HEAR ME OUT.
MIRIO FASES THRU THE DOOR AND SEES READER IN THE SHOWER, AND IT GETS
freaky
(smut)
hiii, this one actually made giggle. ty for the req, i had fun making this one! i feel like mirio doesn't get enough love!!!
warning for nsfw; obvi mirio breaks into your bathroom (not maliciously), your bf is kind of pervy, oral sex in a shower, established relationship
mirio togata x f!reader - you perv
also we're going to ignore the fact that his quirk makes his regular clothes fall off just this onceâmiiiigghhhttt utilize that in another fic though
"Babe? Are you home?"
A pause.
"Darling girlfriend of mine?"
Mirio's voice was left unreplied to as he stood alone in your dorm. He was still absently texting you to see if you were out somewhere else, not quite paying attention to anything yet idly appreciating the view of your dorm. Little trinkets, posters, gifts, clothes, things of yours that reminded him of how much he loved you and the person you were. Then he heard water runningâfrom the bathroom.
Absentmindedly, he left his phone on the bed and started towards the doorâhe simply thought it was the sink and maybe you were still getting ready for the date he'd planned for you two later. He scouted a new cafe while on a mock patrol and thought that you'd loved it, so he texted you to be ready before three but didn't tell you where; he wanted it to be a surprise!
Close Enough To Burn
an: sorry i havent posted for this in so long, i highkey forgot abt it Part 7 of 'This is NOT a crush' ft bakugou x reader: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
The library was quieter than usual. Not silent â just quiet in that particular way a place gets when everyone is too exhausted from exams to gossip. Books closed softly. Pages turned. Pens scratched. And in the far corner, at your usual table, Katsuki Bakugou sat slouched in his chair like he was doing you a favor just by existing.
Which, technically, he was. Because he was here to tutor you.
You placed your quirk medicine textbook down gently, smoothing the page with your thumb. âThanks again for doing thisââ
ââm not doing anything,â he grunted immediately, not looking at you. âJust makinâ sure you donât embarrass yourself in the next exam.â
You smiled. You always did that when he said something rude in a way that wasnât actually rude. âAnd here I thought you were helping me.â âDonât push it,â he muttered.
But he didnât move away when you pulled your chair closer.
In fact â if he noticed your knee brushed his under the table, he didnât flinch. He pretended not to notice, but the tiny twitch in his jaw said otherwise.
Your POV: You clicked your pen, turning to a chapter titled:
âQuirk Physiology: Strain, Adaptation, and Biological Cost.â
âItâs just basic stuff,â you explained, âbut UA exams love scenario questions. Like⌠how the body reacts to overusing an emitter-type quirk, or what internal systems a quirk relies on.â
Bakugou scoffed but leaned forward, elbows on the table.
âYeah, well. Half of you extras donât actually know shit about how quirks feel to use.â
He said it like you werenât one of the âextras,â and you caught that. You didnât call him on it.
Instead, you took a quiet breath and asked:
âThen⌠how does yours feel?â
He froze. Only for a second â but you saw it.
ââŚWhat kinda question is that?â
âA medical one,â you said softly.
His eyes flicked up to meet yours. The lamps above you cast this warm, gold glow across his cheekbone, highlighting every tiny crease of irritation â or was that nerves?
You waited.
He grunted once, dropped his eyes to the table, and opened his hands palm-up.
You leaned in without meaning to.
Bakugouâs POV Her chair slid closer. Too close. Close enough that he could smell her shampoo. Close enough that he could hear her breathing. Close enough that if he looked sideways â really looked â their cheeks would almost brush.
Tch. Focus, damn it.
He forced his eyes down to his palms. âWhen I sweat,â he began, voice low and controlled, âmy body basically converts certain chemical compounds into nitroglycerin. I store it in my sweat glands.â
She hummed thoughtfully â not dismissive, not bored. Interested. Curious. About him.
He swallowed.
âAnd when I fire explosions,â he continued, âmy hands burn like hell if I havenât warmed up first. Sometimes I get micro-tears in the skin, so Recovery Girl gives me this ointment crap.â âDoes it hurt?â she whispered. He flicked a glance at her â only to find her staring at his palms with this focused softness that made his chest do something it absolutely shouldnât. ââŚSometimes,â he admitted.
She nodded slowly. Then her finger came forwardâ âThe scars hereâmay I?â
He didnât move. Didnât breathe.
Her fingertip brushed the pale raised line at the base of his thumb. A ghost of a touch. Barely anything.
But something in his stomach dropped.
His breath hitched.
And she wasnât even looking at his face â she was just studying his skin. Studying him.
Like he was interesting.
Like he was worth studying.
His mind spiraled instantly.
Whyâs she so close?Whyâre her hands so soft? Why does that feel⌠good? What the hell is wrong with me?Focus. FOCUS.
She pulled back gently, writing something in her notebook.
You didnât see him staring at you. You didnât see the way his throat tightened. You didnât see the beginning of something messy and inconvenient forming in his chest.
Your POV: âAnd do you notice strain anywhere else?â you asked, still scribbling. âArms? Chest? Back?â His eyebrow twitched. ââŚWhy do you wanna know all this?â âBecause you're useful,â you said.
Horrible choice of words. The worst.
Bakugou recoiled like you stabbed him.
âNoâ not likeâ I meant academically!â you sputtered, waving your pen. âYour experiences help with my studies. Youâve fought hundreds of quirks and know how they affect the body. I just want to understand.â
Bakugou stared at you.
Then something in his face changed â something you couldnât read â and he opened his notebook like he needed a distraction.
