@yoohyunchul
booze and drugs, meet hyukâs christmas cheer. with the natural adrenaline already coursing through him, itâs only a matter of time hyukâs fuse blows up as he lifts his head, a flash of bright silver, from the table with a rolled up fifty thousand won bill between his fingers. unable to think straight with the ground shaking beneath him and the walls shifting and moulding into shapes they shouldnât be in, hyuk takes a final sip of a mix of something bitter and too strong, causing him to splutter and cough as he bends at the waist. maybe itâs time to go.Â
he doesnât know how he makes it through the crowd without falling. at last he leans into the boy heâs been looking for, pressing his face into the crook of his neck from the back, a quiet sight slipping from his lips. âletâs go home.â itâs barely over the loud sound of bass for hyunchul to hear, but it doesnât matter since he tugs at his wrist. âwhoâs that?â hyuk lifts his gaze slightly to meet the other person holding a conversation with hyunchul. well, now theyâre done talking, hyuk decides. âletâs fucking go, hyunchul.â
for hyunchul, things at the party he had arrived at with hyuk earlier were winding down, but the ruckus around him that was still going on told him otherwise. thatâs what happened when hyunchul got intoxicated --- things were a blast for awhile, until his mind became more blurred and the younger boy only seemed to respond to things by giggling. now heâd say heâs somewhere in the middle of the two, alone in a corner of the room with someone hyunchulâs pretty sure heâs hooked up with before when hyuk finds him. he can only slightly make out what the other says, but he understands enough for a pout to appear on his face as his head turns in the direction of the new found weight pressed against him.
blinking, hyunchul glances back at the guy heâd been flirting talking with just when he feels a tug at his wrist and he stumbles over his feet, eyebrows furrowing sadly when he only manages to sputter out âbut---â before hyuk drags him out from the crowd of people. i still donât know his name, he thinks to himself, and hyunchulâs shoulders droop enough to notice, but he doesnât say anything. he could very well protest hyukâs actions and go home by himself later on (who knows when), but even in his inebriated state hyunchul much prefers the company of someone he actually knows and is comfortable with on christmas, if it not be his brother. at this point, hyunchulâs sure heâs more comfortable with hyuk than he is with his own brother, but thereâs good reason. the last thing he needs is for his professional-business-man-hyung to see how he is when heâs with hyuk.
so, hyunchul follows behind the elder without question, quite like a child, and the brief disappointment of leaving the party early already begins to fade as his focus switches back to hyuk, the only now prominent thought on his mind with how drunk he is falling from his mouth quickly, âi can stay the night?â he asks cautiously, but his words still slur. âi donât... want to go back to the dorms.â
Cold. It was fucking cold. Hyuk had only realized this when he found himself trembling, soaked to the bone in his own blood and from the rain. He clenched his fists around his coat, the once smooth fur now matted and rough against his palms. The energy to even just sit up against the wall was starting to dim, causing Hyuk to slide down onto the ground once more. The shock of everything and the pain numbed only the mind while everything else burned. Hyuk gaped at the black sky, squinting up at it through the neon lights. He smelled of vanilla and blood and wet soil.
Hyuk wasnât sure if he had the worst luck, or the best one. Out of everyone he knew, it had to be Hyunchul. Hyunchul, the boy he had treated so cruelly not too long ago, the boy heâd pushed and seethed at. Hyunchul, one of the most forgiving, gentle idiots on this fucking planet. Hyuk was pretty sure Hyunchul would apologize for being in the way when heâd be run over by a truck. In the next few seconds, Hyuk was given the choice of giving up his life or his pride. He chose the latter.Â
No, you fucking idiot. Hyuk coughed, groaning, too tired to say anything. He sat up slowly, wheezing when he felt his sides burning as he tried to move. He placed a hand on his ribs, praying to whatever was out there that they werenât fractured. Hyuk tried to breathe, blood and spit spilling between his lips and his muscles tensing at the pain that was so overwhelming to the point that Hyuk was tempted to ask Hyunchul to just give him a couple of pills for him to black out for a while. Hyuk didnât wait for his reply as he staggered to his feet, his legs shaking, numb and blind in the dark. It didnât take long for Hyuk to lose his balance, submitting to the pain, and grabbing for Hyunchul for support. âHyunchul,â He spoke finally, his voice barely over a whisper. âHyunchul.â He repeated again numbly as he grasped at the boyâs arms. â-the fuck are you doing here.â His words slurred together as his head spun. âItâs so fucking cold.â He added, trying to sound as okay as possible.Â
âGet me out of here.âÂ
Asking if Hyuk was okay when he looked like heâd just been ran over by a train was more than just a stupid question, Hyunchul knew that, and the look Hyuk provided only confirmed it. There was only so much he could say after seeing him as he was though, and it was purely instinct for Hyunchulâs words to be as cautious as they were, also considering the last meeting they had wasnât a very comforting one. His face only seemed to grow more concerned as he observed how badly Hyuk was hurt, though his attention quickly moved onto supporting the elderâs weight once he finished struggling to get up.Â
All Hyunchul could do was watch and listen, which was a good thing with how the entire situation was leaving him at such a loss for words. Despite it all, in the back of his head Hyunchul didnât have to think very hard to know Hyuk had to have done something to have gotten himself where he was now. He wanted to ask, because he really did look awful, but now was definitely not the time. Right now he needed to get Hyuk home.Â
âI was---â What was he doing here? Distracting himself. Thatâs the best answer Hyunchul could come up with for himself, but before he was able to answer Hyuk nearly fell again and the youngerâs focus went into moving an arm underneath Hyukâs in order for the both of them to actually stumble their way out of the clubâs alley.
