burritos!!! + yowebhead
Before Wade can even think of racing up to the counter to grab their haul of cheap, Mexican breakfast foods, his companion is way ahead of him. Behind his mask, he sort of glares at him but part of him appreciates the sudden enthusiasm. Of course he should be excited; this is some really good grub. Peter slides the tray onto the table, and his eyes watch it with hungry interest, literally. All three of his own burritos are on his side of the palette, along with a little packet of fat cinnamon sticks with a side of icing to dip them in. Peter’s two burritos are there too and the side of hashbrowns. With their combined efforts (mostly Wade’s), they actually managed to form a pretty nice-looking breakfast. It’s a little cute: two superheroes settling down to eat at a local diner in the midst of their oh so busy lives of kicking baddies in the rear and saving damsels.
We hardly ever do either of those things.
yeah, but i think we’re having a moment.
“Dude, quit thanking me.” He laughs, unwrapping his first burrito with a scary ease that he’s obviously well-practiced in. He one-hands it and takes this really big bite. A little sauce slips out the side of his mouth, and Wade’s tongue flicks out to clean it up. This is not so much because it’s unappealing to be a sloppy eater, but if anything, he’s thorough. He’s not wasting any bit of this perfectly good meal. “It’s like some kind of superdude bro code to buy burritos for each other. Didn’t you read the handbook?” He jokes with a lingering smirk, taking his other hand and downing another swig of the scalding coffee and ignoring the way it kind of sears his throat.
crap! i don’t think we ever actually read the handbook either…
That’s because there is no handbook. – That we know of.
We don’t know a lot about superhero code, Wade agrees silently. He prefers to keep it that way too as he’s not even considered one. He’s about midway through chewing his second bite, which incidentally ends up with half of the burrito already gone, when he goes, moving his food to one side of his mouth with his tongue so he can talk at least a little coherently, “I tol’ you so.”
"Oh god, there's a handbook?" Peter answers, and laughs quietly. Of course there isn't one, but it does seem like that would explain a lot of things. Why he is never taken seriously by the rest of the super squad, for one thing. He watches as Wade unravels his first burrito and takes a large bite, sort of impressed by the amount of food that he can shovel into his mouth in one go. Grinning to himself, he takes a bite of his own, though much smaller and without the undesired result of dribbling sauce down his face, unlike some certain other people who shall remain wadeless. Uh, nameless. Nameless.
He rolls his eyes and washes the mouthful down, licking his lips dry. The food isn't bad really, probably an acquired taste but good enough for him. There's a sort of odd after taste that he can't pin his finger on, just a hint of coppery tang maybe, but it's not all that bad really, and it's possible that's just the water. He takes another small bite and swallows. "Yeah, yeah, whatever you say," he replies, waving the comment off with a hand. "Food's not bad, either," he adds, a little quiet and maybe a little mumbled. He has this habit of talking more to himself than to the people he's with, sometimes. Namely when he doesn't have anything sufficiently biting and witty or important and chastising to say; complimenting Wade's choice in breakfast foods doesn't exactly fall under either of those categories. He's not wrong, though. He takes another bite and it really is growing on him. This mouthful in particular holds a bit extra bacon, and that's definitely something that he can get behind, humming in satisfaction before swallowing and taking another small sip.
"Beats sitting at home alone," he clarifies, much more comfortable with making some pithy quip out of the whole ordeal. It really is pretty nice, though. Wade.. he's not exactly the type of person that most folk would think worth Peter's time; he's been told on several occasions to actively stay away from him, actually. But Peter knows something that the others don't. Being an outcast in the super community himself, he can relate. He can see past their base accusations of "oh, he's too this," or "he's too that," or "you do realise he's a fucking mercenary, right?" Beneath that hardened assassin exterior there's, well, a sort of crass and crude absolute bachelor thing going on. But buried somewhere in there, he's funny, and genuine, even if he doesn't necessarily like to show it. Now Peter would never admit in a thousand years that maybe he's not so bad and he actually enjoys his company, that he's actually probably the person closest to him (he's still working on admitting that to himself, actually; just because he's the only person in spandex that both knows his secret identity and for the most part treats him like a real person doesn't mean they're close) but the fact remains, no matter how much he would rather it didn't. "It was this or Russian Roulette, and I'm fresh out of bullets," he jokes, flashing a small smirk across the table.
