An exclusive report on July 6th claims that former Tropikal member Jeong Yijeong (20) plans on re-debuting this year. Yijeong who parted ways with his former group and label (BPM Entertainment) earlier this year, has signed with new label ‘Harmony Media’ a few weeks ago. It appears that Harmony Media has planned on re-debuting Yijeong this year.

Recently Tropikal’s Yijeong teamed up with Dazed Magazine for their November issue. Along with a few charming pictorials, Yijeong also sat down for a short interview with the magazine. Talking about his future solo plans and his group’s plans and what his relationship with his fellow group members is actually like. Read more about this interview down below!

Can you tell us something about Tropikal’s future plans? ‘There’s a lot we’ve been thinking of and working on but it’s a bit hard for me to reveal that. Because nothing is set in stone yet. But it’s been a year since we debuted and we have not had a comeback yet so maybe it’ll be something related to that? I can’t say much more.. ㅋㅋㅋ’ 

What about solo plans? What are some of your schedules for the rest of the year.  ‘Personally, I want to focus more on being with my members. I’ve been getting a lot of opportunities to do things on my own but I would like to hang out with my members and try things with them first before I even think of doing any major projects on my own.’

How close are you actually to your members? And who do you consider yourself the closest to and why? ‘We’re all actually pretty close, I think it comes naturally because we spend every single day together. I think among my members, I’m closed to my roommates because we share a room and we’re all the same ages which makes it a little easier. I share a bunkbed with Joey and we hang out a lot. Taehyun has the other bunk. I think I talk to Taehyun and Joey the most!’

Do you have anything you would like to try out?  ‘In terms of musically wise, I would like to try out many different genres. Listening to our debut song makes me feel so proud, I can’t wait for us to write and release more songs and figure out what that feels like! I also really want to try learning dance for more genre’s as well.’

TROPIKAL RELEASES LIMITED EDITION ANNIVERSARY BOX IN LIGHT OF 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY.

Ahead of their 1 year anniversary, 7 member group Tropikal’s official website was updated with special merchandise to celebrate the anniversary of Tropikal and Areka together! The box is labeled as ‘Anniversary Box’ and is a limited edition box that includes various merchandise and gifts available for only a limited edition.

FORMER CLASSMATE OF YIJEONG ADMITS TO MAKING UP BULLYING RUMOURS + TO SETTLE OUTSIDE OF COURT

Roughly a few weeks ago, Tropikal’s Jeong Yijeong became a hot topic after a former classmate of his posted screenshots in which she revealed his supposed controversial past. Sharing screenshots of herself talking to a friend via chat, she explained that he had been bullying other classmates and that he did a lot of underage smoking and drinking. Yijeong’s agency BPM announced they would be taking legal actions against the girl for spreading false rumours and tarnishing his image. Today, his classmate officially admitted to making up the malicious rumours with a statement.

After going through a long and rather public dispute, Yijeong seems to finally have come out of the tunnel as his former classmate admits to lying about her statements. She posted a rather long message on all her social media to apologize for her lies and to apologize to Yijeong for making up such rumours. She stated she did not intend for it to get this big, but rather got caught up in lies. Former classmates and teachers of Yijeong also released public statements saying that none of those rumours were true. Fans also took notice of the fact she was unable to provide actual evidence for this other than her own words.

Her public statement read: ‘Hello. Recently I did a really bad thing. I made up a story to entertain and out of a place of anger and jealousy. I hurt a lot of people and especially the person these rumours were crafted around. My intentions were never for it to get this big, I wanted to share an interesting story regardless of whether it was true or not but hurt a lot of people in the process. I give my sincere apologies and fully admit to making up all these stories. I want to apologize to Jeong Yijeong in specific. I hope to do better.’

With this, it seems that most of it has gotten settled as she admitted to lying about the rumours and made a public apology, clearing Yijeong of the bad name he was given. But netizen have shared opinions about the story. Fans stating that they feel she should be punished by law, finding her apology insincere and considering it a way of saving herself. Mentioning that it caused Yijeong emotional distress as seen during his recent fansigning event. Other netizen claim it seems like she was blackmailed into making these statements.

