Philly’s Acori Honzo couldn’t find figurines of Black folks, so he started sculpting them  

“Shortly after the 2008 death of actor Heath Ledger, Philadelphia artist Acori Honzo studied the intricate details of a 12-inch figurine of Ledger’s Joker character from The Dark Knight. His wife had purchased the figurine while shopping at Comic Universe in Delaware County. 

Inspired, Honzo decided to start collecting figurines. He wanted to include Black characters and celebrities in his collection, but when he searched for them, he couldn’t find any. So he bought sculpting supplies to create his own…“

A Black teacher in Brooklyn is at risk of losing her housing because her roommates abandoned their leases without warning. Management is owed $6500. Some is back pay because it's a pandemic and things are difficult. She would like to pay off that amount and get two additional roommates for the 4 bedroom loft style apartment in Bushwick. She has been negotiating with management since the beginning of the pandemic. And now she has no protection and NYC isn't offering any material assistance. She doesn't qualify for aid and we have tried all the things. I've provided rona rations throughout. She needs cash. Now.
