courseâ and headed over to the dumbbell section. It was a mess, the fifteen pound weights were nowhere to be found and the weights above thirty seemed to be mismatched amongst themselves. Of course you thought, men can never do anything right.Â
Then you saw him. Sukuna Ryomen. He was wearing a long sleeve black shirt that was compressing his toned figure flatteringly. On the bottom he was sporting a pair of grey sweatpants and his pink mop was messy and down, not in its usual spiky updo.Â
He looked good, you thought. You hated thinking that whenever youâd see him during work, but disregarded it as human instinct. There was no denying he was a conventionally attractive male. You couldnât fight the science of attractive features and body parts. Sukuna Ryomen was attractive. Objectively. Yeah.
Your eyes locked for a split second, and he flattened his mouth into a small line, offering a small smile while raising his eyebrows. You returned his polite gesture and began looking for the fifteen pound dumbbells.Â
You hated it when you got affected by the small things guys did like that. Especially a guy like Sukuna. You claimed to hate him and talked a good game, but⊠when youâd have these small interactions, if you could even call it that, with him during work. It made you nervous. You hated it.Â
They were under the pullup machine. Wow, you thought. It irked you when people wouldnât just put the stuff they used back in the original spot. It was simple gym etiquette. And it made so much work for the staff. For you.Â
Lugging the fifteen pounders back to the original spot, you noticed the rest of the dumbbells had already been rearranged in the proper order. Huh? You thought, that stuff was all mismatched just a minute ago. DidâŠÂ
Sukuna had already moved from the freeweight section to the shoulder press machine. You looked over to that area, bewildered. There was no one else in the section, it had to have been him. Nice. Heâs capable of⊠doing something nice. Sometimes. I guess.Â
A light blush creeped onto your face. Very light, nothing crazy. Again, you hated feeling like this, but it was a nice gesture. You mosied back to the receptionist area and sat, dazed for a bit. He was actually kind of nice? Heâs⊠no heâs a rich entitled piece of shit. But he is an econ major so he⊠wait econ. Econ test. You suddenly snapped back into reality. You had a damn test in less than two hours. And you were thinking about Sukuna Ryomen.Â
You looked around and your boss was nowhere to be spotted. On the rare days heâd pop in, he usually left around that time, anyway, to grab a late breakfast and wouldnât come back. Alright, nowâs the time to strike. You pulled out your laptop from your backpack and notepad and began going through the review guideâs concepts one by one. Itâs okay, econâs pretty easy. I can⊠just recall everything from the past month, yeah.Â
Thirty minutes hadnât even passed and your boss was already walking through the door. Shoot, he never does that.Â
âWhat are you doing? Are you on your phone? At work?â your boss questioned. He was angry, orange juice and half eaten bagel in hand. There was a strict no phone policy at work. Sigh.
âIâm- sir I am so sorry. I just- itâs not busy right now so I just thought- I was only using it to do flashcards I promise! I wasnât doing anything inappropriate- and I only brought it out to study for a test-âÂ
âNo. We have a strict no phone policy. We just got a new hire anyway, and Iâve been thinking of sizing down our staff. You donât really put in great availability anyway. Youâre fired. Iâm sorry.âÂ
Shoot.
â
The rain was unforgiving that day. You trudged out of Ernold Hall. Convinced you had just failed that last test. The sky had gone a dark grey and the clouds filled the sky completely. Indefinitely. No umbrella, wearing nothing water resistant from head to toe, your backpack feeling way heavier than usual. You thanked God that you didnât have any other classes that day.
There were tears in your eyes. Not premature or pattering. They were falling relentlessly. You didnât really do it often, you prided yourself on being sensible. Not really emotional. The rain was helping mask it at least, the salty taste on your tongue was a mystery.Â
That desk job was one of three jobs that you had. That, doordashing, and some shitty peanut shop job that really only old white folk who lived at the senior home near the campus would go to. And you needed the money, as much as you hated to admit it or talk about it.Â
After what felt like an eternity, you reached your dorm.
âY/n? Are you okay, oh my God. You look like⊠you just went to war. Wha- wait are you crying?â, Utahime rose from her position on her bed, rushing to your aid. You did look like shit, actually. Your hair that was previously in a nice half-up half-down hair style was completely disheveled and your eyes were painted red.Â
She caressed your shoulder, and her girlfriend Shoko followed closely behind. âYeah oh my God are you okay?â, as she kneeled down to hug your side. Shoko and Utahime often hung out in your shared dormitory. You never really minded, you werenât there the majority of the time anyway. You really liked Shoko, even becoming mutual friends along the way. But you could never really get close with her. Shoko was a close friend of the fratâs. Apparently sheâd been close with Gojo and Geto back in high school, so she was always hanging around them and attending their events and parties. Nonetheless, you liked her. She treated Utahime really well, and she was always kind to you, therefore you embraced the couple with open arms, allowing them to spend time in your shared space.Â
âYeah. Yeah, Iâm fine,â you sighed through your nose. âActually, no Iâm not. I just- I lost my job at the fitness center. My fucking boss fired me because he caught me doing Quizlet flashcards for my econ test. And heâs never even there but the one damn day I decide to bring out my phone!â, you exclaimed, throwing up your hands and quickly using them to cover your face in distress.Â
âWhat? Thatâs- Iâm so sorry. I know⊠I know you really needed it. Ugh, wait I heard Moâs is hiring?â, Utahime offered while rubbing the small of your back. She was one of the two people who really knew about your shitty financial and family background. She knew you really needed it.Â
You rose from the ground, flopping onto your bed in your wet outerwear, not really giving a shit. Wailing into the pillow, you screamed and cussed. Utahime and Shoko nervously looked at one another, thinking of the right course of action.Â
âDamn he sounds like an asshole. Whyâs he care so much?â, Shoko asked, trying to empathize with the situation at hand.Â
You sighed, âI donât even know. All I know is I need another job. Like bad. The peanut gig and the doordashing pay is so ass compared to the fitness center. And I barely even had to do shit there. Iâm so stupid.âÂ
Utahime came to your side and gently sat you up at the edge of the bed. They both hummed in response, unsure of what to say. They were in the middle of watching Past Lives. They rewatched that movie almost twice a month since freshman year, and you were confident at that point you could recite every line in the movie.Â
A lightbulb lit up in Shokoâs head. âWait! I got an idea. Like actually.â she exclaimed, rushing to the other side of you from Utahimeâs desk chair. You and Utahime wore a confused but anticipating expression.Â
âI have this friend of a friend. Apparently he really needs help in Calc 1. Like bad. Heâs taking it for the second time as a sophomore and if he fails then he gets kicked off some shit or something. And dude I heard heâs looking for a paid tutor. Said the ones his teacher recommended from the honor society werenât thorough enough or something. I know itâs not as steady as the fitness center but just for now before you can find something worth your while!â Shoko said, growing louder and more wide eyed after each sentence.Â
Utahimeâs smile grew and her body jerked toward yours excitedly, âWait, this is really good! Y/n youâre cracked at calc you helped us all last year, remember? You basically carried me, Shoko, and Miwa through it.âÂ
It was true, you were really good at calculus. You had taken some calculus in high school, and really enjoyed it. There were countless late nights where the three of you guys, or four if the unit was truly difficult of you teaching integration, series, and continuity late into the night with the libraryâs communal white board. You werenât a genius by far. Through hard work and studying, though, you genuinely learned the materialâs ins and outs.Â
Out of desperation, you replied, âOh my God, yes. Thank you Shoko. One hundred times yes Iâll do it. Do you have his contact info, or?âÂ
âHmm, wait let me just text my friend to let him know. Heâll probably just set up the first meeting through me, so Iâll let you know!â, Shoko replied while taking out her phone to notify her friend of the new found tutor.Â
âOkay, thanks!â, you excitedly said. Things were looking up for you, a job as a tutor? Light work. You had always liked to teach others, you would do it all the time throughout high school for various honor societies. To get paid for it sounded too good to be true, especially for something as effortless as Calc 1. But just for the money. Shit, you really needed the money. And just for a bit until you find a steady, good job. Right?Â
âÂ
The Stohess library was the decided meeting spot. West wing. Room 201. Second floor. The room with only one comfy chair and the juiciest white board markers. 12 pm.Â
Shoko had let you know when the tutee could and wanted to meet up. You had decided upon the place, though. It was your favorite room in the entire library. Perfect for two people. The upward wing was a very quiet, professional, polished space. All the rowdy groups just looking to hangout with studying as an excuse for it were downstairs. You wanted to do real work, and maintain a professional environment for the tutoring session to set the tone. It was a guy after all, and you didnât feel the desire to make any new guy friends. Or any for that matter.Â
You wore a casual outfit: jeans, a sweat shirt, and your puffer coat on top. Organic chemistry was the class you had previously, and you were eager to get into the basics and âelementaryâ aspects of Calc 1.Â
The other night you had attempted to review a bit of Calc 1, estimating what unit they would be in at that point of the year. Rieman sums, if you remember correctly.Â
11:53 am. You arrived at the room. No one seemed to be inside yet. Signing your name on the reservation sheet, you entered, placing your backpack down and claiming the comfy chair as your own.
You had written some notes on Rieman sums the other night quickly, so you sprawled them out neatly in front of you. With some time to spare, you decided upon testing out the different dry-erase markers. Mm they added a pink one.Â
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. You turned back from your giddiness to see⊠Sukuna Ryomen? What the hell?Â
Your eyes widened, but slowly you made your way to the door. Through the glass, you could see him wearing the same expression as you were. Bewildered.Â
âUh. Hey? Sorry this room is reserved.â, you said quietly. Politely.Â
âOh. Iâm⊠here for a tutoring session. Youâre y/n?,â he said. His eyes were still widened, his eyebrows raising slightly while uttering the sentence. He didnât exactly wear a smile; his lips were pursed into an awkward line and he was fiddling with the hem of his shirt.Â
He was the person you were supposed to be tutoring? You felt your heart race and your face slightly heat at the revelation. For what seemed like an entire minute you stood there with a raised eyebrow, looking up at him. You were confused, but you knew one thing for sure. You were going to kill Shoko.Â
Snapping back into reality, you broke eye contact with him and replied, âOh. Yeah thatâs me. Sorry letâs- uh,â you said, awkwardly cracking open the door and gesturing for him to come in.Â
âSo⊠you need⊠help with calculus.â you stated, laughing breathily at the end of your sentence. God, why were you being so awkward about this? Itâs just the guy you had one-sided beef with and whose fraternity you consistently talked shit about. And maybe you saw at the gym almost everyday at your old job. And maybe⊠did a nice thing that day you got fired.Â
âOh. Yeah. Iâm pretty shit at it. And⊠I donât know. The tutors my profs keep recommending me from the honor societies only do it for hours. They donât really care, just confuses me more.â he said while taking a seat across from your chair. He looked good in this light. You saw him during classes from afar, usually. It was different from the gym, he seemed a lot more homely this way. His cheeks were slightly flushed pink from the cold winter air, and he was wearing black jeans with a navy quarter zip and white undershirt.Â
âAlright. Thatâs okay. Uh⊠well. Itâs nice to meet you. Iâm y/n. And you?,â you asked. You had realized how stupid that had sounded. You had been in a couple of his classes up until that point, and you saw him almost every day at the gym. He was also extremely well-known amongst the student body. Everyone in that God awful fraternity pretty much was. But of course, you couldnât let him get the satisfaction of being known. Known instantly because of his social status, so you pretended to be ignorant to it all. I mean⊠he said your name earlier like it was a question. He clearly didnât know who you were.Â
He straightened up a bit, the ghost of a smile on his lips. His eyes widened in what seemed like surprise. That asshole, you thought. âOh.â smiling, but not letting it reach his eyes in between. âYeah, I know. Iâve seen you around. And Iâm Sukuna. Sukuna Ryomen.â he said the last bit with a nod. He seemed more taken aback that you thought he didnât know your name than the opposite.Â
Your lips pressed into a small line in response, feeling the heat rise to your face all over again. It was increasingly hard to make direct eye contact with him while he was speaking to you, especially in that across from seating arrangement you two had going. You nodded before answering, âOh, yeah.â with a breathy laugh in between. âSo⊠my friend Shoko told me about the tutoring job. If we could quickly just talk about some of the logistics before we start⊠thatâd be good.âÂ
Remembering the purpose of this all was important, and you were beginning to do so. Who cares if itâs Sukuna Ryomen youâre supposed to be tutoring? How much money is he going to be paying you is the real question at hand. You had snapped back into reality slightly. Great.Â
âYeah, sure. What were you thinking?â, he replied simply.Â
âWell Iâll just be straightforward with you, I guess⊠How much exactly are you thinking and how often do you wanna meet up for this?â, you asked, nodding your head and looking everywhere but him while uttering your question. You always had a bad habit of bobbing your head and talking with your hands.Â
Sukuna didnât look phased by the question, and nodded in response. âWell whatâs your rate? Iâm willing to pay whatever. My friend told me⊠youâre smart and shit. And probably twice a week. My prof does a test at the end of every week so maybe Tuesday and Thursday. That good with you?â, he asked, getting more comfortable in the library chair. He leaned back, slightly parting his legs wider.Â
Damn rich kid. Did he really just tell me to create a rate and heâd pay it? Conceited ass⊠should I just highball it and see what he says? You thought.Â
âUhâŠyeah thatâs fine,â you started, eyes darting around the room. âSo, what about 1,000 bucks an hour, or am I lowballing it,â you asked with a wry smile on your face. Tough crowd.
Your attempt at a joke falls flat momentarily before Sukuna releases a genuine laugh. Breathy, but you can tell itâs a real one. He liked it.Â
âHmm⊠maybe just a little. Must be some premium tutoring services.â he said with a small smirk on his face. It wasnât a cocky smirk of that sort, but a boyish, playful one. It almost warmed your heart. Almost.Â
You laughed quietly, but responded promptly, âFor sure. But⊠maybe like forty an hour? If thatâs too much Iâm willing to negotiate. Itâs just what⊠I used to charge when I tutored kids in high school so-â you said, lying straight through your teeth. Maybe that was a bit of a highball amount, but it was worth a try. Especially after the 1,000 dollar offer.Â
âYeah, sure. Thatâs fine.â he cut you off. He didnât seem bothered by the price. In truth, Sukuna didnât regard money in the same way as you did. He simply needed a tutor of quality, and Shoko described you as that and more. So one hundred less dollars in his pocket each week didnât seem to phase him.Â
âOkay. And yeah we can do Tuesday and Thursday. I was thinking we could spend maybe an hour and a half or two hours for each session? It really depends on the day, we can play it by ear.â you replied quickly. You werenât getting comfortable with him per se, but now that the talk of payment and such were out of the way you were more at ease about the situation.Â
âYeah, letâs do that. Thanks, by the way.â he said, eyes darting up and finding yours. He was lightly drumming the table with his fingers.
âYeah, sure. So⊠I took some notes the other day. You guys should be on Rieman sums right now, yeah? What exactly are you struggling with?â, you asked, gesturing to the papers you laid out on the desk.
âYeah thatâs what weâre on. Iâm pretty shit at all of it. But especially this unit. Just donât get it, hereâs my mini quiz we did the other day.â he said with a small laugh while rummaging through his backpack for the small sheet of paper. He didnât seem to have any folders or a sense of organization for his backpack which was red and decorated with chains. Checks out.Â
Holy shit. He really is shit at this. The mini quiz had a total of four problems, and there were bright red marks on all four of them. On none of the problems did he use the appropriate formulas or methodology which caused him to earn basically zero points. Jesus.Â
âOh. Uhâ, you exhaled breathily. It sounded almost like a laugh.Â
âYeah I know. Told ya.â, he replied, noting your reaction.Â
âWell⊠I think the main problem is your lack of foundational knowledge. You donât know the formula to use to solve the problems or how to set them up so⊠you canât really solve the problem. Here, look at this.â, you said gesturing toward your notes sheets you sprawled on the table.Â
He shifted his attention to the notes sheets, eyes scanning each one with a confused-like expression.Â
âSee here,â you said, grabbing the first sheet. âThis sheet has the formulas you use based on the type of Riemann sum it is. Right, left, mid, general, and trapezoidal for the basic ones. Just take a look at those and write them down in your journal while I create some practice problems where you can use those formulas,â you said while getting out your laptop to find some example problems. This was the method you had used when helping Utahime, Shoko, and Miwa, and it always helped them a lot. Taking a concept they were struggling with, dissecting what was the main part confusing them, creating a notes sheet, rewriting that information, and then practicing using it on problems youâd create. Itâs how you learned difficult concepts, too.Â
âOkay,â he replied while grabbing a journal and a pencil from his bag.Â
You had finished creating the practice problems, and he had written down all the formulas countless times. When you gave him the problem sheet, he slowly but surely was able to get through and correctly solve the majority of them. With your assistance, of course. But, it was progress nonetheless.Â
The session was coming to an end, and both of you were packing up your materials. Surprisingly, Sukuna was a good student. He did as he was told, and seemed like he was capable of making progress. You wondered why the hell he was trying so hard.Â
âYouâre pretty good at this.â he said with a half smile plastered across his face. It was an attempt at breaking the deafening silence after the last problem was done.Â
âOh,â you said with a small smile. âThanks. I helped my friends a lot with it last year, so I have some experience.âÂ
âMm, yeah I can tell. Have to get through this shit or else theyâre gonna kick me out of the frat. Minimum GPA bullshit.â, he said while hoisting his bag on his shoulder. You almost forgot he was a part of that God awful frat during the session. He was so.. civilized.Â
Your eyes widened instinctively. You were surprised that frat, the one full of notorious dumbasses had a minimum GPA requirement. Damn, even they had standards. Although, they were probably pretty low.Â
As if he could read your expression, he released a breathy laugh and looked down at the ground momentarily. âYeah, even we have a minimum GPA requirement. Itâs pretty low, though. Math has just never been my strong suit.âÂ
âOh, I can tell. At first, I thought the red pen had to have been you or something. Itâs all over your quiz.â you joked. Did you really just say that? Are you joking around with Sukuna Ryomen right now?Â
He liked it, nonetheless. That boyish smirk returned to his face, and he replied, âHey, I warned ya. Youâre lucky Iâm stupid, itâs keeping you in business.âÂ
âTrue.â you stated, opening the door and walking out of the room. He followed close behind as you two walked down the stairs of the library. It was quiet for a moment as the two of you were crossing the West Wing, full of business meetings, quiet study halls, and other tutoring sessions. Quiet, professional. Just like you two. Kind of.Â
As you both approached the stairs and began descending, he decided to break the silence. âCoud I get your number, by the way? Just in case we gotta reschedule or something.â he said while rubbing the back of his neck. It was a normal course of action, you couldnât keep communicating through Shoko or Gojo or Geto. Or whoever the hell.Â
âOh, yeah. Here it is,â you said, entering your number in his phone. This was weird. You hated him. Of course he didnât know that, but you hated him. So much. You hated his fraternity and all of his⊠bullshit. But to his face you were nothing but polite. Chicken.Â
âAlright, Iâll see ya Thursday then. Same time and place.â, he stated, offering a quick wave and heading off in the opposite direction.Â
You waved back, murmuring a quick bye.Â
âÂ
âShoko!â you yelled out even before entering your dorm. You were going to kill her.