In the end, most seem to side with Yijeong’s side. With the lack of evidence against him other than her own words and the multiple former classmates and teachers stepping out to defend it. It hardly seems like her words were the truth. But what do you think about the matter?

With the group’s one year anniversary in sight on November 10th, and their recent announcement of their official fandom colors and fandom name, it seems that they want to complete the concept with the addition of their last item. Their lightstick. The group announced the official release of their 'Thunder Bong’ with an update on their website.

TROPIKAL’S YIJEONG SHEDS TEARS DURING FANMEETING AFTER RECENT CONTROVERSIES

Recently Yijeong has become a hot topic for his past behavior after a former classmate decided to post screenshots of her conversation ‘exposing’ him for bullying classmates, cursing and smoking before his debut. Below Pulse Media recently announced they will be taking legal actions against those spreading false rumours. 

Today, during Tropikal’s fanmeeting, Yijeong first spoke up about the controversies surrounding his past behavior. Yijeong also was spotted shedding tears after apologizing to fans during their performance and seemed to be quiet throughout most of the fanmeeting. Some even filmed the incident and shared their anger regarding the, what they call ‘false rumours’. The member had brought a handwritten letter which he read to fans: 

‘Hello, this is Jeong Yijeong. Recently there have been a lot of words going around about me, words that aren’t pretty. When I first heard about this, I was shocked and wanted to answer right away. I wanted to settle everything and assure my place in Tropikal and with Areka. But I realized that that would’ve been the wrong decision to make. I decided to take time, reflecting on what happened. I want to apologize to everyone that has gotten upset over these words and I want to thank but also apologize to those that have defended me. I will work to become better in the future, to not bring any more negativity towards Tropikal and Areka. I want to thank Areka for being by my side and I promise to do better.’ 

TROPIKAL’S YIJEONG UNDER FIRE FOR SUPPOSEDLY BULLYING A FORMER CLASSMATE

Recently member of Tropikal Yijeong became a hot topic again after a former classmate released texts talking about his troubling past with a friend. Mentioning Yijeong cursed out a girl in private messages, threatened to hit a girl and even smoked. 

The girl who claims to have been a former classmate of Yijeong took to twitter where she posted screenshots of her conversations about him on twitter, stating that she had kept quiet for long enough and could not understand why Yijeong (who has recently been receiving positive attention for his friendly character) was doing so well. She posted screenshots with the following conversation: 

Person 1: To talk about me, I think it'll take too long. I'll let you know after my class. All of his close friends already know about his character and acknowledged it. Person 2: Okay thank you. Let me know when you're comfortable. Person 1: And he fought a girl 1 one 1. Person 2: Hul, with a girl? Person 1: In a private chat, apparently there were talks of him telling the girl, "Just go sell your body, you b*tch." He also used to smoke in middle school. Person 2: But by looking at his age, he's a high school student. I guess he wasn't a trainee back in middle school? Person 1: Yes, he probably went to audtions in his last year of middle school. Person 1: So at first, I ignored him but he asked me again if I was dating that guy again. So when I told him it was none of his business, he suddenly said, "B*tch, are you crazy? Do you want to get hit?". He was yelling as if he was going to hit me which led to other students holding him back. Person 2: Hul his character...

After those tweets went viral, Yijeong began receiving a lot of backlash but also a lot of support. Some netizen stating that these screenshots seemed edited and unlike his character, also pointing out that there has been no actual proof regarding her statements other than her talking about it to friends. Other netizen joining her side and saying his character seemed fake from the beginning. The former classmate later added more screenshots talking about how he would often curse out fellow classmates and would get into fistfights a lot, but she later deleted these tweets as well as the original screenshots.

After nearly a year, Tropikal and Mount Records finally revealed the group’s official fandom colors and official fandom name! With the color names ‘Dark Jungle’ and ‘Sea Foam’ they give off a vibrant yet mysterious vibe. But that’s not all! The group also announced their official fandom name.. ‘Areka’. The word is a play on ‘Areca’ which is a genus of different tropical species of palms, also representing the different types of people who are able to come together and enjoy Tropikal’s music as one unit! Of course the fandom name would not be complete without the addition of their known ‘K’ making up the name ‘Areka’.
