from  an  outside  perspective,    soren  seemed  borderline  insufferable.    from  an  inside  perspective,    he  was  still  toeing  the  precipice  but  at  least  he  was  funny    –    men  could  get  away  with  a  lot  of  things  by  simply  having  a  good  sense  of  humor  and  a  winning  smile.    luckily  for  him,    he  had  both.    ❛  wizardry,    huh?  ❜    a  brow  arches  as  her  head  turns,    eyes  meeting  his  gaze  in  question.    ❛ if  this  is  wizardry  what  does  that  make  me?    a  sorceress?  ❜

“yeah,  you  know  —  or  what's  the  stuff  with  the  whole  crystal  thing?”  he's  not  sure,  but  soren  is  a  man  of  tiktok,  so  he's  at  least  heard  of  the  stuff.  no  idea  if  it's  real  or  if  it  even  works,  but  one  of  his  previous  hookups  was  obsessed.  something  about  manifesting  real  love  or  something  ..  he  got  out  of  dodge,  then.  “dunno.  is  that  what  the  girl  from  harry  potter  is?  she's  smart  --”  like  you,  goes  unsaid,  but  it  hangs  in  the  air.  “or  does  she  do  crystals  too?"  he's  never  seen  it,  so  got  no  idea.  “y'think  one'a  those  rocks  can  help  me  pass  the  class?”

❛  ha    –    ha,    very  funny.  ❜    august  nudges  his  shoulder  with  the  palm  of  her  hand,    head  shaking  playfully.    she  may  not  be  a  party  animal  but  she  wasn’t  entirely  boring,    at  least  she  didn’t  think  so,    but  some  may  say  otherwise.    especially  if  that  some  are  participating  in  weekly keggers.    she  laughs,    leaning  back  in  her  own  chair  with  a  heavy  sigh    –    she  isn’t  sure  she  can  look  at  one  more  number  without  audibly  groaning.    ❛  as  fun  as  that  sounds,    it’s  really  not  necessary.    plus,    i don't think i'm  doing  a  very  good  job.    i  think  you’re  more  confused  now  than  you  were  before  i  got  here.  ❜

there's  a  laugh  of  his  own  when  she  pushes  him  —  as  if  caught  off  guard.  “what  do  you  mean  necessary?  you  can  only  watch  troy  bolton  yell  at  his  dad  ‘bout  not  having  the  same  dream  sooo  many  times  before  it  starts  to  bore  a  hole  in  your  head.”  he’s  seen  the  movies  a  few  times,  but  only  when  his  older  sisters  made  him  watch  it.  the  songs  are  catchy  though.  there's  a  shuffling  of  his  feet  under  the  table,  knocking  against  hers  –  his  own  playful  retort.  “c'mon  –  x  equals  y  equals  five  over  …  seven.  or  something  like  that.”  soren's  own  head  shakes  in  defeat.  “i  don't  get  how  you  get  this  shit  -  it's  like.  wizardry.”
