Summary- On the field jealousy. Bakugo sees his new girlfriend, Minkah Udaku, intensely talking to fellow Seido catcher, Miyuki Kazuya and second baseman, Kominato Hariuchi. (Kinda long, don’t know how to make it into multiple parts on here, new to posting my own stories.
On the Field Jealousy
Katsuki Bakugo, noticing his new girlfriend Minkah deep in conversation with the Seido men’s baseball players, Kazuya Miyuki and Haruichi Kominato, he feels a surge of jealousy. The two players are hyper focused on Minkah’s batting form, twisting her body to move her into position, offering advice and encouragement as she makes her comeback from a bad knee injury.
As Bakugo watches from a distance, his expression grows darker. A few of the other players attempt to engage him in conversation, but Bakugo's temper flares, and he blows them off with a sharp retort. Without hesitation, he storms across the field, his fiery determination evident in his stride.
Reaching Minkah, Miyuki, and Kominato, Bakugo interrupts their discussion, his eyes locking onto Minkah with an intense gaze. “Oi, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” he demands, his voice low and laced with irritation, clearly directing his words at the two Seido men’s players.
Minkah's eyes narrow as she turns to face Bakugo, clearly agitated by his behavior. "Katsuki, what is your problem? They're just helping me with my form," she snaps, her tone sharper than usual. She’s annoyed that he would act this way, especially in front of her friends.
Sensing the tension, Miyuki steps forward, his usual calm demeanor unwavering. “Hey, I’m Kazuya Miyuki. Nice to meet you. We were just giving Minkah some pointers to keep her from hurting herself. Nothing more.”
Haruichi Kominato nods in agreement, offering a polite smile. “Yeah, we just want to make sure she’s doing okay after her injury.”
Despite their attempts to diffuse the situation, Bakugo’s anger remains unchecked. He glares at the two baseball players, his jaw clenched. “I don’t care who you are. Stay out of it,” he growls, not backing down.
Minkah crosses her arms, her frustration evident. “Katsuki, you’re being ridiculous. They’re my friends, they’re helping me and I don’t need you scaring them off.”
Bakugo’s eyes soften slightly at her words, but his pride won’t let him back down completely. He gives one last glare to Miyuki and Kominato before turning his attention fully to Minkah. “Fine. But don’t expect me to just stand by when other guys are getting too close,” he mutters, the possessiveness in his voice clear.
Minkah sighs, her agitation shifting to exasperation. “We’ll talk about this later,” she says firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument. Bakugo grumbles under his breath but finally steps back, though it’s clear he’s still simmering with jealousy.
Minkah, trying to ease the tension and refocus on her training, looks at Bakugo with a small smile. “Since you’re so eager to be involved, Katsuki, would you mind stepping into the batter’s box? The guys can check my catching stances too.”
Bakugo grunts in reluctant agreement, still visibly annoyed but willing to help Minkah out. He strides over to the batter’s box, grabbing a bat and taking his stance with an air of confidence. The others watch as Eijun Sawamura, known for his wild pitches, prepares to throw.
As the pitch comes hurtling toward Bakugo, it veers slightly off course, nearly grazing him. Bakugo barely manages to dodge it, his reflexes kicking in just in time. The ball slams into Minkah’s catcher’s mitt with a loud thud.
For a moment, there’s silence, and then Miyuki and the other players can’t help but stifle their laughter. Even Minkah covers her mouth, trying to hide her amusement. They all know Eijun’s unpredictable pitching style, but the near-miss seems just a little too close for comfort.
Bakugo’s garnet colored eyes narrow dangerously as he glares at Eijun, gripping the bat tighter. “You little punk, you trying to take me out?” he growls, but there’s a competitive fire in his eyes rather than real anger.
Miyuki, still chuckling, shakes his head. “That’s just Sawamura for you. But hey, Bakugo, since you’re up there, why don’t you show us what you’ve got? Think you can hit one out of the park?”
Bakugo smirks, his usual confidence returning in full force. “You think I can’t? I’m gonna hit this ball so hard you’ll be picking it out of the next town over,” he declares, raising the bat again, ready to swing at the next pitch with every intention of making good on his threat to hit a home run.
The others exchange amused glances, eager to see how this will play out, as Minkah steps into her modified catcher’s stance, focused and ready.
Eijun winds up and throws a fastball low and away, just skimming the edge of the strike zone. Bakugo swings hard but just misses, the bat slicing through the air with a sharp whoosh. “Strike one!” the umpire, Miyuki, calls out, and Bakugo steps back out of the batter’s box, his frustration simmering just beneath the surface.
He glances over at Minkah, who’s crouched behind the plate. Without anyone else noticing, Bakugo quietly mutters to her, “Stop calling for those low outside balls. Tell him to throw the heater straight down the middle.”