You opened the door and sure enough, her and Utahime were sprawled on the bed, eating snacks and watching Wicked. Cute. I mean⊠youâre sure Utahime had let it be known you hated the frat. Itâs why Shoko never talked about their events or Geto and Gojo when you were around. But you also knew she suggested it because you really needed the money.Â
They both looked up at you, wide-eyed and confused as to why you were shouting Shokoâs name from outside of the dormitory.Â
âWhy didnât you tell me the person Iâd be tutoring would be Sukuna Ryomen?â you said while dramatically covering your face with your hands and face planting on your comforter. It was like your default reaction when something humiliating or embarrassing happened to you.Â
Both their faces shifted to a confused expression. Shoko spoke first, âDude what?â, she barked out with a laugh. âHoly shit. Ryomenâs the guy youâre tutoring? My money was on Hakari,âÂ
Utahime sighed, âSukuna? Dude, you hate him.â Utahime said, joining you on the bed where you faceplanted. Still face down.Â
You sprung up. âWait, Shoko. You had no idea. Zero idea itâd be Sukuna?â you asked. No way she had zero idea. You pieced it together that the friend was probably Geto or Gojo that had asked her about it. Not that you cared that much. She helped you get a job after all, you were just confused.
âNope. I mean I had a few guesses but I never thought Ryomen would be the one. Thought he was decent. Decent enough to not need a tutor and retake fucking Calc 1!â, Shoko couldnât stop laughing. Her face was practically red at that point and there were actual tears brimming in her eyes.Â
âHell no. Heâs horrible. You shouldâve seen his mini quiz. Red marks all over, he didnât get a single question right.â you huffed out.Â
Utahime sighed and rubbed the small of your back. She did that a lot. âIâm sorry y/n. That sucks⊠I know how much you hate him. How was it? Whatâs he willing to pay, at least?â, she questioned.Â
âWell⊠yeah I do hate him. But heâs not⊠heâs alright. In that setting at least. He was at least willing to learn. And heâll pay me forty an hour.â you said, almost tripping over your words. You were telling the truth, though. Sure, you hated him and all that he stood for. You hated how he was in that damn fraternity, and he was the epitome of the guy you hated. In your head at least. But⊠as a tutee. You had no real complaints.Â
âShit, forty bucks is pretty good. Hey, arenât you glad I got you the gig?â Shoko nudged you playfully.Â
You snorted at that, âMaybe not glad. But⊠forty bucks an hour is forty bucks an hour.âÂ
âYeah. And honestly? Ryomenâs like the tamest one out of all them. You lucked out. If it was Toji or Hakari you wouldâve been deep fried. Theyâre like asshole assholes.â she said. I mean, what she was saying wasnât exactly wrong. Compared to the other members of the fraternity, Sukuna was considerably⊠kinder than the rest of them.Â
âAsshole by association!â you and Utahime both shouted in unison. The three of you burst out into a quick fit of laughter after.
She meant well.Â
âÂ
The next day, you had a morning class. Bio 101. Pretty easy. That part of your day would be the seemingly effortless part. The difficult bit came after.Â
There was a six hour shift at that peanut shop lined up for you after your class. In your backpack you had your uniform perched in a small drawstring bag at the bottom pocket. The uniform was what you hated most with the stupid visor and collared shirt. Even the belt and shoes had to be in unison. It was very goofy-looking. You were lucky only old people came to the establishment.Â
The work wasnât particularly difficult, just tedious. There was a lot of clean up involved, and it was disgusting. The flakes from all the nuts would get everywhere and youâd have to sweep it all up constantly. Why did people even go there?Â
After your shift, you finally changed out of your God awful uniform and checked your phone. There were the usual messages from the group chat you had with Miwa and Utahime, just asking what the assignment was in Org Chem. Individual texts from Miwa asking what the hell happened with Sukuna Ryomen at the tutoring session. And⊠a text from Sukuna Ryomen himself? What the hell?Â
You clicked on his message first, curious as to what he could be asking. You assumed he was prompting you to cancel or reschedule the tutoring session.Â
Sukuna: whatâs up
Sukuna: i got a question
God, you hated when people stated that they had a question rather than just straight up asking their question. Another reason he was⊠annoying.Â
You: Yeah, sure what is it?Â
You could see the bubbles indicating he was actively responding.
Sukuna: how do i set up an interval that doesnt start at 0
Wow. A question he could fully google. And he was asking you. After your six hour shift. You sighed in response, but ended up sending a long explanation summing it up to him.Â
Sukuna: alr thank youÂ
You didnât respond and left it that, not knowing what to say other than a one word response like, âYeahâ.Â
On the bus back to the dormitory, you were listening to your nightly playlist. Suddenly, you felt another vibration come from your phone. You checked it. It was Sukuna.Â
Sukuna: btw i havent been seeing u at the gym
Sukuna: didnt u used to work at the front deskÂ
Oh. He actually noticed that back then? It wasnât all in your head then. He noticed and remembered you worked there. Well, I mean. Heâs not stupid he can put two and two together. Not⊠anything to get excited over.Â
You: Oh yeah they fired meÂ
Sukuna: damn sorry ab thatÂ
Sukuna: so im the replacement job thenÂ
You found yourself cracking a smile at that second message. Smiling at your phone.Â
You: You are
You: So far the desk job was way easierÂ
Sukuna: oh yea?Â
Sukuna: then im doing my job correctlyÂ
What does that even mean?Â
âÂ
The next day, you met him at the library at 12 pm sharp. He was already there, surprisingly waiting outside of the meeting room. You despised tardiness, so you secretly appreciated his punctuality. So far. I mean it was only the second session.Â
âYo,â he greeted with a small wave upon seeing you. He was dressed very casually in a sweat shirt and jeans.Â
You murmured a small hey and he opened the door, allowing you to head inside first. You felt some heat rising to your cheeks. You had spent the previous night messaging him back and forth until one in the morning. It was different. You never talked to guys very much, even in high school. It was exciting. Until you reminded yourself this was a frat guy you were messaging. But a small part of you enjoyed the banter you both had. If you could even call it that. For lack of better words, you enjoyed the conversation you had with him.
âSo, you have your test tomorrow, right?â, you asked, reaching into your backpack for your notes and computer. He let you take the comfy chair. Nice.Â
âYeah. I think itâll be fine. I just have a few areas that Iâm still pretty weak in. Itâs really just the trapezoidal ones and midpoint.â he stated, gathering some of his notes and problems he did the other night you assigned.Â
âAlright let me look over the ones I assigned, and you can start on these. Pages 3-7 are trapezoidal and midpoint related so do those first.â you stated, grabbing your favorite red pen to grade the problems you assigned.Â
âYeah, okay.â he said with a small smile. Again with that boyish smile. He looked at you for a bit longer before starting on the problems. Just long enough that you didnât notice it.Â
The rest of the tutoring session had gone like normal. Surprisingly, he didnât get the entirety of the practice problems you assigned wrong. Mostly correct, which you were satisfied with. He was right in his identification of weak spots, as those were really the only problems he was getting wrong. After going through the worksheets, though, he seemed to have partially got it. It was a start.Â
As you were packing up, he started, âSo. What do you do? Now that the gym fired you.â he said, almost awkwardly. Sukuna Ryomen wasnât awkward. Ever. He was confident, sure of himself. Never stuttering over his words. His position, his wealth, his friends afforded him the level of confidence he wore like an armor.Â
You laughed breathily, eyes squinting a bit, âWhat do you mean?â you asked, fully knowing what he meant by the question. He wanted to know more about you, about your hobbies, about what you spend your time doing. That was his way of asking.Â
âYou know⊠what do you do with all your time? I told you Iâm in the frat. You tell me something about you.â he said while squeezing his journal into the side pocket of his impractical backpack.Â
âMmm well I study. I hang out with my friends. Or I go to work. Those three things are âwhat I doââ you said with a small smile, hoisting your backpack onto your shoulders.Â
He looked like he already knew that would be your answer by the look he had on his face. It was that boyish smile yet again. âYouâre friends with Shoko, right?â, he asked.Â
You nodded in response.
âYeah, sheâs cool. She comes around a lot to the frat when we have parties and shit. Never seen you there.â he said. The last part came out a little different from the rest. It wasnât accusatory or berating. It was⊠shy?Â
Your lips lightly part, thinking on what to even say. You hated their frat. Despised it. Out of pure principle you never attended any of their parties. You donât know if Utahime and Miwa didnât go because they agreed with you or how much they knew you hated it, but they never really went either. It was lame, it was stupid. Why would you go somewhere that had alcohol and insufferable guys that were so⊠gross when you didnât drink and you sincerely hated all of them. All of it and what they stood for.Â
The short answer was, âOh, yeah. I guess I never got the chance.â you said, coming off shortly. Not really meaning to. But it truthfully boiled your blood thinking about attending a frat party. Maybe you were just sensitive. No, probably not that.Â
He just nodded, gesturing you to walk out the door with him. He was seemingly understanding about a lot of stuff you said. He knew when to be cheeky and when to just⊠shut up.Â
âÂ
Today had marked one month of tutoring Sukuna Ryomen, and it had thus far been going swimmingly. He was slightly improving on each test. Week by week, heâd come and show you his slightly less red quiz.Â
The pay was helping a bit too. It wasnât quite as stable as your job at the fitness center, but it was good for now. You were dashing more and picking up more shifts at the peanut shop. Money was alright.Â
A total of seven meetings had perspired, each one increasingly more personal than the last. Along with the increase in conversation, he hadnât been shy digitally. Almost daily heâd find some excuse to message you about a calculus question he very well could have googled.Â
But it never went past a few questions and small talk. He wasnât pushy about your personal life, really. During sessions, heâd make simple conversation about your shared classes, how the professor was barely hanging onto life itself. Heâd poke fun at the kid who always came in looking stupidly high. Mindless, impersonal jokes. Jokes that you couldnât help but laugh at and add onto.Â
âHey, ya know what we should do for lunch today?â, Miwa asked, rolling around in your comforter. It was difficult to hang out formally with your schedule. With the additional tutoring sessions twice a week and extra shifts and dashing you took on to compensate allowed you little leisure time. Therefore, Miwa had been making a conscious effort to come and lounge around in your shared dorm.Â
Utahime hummed without looking up, turning a page in her book. âWhat?âÂ
âWe should go to Moâs and get brunch. Whenâs the last time we did that, hm? You guys donât have any classes today, right?â Miwa asked excitedly, her blue pig tails bouncing as she sat up in the bed.Â
âShit, I canât. I gotta tutor Sukuna at noon, remember?â you groaned. In front of those two, you acted like tutoring Sukuna was worse than death itself. Everytime you mentioned you were off to a session, you groaned and dragged your feet. A part of you enjoyed it, though.Â
Miwa and Utahime groaned in response. âOh, right. Sorry I forgot.â, Miwa said sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck. They both returned to what they were previously doing, reading and doomscrolling.Â
âYa know, Shoko invited me to this⊠thing tomorrow night. Some small party. Iâm thinking about going, you guys wanna come?â Utahime asked, putting her book down and moving to grab her phone.Â
âHm? What kind of party? Is it down at the bar or something?â, you asked.Â
âNo⊠itâs a frat party. But, okay hear me out! Shoko said itâs a mixer with Kappa Delta or some shit. We have some friends in that. And itâll be fun.â she pleaded, typing on her phone and looking up for approval. She was likely texting Shoko. âPlease. Shokoâs been bugging me to come to one of these things and I donât wanna go without you guys.âÂ
You sighed, pondering the idea. The idea of going to a small party was enticing, for sure. Often you wondered if you were robbing yourself of a normal college experience full of alcohol, hookups, and of course: frat parties. You had gone to a few small parties at some random girl or guyâs dorm and gone to the bar for Halloween last year. If that even counts. The fantasy of being a regular young adult exploring herself at university was fleeting, one you felt for a split second you might indulge in.Â
Sukuna Ryomen. Heâd likely be there. You did wonder how he was in his natural habitat. What was he like? Was he drinking excessively? Was he hooking up with every sorority girl in his sight? What was he wearing?Â
Quickly, you snapped back into reality. Tomorrow night was Friday. Friday night was the best night for DoorDashing. Shit, why did you have to be so damn responsible?Â
âIâm down. Iâve lowkey been wanting to go, heard they have good shit there if you know what I mean,â Miwa said with a laugh. âY/n, donât leave me hanging,â she said with a pout, turning toward you.Â
âShit, sorry guys. Tomorrowâs Friday. You know what that means,â you said with a smile, rubbing your hands together mischievously. A small attempt to mask your disappointment.Â
âOh, right. You know what, maybe I wonât even go. It feels wrong for us to be at some shitty party while youâre getting your money up. Weâll do what we did last Friday, weâll come with you while you dash,â Utahime said with an understanding smile, typing something on her phone and looking up.Â
âYeah! The weed probably isnât even that good anyway-â Miwa started.Â
âNo, itâs okay, guys. Seriously. Itâs just a rough patch right now. My familyâs been having a rough month, so⊠I gotta send a little more back. After this week and the next, Iâll probably lay off the dashing,â you started, rewetting your lips. âBut Iâll be mad if you guys donât go. Shoko needs some company. Plus, I get more dashing done without you guys, anyway. Too distracting,â you said with a laugh.Â
Utahime and Miwa briefly glanced at one another, but settled into a light laughter. âAlright, fine. Iâll make sure to send all the photos of Miwa high out of her damn mind.â Miwa laughed hard at that, clutching the comforter to her chest.Â
âGreat. I look good when Iâm high.â she said with a giggle. âY/n, you should probably get going. Already 11:56.â Miwa said glancing at her phone.Â
Shit.
You quickly gathered your backpack, threw on your coat, yelling a quick âBye!â out the door.Â
âÂ
He was already waiting inside the room, sitting on the hard plastic chair as usual. His hair was slightly disheveled and he looked like he had come from some strenuous physical activity judging by his outfit. A long sleeve compression shirt ran along his upper, a pair of⊠running shorts? And a duffle bag at his side.Â
Out of breath, you apologized, âHey, sorry- Iâm late.âÂ
Looking down at his phone, he read out, â12:11 pm. Eleven minutes late. I think I know what that calls for, hm?â, he said with a playful smirk on his face. He was beginning to wear that expression with each session.Â
You huffed a small laugh while placing your bag down and settling in the chair, catching your breath. âWhat? Do I owe you a Coke now or something?â, you asked jokingly, fishing your material for him out of your front pocket.Â
âNope. When Iâm late to practice I do a pushup for each minute I was late. So drop and give me eleven.â he said, dead serious. You wore an amused expression, wondering if he was being sincere or making a poor attempt at a bit.Â
Sukuna widened his eyes and shrugged his shoulders, urging you to go on. He canât be serious.Â
âNot doing that. You can do eleven extra problems, though,â you said with a small smile, organizing your worksheet you curated for him.Â
He let out a small surprised huff, eyes widening, âThatâs not fair. Iâve never been late once. Not once,â Sukuna said, emphasizing his pointer finger, waving it in your face playfully.Â
âWell this isnât football practice, is it? Iâm your tutor.â you said matter of factly. âBut⊠fine. Iâll do you 1.1 favors instead. Fair?â you questioned with a small smile, tilting your head slightly while making eye contact.Â
âWell, shit. Youâre spoiling me. What even is a 0.1 favor?â, he asked with a full smirk now. He thought he was the funniest little shit, you could just see it written all over his face.Â
âNot sure. Iâve practically been handing those out to you daily, answering your questions at your beck and call.â He smiled at the mention of your online communication heâd been initiating.Â
âThanks for doing that. I think itâs really been helping. Look, I almost got a C on my quiz from last week.â he said, pulling out the quiz from last week. Less red.Â
âWow. Great job. Progress. Day one or one day.â you said with a serious expression, nodding while examining his quiz. Recognizing the reference, he laughed. He was doing that a lot recently. Smiling, laughing. It was weird.Â
âYep. I think I know what I want for my favor now, though. If you donât mind.â he asked, tilting his head and putting out his pointer finger. You raised your eyebrows in curiosity, wondering what it could possibly be.Â
âThereâs this event happening tomorrow at the frat. You should come. Shoko will probably be thereâŠâ, he said, drumming his fingers on the edge of the table, looking down nonchalantly. âAnd so will I.âÂ
The last part came out a little quieter. But nonetheless he asked it confidently and now he was making direct eye contact with you.Â
It was probably just a friendly offer. As friends. Or as a⊠tutor? Tutor friend?Â
As if he read your expression, he said, âIâm supposed to invite at least five girls. Shitâs been kinda dead recently so⊠theyâve been wanting to vamp it up. If you can't, it's fine. Iâll save that favor for something else. Maybe math related.âÂ
Oh, so you were just a warm body to increase the perceived popularity of the frat. Cool, cool, cool. You felt a little better about rejecting his very enticing invitation, that you were already offered.Â
âOh. Uh⊠sorry I canât. Iâm⊠going away on Friday for the weekend. Going to visit some family, sorry.â you lied. As much as you hated admitting it, having all those jobs and shit going on embarrassed you. I mean, DoorDash? Really? THAT was the reason you couldnât attend the party. It sounded incredibly lame, and⊠you didnât want Sukuna Ryomen thinking you were more lame than you thought he already thought you were.Â
Is that shallow? Whatever, it was your business anyway. Not like heâd ever see you dashing.Â
âAll good,â he said with a pursed lipped smile. He nodded slightly, acknowledging the awkwardness of the situation.Â
âAnyway⊠I had a few questions on the new unit weâre learning. The test is tomorrow, so I did the review problems from Tuesday. Could we go over numbers 2, 4, and 10?â, he said, clicking his pen and bringing the conversation back to calculus.Â
You nodded your head and adjusted your glasses, focusing in on the problems. âSure, thing.âÂ
Buried in the worksheet, you missed the stare Sukuna gave you when you did that. He felt his face grow warm. His eyes widening slightly, his mouth parting. He liked when you did that a lot.Â
âÂ
âItâs alright, mom. I promise- I donât even like going out. You know Iâve always been like that.â you trailed on. Your mom was always bugging you about working so much.Â
âIâm fine, mom. Itâs not hard work at all, and Iâm doing just fine in my classes. Plus⊠we could use it. Itâs been helping you a lot, donât lie?â, you said with a laugh, attempting to make light of your motherâs nagging.Â
She was worried about you. In truth, she felt incredibly guilty. Growing up, your parents did their best to raise you with what they had. They had a small business and never attended college.Â
You were basically on your own with all things college-related when you were in high school. It was fine, you ended up getting into a great school. A great school that you got a lot of aid for. Everything was seemingly going well, your parents seemed to be settling with the idea that youâd be going away for school.Â
Right before you were about to leave for school last August, though, your father had a serious back injury. It permanently disabled him, and he was no longer able to work. All the medical bills and the burden of being the sole worker weighed heavily on your mother.Â
You had offered to stay home and take care of the situation, feeling uneasy about going away to college after this detrimental event. They both urged you to pursue your education, not wanting to be something holding you back.Â
When you got to university a year ago, you were excited. Excited, but also extremely stressed. You didnât sleep easily knowing your mother was taking on so many more hours, along with taking care of your father through recovery.Â
Therefore, you put aside your burning desire to party and relish in college fully, jumping at any job you could get. Your mother discouraged this behavior at first, but overtime realized she couldnât do it without you. It was much too strenuous especially at her age, and she began relying on your monthly payments.Â
You didnât mind it, it was what you should do. At times, though, you felt as if you were the unluckiest girl on the planet. Watching your friends have seemingly comfortable family backgrounds that gave them the ability to experience college to the very fullest made you feel incredible sparks of jealousy.Â
It wasnât anyoneâs fault. It was just the cards you were dealt, and you figured it out. One way or the other.Â
âOkay, love you. Iâll talk to you soon, okay? I gotta go now.â you said, hanging up the phone.
