Yooseven Sixth Day: Angels/Demons
âSneaking up again, are we?â Zenâs voice rang through the darkness besides the giant gates looming over the entryway to hell.
Yoosung startled so much, he stumbled and nearly fell over. A chuckle started up from Ophelia, the demon clinging-as usual-to Zenâs arm.
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â Yoosung composed himself.
âRight.â Zen sighed. âYou do know you canât ascend, right? Like, thatâs just not a thing you can do.â
âOf course.â Yoosung scowled. âIâm not an idiot.â
âOoooo! Zenny!â Ophelia swatted Zenâs shoulder in excitement. âI think our little Yoosung is sneaking out to visit someone!â
âOh? Could that be true, Yoosung, darling?â Zen purred as his girlfriend cackled.
âOf course not.â Yoosung crossed his arms.
âYoosung, finally! Youâre feeding arenât you! Arenât pure human souls so much more delicious than the bartered, rotten ones down here?â Ophelia leaned towards him, grin feral.
âFine, yes. Happy now? You know my big bad secret, so can I go?â Yoosung rolled his eyes.
âYes, yes.â Zen nodded. âGo on then, glad youâre finally coming around.
âWhatever.â Yoosung grumbled as he departed.
Luciel was facing similar, but not identical, issues in Heaven, with a bored looking Jumin, and a tired sounding Jaehee having stumbled upon his departure.
âAnd just where are you going?â Jumin rose an eyebrow.
âOut, down, I donât know!â Luciel panicked.
âDown? Why would you wish to do that?â Jumin pulled a face of disgust.
âSir, we should just let him go.â Jaehee sighed. âWe have work to do, and Iâd ever so much like to clock out on time, for once.â
âWe cannot just let him go.â Jumin frowned.
âWhatâs the harm, Sir, really?â Jaehee argued back.
As the two angels got caught up in their quarreling, Luciel made his escape.
As he settled into his usual vessel, Luciel waited for Yoosung, the demon he was here to meet.
âSeven!â A cheerful voice soon rang out. Concealing his grace quickly, Luciel turned to the demon.
Today he was blonde, with wide purple eyes. Unlike Luciel, who prided himself on consistency, Yoosung had a habit of grabbing the first appropriate vessel he came across. Luciel also had to keep the same face, for Yoosung had not yet realized his angelic origins. Luciel was having too much genuine fun with the demon to want to spoil things with pesky things like the complete truth. The face he showed to Yoosung was the truest piece of him, and shouldnât that be enough?
The blonde bounced up to him, smiling widely.
âSorry if I was late, some friends held me up.â He explained.
âZen or Rika?â Luciel guessed.
âZen and his mate, Ophelia.â Yoosung pouted.
âAh well, thatâs okay.â Luciel ruffled the blonde locks.
âWhatâve you been up to since last week?â Yoosung asked, eyes wide and happy.
âAh, you know, work, work, and some more work.â Luciel replied. It wasnât even a lie.
âThat sucks.â Yoosung sympathized.
âAnytime.â Yoosungâs grin was blinding. âSo, are we going anywhere this afternoon?â
âUh, well, I donât know how many more interesting things can be done in this city.â Luciel stammered.
âItâs a big city, there has to be something!â Yoosung insisted. âYou live here, whatâs your favorite thing to do?â
âWeâve done all my favorite things.â Luciel stated awkwardly.
âYouâre favorite things are going to convenience stores to buy junk food and playing demo games set out in electronics shops?â Yoosung lifted a skeptical eyebrow.
âY-yeah.â Luciel said, maybe a bit too quickly.
âThen we should go to your house!â Yoosung suggested as they wove through busy city streets.
âYou know we canât, babe.â Luciel frowned.
âBut Seven! Iâm your mate, shouldnât I be able to see your space!â Yoosung whined.
âPretty sure down here, the correct term is âboyfriendâ, not mate.â Luciel attempted to change the subject.
âWhatever, I feel unimportant to you.â Yoosung looked as if he was on the brink of tears. What a weird demon.
âMy father and siblings wouldnât like it.â Luciel sighed.
âYour family?â Yoosung perked up. âYou donât talk about them.â
âDonât really see the point.â Luciel shrugged. âYou canât meet them.â
âWhy not?â Yoosung asked.
âFor one, Iâve never seen you use the same body twice.â Luciel pointed out, cooing at the cute flush that spread across his mateâs face.
âIâll fix that!â Yoosung pleaded. âStick with this one! They wouldnât ever see you with âdifferentâ people!â
âTwo, and more importantly, youâre a demon. One who thinks itâs a good idea to just walk up to strangers and offer preposterous deals for their souls.â Luciel finished.
Yoosung deflated, seeming to curl in on himself.
âYour family is religious?â Yoosung asked in a small voice.
âVery.â Luciel nodded sharply. âSo, letâs just let this conversation drop, and get back to having fun.â
âI donât know.â Yoosung stared at his stolen feet. âI donât know if Iâm up for it.â
âWhat?â Luciel stopped short, in a park theyâd wandered into.