âTch. If you wanted to know more, you shoulda said that instead of gettinâ all close,â he muttered. âI wasnâtâ!â âYou were.â
You huffed. âI needed to see the scars.â
He choked â actually choked â then snapped his gaze away, ears bright red.
Then, quieter:
ââŚFine. Whatever. Ask your damn questions.â
You bit back a smile.
Bakugouâs POV: They moved on to other quirks.
She asked how electricity quirks affect reflexes. He explained Kaminariâs brain-fry. She asked how engine-type quirks strain calves and lower back. He explained Iidaâs maintenance scars. She asked about ice burns, creation quirks, and overexertion.
Everything she said was smart. Precise. Focused. She wasnât guessing â she understood the mechanics.
And every time she tilted her head while listening, a little strand of hair slipped forward and brushed her cheek.
He noticed it every time.
He noticed the way she chewed her pen cap. The way her eyebrows knit when she concentrated. The way she mouthed vocabulary silently before writing it down. The way she didnât hesitate to challenge him â not to be rude, just because she could. The way she leaned in when she was excited about learning something new. The way she smiled after getting an answer right.
He noticed EVERYTHING.
And that was the problem.
Why the hell am I⌠looking at her this much? Why is thisâNo. NO. No no no noâ
He shut his notebook a little too fast.
You blinked. âEverything okay?â ââŚNo.â You straightened. âOh. Do you want to stop?â He glared. But not at you â at himself. âI didnât say that.â
You waited. He didnât know how to explain it. How was he supposed to say: I canât look at you this much without losing my mind. Stop leaning close or Iâm gonna forget how to breathe. Stop being smart, and pretty, and annoyingâstop making me like youâ
He ran a hand through his hair harshly. âJustââ He swallowed. âTurn the page.â
You did.
Good. Something normal. Something safe.
Except it wasnât safe.
Not when you smiled like that. Not when your knee touched his again under the table. Not when your voice softened every time you said his name.
Not when he felt like this.
Like something inside him was starting to burn hotter than his quirk.
And he didnât know how to put it out.
Your POV: You turned the page, gently pulling your chair a little closer so you both could see the diagrams.
Bakugou didnât move away.
For the first time, he didnât even pretend to.
You tapped the corner of a section on emitter quirk fatigue. âSo⌠can you explain this part in your own words? I want to make sure I understand it clearly.â
He sighed dramatically â but there was no real heat behind it.
ââŚFine. Listen close.â
You did.
You always did.
And Bakugou Katsuki, who was definitely not supposed to care about an extra like you â realized he had already crossed the line. And worse: He didnât want to go back.
Too Close To The Sun
Yandere!Mirio Togata x gn reader (this is the third chapter: first, second) warnings: (the fic has dealt with things surrounding obsessive behaviour but it's heavier in this part) restraints, power imbalance, manipulation, isolation, cameras, suggestive wc: ~1k
Too Close To The Sun
Yandere!Mirio Togata x gn reader (this is the second chapter, first is here) wc: 1k
You told yourself it was support. It was simpler to believe that than to notice when things stopped being your choice. At some point, you stopped being the one who decided when you flew. It didnât happen all at once, but that would have made it easier to fight. Instead, it slipped in quietly, tucked between gentle reminders and careful hands guiding you back to the ground. âYouâre overheating.â âYou donât need to fly today.â âYou donât feel well enough for that.â Each one said in the same way he said everything else: soft and certain, impossible to argue with without sounding unreasonable. At first, you held your tongue. Why wouldnât you? He was helping, right? He always helped⌠Cooling packs pressed into your hands before you could ask, timers set without you noticing, water bottles appearing at your side like heâd known youâd need them before you did, his voice steadying your uneven breaths, his hands catching you before your legs gave out. He would always assure you with the same phrase âYouâre okay, Iâve got you.â And it was true.
However, somewhere on the way, it all stopped feeling like a choice. Care blurred into something heavier; something that lingered in every touch and every word, until it seeped into your very beings and the four walls of your beautiful cage home.Â
He watched you more closely now â not just when you were in the air, but before. After. Always. He was waiting for the moment youâd push too far again. LIke he didnât trust you not to.
The first time you tried to push past it â just once, just to prove you still could â his smile didnât falter. âI know your limits better than you do.â He murmured, arms wrapping around you tight. It wasnât harsh, nor was it loud, but it settled in your chest along with worse pain compared to the failure of if you had fallen. That was when something shifted between you two, quiet and irreversible.Â
Your quirk wasnât the dangerous thing. You were.
Your containment was redesigned under the guise of comfort.
Ventilation systems that funneled cool air directly into your room. Heat-resistant padding along the floors âin case of collapse.â WIndows sealed shut, not locked, just nonfunctional. A hero grade door that didnât open unless Mirio was physically present. âYouâd melt if there was a fire,â he explained casually, adjusting a sensor at your wrist. âI canât let that happen.â
He never raised his voice. Never restrained you directly. Never needed to. Because Permeation made walls meaningless. Privacy was meaningless.
You started to feel him before you saw him â a pressure in the air, a sense of being watched from angles that shouldnât exist. Sometimes youâd turn, heart racing, only to find him already behind you, having phased through the floor like he belonged there.Â
Which he did.
âCareful.â Heâd say lightly, that boyish smile always plastered on his face. âYouâre running warm.â
Due to this treatment, your wings grew weaker. They were your heat and will, the thing allowing you to soar â but you were held down by a Mirio. He noticed. âIâm proud of you,â Mirio said, hand heavy on your shoulder. âYouâre not relying on flight as a crutch anymore.â
You stopped telling him how you dreamed of the sky.