The air was brisk and cold. You could see your breath in the chilly night air, even with a fresh piece of Extra spearmint gum in your mouth.Â
Doordashing wasnât exactly the easiest thing ever if you actually thought about it. Thatâs because⊠you used a bike to do so. God, could it get any more humiliating? A car wasnât in the budget. But a bike. You bought that thing off FaceBook marketplace for a whopping 300 dollars.Â
It wasnât manual, but electric. Still incredibly nerdy, but a bit less effort. You looked down at your phone. It read 8:15 pm. Perfect, the late night craving crowd would probably start placing their orders sooner or later.Â
You decided youâd be out till around midnight that night. Sometimes youâd get orders from girls who just got back from a party, hungry and drunk as hell. Or just some random ass couple wanting to order take out after a long day of work. Either way, you found it was the best time to dash on campus.Â
God. A big part of you wished you were at that party with Utahime, Miwa, Shoko.Â
Sukuna⊠God you really wanted to see him in his element. You hated frat parties. You knew this from the get go. But⊠maybe he wasnât so bad. It felt like you were friends almost. Almost.
You pondered if any of this shit was even worth it? Was one day of DoorDashing going to make such a dent?
But then you remembered your tired mom. Your tired mom that wasnât getting any younger, working hours upon hours restocking the shop and at the cashier. Every penny counted, every meal DoorDashed could be one less hour on her feet. Shit.Â
Ping. The first order came through, snapping you out of your train of thoughts.
McDonalds: order of a twenty piece nugget, one Oreo McFlurry, one big Mac burger, one fish oâ filet, one large coke - Ellie, 1.2 miles away
Jesus. You were never one to shame anyoneâs late night craving but damn. Was that even going to fit in your little compartment?Â
Arriving at McDonaldâs you picked up the order, and clicked on your little helmet. It wasnât getting any warmer, and it was on those days that you were happy you invested in a good pair of gloves and coat. You cheaped out on a lot of things, but not everyday items.Â
The apartment complex was a smooth ride. It was just outside campus, and didnât require much climbing of stairs, as Ellie was only on the second floor. Great, one down. Keep emâ coming.Â
*ping* another order immediately came through as you were descending the stairs. It wasnât the usual ping that sounded for fast food orders, so you manually went in and checked what this person was asking for.Â
You have got to be kidding me. No way this asshole just asked me to DoorDash them condoms?
The expression on your face was scrunched up as you read the name of the mobile order. It was a woman requesting you bring these to her. What has the world come to? Seriously? It read Mei Mei. You had never heard of her, but damn. She was a freak.Â
With a huff, you buckled your helmet and made your way to CVS. You hoped the employee didnât think that shit was for you. In your almost year of DoorDashing you had never had a request such as this. The weirdest thing was probably a charger.Â
It wasnât actually too bad. Youâre sure the CVS employee had seen worse, it was right next to a college. Grabbing the bag quickly and showing your proof of order, you rushed out of the store and back onto your bike. The location was⊠on campus. Interesting.Â
You quickly realized this person was not prompting you to deliver it at any of the dormitories. Following the blue dot, you found yourself at the location.Â
Shoot. It was the fraternity? This had to have been some sort of sick joke. There was no way.Â
Sure enough, your Google Maps stated you were at your location. Looking up, you saw the Eta Omega Chi engraved in a slab of marble plastered at the entrance. Blaring music was blasting, and the entire room was enveloped in a reddish hue from the LED lights. Lame.Â
Not sure of what to do, you opened the DoorDash app prompting âMei Meiâ to come out and get her⊠package. It was a good thing she was constantly on her phone, as she responded in under five seconds.Â
âOk, coming!âÂ
Great. After she gets that shit, you could be well on your way. Maybe do a few more orders for the night. Hopefully off campus too so you donât run into anyone.Â
A voice broke you out of your plans for the rest of the night. âMei Mei, what the hell are you running out for?âÂ
Wait. You recognized that voice. Was thatâŠÂ
Your eyes met, and it seemed like the world around went quiet. The music from the frat was no longer audible to you. The pair of reddish eyes looking back at your own widened like never before, his previous train of thought vanishing completely.Â
A girl with a long white braid laughed childishly, turning back at the pink haired man with a flirtatious expression. She was pretty with long slim legs and a good figure. A short blue skirt adorned her full bottom and a small white bralette-like top sat on her chest. âGotta get something, Kuna. Itâs a surprise for ya.âÂ
Oh. Oh itâs like that.
You felt your entire face go red. Redder than it already was.Â
Sukuna looked like he had seen a ghost. His eyes were nowhere near Mei Mei. They were only on yours. Or trying to find them after you broke the contact almost immediately after it was made.Â
He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. He looked buzzed, obviously having drank. His face was slightly red, and his hair was fully down. You never realized his hair was long enough to drape around his eyes and forehead. It looked good on him. Really good.Â
He was wearing a stupid outfit. A white button up shirt. Or a poor excuse for a shirt. It was basically transparent, and the buttons were barely done. In this lighting, you could see peeks of his toned abdomen and muscular body. He looked messy.
âY/n?â, he said with a scrunched up expression. His eyes were on you. Then they were on your bike and the bag in your hand. The red DoorDash bag.Â
God, this was so humiliating.Â
At that point, your entire face had to have been a tomato. You closed your eyes for a split second, attempting to regain control of the current situation.Â
Nodding your head at him, and attempting to smile, you turned your attention to âMei Meiâ. She marched up to you, clearly drunk out of her mind.Â
âHey! Thanks, have a good night.â, she slurred, taking the bag from your hands. She was stumbling a bit, having a difficult time standing. Attempting to help her gain her balance, you reached out to her arm.Â
Then his hands were on her, stabilizing her figure, arm fully around her shoulders. Then his eyes were on you, wearing a guiltily peculiar expression, âAre you- I thought you were-â
âSukuna- itâs cold as shit. Come back inside weâre playing beer pong-â, a drunken Toji Zenin barked. He was stumbling down the stairs of the entrance, maybe more drunk than Mei Mei and Sukuna combined.Â
âWhoâs this?â, he said with the most insufferable smirk on his face. He was looking right at you like you were his prey. Gross.
âSheâs⊠my tutor. Iâll be inside in a minute. Go back inside,â Sukuna said, sounding irritated, hesitating before stating your role in his life. Mei Mei was still clinging onto him at this point, holding the bag of damn condoms you delivered to her.Â
Toji drunkenly made his way over to where you all were standing. As he got closer, he saw your get-up and bike. The noise that left him was the loudest and ugliest laugh you heard to date.Â
âNo way. THIS is your tutor? Sheâs cute as hell. Why were you hiding her? Shouldâve brought her to the frat.â he slurred, acting as if you werenât even there. Toji Zenin was talking about you in the third person right in front of your face. What could you really expect from that bonehead, though?Â
Sukunaâs expression darkened at that. âJust go inside Toji. Youâre drunk as hell-â
âHey, now. I donât know why youâre so pissy. Mei Meiâs all over you. And like twenty other girls in there. You were all over âem too like ten minutes ago-â he said with a breathy laugh, getting a bit closer to you.
âJust shut the hell up, Toji. Iâm serious,â Sukuna said, his voice growing louder. He looked embarrassed and almost like he got caught doing something he shouldnât have been.Â
You didnât want anything more than to just bolt away on your bike as fast as humanly possible. But you were basically frozen in place, taking in the words of Toji Zenin.
Sukuna was not your boyfriend. You werenât even sure if he was your friend. But for some reason, Toji Zeninâs little spiel about Sukuna just now made you jealous. So jealous. Jealous you were out DoorDashing instead of at the party he invited you to. The party he now is getting all this attention at. Maybe⊠if you were there.Â
No. No use in thinking frivolous things such as that.Â
âYouâre no fun, dude. So youâre⊠a DoorDasher,â Toji laughed, tilting his head curiously toward you. Hysterically cackling. In your face. You were at a loss for words, disassociating from the situation at hand. All you could find yourself doing was laughing breathlessly at his hyena like jest.Â
âDude-â, Sukuna said angrily, shifting in front of Toji, attempting to usher him back inside. He could tell you were uncomfortable. Actually, uncomfortable would be an understatement.Â
âNo, no. Thatâs cute- but sad. The fuck are you doing DoorDashing on a Friday night?,â Toji pushed, still laughing, tears brimming his eyes. God, he really was a grade A asshole.Â
Sukuna opened his mouth to say something. He looked pissed, fist clenching at his side. But Mei Mei had had enough. Mewling at the buttons on his shirt, she purred, âCâmon, letâs go put these to use Kuna. You promised⊠remember,âÂ
You didnât stick around long enough to see Sukunaâs reaction to that, taking it as your cue to leave. Awkwardly croaking out, âAlright, Iâm gonna head on out now.â and hoisting your bag on your shoulder.
He darted out to grab your arm, surprised at his own action. âAre you- Iâm-â, he started but you cut him off, quickly clicking your helmet on and adjusting yourself on the seat of your bike.Â
âYeah, Iâm fine. Have a nice night,â you murmured, addressing all three of them. You were quick to cut him off, sure he was going to apologize. âIâm sorry.âÂ
But in truth, what did he really have to be sorry about? You were barely friends. Would it have been nice if he defended you? Sure. What would that have changed, though? It just felt humiliating. He had to watch you deliver something to some rich sorority girl. Humiliation ritual, truly.Â
Nonetheless, your feelings still hurt. Your heart still ached for some weird reason. Riding off, you felt tears brimming up in your eyes, face warming at the sheer embarrassment. Moreover, FOMO.Â
Tojiâs question burned into the back of your mind, and welled up in the bottom of your throat. What were you doing on a Friday night? Everyone was out having a grand old time. Hell, Mei Mei was burning money DoorDashing condoms to a fraternity party. Utahime and Shoko were likely cozied up in some corner, drunk as hell. Miwa was long gone by now.Â
It just felt like you were missing out. As much as you hated the frat, as much as you claimed to despise all it stood for, you could no longer delude yourself into thinking you hated Sukuna Ryomen.
The look that he gave you upon seeing you, the way his eyes scanned your bag and bike. It was engraved in your mind. You liked being his tutor, feeling like you had a mutual respect for one another.Â
Intelligence was something you had over him in that setting. He viewed you as smart, a reliable source. Someone above him. After seeing you today, did he see you as something less than? He didnât seem like the type. But it just felt like a punch to the gut.Â
Mei Mei and the other twenty sorority girls at that party are the types of girls Sukuna Ryomen sees. The kind he dates. Not you. Someone a part of his world, someone who can afford the time and energy to party and drink and let loose. Not you.Â
Life felt so unfair.Â
âÂ
The rest of the night was monotonous. You felt like you were on auto-pilot, delivering orders and driving around without a single thought. The only thing you found your mind wandering off to was the previous chain of events.Â
Checking the time, it read 11:51 pm. You decided upon midnight to be the time you would turn in, and began heading back to the female dormitories. Utahime and Shoko were probably not back yet, and youâd have the communal bathroom to yourself at that hour.Â
Perfect, you could have a nice shower to rinse off the night you had.Â
*ping* Shit, you thought you had turned off your DoorDash app.
Rather than a DoorDash request, your homescreen was lined with a message from none other than Sukuna Ryomen. You reluctantly clicked on it, knowing you didnât turn on the read receipts, anyway.Â
Sukuna: hye u good
You blinked, not sure what to make of the message. It was nice. Some typing errors. But nice.Â
You replied: Yeah Iâm good thanks
Sukuna: he ha u gte bac k okau?
You: ?? yeah I did. Did you have a good time at the partyÂ
There was no doubt that he was drunk out of his mind. Why was he texting you, worried about if you got back alright when he was shitfaced? He seemed concerned, despite the various typing errors.Â
Although the thing with Toji and the condoms and Mei Mei and Sukuna was⊠upsetting at the time, after some more work and clarity, you realized that it was alright. He was your tutee, you were his tutor. There should be no hard feelings. It was more the spontaneity of the moment that flustered you.Â
Sukuna: al r d. I widh yoy cam e
Sukuna: ya y i got to Se e you tho
You smiled at that, laughing breathily at your phone. Sukuna Ryomen was drunk out of his mind and texting you. His texts were warming the apples of your cheeks and tugging at your heart.
You replied back: Maybe I can come next timeÂ
Sukuna responded almost immediately: plzzz
You: Lmao maybeÂ
Sukuna: u oromidse ??
You: Yeah sureÂ
Sukuna: ofka goofnighr
Happily, as much as you hated to admit it, you typed out a simple âGood night, Sukunaâ, deciding to end the conversation there. You gathered your shower caddy, put on your slippers, and headed down to the showers.Â

| fratjo has a crush on shoko's new shy roommate, she's never had a boyfriend or a requited love, cuteness, fratjo is a yearner
âââââââââââââââââââââ
satoru gojo was in awe, eyes wide, mouth agape. it was, for once, not moving.
when shoko first introduced you to her two best friends, she had previously heeded them of your shy, nerdy personality, threatening them to be normal to you.
she was mostly worried about the white-haired boy.
gojo was a known flirt, womanizer, manwhore. he'd had his fair share of encounters with only the most gorgeous girls on campus. mostly sorority ones or mutual friends of shoko's.
geto was the same way, but did it quietly, pursuing girls much more mindfully.
she made it clear that you were different, though. you were off limits, that you were someone very special to her.
childhood friends, you and her. she kept in close contact with you since you moved away back in high school, and considered you a true friend.
ecstatic to hear you were transferring to her university, shoko didn't need geto and gojo, despite being her best friends, instinctual hoe-like tendencies scaring you off.
but gojo was speechless after seeing your beautiful face when you walked through the door of his dorm room.
it was different than anything he'd felt before. sure, he had small crushes in high school and in college he ran wild.
every weekend he'd flash his signature smirk, whisper a few slutty things in a girl's ear, and get his dick wet.
it was easy like that.
but he never felt like this before, completely captivated.
it wasn't just your physical beauty that struck him. it was the shy smile you wore on your face, the quiet greeting and head nod you offered him.
"hi," was all he could manage to get out.
from then on, you were all gojo could think about. whether it was in class, at practice, hanging with geto, at his damn frat parties.
his mind kept wandering to your pretty face, how much he wanted to talk to you. to tell you how he felt.
he found himself slowing down on the girls on the weekends. at parties, he felt distracted, often wishing you were there.
he would ask shoko if you'd ever come to a frat party of theirs with hopeful, pleading eyes. she would always dismiss it, reminding them that parties "weren't your speed".
it only made him want you more, imagining you in your cute pajamas doing something nerdy in bed on a friday night. reading, maybe.
it got to the point where he completely stopped hooking up with anyone, merely showing up to the parties to show support for his fraternity, or some bullshit.
the times he really got to see you were slim to none. you liked gojo and geto. when you first met them, you found them quite cute.
the guys at your old university were lousy compared to them, and it excited you.
at meals, sometimes gojo and geto would join you and shoko in the dining hall, taking a break from the food at their frat.
gojo practically jumped at any opportunity to eat with you, begging geto to ask shoko any time your schedules all aligned.
he would change around you, often letting his cocky, fuckboy attitude rest. he'd ask you about how you were adjusting, if you liked it so far.
you would nod your head with a soft smile, and his heart felt like it was bursting at the seams.
things changed, though, when he stumbled upon you at the college library. so typical of you, he thought.
your textbooks were sprawled on the rectangular desk, glasses on and hair tied up with a giant claw clip. your nose buried in your notebook, writing notes with your earphones in.
so cute.
he strode up to you, tapping your shoulder lightly. this was his opportunity, a chance to talk to you one on one without shoko staring daggers into him.
