December 3rd marks the 2nd Full Moon (Esbat: pronounced Ss-bat) of the Celtic Year, the tree associated with this is called Luis (Loo-ish) and is the Rowan tree. This is the tree of protection. Beith was the first tree and had to do with cleaning away the old, now that you have cleared away what is not needed to work you need to make sure you are protected for the work you intend to do. Let the Rowan tree teach you to be prepared before your undertake something so you can keep yourself safe.

Pronounced (Sow- en). This is the first of the Wiccan Sabbaths for the Celtic/Wiccan year. It is always October 31st, or Halloween. It marks the halfway point between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice, the ‘tween time, if you will. It is usually considered the most important of the Wiccan Sabbaths. This is the final harvest, the culling of the herd. It is the time when the old and sick that won’t survive the Winter are slaughtered so the young and strong can thrive. This is also displayed in the theme of the Solar God dying only to be reborn at Yule / Jùl (Winter Solstice). Now is the time of year that the only work a Wiccan will do is communing with the departed loved ones, or initiations and dedications to the Wiccan Tradition.

For those new to Wicca, Sabbats are the 8 major holidays in a year, they are the 2 Solstices, 2 Equinoxes, and the 4 cross quarter days (or the days halfway between the Equinoxes and Solstices. The Sabbats are generally a time for celebrating our faith. Esbats are the 13 days a year we do our magickal (spelled with a ‘k’ on purpose) work, most tend to do these on full moons but depending upon what you are working on a new moon might be more appropriate time for your ritual. Normally there are 13 full moons in a calendar year.

How to Care for an Introvert

1. Respect their need for privacy and to spend time alone.

2. Be careful never to embarrass them in public.

3. When they are in a new situation, allow them to stand back, and watch what’s going on.

4. Allow them time to process what you’re asking or saying. Don’t demand an answer right away.

5. Be patient if they hesitate to find the right words – and never interrupt while they are speaking.

6. If you are going to change or cancel plans, give them plenty of prior notice.

7. Allow them to practice and perfect skills alone.

8. Correct or challenge them privately – never in front of an audience.

9. Don’t force them to hang out with a crowd of people, or expect them to amass a lot of friends. A few good friends is more comfortable for them.