Huffing out a breath, Hyunchul shifted to get a better grip on Hyukâs coat and he hesitated, eyebrows furrowing worriedly as he glanced at Hyuk and then back at where he was walking to prevent either one of them from tripping. Hyunchul knew the way to Hyukâs apartment like the back of his hand, and they werenât that far away now, but the elder practically looked like he was about to pass out. âAre y--- Shouldnât you go to the hospital?â

@yoohyunchul
That particular night was just like the others, where Hyukâs head was spinning, lips apart in a daze as he felt a body next to his under the dim lights. Still feeling the warmth of where Hyunchul had touched with the cool sheet tangled between them, Hyuk was in an unusually good mood, satisfied how he ended his night. This time he didnât turn away, instead laid facing him, dark brown eyes studying Hyunchul, his lips in their natural state of a slight frown.¡
Fucking Hyunchul wasnât news; theyâd been doing it for a while ever since theyâve first met, their little trysts only increased by the fact they were both attending the same school. Though Hyunchul reminded Hyuk of those stupid looking golden retrievers, the boy still managed to have Hyuk shoving him against the wall and unbuckling his pants.¡
Shifting his weight slightly, the smooth scar across Hyunchulâs left cheek was caught under the lights, a flash of pale silver. Hyuk have seen it before countless of times, but never questioned it- probably a result of a reckless bar fight or a quarrel over some boy trouble. This time, however, curiosity got the best of it, causing him to lean in a little closer. âWhat happened here?â He murmured, the tips of his fingers brushing lightly against the smooth curve of his cheek.¡
The situation Hyunchul found himself in tonight wasnât unfamiliar, though it didnât feel like routine either. Hardly anything with Hyuk felt like a routine, no matter how often they did more or less the same things. They just did them in different ways, in different places, and with different people. It brought a plethora of new experiences. Still, finding himself in Hyukâs bed again was more comforting than anything else. Especially tonight, one of the rare times where the two of them stayed in bed together, Hyunchul huddled closer to Hyuk than normal and the usual haziness in his head simmering down into a dull, pleasurable feeling.¡
Moments like these didnât happen very often with Hyuk, though when they did, it was when Hyunchul felt the most at ease. Hyunchul, who was normally fairly anxious no matter the situation despite the actions he tried to mask it with and the current drugs that were slowly leaving his system, the tranquility in the boyâs body was easily noticeable and visible in his features. His head was lolling to the side, half nestled in the pillows underneath them both and half resting against the elderâs shoulder when he heard him speak.¡
It took a couple of seconds for the question to register with Hyunchul after he tilted his head up, watching Hyuk as his fingers brushed over his scar. He blinked a few times and his body went still, though Hyunchul didnât tense up as much as expected.¡âOh,â he exhaled, glancing away from Hyuk and hesitating before gaining an ounce of courage to actually speak, even if his words came out sparsely. âUm, I was--- My Uncle wears a lot of rings,â the single sentence made Hyunchul feel vulnerable, guilty even, but he still felt oddly calm next to the other. The question Hyuk asked itself brought some sense of relief to him. âHe just... got mad at me. It happened before I came to Daejeon.â

Maybe it wasnât the best idea to go to a club while sad, but Hyunchul was never the best at smart decisions, and going to a club seemed like the best way to distract himself from... everything. It was the only way he really knew how, anyway. Still it wasnât the best idea, which was why Hyunchul stumbled out from the venue to smoke not very long after arriving --- he probably should have come already somewhat under the influence, but Hyunchul had been way too distracted lately to think ahead that much.
