Oooo, interesting! That's a very loaded question on a number of beats! Alright, quick spoiler alert for some things concerning Wyld's backstory from my fic "Go To Heaven for the View".

Addressing the elephant in the room first, Wyld has no idea what a 'big brother' is supposed to feel like/do. He was an only child in a really rough family, growing up in a really rough place. The only person he ever felt was on 'his side' truly was Striker, and they didn't consider each other 'brothers'. They were always 'partners'. He knows what it's like to be admired (though he's pretty bashful about complements because when one's best friend is the roughest toughest bastard in Wrath, you get very used to those words being directed elsewhere). But he's not used to being adored the same way Drift looks at him.

Being anyone's friend is pretty foreign to him. He's only really had one best friend his whole life. There has been others he's liked, for sure, but nothing quite like what he has with Striker and now Drift. He's pretty sure that's what family is supposed to feel like, but it doesn't make it any less strange to him. But Wyld is about as 'ride or die' as it gets for the people he cares about, so he's always going to be in Drift's corner, a job he takes very, very seriously.

That also said, Wyld is keenly aware that he's...probably not the best person for someone to model themselves on, even for Hell. He's a no good bastard, and he accepts that. He doesn't really want Drift to follow in his example, but that doesn't stop Drift from taking after him quite a bit and taking the things he says to particular heart. While Wyld doesn't really care for the 'hero worship' aspect of it, he doesn't exactly go about changing his behavior to set a better example, haha. He doesn't see the good things that Drift takes away from him either, and he'd be even less likely to understand that's where he picked it up from.

For example, Drift's courage, what little he has of it, all comes from Wyld. Much of the reason Drift attributes to why he's in Hell has to do with cowardice and selfishness, in that he chose to run. He's been in Hell long enough to know its easiest, and usually safest, to run. But Wyld digs his heels in, especially for the people he cares about. Including Drift. So, that's something Drift takes to heart, trying to be brave even when he's terrified. Trying to be there for the people he loves and who love him. Because Wyld wouldn't budge if it was him standing there.

So, in short, Wyld is pretty well aware that this whole thing is not his strong suit. He doesn't want to be a role model. He's a prickly pear on a good day. He doesn't even quite know what 'family' is supposed to be. He's completely blind to the good he has to offer. He is stupidly unequipped to be a 'big brother'. But he also knows that Drift's mind is made up, that he's been picked for some reason he doesn't think he deserves. And he wouldn't have it any other way.

(And nobody ever gets to lay a hand on his little brother)