The vents whispered freedom. You found them by accident, your fingers tracing the ceiling in restless desperation. The metal was so cold it hurt. But you studied it for days, planning carefully.Â
The day arrived when you were going to attempt to crawl to freedom. Mirio was gone the whole day, you never got time like this to yourself â so what better way to celebrate than being yourself? Your heart pounded, heat blooming in your chest despite everything.
Donât panic. Panic overheats.
The grate slid open. Inside, the vent was narrow and unforgiving, scraping your elbows raw. But it didnât matter. You yearned for your freedom back. You moved faster.
For the first time in months, the air didnât feel monitored.
Then the vent lost weight beneath you. A hand phased up through the metal, fingers becoming solid around your ankle with perfect precision. Not frantic nor rushed. Controlled.
Mirioâs voice drifted up, calm and disappointed. âOh, you couldâve hurt yourself,â he sighed âI knew I couldnât leave you home alone. Arenât you glad I came back?â
Yeah, Mirio. Real glad.
Mirio phased through the vent wall, emerging fully and crouching effortlessly in the space that really shouldnât have been able to hold him. His smile was still there but it was strained now. âDo you know what happens if you fall from that height while overheated?â he asked gently.
You thrashed. The sudden movement spiked your temperature instantly â your quirk reacted on instinct, heat flaring uselessly against the cold metal. Your wings tried to form and failed halfway, collapsing into painful nothing.
Mirioâs grip tightened. âThere it is,â he murmured. âSee? This is why I canât let you make choices like this.â He pulled you against his chest, one arm iron around your back, the other bracing your head like you were fragile glass. âYou donât run well,â he continued, almost apologetically. âYou fly. And flying will get you killed.â
The vent wall phased around you as he carried you back. You couldnât tell where you were anymore â up, down, through â until suddenly you were horizontal again, laid carefully on your bed. Straps clicked into place; they were soft, padded, and temperature regulated.
âI didnât want it to come to this,â Mirio said, kneeling beside you. His eyes searched your face desperately, like you were the one slipping away. âBut you donât understand how much I need you alive. The first person I saved.â
Your body shivered as the cooling system kicked in, heat dragged from your veins. Mirio brushed your hair back with shaky fingers. âIf I let you go,â he whispered, voice cracking for the first time, âthe world would burn you out. And I canât save you from that.â
He stood, composure snapping back into place. âSo Iâll save you from yourself instead.â
The door sealed. The air cooled. And far above you, higher than you would ever be allowed to go again, the sky waited.

Too Close To The Sun
based on this Yandere!Mirio Togata x gn reader, multi chapter story roughly 900 words for context, reader has a quirk based on Icarus.
You were warned before you ever stepped foot onto UA training grounds. It wasnât formal, nor was it in a way that could be written down or signed. A hushed, measly conversation that dissipated when you entered the room. Teachers exchanged looks that lingered too long⌠A pause â barely noticeable â whenever your name came up beside the word hero. Your quirk was impressive. That was their exact word. Not safe, not promising like the others, just impressive. âIcarus,â one of them had said once, as if it was a joke that didnât quite land. âFitting.â All you could do was smile. They didnât understand. Flying wasnât just your quirk â it was the only time you felt right. Everything was suddenly weightless in a way that made it all seem optional. Gravity, expectation, fear⌠all of it fell away the higher you went. So when they told you to hold backâ You didnât. You couldnât. Training started like any other; in a controlled environment. Timed flights, monitored output, hydration breaks, temperature checks. Limits. You learned them, then broke them. âYouâre overheating.â You laughed it off. âIâm fine.â You werenât but you didnât crash that day, so it didnât matter⌠right? It got worse before it got obvious. Your flights lasted longer. Your landings got harder. Your body started shaking when you touched the ground, wax clinging to your skin longer after your wings disappeared. Of course they noticed, re-adjusted, offered unwanted advice. You knew your body best, though you were stubborn. Of course you heard them, you just didnât listen. Every time you flew a little higher, just for a moment, you felt untouchable.
The day everything went wrong felt no different at first. Clear skies, open air. Just you and the kind of height that made your chest ache in the best way. You remember thinking: just a little higherâŚHeat built faster than usual, curling in your lungs, threading through your veins. Your wings flared brighter, unstable yet stronger. Warning signs you ignored. Just a little more.Slowly, the sky began to melt into the blackness of your peripheral, the pounding in your chest subsided, air escaped your lungs.Â
And then nothing.
You woke up cold. Artificial and controlled. Hands laid stiffly on your shoulders, voices you couldnât focus on drifted through the room. A faint, steady beep crowded your senses. Thatâs when he appeared through the fog clouding your vision. Steady warmth radiated off him, with bright eyes and an easy smile. âHey,â he said, like you already knew him. âWelcome back.â Your throat was dry. ââŚdid I crash?â
The blonde winced. âYeah,â he admitted. âBut youâre okay. Thatâs what matters right?â He beamed before rubbing his neck sheepishly and offering a hand. âIâm Togata Mirio, by the way. Weâre in the same year, Iâm also a hero student.â You didnât answer, still hooked on the fact that being safe didnât feel like it was what mattered. Instead, you reached both shaky hands towards his, holding it in your own for a brief moment as you lost yourself in the warmth. Coming back to yourself, you realised what you were doing and hastily shook his hand.Â
After that, things changed. Not all at once, though that would have been easier. They said your quirk has progressed too far, that external regulation wouldnât be enough anymore, that what you needed now wasnât monitoringâÂ
It was management. You had immediately launched into argument, insisting that you needed more training, that you could handle it. You were willing to endure the strain, the pain, the heat clawing at your insides if it meant you could still fly.
