Do What Makes You Happy

I miss the days when Teen Wolf was a good show and I used to watch it religiously with my best friend.

Or when I used to wait all summer long for The Vampire Diaries to come back on.

I miss the days when my friends and I would walk to Starbucks because none of us had cars.

When oovoo was all the rage and nobody even knew about FaceTime or Skype.

I remember when Instagram was new and nobody had any idea how it worked, so nobody cared what the hell you posted.

I miss the times when we used to take pictures on digital cameras instead of smartphones and we took them just to make memories and not to post them on social media.

It’s hard to imagine there was a time where we all hadn’t had one sip of alcohol yet and somehow we always managed to make our own fun.

I miss the days of block parties and water guns and manhunt.

I miss sleepovers with junk food and awful movies.

I miss having the energy to run around and feel free with none of the weight of the world on my shoulders.

I can’t believe I’m missing those days where I was so awkward that I hated it and I just wanted to grow up and kiss a boy. I wish I could go back and tell that awkward girl to “Take it easy and just enjoy the ride…because you do grow up…and you do kiss a boy…and you fall in love with him…and how he’s gone.”

I miss the days before I felt the brutal pain of heartbreak.

I miss the days when I had your love and you made me feel young. But now I just feel old and alone…