I was more of an Iron Man fanboy myself… I don’t do much on the computer, I mean I edit videos. I’m sure Mr. Stark does much more intersting things that he could watch.
God, Iron Man, hah. I'd sell my soul for ten minutes in his lab, I swear. All the tech that's in there, the stuff that shouldn't even exist, it's gotta be absolutely amazing.
\
Oh, sorry, I sort of tend to um.. gush about that sort of thing.
burritos!!! + yowebhead
As Peter’s getting money out of his wallet, he stares at him. Sure, he maybe wanted him to pay earlier, but this whole burrito date had been his idea so maybe he should buck up and cough up some of that hard-earned cash. His hand flashes out just as Spidey is leafing through a few bills and snatches them out of his fingers. Not waiting for that protesting whine, he looks over his loot, about four ones, which will do. Wade gets his own wallet out, a duct tape one that he made himself; it looks pretty legit too. He parts it to take a peek inside. There is a little scowl that forms on his mouth; he really doesn’t have much right now with the lack of work. With a puff of breath, he decides on the only not-so crisp ten and hands over all the money to the clerk.
It doesn’t take long after getting his change, that he gets his coffee too. Cheap Styrofoam in hand, and maybe even cheaper coffee, he turns back to Peter while leaning with one elbow against the counter to wait on their order. “I thought that was pretty unfair of me to make you pay for it all.”
That is so not what we were thinking.
yeah!! that little webhead needs to start makin’ his own bacon!
Mmm, bacon. Man, is he ever excited for these burritos. He one-handedly stuffs his wallet back where he found it before taking up the edge of his mask and pushing it up past his mouth. He puts the cup to his lips and takes a pretty big sip. That shit is hot as molten lava, and it burns his tongue. Just as quickly as the flesh is scalded, it heals over and is fine again.
Peter's busy leafing through his wallet, casting a bit of a glare toward his companion, because hey, he never really intended to buy. He's sort of broke, you know; Jameson might as well be paying him in Trident Layers, cos that's about all he can afford on his paycheck. He had said that he would, though, and he's not exactly one to break his promises, no matter how adamantly his bank account might complain. Just as he's finally made the decision of cash or card, Wade reaches over and intercepts, grabbing a small clump of singles, and Peter responds with a noise that's somewhere between a whine and a scoff. Jesus, rude.
"Hey, c'mon!" he groans at the other, flagging the waiter down for a cup of water. Expressing his thanks once the cup is handed to him, he fills it with water at the machine and lifts his mask just slightly to take a sip, turning back to Wade. "I did offer, you know.." he mumbles. Yeah, sure, he may not be rolling in cash at the moment, but he'd rather dole out a few extra dollars than pay with his pride. He can fend for himself, he doesn't need your help, thank you. ..Although it doesn't go unappreciated, and he clears his throat and swallows thickly, responding in a sort of sheepish tone. "Um, hah, thanks, though. You really didn't have to, but..thanks." He offers a small smile and takes another sip, sliding into a booth as they await their food. The smell of Wade's coffee drifts to his nose, and he sort of regrets the decision to stick with water. Coffee makes him jumpy, though, kind of shaky and a little hyper, and he really doesn't need to give Deadpool another reason to call him a spaz.
Not too long after they get settled in, their number is called and he springs up before Wade gets the chance, grinning as he bounds over to the counter and returns with a tray full of food that smells pretty fucking delicious, really. As he sits back down, he peels back a bit of the foil from one of his burritos and takes a large bite, swallows before saying, "Thanks again," and nodding. "This wasn't such a bad idea, huh?" Normally, he doesn't spend too much time outside patrol hanging out with Deadpool (and not much time during, if he can help it), but as much as he hates to admit it, they do get along. Something about the sarcastic motormouth thing that the rest of the super community doesn't seem to appreciate. He shrugs to himself and takes another bite. Whatever, he thinks he's funny at least.

burritos!!! + yowebhead
It isn’t much longer after his sent instant message that around the corner comes the web-swinging hipster himself, landing with an obvious amount of practiced grace and balance on the pavement before him. Wade’s eyes loll behind the mask and a scoff dusts in his throat at the other’s acrobatics. What a complete showoff, like seriously we know you’re all ready to join an Olympic gymnastics team, but do you have to bust onto every scene like your scoring straight 10s? Wade himself isn’t a bad mover, sure, he’s clumsy but when he’s on the job he’s all footwork and devastatingly quick maneuvers. That’s what you get when you train as a mercenary for as long as he did.