"hey, there," he would say, smiling.
you took out your earbud, eyebrows raised, lips parting delicately.
he took your warm greeting as an invitation to sit down at your table, asking you how your studying was going.
he was thanking his stupid literature professor for making him borrow the physical copy of the book for annotations, otherwise he wouldn't be caught dead there.
you shared what you were up to, how interesting your current unit in philosophy was and how hard you were studying for the next doozy of a calc test you had coming up.
it was the most you'd talked to him up till then, and to say he was happy was an understatement.
he figured that these academic interests of yours were what made you passionate, invigorated you to speak without hesitation.
loving your newfound openness, he continued asking you questions about what you'd been learning, how it compared to the way your professors taught at your old university, if you preferred this subject over that one.
any possible question that popped into his mind, he asked. just so he could continue to hear you talk.
your voice was the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard before, and he wanted it to last forever.
it was what he, shamefully, palmed himself to the thought of every night. a hand would snake under his grey sweats, imagining your sweet voice whispering pleas from underneath him.
finally, realizing how long you'd been talking, you shyly tucked a hair behind your eye and adjusted your glasses, apologizing for rambling on and on.
he shook his head vigorously, insisting he was interested.
this routine continued.
he'd come to the library everyday around that time to come and see you, ask about your studies and day, even bringing cute drinks and snacks he saw you post on your instagram stories.
you found it all really nice. he was a great listener, just coming each day, pulling up a chair, and asking you really quality questions about your work.
movies, tv shows, animes, comic books he saw you repost about on your tiktok account he'd non-chalantly drop into conversation, and you'd light up immediately.
your eyes widened, and you launched into talking about your favorite characters, plot lines you hated, and cool things the directors or authors did intentionally he might have missed.
mentally, he'd fist bump himself for doing his research on you, along with all your favorite things.
he'd cut in at times, adding his two sense into a particular opinion you held on a character or story-line, and you'd smile brightly, surprised he was into the same media as you were.
it got to the point where his frat brothers were worried about him, wondering why on earth he had stopped his generational run he had with the sorority girls.
gojo seemed distracted, not really seeming fulfilled by all the partying and drinking.
even geto, his best friend, was confused as to why he had been acting this way.
he'd simply shrug, saying he didn't feel like it, jokingly saying that maybe he just grew up.
but it wasn't far off.
each visit he made to the library made your heart grow fonder of satoru gojo. you expected him, at a certain point, and without fail, he'd be there.
but you reminded yourself of the type of guy he was.
when weekend plans would get brought up, on the rare occasion you two talked about something like that, he'd mention a party of some sort.
you knew those parties happened each weekend, shoko practically came back drunk out of her mind from them, time and time again.
it just wasn't your scene. not that you thought that made you better than anyone, but it just wasn't.
even in high school, you were never very popular, keeping to yourself. shoko was one of your only friends in middle school, and it didn't get easier when you moved.
big events, like prom and formals, you often skipped out on because of the pressure you felt of having no date. it felt embarrassing to go without one, so you just didn't.
guys were another foreign area in your life.
you didn't have any guy friends, up until that point. in high school, you had your fair share of crushes.
none of which you talked to or had even the semblance of a chance with. it made you feel weird, never having even gotten to first base with anyone in your sophomore year of college.
gojo wasn't like you. he was a shining star, everyone loved him.
you weren't stupid. shoko told you, jokingly of course, that her two best friends were whores, popular amongst the female population.
you saw it in the way they got approached by beautiful girl "friends" in the dining halls or when they'd occasionally walk from class to class all together.
shoko would roll her eyes to the very back of her head.
the point was, you knew there wasn't a chance with him, no matter how friendly he came off to you each day. it was useless having a crush on him.
but you were stupid like that, biting off more than you could chew. that's how you got your feelings hurt, most times.
you were still smart enough to agree to go on a date with a guy you thought fit you will.
he was in your computer science class. he wasn't as handsome as gojo, nor did you have even half as good conversation with him, you thought.
but he was kind, quieter, did well in class.
he wasn't the type to party, and you overheard he'd never had a girlfriend before. it was a perfect match.
shoko urged you to say yes, happy that you'd finally get some.
she was so excited she decided to spill the beans to her two best friends at their pre-game before the friday night frat party.
when gojo heard you were going on a date with a guy seemingly perfect for you, his heart started racing, seething with jealousy.
shoko, of course, exaggerated him. that he was handsome, just your type, nerdy, incredibly intelligent, quiet, shy, low-key. all the things he wasn't.
that you were finally going to get your freak on, or however she described it, and that you and him probably were at that very moment.
he thickly swallowed, suddenly feeling incredibly nauseous.
quickly making up some bullshit lie that he ate some expired yogurt that morning and he was feeling sick, he ushered them out of the room.
as soon as he saw them leave, he raced out the door, not able to think straight.
there was no way in hell he'd let some random let all his efforts go to waste. i mean, it'd been months of intense and miserable yearning for you, as much as he hated that word and found it corny.
it was truly how he was moving.
his legs carried him fast, sprinting to the girl's dormitory. he knew it well, not just from shoko, shamefully.
almost falling on his face from running so fast, he stopped at your door.
he was scared, for once in his life, about a girl. this should be easy, but his mind was racing.
finally mustering up the courage to knock, you opened the door with a very confused expression.
"gojo?", you asked, staring up at him with those adorable eyes.
"don't date him," he was out of breath, chest heaving dramatically. he felt like he had just run a marathon, the adrenaline of seeing you shooting him to a runner's high.
"please. i-", his voice cracked, almost whimpering, "i like you. no- i'm obsessed with you. and i can't stand the thought of you dating someone that's not me. so please-",
you cut him off with an abrupt kiss, lips awkwardly clashing against his, teeth colliding and mouths not quite as fluid as in the movies.
but he didn't care. his brain was short circuiting from the fact that you had just kissed him.
smiling like an idiot, he shut the door behind him, exhaling and crashing his mouth onto yours again.
this time, he was in complete control, starting off fast, then slowing down against your lips, gently kissing you while holding the side of your face tenderly.
he couldn't believe this was happening. he was kissing you, and you were kissing him back.
breathless, you pulled away from him, eyes slightly glassy and face extremely warm and red. you looked away, exhaling loudly like you'd just did some intense exercise.
gojo was looking at you with a soft expression, the side of his mouth turned up.
"i- uh," you'd start, fumbling with a piece of your hair. the two of you were sitting on the edge of your bed.
"that was my first time," you smiled softly.
it was your first kiss.
his eyes felt like they were going to pop out of the sockets, his heartbeat increasing by two times.
he had just taken your first kiss. it was his forever, he was your first.
that made him so happy he could kiss you. again.
wearing a stupidly large grin on his face, he replied, "it won't be the last," pulling you in for another quick kiss.
you smiled into it, not sure of where to put your hands and settling them on his shoulders awkwardly.
"gojo!", you laughed softly.
âsatoru,â he whispered near your ear.
you shuddered at the sensation, correcting yourself "satoru. i... didn't know you felt that way. about me,"
"I came to the library. a place i'd never be caught dead in. every day. to see you," he paused between each sentence, "how?",
he sounded genuinely confused, "i don't know. i think i just thought we were too different. that... i guess you were out of my league,"
gojo let out a genuine laugh, shaking his head, "there's no way you actually believe that. you're miles out of my league,"
you let out a breathy laugh, "no, i'm serious. i quit all of it. i haven't... been with a girl since i first saw your face. all i wanted to do was to talk to you,"
your heart could probably burst at that moment, your face growing warm, "that's-",
he cut you off, taking your hand in his, "you're way too good for me. trust me. that's why i didn't- i couldn't tell you how i felt," he started, "but i want you to be mine. for real,"
you smiled that soft, gentle smile, the one he loves, "i want that too,"
"yeah?", he rubbed his thumb over your knuckles delicately, looking down at your hand, "i'll be good for you, i promise. i don't care about any of that other bullshit, i just wanna make you happy,"
"then let's be together then," you said, feeling shy at the confidence of your statement.
"that's all i've ever wanted, baby," he breathed out, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders.
satoru gojo was down tremendously.

| fratjo has a crush on shoko's new shy roommate, she's never had a boyfriend or a requited love, cuteness, fratjo is a yearner
âââââââââââââââââââââ
satoru gojo was in awe, eyes wide, mouth agape. it was, for once, not moving.
when shoko first introduced you to her two best friends, she had previously heeded them of your shy, nerdy personality, threatening them to be normal to you.
she was mostly worried about the white-haired boy.
gojo was a known flirt, womanizer, manwhore. he'd had his fair share of encounters with only the most gorgeous girls on campus. mostly sorority ones or mutual friends of shoko's.
geto was the same way, but did it quietly, pursuing girls much more mindfully.
she made it clear that you were different, though. you were off limits, that you were someone very special to her.
childhood friends, you and her. she kept in close contact with you since you moved away back in high school, and considered you a true friend.
ecstatic to hear you were transferring to her university, shoko didn't need geto and gojo, despite being her best friends, instinctual hoe-like tendencies scaring you off.
but gojo was speechless after seeing your beautiful face when you walked through the door of his dorm room.
it was different than anything he'd felt before. sure, he had small crushes in high school and in college he ran wild.
every weekend he'd flash his signature smirk, whisper a few slutty things in a girl's ear, and get his dick wet.
it was easy like that.
but he never felt like this before, completely captivated.
it wasn't just your physical beauty that struck him. it was the shy smile you wore on your face, the quiet greeting and head nod you offered him.

You descended the stairs with Miwa, heading straight for the kitchen to find your two other friends.
It was late, almost midnight, and more people were gathered on the patio now, playing some stupid games and taking shots. Most people were either drunk out of their minds or getting to that point.
âHey guys!â, Utahime slurred, clearly wasted.
Shokoâs face was dusted pink and she was laughing, helping Utahime stabilize herself a bit. The pair had been nursing their beers for a while, having taken a few rounds of shots. Utahime was a lightweight, though.
âYou look like youâre having fun,â Miwa laughed, grabbing a red solo cup and filling it with some mystery drink from a giant dispenser.
âYou want some?â, Miwa gestured to you, handing you a cup. You nodded, taking it.
Drinking wasnât something you did often, but you figured youâd try a small amount tonight. It was vacation after all, and everyone else was.
âMe and Shoko are going to go talk to Yuki,â Utahime laughed, pulling Shoko away and toward the balcony.
âThey look like theyâre having fun,â you mused, nursing your drink slowly. It tasted sweet, a little fruity, and not too bitter.
It was way better than the alcohol you remember getting drunk off of last Halloween. That was straight peroxide.
âYeah I know right. Hime is so drunk,â she laughed, leading you to the couch area.
Your eyes couldnât help but dart around the gigantic house in search for a certain pink-haired someone. Sukuna was nowhere to be found, though, so you figured youâd just see him later or the next morning.
âYou good?â, she noticed, scrolling through her phone.
âYeah, Iâm good,â you said, taking another sip of your drink.
âOkay, good. Oh shit, Kokichi is calling me. Do you mind?â, she asked, turning her phone around showing the screen blaring with his contact on it.
âYeah, go! Iâll be fine,â you said, gesturing for her to go answer the call. She was excitedly talking about the call theyâd scheduled since Kokichi wanted to show her his dog and younger siblings.
Looking around again, you only really saw a few sorority girls on the staircase, and a group of both guys and girls in the kitchen, taking some shots and playing some game.
No signs of Sukuna.
Since it would probably only be a few minutes, you decided to pull out your phone to go on social media or answer some of your messages.
Two from your mom, a few Canvas notifications, your boss from work, just boring stuff. Replying to the messages, you headed over to your other apps to watch some mindless videos.
âWhatâs up?â, a playful voice came from the right side of you.
A head of white hair came into vision. Satoru Gojo plopped right next to you, knees touching, and shoulders momentarily brushing.
Your eyes slightly widened, looking around to see if any of his other friends were around. You didnât see Geto or Sukuna anywhere.
âOh, hey,â you said, offering a polite smile. His cheeks were blushed a light pink, and he didnât seem too drunk. Just enough.
He smiled at your shy response, eyes drinking you in, âWhyâre you all alone? Whereâs the blue haired girl,â
âOh, sheâs on a call with her boyfriend. Shoko and Utahime are on the balcony or something. So⊠yeah,â you said awkwardly, rubbing your knees together.
âWell, I can just keep you company till they come back then, yeah?â, Gojo leaned back into the couch, legs widening and elbow resting a little easier on the arm chair.
You just gave him a small smile, taking another sip of your drink. You werenât uncomfortable. Gojo was a nice guy, nice to look at too.
His red button down was now buttoned up a bit higher, chest barely covered, and his hair was a little messier. There was no doubt that he was handsome.
He laughed to himself, still amused by your awkward demeanor, âYou know, youâre even shyer than during that project. Itâs cute,â
Maybe he was more drunk than you thought. âOh- thanks? Sorry, itâs not intentional,â you let out a small laugh.
âNo, I like it,â he leaned back, taking a sip of his drink now.
âSpeaking of that project⊠you never even did anything,â you huffed, remembering your previous grudge on the guy.
Gojo let out a real laugh this time, running a hand through his soft white hair, âDamn, I was kinda hoping youâd forget about that,â
âNope, me and that other guy did all the work. What did you even say, âfrat responsibilities?ââ, you rolled your eyes playfully.
âYeah, that was- that was stupid,â he huffed out, still letting out small breathy laughs. He smelled woody and clean, like fresh laundry.
âIâm sorry about that. I was pretty stupid freshman year. I⊠I know that left a pretty bad impression,â he said, rubbing the back of his head.
âYeah it did,â you smiled to yourself, âYou apologizing now, though?â
He nodded, smiling wide now. âYes. Sincerely. Clean slate?â
âHmm, I donât know. I guess,â you said, laughing softly.
âIâll take it. Iâve been trying to get on your good side for the past two years after that. I messed up, I guess,â he took a bigger sip of his drink, face scrunching up after tasting it.
âWhat do you mean?â, confused by what he meant by âtrying to get on your good sideâ.
âI mean⊠I dunno. I always tried eating lunch with you and Shoko but she told me not to. And I told her to invite you to all the parties weâd have so I could try and maybe talk to you,â
He laughed, leaning back a bit more, âSorry, I donât even know what Iâm saying. Iâm pretty wasted,â
You felt your face warm a bit from his confession. I guess that was pretty flattering.
Laughing to ease his discomfort, âItâs okay. Iâm getting there, I guess. But thatâs nice of you Gojo. I guess⊠we can be friends now,â you smiled, putting your hand out to shake his.
He grinned, finding it amusing and shaking it delicately. His hand was large, slender, long fingers wrapping around your palm, âGreat,â
Suddenly, you heard a loud group coming back from the balcony, swinging open the back door leading to the patio.
The man of the house, Sukuna Ryomen was at the front of the crowd. With a certain white-haired girl on his right arm.
Your eyes widened and your face grew hot, Gojoâs gaze burning into your face.
âOh, itâs Sukuna,â he glanced, âDamn, him and Mei Mei have been on and off for ages now,â he said to himself.
You began to feel an extreme wave of jealousy hit you. I mean, ages? Really?
âOh, really?â, you asked, turning your gaze to Sukuna. He still hadnât noticed you two on the couch.
âYeah. Since like freshman year it feels like,â he sighed, noticing your uncomfortable expression, âYou good?â
âOh, yeah,â you smiled at him, and he leaned in closer, tucking a hair behind your ear.
âYou sure?â, he stroked the side of your head gently.
On cue, Sukunaâs eyes locked in on the situation taking place, widening at the scene of his pretty âtutorâ and frat brother getting a little too close for comfort.
Without even thinking, he lightly brushed Mei Mei off of him, and began walking up to the two of you on the couch.
âY/n?â, he asked, hands shoved in his pockets and expression looking⊠hurt almost.
âWhat right did he even have to be hurt? You werenât doing anything illegal, or scandalous even. Just a nice conversation with a mutual friend. Or friend, now. And just a minute ago, he had a different girl slung on his arm, likely having spent the past hour with her, not sparing you a thought after showing you to your room.â
âOh, hey Sukuna,â you turned, offering him a small smile.
âWhat up Ryomen,â Gojo smiled up at him, waving with a peace sign.
âYeah, hey,â he nodded quickly to Gojo, turning his attention over to you, âY/n, you wanna get a drink with me?â
Your eyes widened at the question, about to speak, âWeâre talking. Maybe later,â Gojo playfully shooed Sukuna away.
âShut up, Satoru. Suguruâs looking for ya out on the patio. Him and a few other girls are playing some games,â he said, gesturing behind him.
Gojo sighed, stirring from his seat a bit, âItâs alright, he can play by himself-â
His phone began ringing loudly, an obnoxious 2000âs song blaring from the tiny device.
âShit, Suguâs blowing up my phone. Alright, y/n letâs talk again tomorrow, yeah?â he looked at you, eyebrows raised and a smile plastered across his face.
You simply nodded, offering him a smile. Your face felt like it was on fire from Sukunaâs piercing gaze on you the entire time.
He huffed, motioning for you to follow him.
Sukuna took your cup in his hands, filling it, and continuing to walk toward another door, looking back to check if you were still following him.
Turning the door, he let you walk through first, revealing another small balcony looking over the beach. It was quiet, nobody else in sight.
âHeâs so annoying,â he sighed, âHere, you can sit, ya know,â
The both of you were sitting in adjacent beach chairs, on looking the beautiful beach front. It was a picture perfect scene.
âHi,â was all you could manage to get out, the reality of the situation setting in.
Sukuna in the night lighting was heavenly. His skin was perfectly clear, illuminated by the moonlight. His toned abdomen was fully visible, and his pink hair fell perfectly on his forehead.
He had a softer look in his eye, one you hadnât yet seen before.
âHey,â he smiled gently, âYou having fun?â
âYeah, I am. Are⊠you?â you realized that was a pretty stupid question. It was his house after all, and he seemed to be.
âUh, I guess so. Iâm having more fun right now, though,â he smiled, eyes darting to you.
âWhatever you were doing out there looked pretty cool, though,â he shook his head at that, letting out a humorless chuckle.
âI was looking for you. I just got caught up- they wanted me to play some game,â his eyes were still on you, his hands fumbling around.
âYou and Mei Mei is it? Seem pretty close,â you regretted what you said instantly. You didnât want to come off as accusatory. Your curiosity got the better of you, Gojoâs words ringing loudly in your head.
âOh. Yeah, weâre friends. Since high school. But itâs not like that,â he paused.
âDoes she know that?â you laughed softly, attempting to lighten the mood but wanting an answer.
He sighed, âYeah, I know. I know it looks bad. Itâs just⊠complicated,â
You hummed in response, not wanting to press him, but heâd sensed your discomfort, âShe just went through a lot of shit with her parents and I was there- she needed someone. But sheâs getting better now,â
âOh, okay. Itâs okay Sukuna you donât need to explain anything to me. Itâs nice you guys are close like that,â you smiled.
âI wouldnât say close, but yeah. And I wanted to explain it. I donât want you to get the wrong idea, especially after that one time,â he sighed.
âI appreciate it. And itâs okay, it was kind of funny now that I think about it. Iâve never had someone order something like that,â he smiled at that, his mind wandering to how adorable he thought you looked in your uniform and bike.
âYeah, that was weird. I wouldnât do anything with her, for the record. I wasnât going to,â he sighed.
âItâs okay, no need to explain,â he nodded, pursing his lips.
âYou work a lot, donât you? You just like being busy or something?â it was his attempt at making conversation, wanting this quiet moment with you to extend further into the night.
âOh, yeah. I guess so. Itâs more to help my mom out, but itâs also a good use of time,â he hummed at your response.
He didnât want to pry, but Sukuna wanted to get to know you better, to know more about where you came from, what motivated you, who your family was, what you were truly passionate about.
âThatâs good. What do your parents do for work?â he asked.
âUh, my mom and dad own a store. But my dad hurt his back really bad back when I was a senior in high school, so he hasnât been able to work in a while. And I donât really like my mom working too much. Itâs hard on her,â you shifted in your chair, turning toward him more, âSo Iâve been working a lot to help pay for medical bills and the mortage. Three things, including you,â
âShit, Iâm sorry. That must be hard. Theyâre lucky to have you. You work really hard, I can tell,â he said, awkwardly almost.
âThanks,â you let out a small laugh, âItâs all good. Plus the work isnât hard or anything, so itâs whatever. You ever had a job?â his eyes widened at the shift in conversation.
âNot really. My parents never really pushed me to,â he looked up, thinking, âThat makes me sound like a major douche, I knowâ he huffed out a laugh that didnât quite reach his eyes.
âYeah, it does,â you let out a genuine laugh, âBut I canât say I blame you. If I was rich as hell I wouldnât work for pennies either,â he nodded at that.
âI guess thatâs true. But itâs really cool you do, I mean it,â he seemed genuine, looking you in the eye and smiling gently.
âWow, Iâm touched,â you smiled with an eyebrow slightly raised, âYouâre nicer than I thought,â
He seemed surprised by that, âWhat do you mean?â his eyebrows were raised and he wore a confused expression.