For a moment the world hesitated and you almost reached the height of pleasure you felt when in the sky. Maybe they would let you soar? Unfortunately, you were shackled by compromise.
Mirio didnât look like a solution. He was too bright, too easy, too kind to be anything resembling restraint.
âIâll be sticking with you for a while,â he said, grinning like it was the best news heâd heard all day. âThink of it as a support system.â
And at first it was. He didnât stop you from flying, not really. He just watched you train and helped out. He timed you, he reminded you to drink water, he pressed cooling packs into your hands before you could ask, he talked you down when your breathing got uneven. âYouâre okay.â âIâve got you.â âJust come down slowly.â And every time you did as you were asked.
âYou did great,â he told you after one landing when your legs nearly gave out beneath you. Laughing weakly, you responded âThat didnât feel great.â âDoesnât matter, youâre improving.â He said easily You desperately wanted to believe it, believe him. The first time he stopped you, it was solely different to every other time. It was concerned.
Your wings had barely formed when his hand caught your wrist. âNot today,â he smiled.
Blinking, you questioned him. âI can handle it.â âI know you think you can.â It wasnât harsh, not dismissive either, just certain. âLetâs take a break, yeah?â You hesitated, looking at the sky and then back to him. For reasons you couldnât explain, you listened for once. One of his muscular arms wrapped around your back, just under your shoulders to support your legs as he guided you towards safety.Â
au: im hoping to get chapter 2 out rlly soon, im actually so excited for this
Too Close To The Sun
SOOOOOO, this was originally a short lil thing but I've decided to turn it into a full fic with multiple chapters 𤯠(maybe some headcanons to go along with it?). I AM INCREDIBLY EXCITED. drabble here if your interested: ______ And the first chapter is out now ;)
(MDNI) which pet name makes you clench the hardest - ft. Nanami
"Y-you're not gonna finger me properly? No? OkayâŚ"
Taking a deep, shuddering breath in, you tried not to fuck your hips downwards so that you could chase the pleasure Nanami's fingers refused to give you. The blonde was half-sprawled on top of you, barely hovering with one firm bicep framing the side of your head.
How long had it been since he had come home from work and initiated spicy time with you, as you liked to call it? One hour? Two?
Time was nothing but a blur as Nanami worked two thick, deft fingers inside of you â rolling the pad of his thumb over your pert clit in tight circles.
But he had no intention of making you cum. Not yet, for he had a little experiment he wanted to try out first.
"Let me try something," he murmured, fingers still buried knuckle-deep inside of your cunt.
You nodded, brows knitting in the middle. But then Nanami spoke once more, his voice taking on a low timbre that sent heat rushing to your cheeks.
"Baby."
Your pussy clenched â just a little â around your husband's fingers. As expected. Nanami chuckled, mentally logging down the exact pressure that had squeezed at his pruning digits.
"Love?" he asked this time, thin brow raised.
You shook your head, lips tightening into a thin line so that you could suppress the breathy sounds threatening to leave you. Your body gave you away, however, giving Nanami another squeeze â harder this time.
"Stop," you whispered, your pussy now beginning to thoroughly coat his fingers in a glossy sheen of your slick.
"That's not quite right," Nanami observed, shifting himself upwards ever so slightly. His lips were against your ear now, voice low.
"Sweetie."
Clench.
"Honey?"
Squeeze.
"âŚdarling?"
At that, your body tensed, pussy fluttering wildly around his fingers. Nanami was quick to notice the way your lips parted, a chorus of gasps and pleas leaving you. Then, your hand came up, tightly gripping Nanami's wrist in a desperate attempt to get him to move.
"There it is."
"Please, Ken. Move your fingers. I think 'mâ I feel like I'm close."
"Already?"
You shook your head, face screwing slightly in embarrassment, which prompted the man to chuckle.
"Ah, I suppose I've been mean enough, darling." Nanami's voice lowered, dropping an octave as he punctuated his words with a firm curl of his fingers inside of you. He watched as your back arched, both of your breathing turning heavier when he came to his final conclusion.
Your favourite pet name he had for you was darling, and there was no doubt about it.
And so Nanami began fingering you, properly now. It was the most talkative he had ever been, with lips nipping against your ear as he talked you through the sudden burst of pleasure hitting you all at once.
"Oh, my darling," he crooned, voice smooth but laced with increasing hunger. "Is this too much? Do you like it when your husband coddles you like this?"
"Yesyesyesâ wait, no. D-don't call me thatâ"
Nanami's fingers continued to stroke inside of you steadily, your arousal dripping down his wrist by now with each deliberate thrust. With each purred pet name sent your way, your walls squeezed involuntarily around him, before you could even register what he had just called you.
"Seems like your bodyâ ah, you're squeezing again â knows what she needs."
A series of pecks came your way, landing on your lips and cheek and whatever bit of skin your teasing husband could reach.
He didn't even wait for you to respond, too engrossed in making you feel good. The pressure on your clit returned, Nanami's thumb working overtime to draw out every ounce of pleasure he could bring you.
"Close, darling? I can feel it." He swallowed, now lowly grunting into your ear. The slight ache in Nanami's wrist was worth it as he angled it down, stroking against that one spongy spot inside of you that had you positively writhing against him.