âI keep lying to my friends, and having to sneak out of Hell, maybe it would just be easier to date our own kinds.â Yoosung admitted. âI wouldnât have to worry about you dying either.â
âIâm not going to die.â Luciel protested weekly.
âYouâre mortal, youâll always die.â Yoosung said sadly.
âYoosung, I-â something collided with the back of his skull, hard. Hard enough to actually hurt, a difficult feat when one was actually an angel.
âSeven!â Yoosung panicked. âGet away from him!â
Luciel turned just enough to confirm his suspicions, and yup. That was definitely Saeran, his twin.
âYou stay your distance, demon.â Saeran growled, gripping Lucielâs shoulder, and nearly crushing the bones there.
âOw.â Luciel complained, glaring at his brother.
âDonât hurt him!â Yoosung protested.
âIt is not I who hurts him. I heard his distress, you are the one who dare hurts Luciel.â Saeran shot back.
âYouâre his protector, then? His angel?â Yoosung said slowly.
âIs that what he told you?â Saeran hit him again.
âStop that! That isnât what I said.â Luciel huffed. âAnd you can leave, you overprotective asshole.â
âYou were in pain.â Saeran stated simply.
âYeah, and youâre solution is to hit the pain out?â Luciel stuck out his tongue. âWe were fighting thatâs all.â
âIt doesnât look like much of a fight.â Saeran remarked.
âIf I go, will you leave him alone then?â Yoosung suggested, taking a small step back. âI wonât even talk to him again.â
âI can not leave him alone.â Saeran looked puzzled. âLuciel, why are we still here?â
âBecause Iâm trying to figure things out with my mate here!â Luciel hissed.
âBetter than a human, like one of our brothers.â
âLuciel, we are leaving, and will talk about this more back home.â
âSaeran, no.â Luciel stubbornly refused.
Saeran just placed a grace infused hand on his shoulder, taking advantage of Lucielâs concealed grace to overpower him.
The two started to glow, and Luciel pouted.
âNo!â Yoosung, poor confused demon that he was, yelled loudly.
Then something flashed through the air, and Luciel was moving instinctively in front of his twin.
The light faded, Saeranâs concentration snapped.
The clearing in the park was quiet, all three occupants staring at Luciel, or rather, Lucielâs chest. A stick protruded from just below his sternum, and Luciel could feel in highly disconcerting detail all the places his vessel was injured.
âA stick?â Luciel said dumbly. âWhat, did you think he was gonna smite me?â
Yoosung looked horrified, and a bit like he was going to throw up. Slowly, Yoosung moved towards him, Saeran taking a few steps back.
âSeven.â Yoosung gasped. âI-Iâm sorry! I didnât mean-â
âNo, you were aiming for Saeran, I get it.â Luciel rolled his eyes.
âS-sit down.â Yoosung gently pushed him to the ground. âAngel! A little help, please! Heâll die if you donât heal him!â
Saeran looked at Luciel, mischievous evil in his eyes and the tilt of his smirk. The asshole disappeared in a short flash of light.
âWhereâd he go?â Yoosung asked fearfully. âHeâs coming back, right?â
âNope.â Luciel deadpanned.
âW-what?!â Yoosung screeched. âNo! He canât! I canât heal! Iâm a demon! He has to come back! He has to save you! Youâre not allowed to die!â
âYoosung, I need to tell you-â
âNo. No âlast wordsâ, asshole!â Yoosung clutched Luciel close, a bit awkwardly, due to the stick. Luciel could feel tears wet and warm against his neck.
âYoosung, Sweetheart, please let me go.â
Yoosung sprung back like heâd been burned.
âO-of course.â He sniffled.
âGod, how are you a demon?â Luciel huffed as he firmly gripped the stick sticking out of his body.
âWhat are you doing?â Yoosung asked, looking for all the world like a kicked puppy.
âJust give me a minute.â Luciel hissed, tugging out the branch quickly, then tossing it to the side. âDamn you have a good arm.â
âSeven, you shouldnât-â Luciel batted away the worried hands trying to simultaneously trying to press against the hole in his chest and to keep him from rising.
Taking a breath in, Luciel shot one last look at Yoosung, then unfurled his grace, letting it shoot through his vessel to heal all his wounds.
âS-seven?â He asked slowly.
âYou can call me Luciel, if you want. Itâs my name.â Luciel rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
Luciel sighed. This was the hardest part.
âBecause I love you.â He shrugged. âBecause I didnât want to frighten you off.â
âYou love me?â Yoosung was red again. âAn angel loves me.â
âYeah, he does. Though heâll get angry if you keep throwing sticks at his twin.â Luciel joked.
Yoosung went pale again. âThat was your twin?! I attacked your twin. That's⌠not good.â
âItâs alright, he understands. Asshole.â Luciel reassured, pulling the currently short demon to him. âNo, really. As long as my grace doesnât bother you, Iâd like to keep seeing you.â
âIâd like that too.â Yoosung smiled.
Luciel later threw a rock at his brother, glaring as the jerk just laughed and looked smug.