Which was how long exactly?
give us a break!!! we don’t even have food in our tummy…
Yeah, it’s pretty hard to think about before Weapon X even with a full stomach let alone with no grub at all. It growls, seemingly aggravated by all this food vacancy talk. Peter says something about the way his message was something that desperately needed decoding, but if the superdude had any remnant of a brain he would know that the message could have literally said nothing and still meant a simple ‘where r u’. It just so happens that next to those letters is a bunch of other letters, and coincidentally, on a touch screen, they’re like one big button when you have gloves on. “Hey,” he goes, “you got the message loud and clear in my book.”
hehe, that was punny.
At the younger’s disgruntled statement, he frowns, unbeknownst to Peter. Wade goes into the little rundown shop as the door his held for him, gesturing with his arms. “Dude, I know it’s kind of a shithole-“
Kind of is kind of understatement.
hey!! but we love this place so much it’s like… almost a creepy kind of love. but definitely the loving kind!
“I know, we love this place.” Wade shakes his head, angling himself slightly as they fall in step towards the front counter to look at his masked companion seriously. “Look, it’s so good though, just you wait. You’re going to want seconds. I mean, I already want seconds.” He says with an unshaken assuredness. When they’re at the counter, the man at the cashier doesn’t flinch at the sight of Wade but gives Spider-Man a strange look. Neither of them are mind-readers, but the dude is probably wondering if the all of the Avengers are going to be walking in behind them. Wade orders like three breakfast burritos and a wad of cinnamon dunking sticks and a medium coffee. Once he’s finished he looks back at Peter. “So, uh, what do you want?”
"We? Speak for yourself," Peter answers, and hopes the scoff that follows can convey the amount of sarcasm evident on his face beneath the mask. "Love is such a strong word; I prefer 'am slightly creeped out and put off by.."
The clerk gives them a strange look as they go to order, and Peter is sure it's because of his costume. It's just him, though, like they're used to his shenanigans, but seeing him with Spider-Man is just a step too far. Peter returns the look, cocking his head sightly and leaning forward, but he realises that because of the mask it probably just looks slightly menacing, so he chuckles this nervous little laugh and backs away, clearing his throat and hoping that he didn't make a bad first impression on the guy that's in control of their food.
Wade orders for himself and Pete's eyes go a little wide as he listens. So. Much. Food. He's the teenager, isn't he supposed to be the one with the bottomless pit in his stomach? When he's finished, the mercenary glances back toward Spidey, and Pete takes a moment to realise, still sort of mulling his options over and wondering where the hell Wade puts it all, because it sure isn't his abs. Maybe it all goes directly into his muscles, and that's why he's so big and beefy and almost intimidating, if Peter didn't know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he could take him down in a second. He laughs again, breathy and soft, this smug and self-satisfied noise before coughing and looking up to the white lenses of his friend (or really, whatever they are; he's not sure there's an accurate label and it's better to avoid headaches than to try and iron out the details) and considering his order."Huh, me? Oh, um.. I guess I'll have.. two bacon burritos and a side of hashbrowns. Uh, please." As he digs into the pouch in his suit made to contain his wallet (Spidey needs money more often than you might think), he can't help but realise the slightly hypocritical amount of food he ordered, considering how he had just been mentally making fun of Wade. Of course, he's a growing boy and he ordered less, so technically he is still in the clear. Whew, dodged that guilt bullet, thanks conscience.

I’d prefer it if he just asked me if I was OK… I’ve had Steve Rogers watch me work at my computer, like he was just staring at me. I wasn’t sure if I should’ve been creeped out or flattered.
Asking would be the, uh, nice way to do it, yeah.
Captain America, though? I'd be flattered. Of course there's the slight chance that I may or may not have been a huge fan of his since I was a little kid, but that of course has nothing to do with it.. Ahah.. Honestly though, he was probably just as fascinated by your work as actually keeping an eye on you. Computers. They catch his attention. Always wanting to learn, ha.
burritos!!! + yowebhead
Are we really going to hang out with that hipster pansy?
"Yeah, I guess so, ‘dude promised us breakfast burritos. At least, I think he’s paying. If not, he is such a tool."
i bet he rides around on his skateboard drinking starbucks and listening to some misunderstood indie band in a bowtie and then he web-swings off into the sunset crying about how everything is too popular for him!
