Where and who am i
should artists think about the audience?
-Even if they think about it, it will always be a fictional and imaginery audience. -Who is this "audience"? rich people that can afford ticket? citizens? theater goers? -Artists are selfish, they do not think about the audience at first. -Artists have a responsibility towards society, not necessarily the audience. -Audience do not have to understand to enjoy a show. -Understanding is sometimes just about creating a connexion between the audience and the show. -What is the limit of the audience? -Are the spectators supposed to endure and accept everything that happens on stage? -The experience as spectator is not only related to the show itself, it also depends on the diversity of experiences we had and the various shows we had the chance to attend during the years. -I feel more as an artist than a spectator. I miss being a "normal" spectator, because I know what happens backstage and behind the stage. -You can understand when you feel and you also feel when you understand.

Every act of theater is political
did you say terrorism?
by Dominique Vidal, avril 2015, Le Monde diplomatique
The 11th of January will be remembered in French History as one of the biggest popular demonstration. French people have this rare ability for strong réactions, as the 13th of February 1962 to bury the deads of Charonne (demonstators against War in Algery died because of police suppression), the 13th of May 1968 to condemn the police suppression or the 1rst of May 2002 to say no to Jean-Marie Le Pen (presidential election).
What billions of people have marched against this day ? « Terrorism » is a very often used word, that very few people can explain. Proof is that many international organisations, included UN, have failed to give a definition accepted by everyone. And that’s logical : since the anarchist attacks at the end of the 19th Century, the word of « Terrorism » has been used for very different realities (for example it was used by German occupying forces against French Resistance during WW2, by French people during colonialist period against FLN in Algery, or English people against Nelson Mandela in South Africa...).

This video is made of moving memories of the performance “We chew on the bones of time”, which was presented in the framework of the TERRORisms Festival held in Stuttgart in June 2015.
This is a spontaneous and joyful tribute to this show, following a workshop organized by the Young Performing Art Lovers. With the participation of: Hannah, Louisa, Miriam, Fanny and Rénilde. Special thanks to Quentin for the facilitation of the workshop and to Lucie for the organization of the whole YPAL meeting.
