Bursting At The Seams

I had a dream last night that I spent a week in the desert dancing around a massive fire, tribal drums thumping in my head. I lost my car. I got a call from my ex wife on the morning after the last ritual. She didn’t speak for long, and I couldn’t make out what she was saying due to the haze in my mind. All of a sudden I heard tires screeching and her screams from the phone and then silence. A deep feeling of dread and sorrow hit my stomach and I called her desperate to hear that she was okay. I searched desperately for my car so I could rush to her, I had to see her, I had to save her and protect her, but it was nowhere to be found. After a few hours I got a call from the local hospital back home. It turns out I was still her emergency contact. It didn’t look good, she was alive but unstable and in a coma. I finally saw my abandoned car in the distance, but a baby tiger blocked my path. I motioned first it to move and it’s mother jumped at me from the brush. I fought the mother, returning to her the only wish in my heart and filling my mind. Eventually I felled the beast and drove my fist deep into her skull. I looked at the young tiger, a woman came from behind me and put her hand on my shoulder. “It’s okay” she told me “tiger younglings know how to survive without their mothers here in the desert” I ran to my car and sped off to see my ex wife, the thought of her leaving this world too much for me to bear, even now.