"Go on, make a mess all over your husband."
With Nanami's loving words of encouragement, you did â letting go until the breath left your lungs in heaving pants. The mess only grew wetter, soaking the sheets below as you came with a cry.
He could only watch with a look of utmost devotion on his face, grinding his palm against your clit in an attempt to wring out your orgasm to the fullest. And when Nanami pulled his fingers out of you with a squelch, webs of your slick glued his fingers together â snapping wetly when he pulled them apart.
"I don't think my work is done quite yet," he sighed, situating himself between your spread legs.
With two large hands on either one of your thighs, he squeezed â coaxing them onto his hips.
Something prodded you down below, hard to the touch as it moved up and down obscenely slow. Nanami gasped somewhat sharply, aching tip drooling out a fat drop of precum.
"W-what else could you possibly do now, you fiend?"
"Oh, I think you know," he muttered breathily, the sound of a belt unbuckling following shortly after.
Flowers You Can Breathe Around
Bakugou Katsuki x reader (fluff?)
Bakugou starts leaving you flowers sometime in second year, and because heâs Bakugou, he does it in the most intense, emotionally-stunted way imaginable. He never hands them to you gently or explains himself; instead, he shoved the bouquet into your arms like heâs passing you a live grenade, mutters a gruff âTake itâ, and storms away before you can get a single word out.Â
It happens every two weeks. Heâs refreshing your flowers. Placing the bouquet on your desk before class, in your hands during breaks, once even tossed into your lap while you were mid-lunch. And every time, his ears turn just the slightest bit red, like he knows exactly what heâs doing and hates that heâs doing it.
The problem though? Youâre allergic to the flowers he picks. Not deathly allergic, but enough to make your eyes water and your nose itch until half the class thinks youâre crying over algebra.
Too Close To The Sun
yandere!Mirio x reader an: I might make a longer version of this..
They told you it was for your own good.
Your quirk â Icarus â was beautiful in theory. Flight, clean and effortless, wings of heat shimmering beneath your skin.Â
But beauty always comes at a cost.Â
In your case it costs an obsessive blonde himbo to be locked to your hip day and night.
It wasnât always like this though. No, it only started when you enrolled at UA and started to realise what it would mean to use your quirk full time. Too much exertion, too much warmth, and the sky really is the limit. One day during training, you had pushed yourself too hard and flown too high which had caused you to overheat. You had plummeted to the ground that day but instead of death (which would have been better looking back), you were transported into this hell hole.Â

At The Same Time
PART 6 AND MY FAVOURITE. (bakugu fic 'this is not a crush' Chapters: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5
The hallway outside the results board was packed. Students crowded shoulder-to-shoulder, buzzing with nerves, frustration, victory, whatever came with another brutal round of midterms. Paper rustled. People whispered. Someone shouted in triumph. You took a slow breath and stepped forward, clutching your notebook to your chest. Through the bodies, you caught a glimpse of your name on the list.
Rank: 4th.Top five.
Your heart stopped, then lifted all at once. You didnât scream. You didnât jump. You just inhaled sharply and felt your vision blur for half a second. Holy carp. I actually did it.Â
You stepped back, one hand covering your mouth, the other trembling just slightly. You wanted to laugh, or cry, or both, but settled for a tiny, breathless grinâ âright as someone on the other side of the crowd said: âHoly SHITâ 4th place?! Oi, move.â
Of course. Of course it was him.
Bakugou Katsuki shoved past the last group standing in his way, eyes laser-focused on the hero course ranking printed beside yours, His gaze swept down the list, sharp, impatient. Stopped. Rank: 1st. Again.
His shoulders dropped half an inch. Relief. Vindication. Pride. You watched the tiny exhale leave him, the way tension in his jaw loosened, the faint â very faint â tilt of satisfaction at the corner of his mouth.Â
Without thinking, you whispered under your breath, âGood jobâŚâ
Right at the same timeâ
He muttered, âNot badâŚâ
Both of you blinked. Both of you froze. Both turned your heads at the exact same second.
Your eyes met through the scattered groups of students. Both of you were smiling. Not full smiles â half ones. Real ones. Quiet ones.Â
And thenâ
You both realised the other was smiling.
Your faces went red instantly. You choked on a tiny laugh. He nearly combusted on the spot.
Bakugou snapped his head away so fast it was almost comedic. You clapped a hand over your mouth to hide how flustered you were.
It didnât help.
You could feel your cheeks burning.Â
You both realised the other was smiling.
And you could feel his eyes flick back toward you, once, twice, like he couldnât stop. âTch.â
The sound was low, embarrassed, irritated at nothing and everything â including himself.
A faint crackle came from his palm.
Not rage. Just⌠heat. The kind that came from an emotion he didnât know how to hold.Â
He glared at his own hand as it sizzled lightly. âCut it out,â he muttered under his breath, like his quirk was personally betraying him.
You peeked over your notebook, unsure if you were supposed to say something. Complement him? Thank him? Run away?
Before you could decide, Bakugou caught your expression â the wide eyes, the silence, the stunned restraint like you were afraid of reacting wrong around him.
And heâŚ
Laughed.
It wasnât loud. It wasnât wild.
It wasnât sharp or mocking.
It was a short, quiet, surprised huff of air â barely a sound, really â but warm. Real. Disarming.Â
You froze.Â
Because Bakugou Katsuki did not laugh.Â
Not in hallways.
Not in public.
Not with you.Â
He saw your stunned silence and immediately regretted everything.
His brain went into overdrive.
Why isnât she saying anything?
