Case by Case || Jessica & Mirage
@you-look-rather-dashing
The office before her was austere and clean, modern at every angle and gleaming in the sunlight of Downtown LA. It was a remote officeâ Not the usual headquarters â So Jessica had been lucky when sheâd heard the woman was in. Sheâd been waiting months for just the confirmation of an appointment of interestâ
Clearing her throat she approached the double doors, drawing her hand back sharply when they opened in front of her to a gleaming, well-maintained office space. The receptionist didnât even glance up, and Jessicaâs heart rate seemed to bump up slightly.
Shuffling her briefcase she moved forward as she cleared her throat,
âExcuse meââ
âYes?â No eye contact. Just a brunette looking down at a flat screen with names and numbers. Jessica tried to peer over it to see if she was even on there, but a well-manicured hand slid over it as the brunette finally looked up, a dull but forced smile on her face:
âMay I help you?â
Every word was firmly polite, and Jessica fought the urge to frown. Her face tightened as she smiled and shifted her case forward,
âIâm Mrs. Rabbitâ Here about Toontown.â
The womanâs eyes flickered some interest, and she opened her mouth to ask,
âMarv-â
âThatâs need-to-know, thank you.â
A single, perfect brow and Jessica swallowed hard. She could do this! She was going to press forward, make a caseâ
And then what? Acme was dead. Toontown was Toon Owned now. Butâ Little details⌠Little things had been collapsing. Acme hadnât really calculated for the long-term effects, and someone strange had been moving in and taking things away. Not so much as one would notice immediately, but enough that it was beginning to build upâ Ink around the edges, if you wouldâŚ
Someone had told her Mirage could help.
She hoped someone was right.
Pagging through a couple of old cases, Mirage let out a heavy sigh. It seemed like maybe the PI biz wasnât exactly the best route of late. Sure she had enough saved up to keep the overhead, but it felt like everyone had their own problem solving ways that didnât need her help. Princessâ just made wishes, kids had apparently magical godparents, even animals she heard had some âCircle of Lifeâ thing. Couldnât someone just get murdered and need her help to solve it? Okay that may have been a little grim.
Resting her head on the worn wooden desk she closed her eyes, half prepared to take a nap before the old phone rang. Propping herself back up and clearing her throat she answered with a smile in her voice. Â
âMirage Investigations, how can I help you?â
âMs. Junez, you have a woman here in the lobby whoâs asking if you have an opening right now.â
Well sheâd been hoping not to talk to Sandra today. Mirageâs office was more styled from a noir novel as opposed to the clean polished aesthetic of the lobby or most other buildings in the office. But at least she had good news for once.
âOh of course, send her right in.â
Hanging up the phone and hopping up, Mirage couldnât help but smile as she organized papers on her desk to look professional. She set out the nice leather padded chair for special company, and gave the room one last look over. This is as good as itâll get. Standing up straight and with a warm smile on her face, Mirage waited for the client to enter.
A Wild Update (OOC)
Wow.Â
So Iâm here. Uh. Hi.Â
This is like my millionth âIâm not deadâ letter and itâs like...5am where Iâm at. I sorta fell out of the rp stuff due to lack of interest tbh. Iâve been writing a lot of original stuff, or at least trying to, but Iâm here. As one of the DRP Mods weâve been super busy sprucing things up of late and now that weâre reorganizing and such we decided we needed to get our butts going and start getting to the swing of things.Â
For those of you whoâre new here, Mirage is a private eye for hire. Sheâs cut any and all ties with her old employer and wants to just do her best to help people with as little involvement in the super heroic scene as possible. That doesnât mean sheâs not willing to deal with that (looking at anyone willing to audition for BH6 or Incredibles characters.) So if youâve got a lost possession or perhaps are trying to find out if a spouse is cheating, or maybe have suspicions and evil queen is trying to poison you, Mirage is on call.
Hope to hear from you all!

Lottieâs Lament || Mirage & Lottie || The Ball
How could the prince do this! How could he turn away Charlotte LaBouff of all people! There were plenty of other girls at the ball the prince could have grabbed and decided she was maybe the one, but the most important was Charlotte!Â
Of course, these thoughts werenât typical of Lottie. Usually, Lottie is very kind and understanding (if a little sassy), but this wasnât typical Lottie. This was martini-fueled Lottie. Two down, and she was already moping and whining about the prince (sheâs a lightweight).
Goodness, how long had it been since this happened? Ten minutes ago? Thatâs when they met, if she remembered correctly. Upon seeing that the prince had, in fact, not fallen in love with her, she had immediately gone to the closest place that had drinks and ordered herself a martini, having no regard for whomever sat next to her.Â
âOooooh, itâs not fair!â Whined Lottie after her first drink, âWhy could the prince choose her over me? Sure sheâs pretty, but what else is there! Iâm perfect for the prince!â
She wasnât whining to anyone in particular, but hey, if theyâd listen, sheâd happily mope about. The poor person that next to her probably didnât want to hear this.