Minkah’s eyes widen slightly at the request, and she hesitates for a moment before glancing back at Miyuki, who’s been observing the whole exchange. Miyuki catches her gaze and gives a subtle nod, a small smirk playing on his lips. He’s curious too—let’s see if Bakugo can back up his bold words.
Taking a deep breath, Minkah adjusts her stance and gives the signal for a fastball right down the middle, exactly what Bakugo asked for. Eijun, always eager to challenge a hitter, gets the message and winds up again.
Bakugo steps back into the box, his eyes locked on the pitcher with intense focus. He tightens his grip on the bat, his muscles coiled and ready, as he waits for the pitch.
The entire field holds its breath, waiting to see if Bakugo’s promise to hit it out of the park will come true.
The ball comes flying straight toward him, a blazing fastball aimed directly at the heart of the strike zone. Bakugo’s eyes gleam with determination, and he swings with all the power he can muster, the bat connecting with a resounding crack. Everyone’s eyes follow the ball as it soars through the air, heading for the outfield.
As the ball rockets toward centerfield, Jun Isashiki sprints back, tracking its trajectory with laser focus. The entire field watches intently, their eyes glued to the ball's arc. Bakugo, confident in his swing, is already rounding first base, eyes briefly flicking toward the outfield.
Just as the ball seems destined for the fence, Jun leaps, extending his glove high above his head. "I got it!" he yells, snatching the ball from the air in a dramatic catch. The sound of the impact echoes across the field, and Jun comes down on his feet, ball securely in his glove.
Bakugo skids to a stop just past first base, his expression a mix of surprise and frustration. From the infield, Ryusuke Kominato can’t resist throwing a teasing comment Bakugo’s way. “I thought you were hitting it to the next town,” he smirks, his tone light and playful.
Bakugo glares back at Ryusuke, not in the mood for the jab, though there’s a flicker of grudging respect in his eyes. “Tch, I’ll hit it past the next country next time,” he snaps, trying to mask his annoyance with bravado.
Minkah, standing behind the plate, can’t help but smile at the exchange, appreciating the competitive spirit on display. Despite the outcome, she’s glad to see Bakugo and the others pushing each other, even if it means he’s not always the one coming out on top.
Bakugo, still feeling the sting of Ryusuke’s jab and his near miss, walks back to the batter’s box with a determined stride. As he approaches, he stops briefly and looks at Miyuki and Haruichi Kominato. With a sharp nod, he mutters, “Sorry about earlier. That was uncalled for.”
Miyuki and Haruichi exchange glances, slightly taken aback by the unexpected apology, but they both nod back, accepting it without any fuss. Minkah, who’s been watching the whole interaction, steps up to Bakugo, her expression softening. Without a word, she slips her arms around his waist, pulling him into a comforting embrace.
“Thank you,” she whispers, her voice full of warmth and gratitude.
Bakugo looks down at her, his usual tough exterior softening as he leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her forehead. “Sorry for being an ass earlier,” he says quietly, his voice filled with sincerity. “I’ll make it up to you tonight at dinner. Promise.”
Minkah smiles up at him, her earlier frustration melting away. “I’ll hold you to that,” she replies softly, before stepping back to let him refocus on the game.
Bakugo takes one last look at her, a small, almost imperceptible smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, before he grips the bat again, ready to give the next pitch everything he’s got. The moment between them, though brief, lingers in the air, a reminder of the deep bond they share despite the relationship being new and the occasional flare of tempers. Usually his fault.
As the next pitch comes hurtling toward Bakugo, his eyes narrow in focus. He swings with all his strength, the bat making solid contact with the ball. It sails through the air, heading straight for right field. The players and spectators watch in awe as it travels further than the previous one, eventually slamming into the right field wall with a resounding thud.
Bakugo doesn’t even bother running this time. He knows he’s proven his point. With a smirk, he turns to face the infield, raising his hand in a casual five-finger salute, 🖕a gesture that’s equal parts confidence and a bit of cheekiness. It’s his way of saying he could’ve gone all the way, but he’s done enough.
The Seido players, including Miyuki and both Kominato brothers exchange knowing smiles, impressed despite themselves. Minkah watches with a mix of pride and amusement as Bakugo casually walks off the field, his usual swagger back in full force. The tension from earlier seems to have evaporated, replaced by a sense of mutual respect and friendly competition.
As Bakugo reaches the dugout, he glances back one last time, catching Minkah’s eye. She shakes her head slightly, a smile playing on her lips, clearly entertained by his antics. Bakugo just shrugs, as if to say, "What did you expect?" before disappearing into the dugout, ready to move on to the next challenge. Cooking up a nice make up dinner for being a jerk in front of Minkah’s friends.