Was that stupid? Fuck, that was stupid.
Whyâd I laugh? Sheâs gonna think Iâm weird â no, weakâ no, BOTHâ
It wasnât even a laugh, it was just a breath, it wasnât a fucking LAUGHâ
âOi.â He snapped without even thinking.
You straightened instinctively. âY-yeah?â
âDonât look at me like that.â âLike what?â
He scowled harder, face heating again.Â
âLike I did somethinâ funny.â
You stared at him for a heartbeat. Then another.
â...Katsuki,â you said softly, âyou laughed.â
His soul left his body. âI didnâtâ! It wasnâtâ! Shut up.â
You tried â you really tried â not to smile.Â
But a giggle escaped before you could stop it.Â
He blinked.
Not angry.
Just startled.
Almost.. Confused.
You stepped toward him, holding your notebook to your chest. âCongrats on first place,â you said gently. It wasnât teasing.
It wasnât sarcastic.
It was sincere.
His chest tightened unexpectedly.
â...Hmph.âÂ
He looked away again, but this time, the corner of his mouth twitched upward.Â
Barely.Â
âAnd⌠congrats on fourth,â he muttered, voice lower than before, rougher but not unkind.
Your eyes widened.
You didnât think he even read your score.
He noticed your surprise and clicked his tongue once, looking irritated with himself.Â
âI saw it by accident. Donât make it weird.â
But his voice had softened â so subtly you almost missed it.
You didnât miss it.Â
âNot making it weird,â you whispered, smiling again. âJust⌠thank you.â
His ears turned red.
His hands sparked faintly again.
And for once⌠he didnât walk away.Â
He just stood there with your in the warm, noisy hallway, two people who definitely werenât celebrating togetherâ âbut at the same time⌠you kind of were.
And as the heat got to his head, his heart rate spiked as he stared into your eyes.Â
His heart beat quickened, and then suddenly it seemed as if you were getting closer, and his thoughts were getting faster, and he had the worst instincts toâ
But then you touched him.Â
Because you had actually gotten close.Â
Your chest was close enough to brush against his slightly, you looked up at him, your beautiful face illuminated by the lights as everything hit him all at once.Â
âKatsuki..?â Your murmured, making sure he was okay, he seemed so out of itâ
Your voice snapped him back, and he let out a breath he hadnât realised he was holding.Â
As he got his senses back, he realised that he was meant to yell at you for this. His face flushed, realising he didnât have it in him.Â
GODDAMNIT, BAKUGOU. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, MAN.Â
YELL AT HER. Oh, don't blush idiotâ hey! Whyâs her chest so closeâ
Commands flooded his system, regaining his persona. âHey, nerd, a bit too close, hm? Why so close?âÂ
âOh.â You took a little shuffle back. âI just wanted to make sure others couldnât hear me because I⌠KatsukiâŚâ Was this it? Was he going to hear what he both dreaded and wanted and didn't even know what he was waiting for to come spilling out of your lips?
âCan you tutor me? Youâre better, clearly, and it would be useful to have firsthand knowledge on quirks since youâre exposed to a variety all day long.â
Of course. What the hell else was he waiting for?
Bakugouâs chest puffed out.
âTch. Donât go making demands, nerd. But I guess I can clear some time for you.â He grumbled, but didnât mean it.
âThat didnât sound like an insult"
PART 5 OF MY BAKUGOU FIC 'this is not a crush' CHAPTERS 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 authors note: my friend said to try POV's, not sure if i like how chunky it feels, i want it flow
Your POV You were getting used to the sound of his chair scraping across the floor.
It wasnât a gentle sound. It wasnât ever going to be. Bakugou Katsuki didnât enter a room â he invaded the space, disrupted the air, and forced it to bend around him. Even in a silent library, he somehow managed to be loud without speaking.
But today, something was different.
He sat down across from you again â not next to you, never with you, just across, like the table was a neutral zone neither of you acknowledged out loud â except this time, he didnât glare first. He didnât scoff. He didnât even act like you were in the way. He just⌠sat.Â
Pulled out his notebook.
Grumbled at his pen like it personally offended him.
And you noticed, with a quiet kind of amusement: he didnât even pretend to look for another seat anymore. So you kept writing, pretending not to notice him settling in like this was normal now, even though a tiny, smug part of you knew it wasnât. Not for him.Â
Eventually, you broke the silence the same way you always did â gently. âSo,â you said, tapping your pen, eyes still on your textbook, âwhat are you reviewing today?â
He tensed. Barely, just enough, âYou donât gotta know what Iâm doing.â
âThatâs funny,â you hummed, flipping a page. âBecause I feel like if you didnât want me to know, you wouldnât keep sitting here every day.â
He froze, the kind of stillness that meant youâd hit something he hadnât prepared to defend. He didnât know the answer.Â
Which, from Bakugou, was almost a confession.Â
Bakugouâs POV Stupid.
It was stupid that he was here again.
He could be blasting through notes in his room. He could be training. He could be proving he was ahead of Deku and the rest of those extras.
Instead, he was here. In this dusty-ass corner of the library. At the same dumb table. Across from the same girl who wouldnât shut up about quirk medicine and cellular reconstruction and whatever-the-hell else she was scribbling about today.Â
He told himself it was quiet here.
He told himself it was strategic.
He told himself it had nothing to do with you.Â
And then his brain did that annoying, traitorous echo: So why are you in her seat again?
âTch.â
He hated the thought. He hated thinking at all, actually. Feelings were useless. They just got in the way of winning.