Probably.
Wade waves off the voices with one hand. “Nah, he’s not that bad. I think he’s more of a closet hipster than anything. Though, that guy does photograph things, and I mean, how much more hipster can you get than photography? I mean, sheesh."
He told Spider-Guy to meet him at this local place not too far from his own apartment. It’s kind of shitty-looking but Wade is basically in love with the off twang all of their meats have. It really grows on you, in the end, even if it sometimes leaves you retired to the toilet for a couple hours. It’s way worth it.
Wade’s in his complete bodysuit, no way he’s taking that mask off for any passerby to gawk and stare… even though they’re pretty much already doing that because he’s in a red and black onsie and standing at a windowfront with crossed arms talking to himself. He pulls out his phone from some God-forsaken fold in his suit and shoots Peter an angry IM because they’ve yet to actually exchange numbers. The fabric of his gloves makes the message kind of… well, bad. It’s a little gibberish as his thumb smashes the send button. He really needs his gloves supped up for texting, touch screen friendly and all. Who knows, Peter could probably help him out with that if he remembers to ask. Which, he probably won’t.
The sound for a message bleeps from Peter's phone, muffled from being buried in fabric; he's learned the hard way that the phone is a necessity, even in the Spidey suit, so he's made some adjustments and improvements to accommodate. With a sort of disgruntled scoff, he digs the thing out and stares at the notification blinking on his screen. He quirks a brow and slows down, trying to figure out whether the message should annoy him or not, let alone what it says. Wade really needs to invest in some type-ready gloves. Pete settles for being mildly annoyed and slides his phone back, not even bothering to reply (but he could. Coherently. His gloves are prepared for that, thank you).
Normally, he wouldn't be rude enough to blow off a message, but he's right around the corner, and anything that Wade has to tell him (if it's anything other than "where the hell are you?"- which he doubts) can wait the few moments it will take him to get there. Speaking of "there," he can't believe that's where he is. Not at all. This whole part of town looks sketchy and sort of run down, most of the buildings look decrepit. He's glad that he opted not to show up in plain clothes- though that had been a possibility for a second- because he wouldn't be caught dead here without his Spidey costume. Or, rather, he might be caught a little too dead, and he didn't want to risk that. At least the spandex acts as a little bit of a crime deterrent, although, admittedly, not much. Something about wanting to make a statement and break tropes, show the cops and the rest of the people who look up to the spider (there was your first mistake, mr. criminal: that's not much of anyone) that even gods bleed and blah, blah, blah. He doesn't really know because he doesn't typically listen, and he doesn't really care.
When finally he makes it the next couple of yards to the restaurant, it looks just as shabby and forlorn as the rest of the damn block, and the brief disbelief that he's actually going to eat here races across his mind. Deadpool is standing at the door like he's standing guard, arms folded across his chest and leaning against the window, one leg crossed over the other like he's the top muscle for some two-bit gangster, which, actually, for all Peter knows he could be. He shoots the taller an incredulous look though he knows he can't see it under the mask and adds a shrug for emphasis. "Dude, what the hell were you trying to say with that message? Did you invent some sort of language or something? I don't speak Wilsonian, you know." He chuckles a little, sort of proud of his own joke, before clearing his throat and glancing up to the sign above the door; the lights in several of the letters have gone out and the no doubt once cheery and welcoming fried egg character that had graced the spot beside the name is now sort of cracked, and Peter can't look too long without being reminded of a twisted Humpty Dumpty.
"Seriously, this place? You could pick anywhere, and you pick here?" he asks, thumb jerking toward the door. "Well, whatever you say," he says quietly, sort of mumbled, and shrugs with one shoulder. With a sigh that's really a tad dramatic for extra effect, he turns toward the door and nudges it open. For a moment he thinks about being a giant asshole and letting it shut on Wade, but in the end, Aunt May's good upbringing wins out and he holds the door open for his companion, falling in step as it swings shut behind them.

Feisty and spicy.
i dunno, i think he’s more of the mild kind of guy… >u>
look, but i mean if you can’t handle the kind of hot sauce that i’m dishin out here then maybe we should give you something that you can actually handle like… oatmeal.
Yeah well when you get the merc with the mouth and the original squire of sarcasm together what do you really expect
You're kidding right? Maybe I don't like things hot as Vesuvius but I can handle some Franks Red Hot, Wade. Fucking oatmeal, ha. I'll pass.