You never thought youâd admit something like that to him, or get to the point where you were comfortable enough to. The previous opinion you had on Sukuna was just about disintegrated and changed into a gentler, more genuine version that you most definitely admired.
Letting out a small hum, you started, âI just thought you were an ass before this is all. I mean, you are in a frat,â
He let out a genuine laugh. It was loud and lengthy, âI thought you didnât know me before this, no? What about me gave âassholeâ?â his eyebrow raised and face slightly red.
âI knew of you. And I mean, no offense, but what about you didnât? Youâre in that frat, you play football, youâre rich as hell, friends with Toji, practically community dih-â you realized you mightâve gone too far with the last statement, covering your mouth and laughing.
âHey! Thatâs- what?â he was laughing too, hard.
âThatâs not fair. And Iâm not, for your information. Iâm all the other things, I guess. Maybe not the Toji thing, though. Heâs annoying,â he rolled his eyes jokingly.
âIâve heard my fair share of things. Youâve been with half of the female population here,â you smiled, rolling your eyes.
It was true. Youâd heard a multitude of rumors and stories about encounters with Sukuna from various different girls at parties. All saying the same things, that he never took them seriously after or pursued anything further than something physical.
âDonât listen to that shit,â he said, softer now, âI donât want you thinking that about me. Itâs not exactly an accurate representation of me,â
You raised your brows at that, curious as to what he meant by that.
âItâs mostly rumors. I mean, I wonât sit here and tell you Iâm the virgin Mary but- itâs not that many. I just get a bad rep being around Toji and the others. I swear,â he looked down a bit, hoping youâd believe him.
He was starting to realize that your opinion of him mattered a great deal to him.
âYeah. I believe you,â you nodded, âAfter I got to know you a bit, I didnât really think it was all that true. Someone with your personality couldnât possibly have that much pull,â you laughed, lightening the mood.
âHey- I have a lot of pull, for your information,â he rolled his eyes playfully.
âYeah, sure. But, seriously. I believe you. I trust you,â you smiled gently.
He felt his heart explode at your little smile and non chalant tuck of your hair behind the ear. You trusted him. That notion made his face and chest feel all warm and fuzzy.
With wide eyes, he paused and responded, âGood. Itâs mutual,â
You smiled softly, âYou know I donât have many friends,â
âNo, really?â he huffed, jokingly.
âShut up,â you rolled your eyes, âBut⊠I think you might be able to be considered a friend. Itâs a very exclusive list, though,â
He smiled gently, genuinely, âReally? This whole time Iâve considered you my good friend. And now youâre telling me I could be contemplated as one?â
You were surprised at his response. This whole time you were over thinking the matter of whatever you had being friendship or something less than. You never thought someone like him, with countless friends, would consider you a friend so easily.
âWell, like I said, itâs difficult to get on the roster,â he rolled his eyes jokingly at that, âBut, yeah. I would say you made the cut,â
He laughed, rubbing his palms on his shorts, âFriends, then,â
âYeah. Now that I told you about my family, I figured Iâd promote you,â you said.
He seemed confused at that, âWhat do you mean?â
âItâs just that I havenât told many people about the shit I got going on. Itâs not that big a deal, but at this school I just feel different. Everyoneâs rich as hell. Even my closest friends. But since I told you, ya know,â you softly said, looking away from him.
His gaze softened, and he felt a warming stir in his heart. You trusted him with something you were clearly private about. It felt good. And he suddenly felt more important, like he was taking up a larger space in your life.
âYeah. I canât say that I get it but- Iâm happy that you felt like you could trust me. You can,â he smiled, scooting his chair closer to yours.
âThanks, Sukuna,â you felt inexplicably happy.
Your heart strings felt like they were bursting at the seems, as cliche as that sounded. Sukuna Ryomen considered you a friend, and claimed he would guard your âsecretâ. If you could even call it that.
Revealing that part of yourself made you feel like an open book, vulnerable. But surprisingly it was easy with him, like he understood with no judgement.
â
You woke up to Miwaâs loud electric toothbrush running and White Keys playing in the background faintly.
The previous night left you with a happy, optimistic feeling. Your crush on Sukuna had made notable progress, and you spent actual, quality time with one another.
After talking for what felt like hours about other miscellaneous things. His football playing, the pressure his parents put on him to play well. Your stupid peanut shop job. Your stupid boss at your old job at the gym. His math teacher. Classes you had together but never talked in. Your mutual friends. His friends. Your friends.
It was good conversation that didnât have any awkward pauses or moments of awkwardness. It felt natural, like he cared about what you had to say.
You returned to your respective rooms late into the night, probably around 2 in the morning. When you went up to the room, Miwa hadnât returned yet. You assumed that she was with Shoko and Utahime, playing some game or smoking.
âYouâre finally up,â Miwa smiled, waltzing her way to your bed, fuzzy headband pressing her hair back, âI heard you were with a certain someone,â
You yawned, grabbing your waterbottle and chugging the cold water, âHm? How do you even know about that?â
âI came back from calling Kokichi and you were gone. I was asking around and Gojo said the last he saw you, Sukuna stole you away,â she used quotation marks with her fingers when she said the last part.
âIt was for a drink. And it wasnât like that. We just talked for a bit, we lost track,â you fought back a smile.
âSure. It was for such a long time. I was gonna go look for you, but I figured you were enjoying yourself,â she smirked, applying her makeup.
âYeah, yeah. It was good. We talked a lot. Ya know he said weâre friends?â you said excitedly, heading to the bathroom.
âNo shit. He begged you to come to his vacay home and bought you expensive soap. Heâs always looking at you like this, too,â she paused and made an overly-exaggerated cute expression, âItâs more than that, if you ask me,â she sighed.
Her words were overly optimistic, but a part of you couldnât help believing a bit of it. The conversation the other night, the tender words and gentle moments warmed your heart and encouraged the notions of anything more than platonic.
You simply smiled, rolling your eyes and beginning to brush your teeth and wash your face.
âI think a lot of the others are heading to the beach today. Probably spend the whole day outside, grill some food, and hang out. Thatâs what Gojo told Shoko,â she said excitedly, putting on her bathing suit and a light coverup over.
âThat sounds really fun,â you did the same, fishing out your blue bathing suit out of your bag and changing in the bathroom.
You wore some simple shorts and a tanktop on top of your swim suit, unplugging your phone from the charger.
âDamn, itâs already 11 in the morning,â you sighed, âAre Shoko and Utahime up?â you asked.
âYeah, but they got up around the same time as us. No oneâs left yet, I think everyoneâs planning to go in like thirty minutes,â she said, checking her phone.
The two of you decided to head downstairs for breakfast. The place was surprisingly clean, and nothing like how you remembered it the other night.
The dining table was clean, looking to be wiped down and rid of all red solo cups and alcohol. The smell of weed was no where to be found, and was replaced by a fluorescent, strong scent of air freshener.
Sitting at the round table was Shoko, Utahime, Gojo, Geto, Sukuna, and Mei Mei. Shoko didnât look too happy at the latter, chewing on her bagel, exaggerating each bite.
When she saw the two of you, though, her mood immediately brightened. She got up from her seat, waltzing over to you, âHey, guys! Come on- eat, thereâs a bunch of food,â gesturing to the island of bagels, fruits, pancakes, sausages, eggs, all the staples of breakfast food.
You and Miwa filed food onto your plates and took a seat at the table. There were some others lounging around, eating on the couch or on the patio.
Sukuna smiled up at you as you took a seat next to Shoko, âGood morning,â he nodded.
âMorning,â you smiled flatly, not wanting to be overt.
The rest of the table was lively, luckily, not catching the small moment between the two of you.
âSo, whoâs ready for the beach?â Shoko smiled, excitedly wrapping an arm around Utahime.
Everyone unanimously chimed âMeâ except Mei Mei who was too busy typing something on her phone. She was seated next to Sukuna, of course, scooted close to his side, head rested on his shoulder.
He told you they were friends, though. Nothing more. You believed him, believed what he told you about her family. That they were just close from high school and he helped her work through her issues.
âWe should play volleyball, hm? I was so good back in high school,â Gojo hummed, reminiscing on his high school days.
âYou were so ass. Be for real dude,â Geto laughed, a piece of his hair falling from his tie up.
âI was not! I was good- I made varsity in sophomore year, remember? I was the best player,â he huffed, arguing his case.
âNo you werenât dude. They just kept you on because you were tall,â Shoko giggled, scrolling through her phone to find a photo of him from back in the day.
âHey- donât pull up any high school photos of me. Donât embarrass me in front of y/n!â he laughed softly, pouting and making eye contact with you.
You laughed in response. Gojo was funny, entertaining even. You found his antics to be comfortable, and enjoyed how he included everyone in the conversation.
After the other night, you felt more at ease about him. He clearly wanted to be friends, considering after the fact he dmâd you seven different meme reels on Instagram and followed you on his spam account. You didnât believe in men with spam accounts, but figured youâd make an exception.
âWe should play today, though. It would be fun. I think I have one in the garage,â Sukuna smiled, getting up to go and find it.
âIâll come too, I wanna get some ice for my water,â Mei Mei said, standing to go follow him.
He pursed his lips, nodding his head reluctantly. You supposed he didnât want to be impolite.
Once they were out of earshot, Shoko wasnât reluctant in speaking her mind, âSee, this is what Iâm talking about. She always does that shit,â she rolled her eyes.
Utahime laughed softly, âNo, itâs not even funny,â Shoko groaned, âSatoru, Sugu, canât you see? Sheâs totally obsessed. I never defend men like this but thatâs gotta be harassment or something,â
Gojo laughed heartily, âI guess. But Ryomen isnât exactly saying no. Think he might like her?â
Your heart dropped, and you hoped that Gojo was just joking around like he did.
âHell no man,â Geto said with a grimace, âHe doesnât like her like that. He told me himself. Plus itâs hella obvious,â
âYeah, okay everyone shut up theyâre coming back,â Shoko said, and everyone collectively let out a laugh.
âWhatâs up?â Sukuna asked, eyebrows raised. Mei Mei followed close behind, eyes glued to her screen smirking.
âNothing. Letâs go, itâs already almost noon,â Shoko said, getting up and everyone followed suit.
Mei Mei continued staying close behind Sukuna, almost suffocating him.
It was worse than the other night. It almost felt deliberate. She stood in places that blocked him off to the rest of you all, shielding you from talking to him. You figured it was because of his swift exit the other night from her and whatever game.
The sand felt warm on your feet, your flip flops not really protecting anything. Shoko and Utahime laid their towels on the sand and began tanning, and Gojo unsurprisingly did the same.
The rest of you put down towels and set your belongings on them, applying sunscreen to get in the water.
It was your favorite part of the beach, swimming. You missed the feeling.
Lifting up your shirt and revealing your bare abdomen and legs, you felt a set of eyes on you.
Sukuna was now shirtless, only in his swim trunks. He was applying his sunscreen over his mid section and arms, eyes drinking you up shamelessly.
Eyes widening that you noticed his staring, he looked away quickly, pretending to focus on putting his sun block on his face.
âY/n, you need help with that?â Miwa asked, coming over to you noticing you were struggling to lather it on your back.
âThanks,â you smiled, âThat tickles!â you laughed, shimmying a bit at her touch.
âYou look so good, y/n,â Utahime said, eyes widening and nodding, âThis color looks great on you!â
You smiled, hearing another voice echo her, âI agree,â Gojo sat up, pulling down his sunglasses to gaze at you jokingly.
You rolled your eyes, feeling your face slightly warm. Shoko tapped his shoulder, making a grossed out expression.
âWhat? Itâs true. Canât a man speak his truth?â he smiled, resting his cheek on one of his hands.
âItâs true, but youâre gross. Anyway, should we play volleyball?â Shoko asked, hoisting herself up and offering a hand to Utahime.
âSure, why not,â Gojo said, getting up, offering you a hand, mimicking Shoko.
You shook your head, softly laughing, and took his hand. Gojo was nice. Flamboyant, energetic, talkative, and kind. A little obnoxious, but he was a lot nicer than during that project, different than what you thought he was like. A flamboyant, kind frat boy.
Sukuna watched all of this with a pursed expression. He knew Gojo was a touchy guy who enjoyed and valued the company of women platonically. But he also knew he had some interest in you from conversations with him and Shoko.
He saw the difference in the way he addressed you, approached you. He made efforts to be noticed by you in both group and individual settings.
You all grouped together again. Wanting to find Sukunaâs eyes, you looked around. He looked back at you, offering a soft smile. You smiled back, feeling your face warm up.
âAlright, letâs do team captains. Iâll be one of the captains,â Gojo volunteered, raising his hand.
âAinât nobody wanna be on your bum ass team,â Shoko laughed, and the rest of the group followed suit.
âYou guys are so mean to me,â he sighed.
âYeah, yeah. Whatever, you can be captain. Iâll be the other one, Iâm good at this shit. Remember when we played in the rec league together?â Sukuna gestured to Gojo and Geto, both nodding their heads.
âAlright, great! Iâll pick first. I pick y/n, you seem like youâd be good at volleyball,â he smiled, gesturing for you to come to his side of the net. You laughed softly, walking up to his side.
Sukuna didnât like that at all. But he didnât want to make a bigger deal of something than it was, biting back his teeth and stirring anger.
âOkay, Geto, youâre with me,â he pointed to him.
The rest of the selections went smoothly, the teams forming and the game beginning.
You played volleyball a few times in school during PE class with Utahime and Miwa, so you three werenât horrible at it.
But Gojo wasnât lying when he said he was great at volleyball. That would be an understatement. He was amazing at it, spiking the ball effortlessly, saving it with the tip of his finger.
Sukuna was quite good too, naturally having athletic hand eye coordination. Geto and Shoko were equally as good, both having played on a team in high school.
Mei Mei was barely trying, floppering around the court, shying away from the ball. It wasnât really a problem, you figured she just didn't know how to play.
You didnât want to be one of those girls who disliked another girl because of a guy. So you attempted to be nice to her during the game.
âGood one!â you looked over to her after she finally managed to hit the ball up, saving it and allowing Gojo to set it back to the opposing side.
She simply pursed her lips and went back to the game, not acknowledging the compliment. Your eyes widened, and you couldnât help but feel annoyed at it.
If you decided you hated her, it wasnât because of Sukuna or any guy. It was because she was a total bitch.
The ball was launched toward your area, and you hit it over just right, and Geto missed the ball. Another point for your team.
Sukuna smiled, impressed by your hit, âGood play!â he shouted over with a hand to his mouth.
You put a thumbs up, smiling. There were mostly small moments between the two of you, not really full blown conversation or more than a few words spoken. That was mainly because of one person.
The next play, you felt invigorated. The ball came to your area, but just as you were about to get it, Mei Mei swooped in, elbowing you hard in the face to get the ball.
It was a surprisingly hard hit, considering she didnât look like the fighting type and she was lousy at volleyball. You felt your nose begin bleeding, your eye swelling a bit.
Everyone stopped playing, and rushed over to your side.
âAre you okay?â Miwa, Shoko, and Utahime were on you in an instant. Gojo was standing over you, hoisting you up.
Sukuna felt his heart drop, over to you in an instant.
It all felt very dramatic, and you let out a small laugh, âYeah, Iâm fine. Itâs just a bloody nose. I used to get these a lot when I was a kid,â you said, using Gojoâs arm to get up.
You murmured a quiet âthank youâ, to which he responded with a whispered âof courseâ. It was nice.
Sukuna hated it. Hated seeing you hurt, even if it was a small injury. Hated not being the one you were resting on and relying upon.
âMy bad,â Mei Mei stated, looking the least bit concerned for you.
Shoko, Miwa, and Utahime, especially Shoko, glared at her. It was clear she wasnât sorry at all, most likely having done it purposefully.
âYeah, sure,â Shoko said, rolling her eyes. Geto gave her a warning look, quietly asking if you wanted a tissue or water.
You shook your head, âItâs okay. Iâm gonna sit this next one out. I might head back, actually to get some ice for my eye,â
âIâll come with you,â you heard three voices insist. Damn, were you popular or something? You felt like the main character in the movie, y/n in those corny fanfictions you used to read as a teenager.
Miwa, Gojo, and Sukuna all extended a hand out to you. You laughed at the sheer ridiculity of the situation, never receiving this kind of attention in the entirety of your 21 years of existence.
Gojo was surprisingly the most insistent, and you were almost swept up, not even realizing he was hoisting you up and carrying you bridal style in his arms.
Sukuna was seething, his face in utter disbelief. Gojo barely knew you. Sure, Sukuna wasnât an idiot. He could tell his friend was attracted to you, interested in you. Heâd heard him asking Shoko for some lousy âhelpâ, asking her to âput him onâ.
Stupid things like that. Gojo had always been bold, often trying to talk to taken girls at parties, audaciously in front of their boyfriends. It had gotten him into a bit of trouble. Sukuna had never thought heâd be on the receiving end of the feeling.
âSatoru put her down,â Suguru said, cracking up. Everyone was amused, even Mei Mei wore a slight smirk on her face at the dramatics of Gojo. Except Sukuna, of course.
âIâm fine, dude,â you huffed, tapping his shoulder to let you down. You were light as a feather in his surprisingly muscular arms. For how flamboyant he acted, he had a lot of muscle to combat it. Probably helped with all the angry boyfriends of the girls heâd try and hit on.
Gojo laughed, stubbornly keeping hold of you, âYeah, yeah, Iâll put you down when we get back to the house. Your eye is the size of a baseball,â he grimaced.
âJust put her down, Satoru. And I have to get something from the house, I forgot my phone. So I can just take her,â Sukuna lunged closer to the two of you.
âItâs fine, Iâll grab your phone for you, yeah? The red one with the clear case?â Gojo said lightly, already beginning to walk toward the house.
Sukuna wanted nothing more than to knock the pretty boyâs sunglasses into his face, but he decided to be mature. Take a deep breath. He could check up on you later, making damn sure you were okay, shower you with snacks and concern.
Biting his lip, he simply nodded, âYeah. The first aid kit is-â
Just then, Sukunaâs bright red phone began ringing loudly in his short pocket. His eyes widened in embarrassment, caught in a lie.
âYour phone, huh?â Shoko said with a laugh, rolling her eyes. Sukuna was so predictable to her.
âThought you forgot it?â Geto asked, his eyebrow raised and his face sporting a smirk.
âI thought I did. I guess itâs like when youâre looking for your glasses but theyâre on top of your head,â he said smoothly, shrugging his shoulders, âAlright hurry up Satoru, her eyeâs practically purple,â
You smiled softly at Sukuna, and he returned it.
Gojo began walking back to the beach house. It wasnât a far walk, maybe ten minutes. They had decided to go to the more public part of the beach, not connected to the patio of the house to use the volleyball nets.
The rest of the sorority girls and frat boys were on their own daily adventures, the house pretty much empty. It was almost lunch time, after all.
âYou good, hm?â Gojo looked down at you, your faces oddly close together. You felt your face warm at the sudden closeness.
âYeah. I just canât see out of this eye. I hate the taste of blood, ya know,â you huffed, pointing to your left eye.