Yet there he was, sitting across from you again like he didnât spend half the night telling himself he wouldnât.
And what pissed him off most?
The second he sat down, he felt⌠calmer. Like the noise in his head got quieter just because you were here. Focused. Breathing. Existing.
He didnât want that to matter. So when you spoke again â âWhat are you studying for today?â â he didnât look up.
âYou donât gotta know what Iâm doing.â
But you didnât flinch. You never did. You just said, âPretty sure that wasnât a no.â
And now he was pissed at himself, because he heard the comeback in his head before he said it: Damn nerdâs starting to sound like she knows me. Â
Except â he didnât say it.
Because he was busy noticing something else.Â
You were mumbling while you worked. Note useless or random stuff â actually smart shit. Stuff he never wouldâve bothered with, but the way you were connecting it out loud made it⌠weirdly interesting.
â...if sweat glands carry quirk factors, then it explains combustion varianceââ
He blinked.
When the hell had he started listening to your voice like it was background music?
He glanced up.
You werenât even looking at him.
You were just focused â completely absorbed in what you were writing.
He hated that it made him respect you.
Heâd never say it.
But he felt it.Â
Your POV You noticed him watching you.Â
Not glaring. Not scoffing. Just⌠watching.
It wasnât hostile. It wasnât even annoyed. It was curious.Â
So you took a chance: âHey, Bakugou,â you said, still writing, âcan I ask something about your quirk?â
He stiffened. Like asking was a trap. âWhy?â
âResearch,â you shrugged. âBut alsoââ
You looked up, met his stare. ââI just wanna understand it better. Youâre kind of the only person with a quirk that relies on sweat glands and is also combat based. Itâs interesting.â
Silence.
Then: âInteresting?â He stared at you like youâd dropped a bomb he wasnât ready to disarm.
And then, his mouth moved before the logic centre on his brain caught up: âAre you trying to piss me off? You donât gotta know about me âI gotta know about you.â The second the words left him, he realised what heâd said.
Because that soundedâŚ
Not hostile.
Not like rejection.
Like he was keeping score. Like he wanted to know you.Â
You blinked. Then laughed â softly, not mockingly.Â
âNo. But if you gotta know me, then let me know you. Why so mad, explosion boy? I thought heroes were about fairness?â
That was the moment everything in him stopped.
Like youâd pressed pause on his whole damned nervous system.Â
He stared. Brows furrowing like he was trying to fix the feelings by scowling harder.
Then he muttered, low: âNot mad, nerd. Learn emotional IQ instead of your books and then come back to me, tch.â
But this time⌠You heard it. And he heard it too.
It didnât sound like an insult.Â
His face twitched â the smallest flicker of panic â because heâd noticed the softness in his own voice before anyone else did.Â
He looked away fast.
You didnât push it.
You just smiled to yourself, like youâd found a hidden page in a book he didnât know you were reading.
And the strangest thing happened.
He didnât leave.
Not after you caught him being human.
He stayed.
And he studied.
And somehow, the silence between you wasnât silence anymore.
It was comfortable.
Bakugouâs POV He hated the way you laughed.
Not because it was annoying. But because it wasnât. It was soft. Real. Like someone laughing because they genuinely liked the moment. And it made something in his chest feel wired wrong.
He packed his notebook. Didnât look at you. Didnât trust his face. And yetâ When he stood, the word came out before he could block it: â...Later, nerd.â
Not spat. Not hissed. A goodbye.
He heard it. You heard it. And the library felt different after that.
He walked out fast. Too fast. Like if he stayed, he might say one more thing he couldnât take back.
And when he hit the hallway, he muttered under his breath:
âWhat the hell is wrong with me?â
But he already knew the answer.
You.
Your POV Did I piss him off?
As he left the changed library, having affected the atmosphere and not caring at all because he was Bakugou Katsuki and did what he wanted, you were left to wonder if he meant he was going away forever.
It sure sounded like he wasâŚ
But if that was the case, you already knew you were cooked.Â
Youâve grown fond of him, his snarky remarks and insecurities youâve caused that lead him to stutter and flee.Â
But most importantly, you already knew you liked him. You didnât want to scare him away like the others.
I wasnât helping. You were just wrong.
PART 4 OF MY BAKUGOU FIC 'this is not a crush'
Bakugou had gotten good at pretending he didnât notice you. Or at least, thatâs what he told himself. He didnât notice the way you chewed on the corner of your pen when you were concentrating. He didnât notice the way you mouthed terms silently to memorise them. He definitely didnât notice when you pulled your sleeves over your hands when the libraryâs air conditioning kicked on and you shivered a little.Â
None of that mattered. None of it had anything to do with him. Â
So when your handwriting slowed and your expression shifted from focused to frustrated, he wasnât looking. He wasnât paying attention. He was staring straight at his own paper, completely focused, absolutely not tracking the way your breathing stuttered the same way it always did when you were stuck on something. You flipped back and forth between two pages of your textbook, muttering under your breath. âNo, that doesnât make sense â wait, but this is the primary reaction, then whyââ
Bakugouâs pen paused. Not because he cared, because the noise was distracting. That was all. He waited for you to figure it out. You didnât.
