Text used: HBIOS.SYS

For pixel art sprites, use a tiny canvas. Pixel sprites are usually very small.

Common RPG sprite sizes are 16×16, 32×32, 48×48, 64×64. But I use 32×32 for simple sprites or 64×64 for more detailed characters.

If your drawing program has an option to turn off blur, do that because it's very important. Pixel art looks bad if the app smooths the pixels.

When zooming, use nearest-neighbor scaling if available, and avoid blur/anti-aliasing.

In brushes, turn Anti-aliasing OFF and use hard-edged brushes only.

Use a pixel brush. Good brush settings: Dip Pen (Hard), Digital Pen, or pixel brush if downloaded. Set the brush size to 1 px. Never use soft airbrushes for pixel art.

And lastly, USE REFERENCES!!

If you want to replicate the JCC-style sprites, use the existing sprites in the game. Study the style.