Huffing out a nervous breath, Hyunchul walked out the back of the club into the small alleyway that it led out to and reached into his pocket for a lighter, though his movements paused when he finally lifted his head. Hyuk? Stupid of him to assume it was him at first glance when all he could see of the person was a fur coat a few yards away, but Hyunchul could easily say Hyuk was the only person he knew who actually wore fur coats, and this was a club the two of them had gone to together before. The only reason Hyuk had come to mind was probably venue Hyunchul had decided to spend his night, but he couldnât deny Hyuk was one of the only things he was thinking of recently.
He stepped over the pair of legs in front of him and he furrowed his eyebrows, head tilting in one direction in order to catch a glimpse of whoever he was standing over in the dimly lit space, Hyunchulâs mouth almost immediately falling open. He hesitated and felt himself tense when he saw Hyukâs face, or at least what parts of it he could actually see. âOh my god,â he muttered shakily, only wasting another second or two before he crouched down to the elderâs level. The only thing on Hyunchulâs mind now was helping, despite the last interaction the two of them had had; he clearly needed help and Hyunchul was without a doubt the last person to refuse Hyuk something like that.
â---Are you okay?â
( @noxwinnie )
Hyunchul was easy, in the simplest terms. He was easy to excite, easy to fool, easy to intrigue. Winnie was one of the many things (or people) Hyunchul was curious about. It mostly had to do with the fact he knew they had mutual friends, but also Hyunchul simply liked getting to know people in general, and Winnie was yet another person heâd not formerly met. They werenât super far apart in age, but Hyunchul was in University while Winnie wasnât, so spotting him during the day immediately sparked the elderâs attention. He attempted in approaching him in the least awkward way possible, though Hyunchul didnât have much shame in situations like these. He leaned over the younger and raised his eyebrows curiously, then excitedly, his expression brightening in a matter of seconds. âOh, I have that game!â

âThereâs only nine more Fridays until Christmas. Isnât that so exciting?â Najeong mentioned, trying her hardest to keep from breaking out into a full grin at the thought of the upcoming holiday. âI guess thatâs not so close, when you think about it⌠Have you done your holiday shopping yet?â
âReally?â Hyunchul grinned and turned his attention to the elder, eyebrows raising enthusiastically. Fall was his favorite season but Christmas definitely had to be his favorite holiday. âThat sounds really close,â he mused, the happy tone usually found in Hyunchulâs voice obviously present. âNo, have you? Itâs probably smart to do it now, right? Everyone rushes to the stores once November ends.â

âYouâre right. It was my fault. I shouldnât have asked.â Hyuk blinked, his voice monotone. He turned, raising his hand up as if he was about to caress his cheek, but thought better of it, putting his hand on his own knee instead. âI was careless. I shouldnât have asked if I didnât know what kind of responsibility I would be holding to some degree.â It was rare, where Hyuk spoke more than a few words when he wasnât discussing about his work or gossiping.Â
âI know you donât want much from me. But that little that you expect of, I canât provide.â He murmured, looking down. âNormally something like that brings people closer, makes one want to protect the other more.â Hyuk stopped, pressing his lips together. âIâm selfish, egoistic, self destructive, cruel. Incapable of liking you as much as you like me. You probably know this as well. The fact that both of us know this and is doing nothing about it makes it really, really fucked up, Hyunchul.â Hyuk pressed his hand against his face, palm rubbing against his jaw. âIâm not going to drag you down with me.â
There was a long pause from Hyuk, his head bowed as he stared at the ground numbly before inhaling deeply, looking back up at the boy, eyes vacant. ââŚBesides.â He said quietly, his fingers curling into fists as he thought of his next words. âYou were never that important to me. I merely thought of you as someone who I occasionally fuck. I didnât know I was going to be sucked into this kind of personal mess.â Hyuk wondered if Hyunchul could hear how fast his heart was beating, the lump in his throat that caused his voice to waver slightly. The red head clenched his jaws, his blank gaze staring at him.Â
âSo please, letâs not be a burden to each other.â
Chewing on his lip, Hyunchul busied himself by messing around with the sleeve of his shirt, only stopping to cringe at Hyukâs words at one point or another. He kept his head down though, purposely avoiding the elderâs eyes, even if he could most likely assume that Hyuk was doing the same. He wanted to nod, to give some kind of recognition, but Hyunchul just sat there, fingers tugging at the loose thread of the oversized shirt he was wearing.
This was unfair. That was still the only thing Hyunchul was thinking, but he didnât know why he expected things with Hyuk to be fair in the first place. He was stupid to want anything and expect anything from the elder, right? Thatâs all anyone ever thought Hyunchul to be --- he was stupid and naive. Childish. Most of that was true, anyway, but Hyunchul was scared, almost constantly, about something. Hyuk had taught him ways to distract himself and handle his anxiety better, even if they werenât in the slightest very healthy ways.