You kept flipping the same two pages. Over and over. Like a hamster on a mental wheel. Bakugouâs eye twitched. Finally, he snapped. âOi. Youâre doing it wrong.â You froze. â...Excuse me?â
He didnât even look up. He just pointed at your notebook â from memory, because yes, heâd been glancing at your notes without meaning to. âThat diagram youâre staring at like itâs speaking Greek? Itâs not measuring pressure, itâs measuring stress decay. Thatâs why the values drop instead of spike. Youâre reading it backwards.â
You blinked. Slowly. Like you were processing not the information, but the fact that he had spoken to you. And then you looked down â really looked â and your eyes widened. âOh. Oh wait â holy crap, youâre right. Iâve been trying to calculate the wrong response time.â âObviously.â He crossed his arms. âAnyone with a brain could see that.â
You just grinned. And Bakugou felt something in his chest jolt â something stupid and warm and unwelcome.
âWell, thank you, Bakugou,â you said, and there was something annoyingly sincere in your voice. âI didnât think you were even paying attention.â
âI wasnât,â he snapped instantly, too fast, too defensive. âI just got sick of hearing you breathe like you were dying.â
You raised a brow. âWow. So kind.â
âTch.â He went back to his notes. âDonât get used to it.â
You didnât reply this time. Just kept writing, softer now, a little smile still tugging at your lips. And Bakugou could feel it, even without looking â that shift in the air. The quiet acknowledgement. The unspoken I know you care more than you pretend you do. He didnât like it.Â
He didn't like how light the silence felt now. He didnât like how easy it was to stay sitting there. He didnât like how the library wasnât suffocating anymore. So, naturally, his brain reacted the only way it knew how: tch. fucking idiot. shouldnât have said anything. now she thinks youâre nice. youâre not nice.Â
But then you did something that absolutely demolished him, You tore a tiny scrap off your notebook paper, wrote something on it, and pushed it toward him without a word. He stared at it like it was a bomb (which, technically, it kind of way). âExplosive trauma cellular response = same as your quirkâs aftershock pattern?ââI get it now. Thanks.âAt the bottom, in smaller writing: not trying to annoy you. just trying to learn. :3
He stared at the paper for a full ten seconds. Then another five, Then he crumpled it.Â
He shoved it into his bag instead of throwing it away.He hated that he noticed it crinkled like a kept thing.
âtch. I was just asking.â
CHAPTER 3 OF MY BAKUGOU FIC 'this is not a crush.'
Bakugou didnât mean to speak. Heâd been doing a great job pretending he wasnât paying attention to you for the last three days. He kept his eyes on his own notes, only glanced up when absolutely necessary (which was totally not because he caught himself checking if you were there), and didnât say a single word more than necessary.Â
Sure he sat at the same table now. Sure, his stuff somehow spread closer to your side each day. Sure, heâd gotten used to the exact rhythm of your pen strokes and the way you uttered formulas under your breath when you were stuck. But that didnât mean anything. It definitely didnât mean he was interested. So when the silence stretched on and all he could hear was the faint scratch of your pencil and the soft rustle of pages, he told himself the irritation building in his chest was just⌠noise. Background noise. Nothing more.Â
He wasnât staring. He wasnât curious. He definitely wasnât wondering why you looked like you were fighting the textbook instead of reading it. He was doing just fine.
Until the worlds slipped out before he could stop them: âWhat the hell are you even studying for?â
You blinked, slowly looking up like you were sure he wasnât talking to you. âMe..?â
âNo, the fucking ghost behind you,â he snapped, even though there was clearly no one else there. âYes, you. Obviously you. Iâm not talking to the damn furniture.â He kept his annoyed, confident air even though he was rambling. WHY THE HELL AM I YAPPING?
You raised a brow, unfazed. âWow. And here I thought we were enjoying the silence.â
âYeah, wellââ he clicked his tongue, annoyed at himself for talking first. âYou look like youâre trying to murder the pages. Is that supposed to be productive or what?â
You paused. Then â instead of getting defensive â you laughed. Quiet, soft, like you didnât expect it either. âUs, itâs quirk physiology,â you said, finally answering. âSpecifically cellular strain responses and regeneration patterns in mutation-type quirks.â
Bakugou stared at you for a long moment. Not because he didnât understand â he understood more science than people assumed â but because he wasnât expecting you to answer so⌠normally. No rambling. No bragging. Just the facts. Then he muttered, âThatâs pretty advanced for general studies.â
You didnât flinch at the wording. Didnât argue. You just nodded and kept talking. âWell, yeah. You hero course people train physically â but the battlefield needs support and medical staff who understand quirks as biology, not just power. Plus Iâm hoping I can apply to the support labs next year. They donât take people who only know surface-level stuff.â
He didnât respond right away. Because something in that answer hit him in a place he didnât have armour for. You werenât studying because it was assigned. You werenât studying because someone told you to. You were studying because you chose to. Because you wanted to do something with it. Because you werenât sitting around in the background of the hero course like every other âextraâ heâd ever written off. Â
You had plans. Drive. Purpose. It irritated him how much he respected that. â...Huh,â he said â the closest thing to a compliment he was capable of without combusting. âAnd here I thought you were just wasting time in here for fun.â
You smirked. âSays the guy who keeps showing up and hasnât denied liking the silence.â
His jaw flexed. âTch. Donât get cocky. I just need a quiet place to study, thatâs all. Little place back here behind the shelves âas got the best wifi.â
âMhm. Sure.â You went back to your notes.
He watched you for a second â just a second â then forced his eyes down, flipping his own page a little too aggressively.
But the silence wasnât heavy now. It wasnât even awkward. It felt⌠mutual. And Katsuki Bakugou hated how much his brain noticed that. He grumbled under his breath, picked up his pen, and tried not to think about the way heâd asked you a question on purpose. Tried even harder not to think about the fact he was still listening for your pencil strokes to start up again.