@you-look-rather-dashing
The ball was turning out to be an exciting night. Well a good exciting, not the on an investigation exciting, but who knew what could happen. Mirage had had her fun for now, and she was firmly planting herself at the bar, because whoever the prince had to mix drinks they did a very good job at it. This was her third bourbon and water, and it was a refreshing shot to get her ready to go back out with more courage again.Â
What she hadnât expected at the bar was company. Well she figured people would get drinks, but not to stay there and drink. There were people to see and all sorts of tables and rooms. Turning to look, Mirage almost snorted. The tipsy young blonde in a floofy pink dress was pouting and had three martini glasses in front, two empty and one on its way to matching the others.Â
Mirage swirled her glass, always loving the sound of the clink of ice against the glass and turned to face the girl.Â
âYou seem like youâre enjoying yourself. What brings you to the party?â

Arenât We Dashing? Mirage & ???|| DRP Ball
In hindsight, Mirage should've known what the dress code was. It was a ball for goodness sake, which meant ballgowns. Taffeta and ruffles were all around, fluffing and flowing all around as couples spun and waltzed around the floor. She felt very under dressed at this point. But then again, theyâd let her in when she presented the invitation, so maybe she was fine? It wasnât that important anyway.Mirage was here to have a good time. She came for the party, the drinks, and maybe get a job offer or two.
Steeling her nerves and gripping her clutch purse, Mirage stepped out into the ballroom itself. The smooth fitted black dress slinking along with her steps, as her pointed heels clicked along the marble floors. She started feeling more confident as she walked, and when the bar came into view, she knew she at least had a destination. Alright tonight is going to be a great night. Right? Right. No oneâs coming in to sweep me off my feet, and Iâll be damned if anyone thinks they can. Strong, cool, and confident. She had this.Â
Kingdom of Shadows
WellâŚat least she wasnât flamboyant. She seemed rather contained - a good thing. She wasâŚAfrican? Yes, but her hair was white as snow. Perhaps she was witch? Or some fae blood rested in her? She would call upon her aunts to investigate her later.Â
âThe honor is mine,â she replied instinctively, âyou come recommended by all. Youâre reputation precedes you and to have such a revered woman in my court brings me joy.â God she was starting to sound like her mother - the perfect little monarch.
Aurora waved her hand to one of her guards. âIf you donât mind, Iâd like to offer a small meal in gratitude for your arrival. Think of it as a,â she sought the words, âcompensation for your long travel. If youâd like,â the guard she had waved on earlier step forth. âmy men can take your things to your living quarters.â
Mirage cocked an eyebrow and smiled. It was good to know she still had a name out there. The princess (or maybe she was a queen?) seemed congenial, like she was putting on honors just for her. Whether this was a show or not, only time could tell, but Mirage hoped it was a show to hide nervousness as opposed toâŚdarker intent.
âI wouldnât mind a meal. The journey wasnât arduous but the food couldâve been better.â Mirage eyed the guard carefully and kept a slight grip on her briefcase.
âI think for now Iâll keep a hold on it. In case weâd like to discuss plans sooner?â
She wasnât aware sheâd be staying here. The letter had said something about a âroyal councilâ and sheâd figured sheâd be a consultant. Come to the castle, talk about things, and go back home. She hadnât brought a change of clothes even from her business suit. Good job underestimating thingsâŚ
âYour Majesty, if I may ask, for what reasons have I been summoned exactly? Iâd be happy to aid your kingdom as within my skills, but I was wondering just what level youâre asking for.â
đ
10. Both of your muses are single, so why not have a best friend date
(Starter to come in separate post.)
