Managing the Cuckoo House

Robin nods, “Oh, yeah, I can certainly get you a copy of them!” Like study notes! He’d made more than enough of those before. And maybe going over everything while making the copy would help him tidy them up, or show him something he’d missed.

“Right! Rooftops it is then!” Hyperspace was more than right about questions, even if some people were sorta used to them at this point. “Now, shall we find a fire escape, or do you wanna jump with a bit less gravity?”

Robin shrugs, easily finding the paths he wanted to take. “It seems like it. And figuring out the correlation between these locations might help, but I haven’t been able to figure one out yet.” And he’d been trying. Had a map of the city, notes, and everything. Robin had faith that he’d figure it out eventually, especially given that there was four of them now. Which gave him four additional data points to work with.

“Usually I stick more to the rooftops, got an advantage over gravity and whatnot.” He hums, glancing back for a moment, “But we can stick more to the streets, if you’d be more comfortable with that?”

Pulsar was right about that. If they could find a correlation between all of the monsters... “If you can give me your notes, I can see about putting the data together and look at it myself.” Making a program to analyze and organize that sort of stuff shouldn’t be too difficult. Especially with four different sources of input.

Robin actually laughs slightly as the other magi echoes him, “Yeaaaah, he didn’t give me a name to call him, so that’s what I’ve been calling him.”

Robin nods, pushing himself off of the wall. It seemed his moment to rest was over, but there’d be more time later. He hoped. In either case, he motions of the other magi to follow him. “C’mon then, we’ll follow my usual route for now. It covers some of the more busy areas of town, and areas I’ve seen corrupted ones multiple times.”

“Yup. A very good thing, given the amount of fights we get into.” And the amount of times Robin had taken a hit for other members of the team. Especially Alma. He did love his boyfriend, but the poor guy couldn’t take a hit. Not that Robin actually minded.

“Mhm, I’d rather not just throw you into the deep end.” He’d rather not being trying to both fight a monster and find out if the new kid could purify them. A little bit too much that could go wrong there. Which left them with… “Well, that leaves us with tracking down Grumpy-Pants… Who might be on patrol somewhere? I mean, if nothing else, you’ll get a feel for patrolling! Even if we don’t find him.”

“...Grumpy-pants?” Somehow, that said a lot about this other magi. No one in their right mind would actually choose to get called that. Not on purpose. Well, at least it was a bit of a comfort that they weren’t supposed to be all sunshine and rainbows? But for a guy to have that nickname... “He sounds delightful.”

“Different names, same battle.” He nods. He’d found that curious. All of them, fighting the same things, just calling them different names. Stars had at least alluded to others and their fights. Sounded like this guy hadn’t been told anything like that.

“You do bring up a good point. We naturally heal faster than regular people do, even out of magi form.” He hums, considering the question. Alma had healing powers and could purify. Grumpy-pants could purify, but Robin didn’t know if he could heal. “I’ll have to ask the others. It certainly seems to line up quite nicely though. Those with healing powers can also purify does make sense. I can’t do either, one of the others can do both, and another can at least purify. Which leaves the question of ‘can he heal too’?”

“Yeah, I’ve noticed that. Leaves less scars, too.” Didn’t seem to do anything about previous scars, but it was definitely useful. “I know I can make things that help with healing, but I haven’t tried purifying yet. It’d probably be the same method, though...” Cole let out a soft hum of thought, making sure to make notes of what he was being told about the others.

“Viruses? Not a bad way to put it. We’ve been calling them ‘The Corrupted’, although… I was originally told that they were ‘The Creeping Devouring’.” Stars was very dramatic. And as a teen, he had been mildly delighted by Stars manner of speech. Now? Not so much. There were times where he wished Stars would just speak plainly. Not that he’d ever say that to them. It seemed disrespectful.