Though without everything Hyunchul had been introduced to, he could still easily say his anxiety had improved since heâd met Hyuk. He knew eventually heâd be fine without Hyuk too, because he didnât expect to follow around the elder like a puppy for the rest of his life. Hyunchul wasnât stupid. But now, being dropped to the side now was scary, and unexpected, and the lingering possibility that he would just go back to the way he was 3 years ago absolutely terrified him. The thought was almost always in the very far back of Hyunchulâs mind, but the fear only heightened with what Hyuk was saying.
His entire body ached, and Hyunchulâs eyes stung so badly that everything in front of him was blurry. He felt sick and quite literally wanted to disappear, more so when a few tears actually fell from the youngerâs face and he sniffed, tilting his head to the side to roughly wipe at his eyes. He took a moment to compose himself, which wasnât that hard to do since Hyunchul had more or less mastered being able to bottle things up when he most needed to, and he licked over his lips, rubbing his cheek absentmindedly.
Hyunchul moved to stand up (and hopefully leave) but he still leaned against the stool and tried to refrain from shaking, some of the stuffiness in his voice still there from having gotten so close to crying, âIf Iâm not important to you, whyâd do this? Couldnât you have just shoved me away? ...Yelled at me? That wouldâve been better,â he sniffed and cleared his throat, continuing to keep his head down as he blinked away the remaining wetness of his eyes, âand you wouldnât have seemed like you were lying right now either.â
yu-hyuk:
Please donât cry. Just please donât fucking start crying. Hyuk begged in his head, hearing Hyunchulâs voice waver. If Hyuk gave in and tried to physically comfort the boy, he may actually get too comfortable and start with the tears. Better keep it safe, Hyuk thought warily. Better keep the distance. Crossing his arms tightly against his chest, he looked away, blinking.Â
Hyunchul had the right to ask. Hyuk had thousands of different answers ready to be given to him; all he had to do was choose what would be the best for the both of them. It was almost graphic, how Hyunchul was so twisted in sorrow and desperation. Hyuk gritted his teeth, wondering whether telling him the truth would be better, or a lie that would keep him away. Hyuk kept silent, selfishly dragging it on for his own sake of comfort. He turned his back on him, placing his hands on his hips as he sighed loudly, eyes briefly closing.Â
Maybe he should just stay like this. Give him the silent treatment before Hyunchul left on his own. After considering this, he threw the idea away. No, that would leave too many loose ends which theyâll both regret about. God, he wasnât mad at him, he was mad at himself. How did he, no, they end up like this? What happened to the light hearted intimacy where there were no promises? How was Hyuk so tied down?
Hyuk attention snapped back to Hyunchul, turning around at his last question. Slowly coming to a decision, Hyuk walked towards him, sitting him down before settling down besides him. âYou didnât do anything wrong.â He finally spoke, unable to look at him. âIâm not mad at you.â He repeated again. âItâs- âŚwe shouldnât have-â Hyuk tried to explain before ruffling his hair in frustration, unable to find the correct words. âI canât do it. That night made me realise how fucking attached you were getting to me.â Okay, this wasnât what he planned but it should have the same effect. Being unkind came too naturally to him. âYouâre not gonna get what you want from me. Iâm not a complete trash to drag this on.â It was a truth in the rough, where his words could have been more gentle, where he could have explained a little more. But Hyuk just couldnât do it, letting Hyunchul interpret his explanation however he wanted to.
Hyunchul went silent again, his expression transitioning into more of a blank state as he waited for whatever Hyuk was going to say or explain, if he was going to do that at all. He didnât know what to expect, not that he ever did around Hyuk, but this was different. He let himself be sat back on the stool and he watched as the elder sat down right beside him. Sitting down before saying something. That was never a good sign.
âBut nothing--- Nothing changed,â Hyunchul blinked and his eyebrows furrowed, mouth halfway open though he paused in the middle of his words. He was just confused. Upset. He wasnât sure if he was sad anymore, he just didnât get it. This wasnât fair. âNothing changed,â he said, more desperately this time, yet his expression was actually steady as he looked at Hyuk. âI donât... want anything from you. You asked me a question and all --- all I did was answer you.â
The younger hesitated and furrowed his eyebrows again slightly, his jaw clenching as he tried to ignore the awful feeling that was still resting in his stomach. âThe only thing thatâs changed is what you know about me. I donât need your sympathy or your pity or your--- I donât want anything from you,â he responded, doing his best to keep his voice firm though it ended abruptly. He let out an inaudible sigh and looked to Hyukâs side. âWhat do you think I want?â Hyunchul mumbled, his voice once again getting quieter and his eyes drifting between them.