âWho doesnât? I mean I guess vampires,â he smiled. He looked good even from your angle, one that would usually be unflattering to most.
But he still managed to look great, jawline prodding, milky skin slightly dusted pink from the sun, and his piercing blue eyes staring down at you through the shade of his sunglasses.
âIâm sure Edward and Bella would love to be me right now,â you joked, hoping heâd pick up on the reference.
âJust Edward. Girl, Bella isnât even a vampire. Edward wanted to suck her blood,â he said, rolling his eyes jokingly. It seemed he picked up what you were putting down.
Still in his arms, you were glad that there werenât too many people at that particular side of the beach that day. You, carried princess style over a nose bleed and eye injury was utterly ridiculous. But he did insist. And you kind of liked it.
âOh, shut up. You wonât out-Twilight me. Iâm talking about after he turned her in Breaking Dawn Part 2,â you raised an eyebrow seriously. You were a diehard fan back in your pre-teen years.
âShit, itâs been a while for me. You really know your stuff, hm?â he looked down at you again with a turnt smile.
âDamn right I do. I was a Twihard back in the day,â you could see his eyes widen at that, excitedly.
âActually? Same! I made Geto and Shoko watch the movies with me. You can ask her, she hated them,â he laughed.
âYou seem like youâd like it,â he seemed like heâd have nerdy or unconventional interests. Even for a guy who was in a frat and had his fair share of Saturday night hookups. He was quirky, to say the least.
âI know, Iâm niche,â he said smugly, âAlright, weâre here. Want me to put you down now?â
You patted his arm, leaving his warm, tight, grasp, lightly offering him a small thank you as he put you down on the couch. He simply smiled.
âI think the first aid kit is in the pantry of all places,â he quickly speed-walked over to the pantry to fetch the first aid kit, âIâll make an ice pack,â
âThank you,â you settled deeper into the couch. It was comfortable, sinking into the fluffy leather and soft blanket.
âOf course,â he smiled, placing the perfect bag of ice wrapped in a thin towel gently on your eye, âI make these a lot,â
âWhyâs that? You pick fights with people often?â you winced, at the cool feeling on your eye. It smelled a bit like tea, the cloth.
Gojo hummed, standing up again to get a box of tissues and a washcloth. Lightly, he passed the box to you, and wiped the dried up patches of blood off the bottom of your face. He smelled fragrant, sweet, almost.
âSurprisingly, no. Iâm delicate,â he feigned, âNah, but I get injured during games a lot, bruises and stuff. I put some green tea on it, itâs supposed to be soothing,â
âOh, you play football like Sukuna? Or volleyball, youâre pretty goodâ, you trailed on. You remember briefly Shoko asking you to come to one of Gojoâs games with her when Utahime was swamped with work and she had no one to go with.
âThanks,â he smirked, âBut nah, I play hockey believe it or not,â
âWhat?â you laughed, âDidnât you just say youâre delicate? Isnât that a super contact sport?â
He hummed, âEhh, yeah but at least itâs fun. And my parents liked me playing it more than volleyball, so I took it more seriously. And thatâs how I go here,â
âI did always wonder how you got into the same college as Shoko and Geto. And me, of course,â you joked.
âIâm very smart, too, so that helped,â he laughed, ruffling his soft, white hair.
âYeah, sure,â your bloody nose was calming down, and it was mostly your eye that was bugging you. You were still wrapping your head around Mei Mei having that hard of a hit. She did have a banging body, though, you had to admit.
âYouâre mean,â he pretended to be hurt, âBut youâre right. Iâm lucky I was good at something. I couldnât just let Shoko and Sugu leave me behind,â he smiled, closing his eyes.
âYa know, I thought youâd come to my play off game last season. I asked Shoko to invite you,â Gojo said, face reminiscent.
âI think I do remember her asking me to come. But I just thought it was because Utahime or Geto couldnât join her and she didnât wanna go alone,â you shrugged.
âNah, I wanted you to come,â he smiled, âI wish you did, you wouldâve seen me win and see how much aura I have,â
Your face scrunched up, your eye throbbing, âEugh. What aura?â he rolled his eyes, âBut you couldâve just asked me to come. Donât know why youâd talk to me through Shoko,â
âI guess, but thatâs so boring. Asking through another person is so theatric and makes me more excited,â he smiled, clapping his hands together, âAnd also, she told me you didnât like me all that much, soâ
âYeah, I didnât,â you laughed, âBut I like you now. You like Twilight, too,â
âThatâs the only reason?â he let out a hearty laugh, âNot because I carried you here for miles and nursed you back to health, hm?â
âIt was like half a mile, max. And you gave me a towel and napkins. Itâs a good thing youâre a comms major,â you looked at him blankly.
âTrue. Not like it was hard, anyway. Youâre light as a feather and Iâm super strong and shit,â he flexed his muscles jokingly.
You lightly touched the head of his bicep, and his usual cocky personality slipped a bit, face warming and lips parting slightly, âYeah, I guess. Iâve think Iâve only seen you at the gym a few times, I used to work there ya know,â
âUh- yeah. I know, I used to see you there,â he paused, âThe front desk, right?â
âYeah. Did you just come a lot in the evening? I worked the morning to afternoon shift mostly,â he murmured a small âyou goodâ as he adjusted your ice pack.
âHmm, yeah I mostly would go with Sugu at night,â he said.
âMakes sense,â you hummed.
âTeam Edward or team Jacob?â Gojo asked like it was a dealbreaker question, quickly attempting to start a new topic of conversation.
âObviously team Edward. But I also think her life was sad, if Jacob wasnât an ass her life with him couldâve been way better,â you said without hesitation. It was something you had spent a lot of time debating back in middle school.
âWow,â he said, smile wide, âI think Iâm in love,â
âEugh. I feel like thatâs a popular opinion,â you said, rolling your eyes.
âProbably. Itâs my exact thoughts. Also her poor dad,â he said, seriously.
âTrue. He was probably the real victim of the saga,â you said, shifting upwards a bit to sit higher on the couch.
âSeriously. Ya know, we should watch the movies together some time. I havenât seen em in forever, and Shoko and Geto would never,â he shifted closer to you.
âMaybe. Utahime and Miwa hate it too. We mostly watch musical movies together. Or anime,â you said. The thought of hanging one on one with Gojo was foreign to you.
A few days ago, you hadnât even considered a friend. Finding out there was a lot you two had in common wasnât on your bingo card, but it wasnât something you were quick to reject.
Maybe your assumptions were wrong about him.
âAnime?â he smiled, even more excited than before, âI love anime! Even Sugu and Shoko will watch it with me,â
A loud swing of the door was heard, and Sukuna and your three girl friends filed in.
He was carrying a big bag from CVS, walking a little faster to where you were sitting on the couch.
âHey,â he huffed out, âYou good?â
You looked up at him, slightly moving the compress from your eye to look up at him better. Gojo was amused, looking up at Sukuna with a small smile.
He was upset, admittedly that Sukuna had ruined a nice moment between the two of you. The conversation was going great to him. The shared interests, your ability to banter and respond with unique and personal opinions just made him like you even more.
âYeah,â you softly smiled.
âRyomen over here dragged our asses one hundred blocks to find the damn CVS. Remind me never to let you lead us anywhere,â Shoko huffed, Utahime and Miwa lightly laughing.
âHey- it was telling me to go up M Street, it was wrong, not me-â he sighed, rummaging through the bag and showing you what heâd bought.
âHere,â he started, âYour eye is so swollen,â he sighed, looking like it pained him personally.
He set out a bottle of Advil, caffeine-infused under eye cream, cold gel masks, your favorite chips.
âOh- thank you,â you smiled, picking up the bottle of Advil first. Hopefully itâd ease the pain of your face, your nose starting to ache a bit as well.
âYeah,â he breathed out, taking a seat on the couch next to you.
âAre you okay, though?â Utahime said, coming closer to see the state of your face, Miwa following close behind. Their faces slightly dropped at the sight of the swell of your eye.
You nodded, âI hate that bitch, for the hundreth time,â Shoko said, getting a glass of water, âYou should put her on a damn leash Ryomenâ
Gojo snickered, turning his head in Shokoâs direction, âI know. It was out of line,â Sukuna admitted, turning to you.
âYeah, way out of line. Iâve never liked her. Remember when she thought I was coming onto you, she spilled her drink all over my new dress,â Shoko rolled her eyes at Sukuna.
Sukuna paused, beginning to speak, but Gojo cut him off, âLetâs just get something to eat for lunch. So negative, itâs not good for our skin,â he said, turning his attention toward you.
He playfully took your hand in his, âWhat do you wanna eat? Letâs eat what you want to,â
You laughed softly. Sukuna didnât like what you had going on Gojo. He was used to him being the only guy in the frat you were friends with.
This newfound thing the two of you had going on, he decided, he didnât like.

I fratkuna x fem nerd(ish) reader, mostly fluff, eventual 18+ content, not many sukuna and reader moments but next chapter trust
â± ââââââ {.â â« â .}ââââ
The next morning, you woke up to two extremely hungover girls laying in the bed opposite to you. It was Saturday, there was work at night, but the day was free. The clock read 11:31 am, and you were just waking up.
Utahime and Shoko were passed out on her bed, tangled together in the purple comforter. You knew Utahime had her internship in a bit, so you thought itâd be wise to wake her up. Gently, of course.
Both girls shifted in their sleep and began to gain consciousness, rubbing their eyes and immediately grabbing their head in sheer pain.
You hear a quiet âWhat the hellâ murmured from one of them, probably Shoko. She was wincing in pain and fully getting up then, rubbing her temples vigorously in an attempt to soothe the pounding rhythm of her head.
She wrapped her arms around Utahime, propping her up and shaking her gently, prompting, âMmm, wake up. You have thirty minutes,â she said affectionately.
Utahime finally woke fully, holding the side of her head in a cupped manner. God, they were so hungover. You hadnât seen them like this since last Halloween. Even then.
Seeing their clear headache and pain, you got up to fill your Brita with some more water and buy some orange juice. After your first time getting hungover last Halloween, you decided you really hated the feeling. Sipping on water and orange juice were the only things that got you through the morning. Before the soup and Advil kicked in.
âGod, thank you Y/n.â Utahime said, putting her clothes on and getting her backpack ready with some random stack of papers and her half-charged laptop. She reached over and poured herself a cup of water, gulping it down and passing it to Shoko.
She hummed with gratitude and drank it, still rubbing her head. âHow was dashing yesterday? You were passed out when we got back. I think. Lowkey I donât even remember.â Shoko said, struggling to recount the events before she collapsed on her girlfriendâs bed.
You had almost forgotten about the other night. After taking a shower and doomscrolling for a bit, you fell asleep, not waiting up for the two of them to get back the other night.
Groaning and burying your face in your pillow, you replied, âOh my God it was lowkey bad. I have to tell you guys something,â
They both turned toward you, their interests piqued. Utahime had slowed her haste to get out the door, clearly more invested in what you were about to say.
âWhat? What happened?â Shoko said, scooting closer to the edge of the bed.
âYou guys wonât believe this. You guys know a girl named Mei Mei?â you asked. Shoko had a visceral reaction to hearing the name, scrunching up her face,
âEugh. Yeah, I do. Sheâs a bitch,â Shoko said rolling her eyes.
âIs that that girl from the other night with the white hair?â Utahime asked, Shoko nodding at the question.
âYeah. Sheâs in that sorority thatâs always coming to all the damn events. I hate her. Why? What happened with her?â Shoko asked, face still looking like she tasted something sour.
You pursed your lips before answering, âGuys. She fully DoorDashed condoms from me. To that damn party you guys were at.â
Shoko and Utahime both burst out in laughter, Shoko practically rolling around the floor at that point with tears in her eyes. They were very surprised at the sheer ridiculousness of the request you had gotten.
Out of breathe, Shoko gasped, âWhat? You can DoorDash- I didnât even know you could DoorDash that kind of thing,â still laughing and clutching her chest. Utahime had calmed down at that point, but still had a smile plastered across her pinkish face.
You were laughing too at that point, shrugging your shoulders, âI guess so. That wasnât even the worst part,â
âWhat? She make you come inside and deliver it? How did we not see you?â, Utahime asked, attempting to recount the events from the other night.
You shook your head no, âWhen she was coming outside to get them, Sukuna was following her out. I think cause she was so drunk. But anyway it was goofy just because he invited me to the party and I told him I was gonna be out of townâŠâ you said, trailing off a bit and fake-choking yourself.
Shokoâs eyes widened in surprise, âHe asked you to come to the party? What?â
âYeah. He did. But then bro. He was obviously confused and then Toji comes out and is trying to like talk to me? But also it feels like heâs making fun of me? And itâs just awkward because⊠Sukunaâs standing like- right there,â you said, groaning.
âToji? Dude what? That doesnât even sound real. Nightmare blunt rotation. And whyâd Ryomen just stand there. He didnât say anything?,â Shoko said, face scrunched up.
You shrugged, âI think he was just really drunk, so I donât know,â Shoko rolled her eyes at that, face still scrunched up.
âEw, wait whyâs Toji making fun of you? Youâre not the one whoâs ordering the condoms,â Utahime asked with an eyebrow raised.
âDude I think it was the DoorDashing maybe I looked funny. I donât even really know actually,â you said, recalling what happened.
Shoko scoffed, âWhyâs he making fun of someone getting their money up.â she said.
You and Utahime laughed at that, and you looked down at your phone to see if you got any notifications. The time read 11:52 am.
âUtahime, you should probably go now. Already 11:52 am,â you said, rolling around in your comforter, happy you had nowhere to be.
She checked her watch in a panic, gathering her stuff and taking one last look at herself in the mirror, âOh shoot, thanks. Shoko, you still gonna walk me?â, she asked gesturing for her to come out with her.
âOh, yeah. Bye y/n, have a good day of rotting!â Shoko and Utahime waved as they exited the room. The door closed with a click, and you turned on your heater, getting comfortable in bed.Â
You had a few hours before you had a short shift, so you decided youâd take the time to rest and recoup some energy by watching your phone and maybe a mindless movie in the background.Â
Sitting up, you went to the snack stash you and Utahime kept in a bin by your desks and got a few things to eat in bed.Â
Suddenly, you felt your phone vibrate under you.Â
It was Sukuna. What?Â
Sukuna: hey sorry about the texts from the other night
Sukuna: i was gone atp lolÂ
You smiled, remembering the previous messages full of spelling errors and weirdly phrased sentences.Â
You: Itâs all goodÂ
You: Youre funny when ur drunk
He replied instantly.Â
Sukuna: so im not when im soberÂ
You laughed at that, thumbing the keyboard.Â
You: I guess bro
He thumbs downed your message and replied with an eye roll emoji: we still good for tuesday? Sassy
You: Yeah ofc
He liked your message, and you began putting on a movie, not even noticing the small smile still plastered on your face. Maybe Tuesday wouldnât be so bad after all.Â
âÂ
It was a nicer day around fifty degrees and you decided to take it to your advantage, going on a nice walk in the morning before the tutoring session at noon.Â
A part of you was a little nervous for it, as much as you didnât want to admit it. Surely, it wouldnât be awkward with the recent text messages, but you still hadnât seen him in person since the party.Â
Having already walked a bit in the morning, you were wide awake and in a good state of mind. Taking the last bite of your toast, you made your way over to the campus library.Â
You arrived at the room, and he was already sitting inside. On the hard chair, of course. Recently, he had been beating you to the room, eager to get to the tutoring session. Eager to learn, you guessed.Â
Making eye contact with him through the glass door, you saw his eyes slightly widen and his lips purse into a smile.Â
âHey,â he breathed out, readjusting in his seat slightly. âI keep getting here before you do.â he said with a small smile, beginning to rummage through his messy backpack.Â
âYeah, I know right,â you said with a huff, taking a seat in the cushioned chair. âYou should really clean that thing,â you said, gesturing to his backpack.Â
He smiled at that, finally revealing what heâd been searching for in that black hole of a bag. It was a medium-sized blue paper gift bag, a bit crinkled with bits of tissue paper hanging out of the top of it.
âI probably should.â he said, placing the bag on the table. âHere. Itâs for you,â sliding it over to your side of the small table.Â
Your eyes slightly widened at that, not knowing what to expect. Reluctantly taking the bag and sliding it closer to you, you unlodged the tissue paper from the top of the bag.Â
Two mega-sized bottles of your favorite shampoo and conditioner in a gingerly wrapped gift bag tied with a satin pink ribbon was the first thing you pulled out. The brand was your absolute favorite, and the only thing that worked for your hair, but you rarely bought it. It was very expensive, an occasional luxury youâd buy for yourself here and there.Â
The next thing you took out was your drink of choice: an Arnold Palmer iced tea, still slightly cold.Â
How did he know you liked all that stuff?Â
âWhat? Whyâd you get me all this stuff?â you said with a surprised laugh and a raised eyebrow. âThis shitâs expensive-âÂ
âJust think of it as an apology. Sorry for all that shit at the party⊠and then me texting you like that after- Iâm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. And all that shit with Mei Mei and Toji,â he said, slightly looking away at the last bit, reluctant but genuine with his apology.Â
You raised an eyebrow, softly laughing again, âItâs okay, Sukuna. You didnât need to get me all this stuff. Weâre good. I canât accept this, though.â you said, gesturing to the shampoo and conditioner set. âItâs really expensive. But Iâll drink this,â you said with a smile, grabbing at the iced tea.
âShoko told me it was your favorite hair⊠thing. Asked her over the weekend and she called me an asshole. Told me to buy the biggest size. Just take them, I canât even return them,â he said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
You hadnât seen him like this thus far. Granted, you didnât know him very well at that point, but from everything youâve heard of him prior to that, he didnât seem like one to apologize like this, genuinely, with a nice gift.Â
Sighing, you wore a small smile on your face, âAlright⊠Thank you, Sukuna. Itâs nice. Iâll be good on this stuff forâŠâ you started, taking a look at the bottles again, âforever, probably,âÂ
He huffed out a small laugh at that, almost bashful, âWell, good. Consider it appreciation too. BecauseâŠâ he said, sifting through his backpack, placing a piece of paper face down on the table.Â
âI just got my first B. Thanks to you, of course,â he said, looking up at you with a boyish grin. It was obvious he was excited to show you, and had been since heâd received his paper back in class that morning.Â
A genuine smile plastered across your face as you took the paper in hand, taking note of the lack of red marks on the paper. âWow! Thatâs great, youâre really improving. Iâm happy,â you said with a hum.Â
âOf course I am. I think Iâm finally getting this shit,â he said, pleased at your reaction. You seemed genuinely proud of him and his progress, which made him a tad motivated. Actually, not just a tad.Â
âSooner or later, you wonât even need me, ya know. Howâs your overall grade looking? The quarterâs almost over,â you said, trailing off a bit at the end.Â
You had forgotten that the tutoring was contractual, only up until he felt it was necessary. A part of you wished he would keep getting worse. Maybe then you could just keep seeing him like this. Brushing off the thought as foolish, you snapped back to the reality of the situation.Â
Your statement seemed to have a similar effect on him, as he raised his eyebrows slightly, âOh, donât worry. Youâre not off the hook just yet. My gradeâs still like a C. This is only my first B. Weâve got a long way to go,â he said with a slight smirk, his playful attitude returning.Â
A part of him, also, didnât want your time of tutoring to be over, planning to have you help him for the rest of the semester.Â
You sighed, pretending to be annoyed, unable to hide your blooming smile, âA C? Are you serious?âÂ
âYep. Hey, thatâs pretty good for me. Just need to do a bit better next quarter with a B and Iâll pass the class.â he said, smiling like itâd be easy. He was improving, even if it was a small bit. It could be possible with your help, you supposed.Â
âAlright, that can be done. You just gotta do well like this on every quiz.â you said, gesturing at the quiz paper. âSo⊠what do you wanna go over today?â you asked.
