"Uhm... My daughter said I needed to get out more. How do I do this again?"

(It’s actually really difficult to figure out exactly what those guinea pigs were like, since different sources give different information. Some even claim they were rabbits. But this is my AU, so I’m allowing myself a bit of creative freedom when it comes to both their appearance and their behavior.)

I sometimes wonder whether Grace ever showed Rocky what guinea pigs, rats or mice are. Simon’s knowledge of animals is pretty limited, and surviving on his own was already hard enough without suddenly having to take care of a bunch of unfamiliar creatures.

Because of that, the guinea pigs had to be brought to Grace immediately so he could decide what to do with them. I’m convinced his reaction to seeing a few guinea pigs was pure delight. He immediately walked over to them, gently pet one, and practically launched into an explanation of what they were and the history of their species.

At the same time, he encouraged Simon to come closer and pet the fluffy little squeaking balls that, according to Grace, were called “guinea pigs” and were commonly kept as pets by humans. And just like that, a few more animals found their way into the humans home on Erid.

Then came the rats. A lot of rats and mice.

And despite how adorable they were, both Grace and Simon quickly agreed that three dogs and two guinea pigs were already more than enough pets for one household. The rats and mice would have to live somewhere else. Preferably somewhere secure.

And they would absolutely, definitely have to make sure the rats/mice didn’t start reproducing.

Give me a Simon who doesn't freak out, until he realizes he is actually safe. No one here is going to hurt him, going to send him back into the blood ocean. Then he freaks out over something small. Maybe he breaks a testube by accident. He screams and throws things. Because now he's ruined everything.

I stand by what i said about a time travel au needing two Graces. They're in the great unknown of SPACE we can get more creative than him waking up in a young body

Maybe bloodymary and rockadrian and a few other eridians (seems unlikely itd just be the 4 of them) are doing SOMETHING in space. Maybe its in a eridian ship maybe its in the Hail Mary. Either way timey whimey space stuff happens and they make contact with Earth. They come down after some negotiating or whatever. Which would take a hot minute unless they've added a re-entry materials to their own ship. Maybe theres already a ship docked at the ISS they can use idk this is not the part i have thought out lol

Anyways they come down and they eventually end up in Stratt's custody. And ofc people are talking. Theres aliens, Dr. Grace from the future, and one guy that no one can find a sliver of evidence proving his existence. That dude also has only one arm. Or (if you want) only one flesh arm, the other is part tree/a complicated prosthetic made out of a material not from Earth

The last man having no ID is concerning for Stratt but she has full confidence Dr. Grace is on their side

This Dr. Grace has a backbone. He's also pissed

Someone get that man a ice cream. He deserves it

But this is getting away from me back to the reason i made this post. The aliens call them "mates". Does this mean like the way british people say friend? Like animals mate-for-life marriage kinda thing? Its mentioned they live together so is it just the short version of "roommates"? There is GOSSIP and bets

has the "ship grace with everyone ever" blunt rotation hit the eel hive mind yet

Even more than that, Rocky finds it horrifying that the vast majority of stars that humans can see are millions of years in the past due to light traveling long distances in space.

He devours it. The lore books, the rulebooks, the video games, and so on, and by the time they reach Erid, he's got Rocky making him minis for his first army.

Grace doesn't get it, he's more of a dungeons and dragons kind of guy, but it's the first thing that really resonates with Simon, so he sits with him for hours and helps him paint his army while listening to him talk.