Kingdom of Shadows
Princess Aurora rarely didnât ask for much of her court. She was just a princess, new to the tasks and duties of it. Her two greatest fears were going overboard and shooting too low, so she often just felt it was best to let them alone. They helped her with small things and she kept things easy for them. Today, however, she had called the harpist. He was surprised by the request, but eager to play. By her throne the harpist played, easy tunes of old days and chivalry. The princess listened, but as her eyes looked onward to the court she seemed to be empty - her mind lost deep in a space beyond the eyes.Â
She was expecting a guest, one she was anxious for and yet not wanting to see at all. Of all the things she ignored, the nastiness of the political realm felt her greatest absence. When she did finally decide to interview a master of the spy realm, her chamberlain gave only a few words.Â
âMirage - sheâs worth the risk they say,â Aurora made very few bold choices in her short life. She was a peaceful heart not prone to cruelty. Yet as she awaited the arrival of the new adviser to be she felt in her heart she was to be taking a step down the same road her ancestors had walked - the path of power. The dangerous, delectable road of tastes that has felled royal and fool alike.Â
She prayed she was strong enough to wield this new force.Â
The guards brought the woman in, and Aurora stood up and looked upon her. From her spot upon the throne area she was elevated a foot above the woman.Â
âMirage, I presume?â
Mirage hadnât been to a lot of castles often. She was used to the skyscrapers of Metroville and San Fransokyo, and even the warm town of London was more modern than this. But it still had a form of intimidation to it. Hans had been a Prince, but he was still a man. When Mirage had found the regal, sealed envelope in her mailbox, she wasnât sure what to expect. And now here she was outside the throne room of a great ruler.Â
As the doors opened wide Mirage squared her shoulders and gripped her briefcase tightly. The smooth handle in her palms, and the click of her heels against the ground, seemed to instill confidence back in her. She wasnât here as a private eye or a hero manager. She was here to do what sheâd done back with Syndrome; infiltration, reconnaissance, the works. As she looked upon the face of the woman sitting on the throne, Mirage could only hope she wasnât anything like Syndrome.
Giving a bow, Mirage stood up straight and gave the ruler a small smile.
âIndeed I am, Your Majesty. Itâs an honor to be in the presence of a royal such as yourself.â

Something Good: Mirage & Jasmine (Valentines Meme)
17. Â Muse A was brought along as an awkward third wheel on a date, and then abandoned. Fortunately, they bump into the charming Muse B, who cheers them up.
This was one of the worst things sheâd ever agreed to. True sheâd agreed to help a psychopath try to kill off an entire race of people, supers, but this was pretty up there. Sheâd only meant to drop by and say hello to Bob. It turned out he was going on a date with Helen, and somehow he got it in his head to invite Mirage along since the saw her so rarely. So she had smiled awkwardly and sat through appetizers at the restaurant, before she excused herself and said she had a call from the office.Â
Dashing out of the place, Mirage set to walking back to the Parrâs place, her heels clicking along the pavement. Sheâd text him later about having been called on an assignment, make up some sort of excuse. For now though, sheâd just have to spend the walk back alone. So very alone.
Jasmine was never really great with the romantic holiday. When it came down to it, she did love spending time with those she loved; but when they were absent, it was quite noticeable for Jas. Where Rajah would once upon a time be more than enough company for her, on Valentineâs Day, there was nothing she wanted more than to just⌠not be home.
So here she was, out on a little adventure. Well, adventure was a generous term - she was simply walking out in a slightly foreign place. Nevertheless, it was nice. Concrete pavements had a certain comfort to them; they were ridiculously enjoyable to Jasmine considering the alternative option consisted of sand and thickly caked dirt.Â
She had not walked far before she noticed another slim figure on the concrete slab, headed heaven knows where. The figure seemed sad as could be, and Jasmine couldnât resist calling out. âQuite a nice night for a walk, hey?â
Mirage was shaken from her thoughts by the friendly figure whoâd called to her. She looked about for a moment to be sure the woman was addressing her. Seeing as how they were the only ones on the street, Mirage used her deductive skills to realize that yes, the woman was talking to her.Â
Giving the woman a smile and brushing a bit of hair behind her ear, Mirage stood up a little straighter to talk to her.Â
âOh, yes I suppose that it is. I hadnât exactly planned to be spending the night out like this however. And you? Heading off for a date night?â
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
âHis royal highness Christopher Rupert Vwindemier Vlandamier Carl Alexander Francois Reginald Lancelot Herman Gregory James is giving a ball!â
âHis Majesty has this decree, to attend the ball all one must have is an invitation and suitably fashionable attire. And the prince shall choose a woman from the ball to be his bride⌠that means ANYONE can be the queen!â
Good day to you! You are formally invited to Prince Christopherâs ball at his royal palace. His majesty would be delighted for your attendance! Acceptance ends the 19th of February.
Mirage glanced over the letter, on her desk while twirling a pen between her fingers. It was true she hadnât been out to a lot of parties of late. Her dress wasnât seeing much use, so why not go out for a night.Â
She wasnât looking to settle down, especially not with a prince. Even though she had her find memories of Hans, this wasnât exactly going to be a night of romance and wonder. Maybe a few nice drinks and some time off from the office. Heck maybe she could pick up a few cases in a new town. Royalty could pay well.Â
âAlright Prince âLong Nameâ letâs see what youâve got to give.â
Mirage set about typing up her RSVP and setting up the travel plans. Time for an adventure.Â