He hummed lowly, âI guess we can go over the problems you assigned. But Iâm pretty good for now. Quarterâs ending and thereâs not much new material.â he said, shuffling through his bag to find his notebook.Â
You nodded slowly, noting that he didnât have much to go over. Did he want to end the session early? Was that his way of insinuating that?Â
Looking over the papers, you pulled out your red pen to correct his work, âYou got any specific questions on any of these, seems like you know whatâs going on you got everything right⊠except a few negative signs you dropped,âÂ
He nodded, looking a bit proud of himself, âYeah. I think I got this unit down, not gonna lie.âÂ
Hesitating, he looked around a bit before starting again, âWe could just hang for a bit today. Unless you have something to do,âÂ
Sukuna looked a bit nervous, almost, eyes darting around the room and fingers drumming against the table. You found it kind of cute when he would do that.Â
Your eyes broaden a bit at his proposition, âNah, I donât. Iâm a free agent till we usually end,â you pause, looking down at your phone, âso we have another hour and a half. What are you thinking?âÂ
Seemingly pleased with your answer, he nodded gently, looking like he was thinking of an idea, âI mean I guess we could just stay here. Or we could go to the coffee shop down the street, I could use some,âÂ
You hadnât hung out per se outside of your tutoring sessions. I mean, why would you guys? The sessions had always stayed at the singular room in the library. There were times where you wanted to maybe move it to a cafe or somewhere more informal, but thought it would be too awkward to ask.Â
It made you happy that Sukuna wanted to do something casual, like get a cup of coffee, with you. No tutoring involved.Â
Smiling minutely, âSure, yeah. That place is pretty good. What do you usually get there,â you asked, packing up your things, your backpack overflowing from the blue bag and all your other books.Â
âHmm, well, I guess just the espresso with a little milk,â he said, packing up his own things and putting on his zip-up jacket.
You laughed at that a bit, hoisting your bag on your shoulders. âOf course. Thatâs so typical,â The bag was weighing heavy on you, as you rolled your shoulders up a few times to adjust your back better.Â
Without a word, he zipped open your backpack and took back the blue bag, âDonât worry, Iâm not taking it back,â he said with a small laugh. âMy bagâs bigger, I can just carry it. Also, what do you mean typical?âÂ
âOh-thanks. Itâs so boring. It probably tastes like nothing,â you said, scrunching up your face.Â
He scoffed jokingly at that, opening the door and gesturing for you to walk out with him, âItâs what I like. Let me guess, your coffee is basically white,âÂ
âI guess so, yeah. I like sweet things, so I usually get iced coffee. Itâs what normal people order,â you joked.Â
âThatâs not gonna help me feel awake. Iâm sure it tastes pretty good, though,â he laughed as both of you guys stopped at the crosswalk to get to the shop.Â
The crosswalk let up, and the walking sign lit up, âIt does. You should get it today, itâs already a little past noon. You should be awake,âÂ
âYeah, maybe I will. You have to drink my espresso order, then,â he said with a smile.Â
The conversation and energy between you felt natural and light. The feeling you had when you were around Sukuna, even when you were texting him, was one you didnât want to address. But you couldnât deny, was growing.Â
â
The third quarter was coming to a close, and spring was well upon the campus. The weather had been increasingly warmer, and the flowers were fully in bloom.Â
Spring in Tokyo was beautiful, sunny, and best of all: optimistic. After the dreary, cold winter months, the spring was forgiving and forced even the most negative pissants to bask in the goodness of it all.Â
You were no exception. The comforting weather and idyllic environment was raising your spirits.Â
Waking up from your nap to a ray of sunshine peeking through your window and a fuzzy warmth enveloping your room, you stretched out and smiled. Today was the Monday before spring break. Two and a half weeks of pure relaxation. You just had to get through the week ahead.
You were originally planning to visit your parents back home, going on a small local vacation with them to spend some quality family time. But then your mom signed up her and your dad for this weird holistic health retreat her friend from church was going on.Â
Not wanting to be caught up in some cult like escapade, you decided upon staying on campus and just hanging out with your friends. Utahime and Miwa werenât visiting home for their own reasons, so you three had planned a wonderful two and a half weeks of good food, rotting, and occasional outings.Â
Gaining more consciousness, you yawned and went to brush your hair. When you slept and you didnât put your hair in some type of protective style, such as a braid, it became extremely knotted and nest-like.Â
Noticing Utahime wasnât in her bed or in the room, you assumed that she had gone to the dining hall or was hanging with Shoko. The time on your phone read 7:11 pm after all, so she was likely doing the latter.Â
Breaking the train of your thought, Utahime, Miwa, and Shoko burst into the room, already in a bustling conversation.Â
âCome on, at least consider it Hime- oh hey! Youâre upâ, Shoko said, yanking open the door and putting her hands together, playfully pleading with her girlfriend.Â
Utahime and Miwa greeted you by your name. You smiled, still brushing your hair, and they quickly returned to the topic of conversation.Â
âI donât know Shoko. I feel weird just showing up like that. Especially so late notice. I mean, we arenât their friends, why would we stay for free?â, Utahime said with a sigh, checking her hair and outfit in the long mirror.Â
Miwa put her bag down and sprawled down on your bed, laying down with her head in your lap. âYeah, dude. We already planned a bunch of shit. Like itâs fine if Hime goes cause sheâs your girl. But all three of us? Hime, you should just go,âÂ
âGo where?â, you asked, not following their continued conversation, likely from the dining hall.Â
âShokoâs asking if we wanna go on their âfratcationâ at Zushi Beach. Apparently your best friend Sukuna has a beach house down there, so theyâre all going,â Miwa said, playing with locks of your hair falling over her face.Â
âOh?â, you said, not expecting that. Wow, you thought, he has a beach house? Thatâs⊠nice. The thought of visiting and staying in his house excited you, and you were curious to see it. To stay in the same vicinity as him.Â
âYeah, you guys should all come. Ryomen said I could invite anyone I wanted, itâs a huge house and it wouldnât be weird. I promise. Suguru and Satoru really want me to go. And I really want Hime to come and you guys, so please?â Shoko asked with an angelic smile and puppy dog-like eyes.Â
âAre you sure itâs fine? We arenât really⊠like friends.â you said, trailing off a bit at the end. The reality was: you were friends with one of them. The owner of the house, at that.Â
âOh, please. Youâre literally besties with Ryomen at this point. Everytime you shampoo now you have to think of himâ Shoko said with a laugh, rolling her eyes playfully. Utahime and Miwa giggling in response.Â
âShut up. Just feels weird. But Iâd be lying if I said I didnât want to go to the beach over break. Weâre gonna be here anyway,â you shrugged.Â
Over the past few months, you had loosened up quite a bit. Recently, money had been looking up, and you had saved quite a bit. Your father was caught up with a lot of his bills, and you no longer felt the immense pressure to work yourself to death like a few months ago. You breathed a little easier.Â
Miwa sighed, agreeing, âI mean, yeah. If Shoko said itâs fine, then it should be fine, right?âÂ
Shoko smiled, âYeah, totally fine! Promise. Those little shits are loaded, and they want us to come. Ryomen was gonna invite you anyway,â she said looking at you.Â
Your eyes widened at that, and you felt a blush creep onto your face. He was? Did that make you guys friends⊠or maybeâŠÂ
Utahime broke your flustered state, smiling and pursing her lips playfully, âOkay, fine. Then itâs decided, yeah? Weâll go.â she said, lacing her hand with Shokoâs, who was smiling ear to ear.Â
âHooray! Weâre gonna have so much fun, I promise. We should go shopping for snacks and all that,â Shoko said, rambling off about the more minuscule details.Â
âOh, yeah! We should go Thursday night. Arenât we all free that day?â you started, getting excited. You canât remember the last time you went on holiday, so you were hoping this trip would be something special.Â
Miwa smiled sheepishly, âNah, I canât that day. Iâm hanging with Kokichi before he goes back home to visit his family,â she said, tucking a piece of blue hair behind her ear.Â
Miwa was typically outgoing and said every thought that tantalized her mind. As of recently, though, sheâd shared that she began a relationship with a guy in her physics class. A mechanical engineering major: Kokichi Muta.Â
He was different from the other guys Miwa ever dated. Extremely quiet, introverted, and⊠nerdy almost. But from the two times youâd met him, once in passing and the other at the dining hall, you could tell he really cared about her. It was in the way he remembered to grab her utensils because she tended to forget them once she sat down to eat, or the way he held her bag in between classes.Â
Despite his quietness, he was cordial and kind to you and Utahime, always greeting you both and offering a small smile, asking how you were. You both approved of it, noting how shy and different she acted around him, or at the mention of him. She really liked him, it seemed.Â
You three smirked at her words, Utahime starting, âOh, really? Well, have fun. We can always do another day. You guys have been hanging out so much recently, stop ditching us,âÂ
Laughing, Miwa rolled over, âI guess so. Itâs really just studying for physics,âÂ
âYeah, sure. Well what about Friday, itâs lowkey last minute but itâs fine,â you said, stretching out a bit.Â
The three girls all nodded, âThat should be fine. We can go to that market right outside the West Gate, they have the shrimp chips and big packs of Coke there,â Miwa said excitedly.Â
Shoko smiled, hugging her girlfriend dramatically, âIâm so happy you guys are coming! Itâll be so fun, I promise!âÂ
You smiled to yourself, happy that you four would be spending the spring break all together at a nice beach house. There was a brewing hope in your heart that you would be able to hang out with Sukuna at his beach house, or have the opportunity to get closer to him. In more ways than one.Â
âÂ
Thursday had come, and sure enough, Sukuna invited you on his own merit at your biweekly tutoring session.
âHey⊠so,â he started. âI had a question,â shuffling in his seat, slightly adjusting his hips to sit up a bit straighter. He was in the middle of a problem set, and had only been able to think of the question circling in his mind.Â
You had a small idea as to what it could be, but decided to let him ask his question, âYeah, sure. Whatâs up?â casually raising your eyebrows at him.Â
âWell for spring break the frat always does this thing at Zushi Beach. I was wondering if youâd like to come. I asked Shoko to invite you but- I didnât know if she did or- so I just thought Iâd ask you myself,â he said, nodding his head slowly, pursing his lips a bit.Â
A smile was growing on your face, looking down slightly before you answered, âOh, uh- yeah. She did. Invite me. And, thank you-,â suddenly feeling awkward. âFor the invite. She, uh, invited her girlfriend too, and my other friend.âÂ
He seemed to relax a bit, shoulders slightly easing down, âOh, yeah,â he smiled a bit, âItâs all good, just felt bad. Shokoâs usually the only non-sorority girl every year so I thought itâd be cool if she invited a few friends,âÂ
A part of you wished heâd say he invited you because he thought the two of you were friends, at the very least. His words reminded you of the reality of the situation, that youâd likely be hanging out with Miwa the entirety of it. There were going to be beautiful girls from the sorority after all, why would Sukuna be hanging out with you during his âfratcationâ?Â
Masking the small pang of disappointment you felt, you smiled, graciously, âThatâs really nice of you. I mean⊠Iâm really only going because Shoko begged me to. At first I was super excited, but then she said it was your beach house soâŠâ you said jokingly.Â
He laughed softly at that, enjoying the lame jokes you would make at least twice during your tutoring sessions, âHey, whatâs so wrong with that? We have a problem?â, he asked with a grin.Â
âYeah, we do. Youâre not done with the worksheet, yet. Itâs been half an hour and youâre barely through it,â you sighed, not genuinely upset but pretending to be.Â
Jokingly rolling his eyes, âYeah, yeah. I was distracted. Was thinking about how- or if I should ask you that. Whole time Shoko already asked, it was all for nothing,âÂ
You huffed out a small laugh, âNo, it was nice you asked. I feel⊠more at ease about it now, I guess.âÂ
He raised his eyebrows slightly at that, his face growing a soft smile, âWell, good. Itâll be really fun, promise,âÂ
âI believe it. Ya know, Iâm actually really looking forward to it. Itâs been so long since Iâve been to the beach. And I really loved to swim as a kid,â you mused, reminiscing a bit.
The summer after junior high, your family took a trip to a small beach an hour from your hometown. For a week, you three did nothing but swim, eat, and sleep in the basking sun and cool summer breeze.Â
The months leading up to that summer, you begged your parents to take you to the beach after Utahime got you into Ouran High School Host Club. Your favorite bit was âThe Sun, The Sea, and the Host Club!â, so naturally you began daydreaming about your very own beach episode.Â
He smiled, small and gentle at your nostalgic expression. He found it cute, âOh, really? Did you do it competitively or something?â, raising his eyebrows curiously.
âOh, no,â you said, shaking your head, âI just had so much fun the last time I went, swam all day basically. Wore my dad out making him race me in the water,â smiling a bit at the thought of your father, slightly burnt and clearly fatigued.Â
A small laugh escaped him, âPoor him. Had to deal with your bossy attitude,â he said, teasing you.Â
You let out an amused scoff, âI wouldnât say Iâm bossy,âÂ
âYou kinda are recently. But itâs not a bad thing,â fully grinning now, âAnyway, maybe you can race me in the water in a few days,â he said in a playful tone. The Sukuna everyone made him out to be was peeking out, his previous guise of shyness, if you could even call it that, fading by the minute.Â
âMaybe. Iâm pretty fast, though. And do your worksheet, stop trying to distract me. Youâre not paying me to have conversations and crack jokes all day,â you said, tapping lightly at the worksheet, not even half-way complete.Â
âYeah, yeah, fine, Iâll do it,â jokingly rolling his eyes and gripping his pen again, âAnd Iâll hold you to it, you owe me a race,â quickly looking up at you with a small smile.Â
You felt your face slightly warm at that look of his, raising your eyebrows slightly, âOh- uh. Yeah, sure,âÂ
The excitement that was brewing in your heart, you shamefully began to realize, was because of a certain pink-haired fraternity boy rather than splashing in the waves.Â
âÂ
You were woken up by a gentle nudge from Utahime. It was Sunday, 9:34 am. Usually, you wouldnât get up until noon if you didnât have work or plans, but your friends wanted an early start to the âfratcationâ.Â
Groggily rubbing your eyes, you mumbled a small âgoodmorningâ to Utahime, and began getting ready for the day. Throwing on a comfortable t-shirt and some linen pants, you began brushing your hair, calming the parts sticking out everywhere.Â
The other night, you and Utahime had stuffed your duffle bags to their fullest capacities. You both had saved the packing for the last second, per usual.Â
Packing with her was fun, but unproductive, validating all of the clothing items you would ask one another if you should pack. By the end of it, you both had packed about ten different tank tops, God knows how many bathing suits, and an absurd amount of jean shorts.Â
And that didnât include the miscellaneous tote bag full of snacks you all bought the night before. Market runs with the four of you always ended up⊠diverse.Â
Shoko liked spicy snacks, Miwa went crazy for sour candy, Utahime preferred sweet bread, and you loved savory chips. Hence, the overflowing bag of junk food in the center of your room, all flavor palettes considered.Â
âYou ready? I think Shokoâs parked at the end of the block,â Utahime said, lugging her purple duffle to the exit of your dorm room.Â
âYeah, Iâm all ready,â you said with a yawn, hoisting the snack bag on your shoulder, yellow duffle bag in hand.Â
âOkay, letâs go. Thank God we live on the first floor, dude,â Utahime huffed out, already tired from carrying her bag.Â
You laughed breathily, âI know right. You excited? Spring break with your girlfriend,â you nudged, shooting her a giddy expression.Â
You, Utahime, and Miwa had been friends since elementary school ever since third grade. You three have conversations all the time in which you thank your teacher for seating you together for the year.Â
Throughout junior high and even high school, Utahime had never shown a particular interest in dating or romance. While you and Miwa occasionally rambled about random boys you thought were cute and small interactions you would have with them in the halls or in class, she vehemently listened, weighing in and adding into the excitement.Â
In college, she met Shoko at freshman orientation. After meeting her, she shared with you both for the first time that she indeed had a crush. A big one, at that.Â
You were genuinely happy to see it work out between the two of them, always attached at the hip and in your shared dorm room. Living vicariously through them and their genuine love and respect for one another restored your hope in finding a partner in life.Â
It helped that Shoko was extremely likeable, quickly gaining comfortability around her and beginning a close friendship with her as well.Â
You felt excited for your best friend and the week ahead of her. Although they hung 24/7, in the dorms, at meals, in classes, in between classes, pretty much all the time, an entire two and a half weeks in shared quarters at a beautiful beach was different.Â
She laughed, letting it reach her eyes, âYeah, I really am. Shoko was whining last year how she wished I had come last year. I hope we get to spend a lot of time,âÂ
âAw, that sounds like her,â you said with a laugh, âAnd you will,âÂ
âYou guys like the ride?â Shoko gestured to the red Honda CRV in the parking lot, awake as ever early in the morning. She was ecstatic.Â
âGuys, itâs really nice! The car smells like new, gosh, I love that smell,â Miwa said, inhaling the scent of the car with a smile.Â
You and Utahime hoisted your bags into the trunk of the car, laughing at Miwaâs peculiar passion for the nauseating ânew car smell.âÂ
Joining Miwa in the back, you hunched over the seat, rummaging in the tote bag for the snack bag. âOh, get me some of the Taki chips we bought yesterday,â Shoko said, putting on her sunglasses.Â
Utahime scrunched up her face playfully, âShoko, donât eat that stuff so early in the morning. You're gonna get bubble guts,âÂ
You brought out the bag anyway, handing it to her extended hand, âHey, sheâs driving so,â you said with a shrug.Â
Sighing, Utahime nagged, âOkay, fine. Only eat a bit. Iâll feed them to you so I can cut them off after a bit,â she said with a smile.Â
âFine, fine, fine, as long as you feed it to me,â Shoko laughed, âAlright, Google Maps is telling me thereâs like three and a half hours till we get to the house, so you guys should all just sleep,âÂ
âYou donât have to tell me twice,â you said, stretching out a bit and plugging in your earphones. You had learned that Shoko required minimal noise to focus well when she was driving, and you were still tired from the early wake-up.Â
âBy the way, I think the guys and the other people arenât getting there till like⊠dinner time. I thought we could eat something and explore a bit before they all got there and it gets crazy,â Shoko started, eyes flicking to the rearview mirror.Â
You and Miwa nodded, and you felt a small pitt in your stomach. The guys meant Sukuna. I mean, it was his house. And it was his âfratcationâ. But it was just hitting you that youâd be spending two and a half weeks in his house, seeing him outside of the usual academic setting.Â
After the tutoring session on Thursday, you had decided, begrudgingly, that your heart was growing fond of Sukuna Ryomen. He was different than you thought. A lot more real, a lot kinder, and⊠genuine. If you didnât know he was stupidly rich and in the infamous fraternity, youâd have categorized him as your type.Â
Your type was interesting. Up until then, the only kinds of guys you liked were ânerdsâ. Ones that didnât try but had perfect grades. Ones that wore glasses and had the same three shirts on rotation. Ones that smiled with all their teeth and weren't concerned about being cool or an asshole all the time. Ones that were kind to you.Â
Sukuna was anything but a nerd. He was athletic, conventionally handsome, and⊠perhaps street smart? But despite all those superficial characteristics, you could confidently say he was kind to you.Â
With the recent playful banter growing a touch flirtatious, the gift of expensive hair care, and an invite to his beach house, you could no longer deny it.Â
Pessimism was something you definitely needed to work on, because despite all of that, you still felt an impending sense of disappointment. Sukuna would probably be hanging out with his friends and the girls from the sorority, which made sense. But a big part of you wanted him to hang out with you.Â
Deciding to be optimistic, you shut down those thoughts and focused on having a great spring break with your friends. It didnât need to be dramatized, and if the opportunity to hang with Sukuna presented itself, youâd take it.Â
You werenât that oblivious to deny he was somewhat fond of you too.Â
âÂ
For lunch, Shoko took you guys to this small shop that sold fish tacos. It was good â actually good was an understatement. The dining hall food had conditioned your taste buds to think the flavorless walking chicken taco day was five star cuisine.Â
The four of you had since then been walking around the boardwalk, browsing small shops and laughing at the corny trinkets lining the shelves.Â
âHey, guys, I think we should start heading back to the car now. Satoru just texted and said they got there about twenty minutes ago,â Shoko said, taking off a gigantic fish hat and looking down at her phone, typing.Â
The three of you followed her out the store, and made your way back to the car garage. Miwa stretched out slightly on the seat, her phone vibrating twice.Â
She began typing at a fast pace, a smile growing on her sharp face, âIs it Kokichi?â, you asked with a smirk. You could always tell it was him, heâd always start with two texts: âHi Miwaâ and a question of how she was, if sheâd eaten, or what she was up to. That, and her flighty expression at his notifications.Â
Nodding with a smile, she got back to typing vigorously on her phone, âTell him we say hello. Did he get to his family alright?â, Utahime asked, shifting her body to turn back at us in the backseat.Â
She nodded, starting âHe says,â Miwa laughed, tucking a hair behind her ear, ââHello, have a fun trip. Donât let Miwa get too high please.â Such a worry wart,âÂ
Shoko burst out into laughter, âDude, we couldnât even help if we wanted to. Once you get around that stuff, youâre gone. Tell him itâs a lost cause,â Miwa rolled her eyes playfully, continuing to type on her phone.Â
âYeah, Iâm definitely not typing all that. Iâll be good, I promise,â she sighed, smiling at a photo Kokichi sent of him and his little siblings.Â
It didnât really cross your mind much that you were the only one in your group of friends not in a relationship. Not that it was a huge group of people anyway.Â
But in small moments like that, them checking on another, asking for a glimpse into their day when they were apart. Worrying about one another eating well and taking care of their health, holidays where it was basically unavoidable. You couldnât help but feel a deep pang of jealousy.Â
âDamn, the houses here are so nice,â Utahime said, peering through the window. Nice was, yet another, understatement. They were lavish. Gigantic. Luxurient.