“We usually patrol around the city to keep an eye out for them, so you’ll see them or the others around soon enough.” He does motion with his hands as he talks, “They’re a danger to the general population, se we do try to take them out as fast as possible. They can be… a little overwhelming in groups though, and tough… And some of us are capable of ‘purifying’ them, removing the corruption. I’m unfortunately not capable of that, as far as I’ve been able to figure. It’s a bit of a setback, but that’s why I’m glad I’ve found the others. I figure we’re meant to work in teams, or something.”

“Hm... Different names for the same thing...” Which made one thing clear; Whatever these deities were that gave them these powers, they all were well aware of this corruption. Still, it was good to learn about his new ‘job’ in more detail. The voice from his laptop was a little vague in that department. Just said that he needed to deal with the viruses.

“Tech? That’s neat.” Robin nods, smiling slightly as the other boy talks. And the scanning ability definitely sounded useful. “I might recommend thinking of something though to call yourself, given that there’s… well, there’s a few of us around now. “

Robin shifts so that he’s leaning on the wall instead. They seemed to be safe enough for the moment. So taking the opportunity this conversation presented, he’d take the time to rest a bit. “You can call me Pulsar though. My thing is gravity manipulation, and waaay to much knowledge about outerspace a physics. That’s by choice though.” He grins, “So, any questions?”

“It probably would make things easier, huh.” Though it did make him wonder. Just how many others were there? Obviously enough to matter, if they were giving each other codenames. “I dunno, call me Hyperspace? If we’re going with theming it to our magic, at least.” Hyperspace did sound cool... Maybe he’ll actually stick with it.

Oh boy. So he was new then. There’s a slightly bigger sigh, this one with some clear concern. Robin finds himself unwilling thinking about when he had only been a month in, 15, and trying to figure everything out for himself. Which sparks more than a little concern for the other boy.

“Okay, so, new. Got it.” Another sigh, as he makes a motion with his hands. “Right, well, feel free to ask any questions you have, but first… You got a name I can call you? And what are your powers?”

Cole shrugged, though a bit of a frown had crossed his face. It was pretty clear that the other was concerned about the newbie; He didn’t need to analyze to see that. “Not really, no. I didn’t even think of anything.” As far as he had known, Cole had been the only magical boy nearby. Finding this blue-themed guy had been a surprise.

“Look, keeping your head on a swivel is a necessity in this… job.” Robin states the fact as flatly as he can, looking over to the boy dressed in red. He hadn’t seen this particular magical boy before, which meant one of two things. Either, he was new to the area or he was new to the job. Robin wasn’t sure which was worse. Because on one hand, maybe magical boys were being drawn to the area for some reason. Or, that and he was also very new.

He sighs, running his free hand though his hair. “Okay, so… Exactly how new to this are you?” It was going to bug him if he didn’t ask.

There’s a visible pause at the other’s question, briefly considering how truthfully he should answer. Cole already could figure that the redhead was more experienced than he was, given what info he could get. But even then... He let out a sigh, leaning back a bit.

His pout unfortunately generates another bit of laughter from her. “Yes, how terribly mean of me!” Please give her some credit Lexi, she’s trying.

She hums, looking over at the books and then back to Lexi. They had time, Diana was still in the planning stages for the hunt. “Come on now, I’m sure it wont be too bad. It’s not like you’re going to dream of numbers or anything!”

“You can’t be sure of that. I might have a dream where a life or death situation can only be solved by numbers.” There was a pause, only for a few moments, before Lexi started snickering under his breath. With the way he was complaining, he could only keep a straight face for so long.

Diana does do her best to hold in her laughter. But Lexi’s complaining was pretty funny. She does however reach over and ruffle his hair, grinning. They could put off studying for a few minutes to let him complain.

“There there Lexi!” Okay, maybe not totally hiding the laughs. But she’s trying, do give her some credit. “It does sound like your professor is laying it on a bit thick. But I’m sure you can handle it!”

He openly pouted at her when she laughed, his arms crossing over his chest. “I’m over here suffering, and you’re giggling at me. So mean, Didi.” Not like Lexi could actually stay mad with her. Diana was humoring him, after all. He stretched out after a few moments, rolling onto his side.
