Manny's Art Supplies

According to its website, Manny’s Art Supplies was the first – and is still the most original – art supply store in the Hudson Valley. Stocked with a myriad of art and craft supplies, handmade papers, stationery, knitting yarn and supplies, journals, greeting cards, novelties and more,

I love going into Manny's, especially on a day when I need some cheering up. The assortment of stationery, journals, and novelty items are really nice to look through.

Cocoon is a lovely, easy-to-miss little shop at the lower end of Main Street in New Paltz. It opened in 2005 selling lamps, china, glassware, clocks, wooden bowls, place mats, and things like that for your home, and evolved to include baby gifts, jewelry, totes, purses — even perfumes. To this day, a walk through the town definitely requires a peeps into this store. (HVMag)

About The Author

Zameena Mejia is a junior in the Honors Program at the State University of New York at New Paltz. She is a double-major in Spanish and Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. During her Fall 2013 semester, Zameena studied at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain, and has since completed the Journalism-Public Relations end of her bachelor’s degree. She will use her senior year to focus on Spanish studies, her Honors thesis, and her extracurricular leadership positions. She is an Arts & Entertainment copy editor and writer at SUNY New Paltz’s weekly newspaper The New Paltz Oracle. She is also the co-president of The BEA Media and Journalism Society at New Paltz. As a New York City native, Zameena is a museum-hopping, concert-going, adventure-seeking traveler, always ready for a new challenge.

Monday night is Wing Night. If you want to get the cheaper price, I recommend going EARLY. It gets packed beyond 630-7pm. They have like 40 flavors of wings which are all really great, unique flavors. The Gold Rush, Thai Chili and Honey BBQ are my all-time favorites.* They have plenty of tv's outlining the inside and great music. Sometimes Cuddy's has trivia night and taco night which are also a lot of fun.

Yes, the food does take awhile, but it is totally worth the wait. I've eaten here probably ten times and every time I enjoy it more. The beer selection is awesome. Get a bottle of Rogue Dead Guy Ale and the Nikki Nirvana, the most amazing vegetarian pita ever (filled with housemade baba ganoush, spinach tartar, hummus, greek salad and huge chunks of feta) and call it a lovely night.