The closer you got to the little blue dot on the GPS, the more consolidated and quiet the area became. The houses were all lining the beach front, but the area was becoming increasingly exclusive.Â
Shoko made an abrupt stop, and began backing into a large drive way, âWeâre here!â, she exclaimed while attempting to park backwards.Â
Turning back curiously to view the house youâd be staying at, you felt your jaw almost drop. It was beautiful. It spanned what seemed to be miles. You could see multiple balconies in your line of sight, a beautiful fire place peeking out from the back.Â
The windows were painted a gentle, pale pink and the rest of the house fell into a perfect color scheme. It was right on the beach too, the sand and wide, blue ocean spanning ahead.Â
âHoly shit, itâs huge!â, Miwa said, looking up from her phone with wide eyes.Â
âI know right, I told you guys! So big, they wonât even notice us dude. Remember you guys were all worried,â Shoko laughed, putting the car in park and unbuckling her seat belt.Â
âIt looks way bigger than it did in the pictures you sent me last year, wow! And right on the beach,â Utahime said with a smile, following her outside the car.Â
The three of you were smiling in excitement, and awe at the house in front of you. You all had grown up in a rural-adjacent town. There wasnât much to do, and the houses were all very similar. Small and drab.Â
Just staying in a house that nice gave you guys a little thrill. Miwa took out her phone, and began taking pictures enthusiastically.Â
âIâm showing Kokichi this, heâs not gonna believe it!â, you smiled at her excitement, sharing that same excitement.Â
âWe havenât even gone inside,â Shoko said with a laugh, âI told Satoru and Suguru to come out and help us with our bags, whatâs taking them so damn long,â she complained, tapping on her phone.Â
At that, you spotted three figures coming down to the end of the drive way.Â
The first one wore a bright smile, waving down at the you guys. A white mop of hair crowned his well-structured head, a lazy red button down lining his mid section. If you could even call it a button down, as his entire chest and abdomen was out for the entire world.Â
Satoru Gojo, one of Shokoâs best friends. Infamous frat boy, play boy, sweet-talker. All of those things. And you could tell from his overt charm and ways of styling himself.Â
The few interactions you had with him were in your freshman year English class in which you had to do a project with him and another person. That, and when youâd join Shoko for lunch occasionally. Letâs just say, he wasnât exactly your favorite.
He rarely contributed to the nearly quarter long project, forcing you and the other person to do most of the work for it. His excuse was the immense amount of stress he was receiving from organizing a recruitment event for the fraternity. I mean, seriously?Â
But at least heâd offered to pay for your food many times after, clearly remorseful.Â
The second wore a lazy smirk, hands in his pockets while trudging down the drive way. His long, black hair was tied up in a small bun, and he wore a plain white t-shirt along his long, skinny torso.
He was a bit quieter than Satoru or Shoko, and you assumed that was why they enjoyed having him, why they worked so well as a group of three. Due to his more introverted personality, you didnât really have many interactions with him.Â
The only one you can recall is him offering you his spare hair tie in the dining hall after you had asked Shoko for one. Geto was the guy you heard the least bad things about, always being mentioned as someone who was present or there for something crazy.Â
You were surprised that someone like him decided to join a fraternity, but, in truth, you didnât really know him all that well.Â
And to your surprise, the third one was none other than Sukuna Ryomen. You felt your face warm, and your eyes widen just the slightest amount.Â
He looked good. Probably the best he had ever looked. To you, at least.
His pink mop of hair was styled the way you liked it, a bit messy and down. Not spiked up. He wore a semi-transluscent white button up. Unlike Gojo, his was buttoned up almost all the way, but its opacity allowed the visibility of his toned abdomen and defined, lean, build.Â
His expression was one he typically wore when he was around you, a playful smile, eyebrows raised slightly. Offering a small wave, his eyes remained on you, walking straight up to where you were standing.Â
âHey, whatâs up,â he said, attempting to be nonchalant but failing miserably. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, and looked up at you.Â
You smiled, small, up at him, mumbling a quiet âHeyâ back. For a moment, you both were just awkwardly standing and staring at one another.Â
Snapping out of his tunnel-vision from Gojo and Shokoâs snickers, he looked around, acknowledging Shoko and your two other friends, âHey, you guys have fun looking around?â, eyes darting back at you.Â
âSure did. Youâre doing a lot of looking around too, Ryomen,â Shoko laughed, clicking a button to pop open the trunk.Â
Gojo and Geto let out small laughs, âShut up. God, why are your bags so heavy. Did you guys pack your whole closets in here?â, Sukuna said, coincidentally picking up your bag and hoisting it on his shoulder.Â
You could see his shoulder pop a small vein, his left arm flexing a bit and showing off his definition even more now.Â
He complained, yet you didnât see him visibly struggle to carry it.Â
You let out a small laugh, âThatâs mine. And, I guess I mightâve overpacked a bit. But itâs like two weeks,â huffing a bit and attempting to unload Utahimeâs duffle bag.Â
âItâs fine, I got it,â Gojo cut in, shooting you a smooth expression, taking the duffle in his arms easily.Â
âDonât gotta tell me twice,â you said, pushing the bag away and lightly thanking him. You were always one to hold a grudge.
âNice house! Oh- thanks for carrying that,â Miwa smiled, thanking Geto for carrying her multitude of bags on his arm.Â
Rather than pack one large duffle like the rest of you, Miwa packed four small totes and backpacks full of her stuff. It was interesting to say the least.Â
âThanks, hopefully it doesnât get too trashed,â he started, turning to you, âOf course youâre an overpacker,â smirking slightly. You rolled your eyes, starting to speak, but you got cut off by Shokoâs whines.
âDamn, what about me guys? Itâs not even that big, itâs like half the size of their bags, and Iâm lazy,â Shoko jokingly let out a sigh, pointing a finger to the left over bag in the car not taken by any of the guys.Â
âYeah, yeah, yeah I got it. Oh- shit your bag is really light. You pack like two outfits like last year?â, Sukuna said with a laugh, carrying the small bag in his other hand like it was nothing.Â
âNo, this year I packed three,â Shoko popped a piece of gum, âLetâs hurry and go in, weâve been out here forever,â she said, speed walking to the front door with Utahime in hand.Â
As you began to say something to Sukuna, Miwa found your arm and began, âIâm excited! I think Yuki is gonna be here,âÂ
You nodded, recalling the tall, pretty blonde who would join you all for some study sessions, particularly biology as she was extremely passionate about life sciences and helped you all on lab reports and test preparation. She was really cool, often bringing humor and your favorite snacks to your late night library runs.Â
âOh, really? Thatâs cool. Are there any other girls we know thatâll be here?â, you asked Miwa curiously, trying to recall any other girls you might know from the sorority on campus.
Although the fraternity usually got a bad rep, the sorority girls were known to be beautiful, smart, and kind with the exception of some bad apples. It was no wonder why the members of the frat wanted to party with those angels.Â
âYeah, I think a few others,â she trailed off, finally walking into the house.Â
You held the door open for Sukuna since his hands were full with your bags, and he murmured a small âthanksâ, glancing down at you for a quick moment with a pursed smile.Â
The inside of the house was exactly as you imagined after seeing the exterior, clean, brightly-lit, and well-furnished.
The seven of you walked into a lively environment, fraternity boys and sorority girls lining the expensive leather couch, chatting it up on the stair case, doing shots at the obnoxiously large island in the middle of the modern kitchen, and a few out on the patio overlooking the beachfront.Â
Gojo and Geto had set the bags down, and had been met with five sorority girls drunkenly calling them over to take a shot with them.
You recognized a few familiar faces. Some good, some bad.Â
Yuki and some other girls you liked from a few classes were lounging on the couch with one another, and she gave you four a small wave with a smile.Â
Then you saw Mei Mei, long white hair tied into a beautiful braid trailing down her back. She seemed to be in deep conversation with a guy with blonde hair, one that you didnât recognize. He didnât seem to be very interested in what she had to say.Â
Striding up to you all was none other than Toji Zenin, smug grin plastered across his face, âOh, hey, you guys were out there for so long,âÂ
âNot really,â Shoko said, rolling her eyes and grabbing her bag from Sukunaâs hands with a small âthanksâ.Â
She hated him, and she wasnât afraid to show it.Â
âAlways so moody,â Toji smirked, poking at Shokoâs shoulder who met him with a mean scowl, âThis your girlfriend?â, he asked, pointing at Utahime who wore an unbothered expression.Â
âYeah, she is. Dude, you met her at that one party,â Shoko said, sighing, âAnyway, letâs go put our bags away, Iâm tired,âÂ
âUh, uh, uh I want to meet everyone. Youâre such a buzzkill,â Toji said, rolling his eyes. His eyes then landed on you, and his smirk widened. You didnât know that was possible.Â
âWait, arenât you that DoorDash girl from that one time?â, he asked with a raised brow.Â
Your eyebrows raised slightly, and you opened your mouth to speak, laughing awkwardly, âOh, yeah. You remembered,â you said trailing off a bit but wanting to keep the moment light.Â
Sukunaâs gaze shifted toward you as if to read your face for any signs of discomfort. He cut in, âAnyway, Iâll show you guys your rooms,â he said, nodding his head to the staircase, âSatoru, Suguru get over here weâre taking the bags upstairs!â he barked, Geto and Gojo sighed and made their way to you all.Â
The seven of you walked up the staircase, Sukuna shooing all the people on the stair case lounging, Gojo and Geto following close behind with your heavy bags in hand.Â
âRyomen, which room are you putting us in? Donât tell me weâre stuck in the pirate one,â Shoko groaned, shouting up at Sukuna.Â
âNah, donât worry. I was nice this year, you guys got the one with the mermaid,â Shoko smiled at that, turning to Utahime to tell her how sweet that specific room was.Â
âHere, this can be you and Utahimeâs room,â he said, opening the door to a room with a mermaid sticker on the front door.Â
It was a smaller room, but still beautiful. The walls were a light teal color, and the bed frame was white with white bed sheets and a matching white comforter. There were fairy lights lining the walls, and a small lamp by each table side.Â
Gojo set Utahimeâs bag down with a thud, and turned to her, complimenting the âcuteness of her bagâ or something like that.Â
âThanks, Ryomen! Itâs so nice,â Shoko said, laying down on the comforter, relishing in the blanket.Â
âYeah, yeah,â he smiled a bit, âUh- y/n this is your room,â he cleared his throat, leaving Utahime and Shoko to settle in and explore the room a bit.Â
He led you down the hall to another room, a sticker of a turtle centered on the door.Â
It was a bit bigger than the other room with two twin beds instead of one king-sized. Next to those two beds was a night stand with a charger and respective lamps.Â
There seemed to be another door in the back corner of the room, next to a vanity like table with a large mirror hanging above it.Â
âYou like it- you guys like it?â, he glanced at you, quickly looking away and glancing around the room, touching the blanket of the nearest bed to âcheck itâ.Â
âItâs awesome! Two beds- and is that a bathroom?â, Miwa excitedly opened the door in the back, revealing a beautiful bathroom. There were two sinks, a generously sized bath tub, and a shower with shampoo and conditioner already inside.
âItâs really nice, are you sure itâs good for just two people? How many rooms do you even have?â, you asked, looking around the room a bit.Â
âYeah, for sure. Thereâs ten rooms up here and the basement is pretty free. The guys are mostly staying downstairs, except me and a few others,â he started, smiling a bit, âIâm glad you like it,âÂ
âItâs super nice. Your whole house is, itâs way bigger than I thought itâd be,â you smiled, widening your hands and pushing them out to emphasize just how much you liked it.Â
He nodded, grinning, âYeah-,â he started but was cut off by Miwa who was still in the bathroom.Â
âY/n! Isnât this the shit you like?â, she asked, gesturing for you to come in the bathroom.Â
In the shower, the shampoo and conditioner you liked was lining the shelf, along with the complementary body wash and hair oil.Â
âOh- yeah it is,â you said, picking up the oil in your hand and inspecting it. You had never bought the other stuff in the line, as it wasnât super necessary. Also, it was crazy expensive for hair care products.Â
âOh,â Sukuna ran a hand through his pink hair, âYeah, I bought it. Turns out my mom kinda likes it, so I thought Iâd stock it up here for when she visits in the summer,â he paused, âBut you can use it,â he trailed off nonchalantly.Â
You smiled, âOh, okay. Well thanks, your mom has good taste. Youâre sure I can use all of it, even the oil and shit?â, you asked, setting down the hair oil.Â
âYes- Yeahâ, he said, almost too quickly, âUse it, make yourselves at home,â he said, smiling at Miwa who was watching the exchange between you two with darting eyes and a growing smirk.Â
âAlright, thanks Sukuna,â you nodded toward him, and he returned your awkward nod.Â
âYeah, thanks! Okay, weâre gonna freshen up maybe and be down in a few. Thanks again!â Miwa said, unpacking some of her makeup products.Â
âYeah, of course. See you guys in a bit,â he said, pursing his lips and taking one last look at you.Â
As soon as the door clicked, Miwa turned to you with a knowing look.Â
âWhat?â, you said, knowing what she weas going to probably say but opting to be oblivious to it.Â
âHe likes you,â she smiles, eyes sliding to the side.Â
âShut up, just hurry and get ready,â you said, laughing a bit, your face warming slightly. You shamefully felt happy that your friend was feeding into a small delusion you entertained at times.Â
âWhat?,â Miwa threw a pillow at your head, âYou know itâs true. The thing about his mom was so bullshit, he definitely bought it for you,âÂ
âNo way, thatâs- stop making stuff up,â you said, swishing your mouth wash and brushing your hair down a bit.Â
âItâs true! Heâs different than how you described him around you. He was all like, âYou like ittttt?ââ, Miwa said in a jokingly seductive tone of voice, extending the t.Â
You rolled your eyes, and plugged in your phone to charge, âYeah, sure. Heâs just- I donât know. Donât feed my delusions, itâs bad for me Miwa,âÂ
âSo you admit, you want it! You want him to like you! I knew it,â she said, laughing to herself, âYa know, youâre all talk. You talked shit about him for so long, now youâre all smitten,âÂ
You were laughing too, laying down in the bed closest to the door, inhaling the freshly washed comforter, âI know, I know. Heâs just different than I thought. But- I donât really expect anything,âÂ
âWhy not? Donât sell yourself short, I wouldnât lie to you. Itâs obvious as hell he likes you dude,â she sighed, sinking into the other bed.Â
âMaybe,â you said, wanting to end the conversation before aggravating her. How were you supposed to explain that even if you liked him, you didnât believe the two of you belonged with one another.
There were a multitude of reasons. The money gap. The⊠experience gap. The popularity gap, if that even mattered.Â
âDonât think too much about it. Heâs just a guy,â she hummed, âAnyway, should we go downstairs? Shoko texted me saying her and Hime are already in the kitchen,âÂ
âOh, yeah, letâs go,â you got up from the bed, smoothing out your clothes and hair quickly.Â

âI just think heâs entitled, is all,â you said, tilting your library chair back slightly, wearing a smug expression on your face.Â
âYou think that about everyone.
You gathered your shower caddy, put on your slippers, and headed down to the showers.Â
â
