Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 8 spoilers
Compared to the rest of this season it wasn’t nearly as emotionally heavy.
It does go into the theme of the parentification of Morty and Summer, but not enought for the episode to become heavy. Which there's actually quite a few episodes that do this. Definitely more than there are episodes who have themes themes upfront.
It was more funny than anything else honestly, and I'm fine with that because I needed a laugh after some of the earlier episodes.
The ending and post credits specifically were hilarious. Also Rick feels under appreciated while he underappreciates people... huh.
Seeing Beth and Jerry's relationship on the more wholesome side of it was nice. And again, her abandonment issues not wanting to let herself depend on him for anything.
I also liked seeing more of Summer and Morty's relationship, they're the ones who get each other best after what they've been put through honestly.
Also I can't tell if Morty re-gained his empathy or if he's just acting. Knowing him, it could be either.
Anyway, that said see you all next week for what might be our deaths or a completly unserious episode, take care of yourselves!
