I don't believe (?) I've properly brought this up on here before which. #MyBad but one of the major reasons why Tobias does so many impulsive things without seemingly caring about their risk level is because before he's decided to do something, he's already calculated precisely how it'll go. And I don't mean through vibes, instincts or assumptions, even though they can also play a part depending on the respective circumstances at hand. I mean through actual mathematical equations (i.e calculating distance, time, speed, velocity, reflex/reaction time, angles etc) which are occurring 24/7 inside his head and they're primarily why he's as comfortable as he is doing half of the life-threatening bullshit he does. Another reason is obviously his aspd which renders him unable to feel fear & thus unlikely to care about the off-chance of his calculations going wrong as much as a neurotypical person would, and the third is sheer confidence in his own self's abilities based on his prior experiences.
While Tobias is most certainly a thrill-seeker, he's not AS dementedly reckless as he appears to be to others. There are definitely cases in which he opts to go with a #freestyle / #fuckit mentality (<-these mostly tend to happen if he's dreadfully bored & couldn't care less whether he lives or dies since either outcome is perceived as dull) but generally speaking he always has the future mapped by the time he's chosen to do anything of note. Some of you might have noticed that Tobias is The Starer in pretty much every interaction I've written for him and that's because he perpetually 1) assesses the threat level (of a situation / person / creature / etc), 2) (in case of intelligent creatures) psychoanalyzes them, 3) takes note of their micro-expressions & body language, 4) based on the data gathered from 1-3 infers the best strategies available, 5) scientifically calculates every known variable required for those plans to succeed & accounts for potential unknown variables, 6) assesses each strategy's risk level & possible consequences, 7) ends up going with the one he prefers based on the balance between the plan's entertainment value, risk value and likelihood of it causing a major injury or death. Normally all of this happens within ~10 seconds or less.
❝ You don't say. ❞ A smidgen too swift of a retaliation, yet Tobias' expression follows up on it by purposefully morphing into one of ingenuous disbelief, the sort that guileless, law-upholding, model citizens have a track record of parading around as soon as their lofty bubbles of privilege threaten to pop directly into their faces. ❝ Sounds almost as if... a man of the law can't lay out the law when it matters...? ❞ Why, he is this close to feigning trembling. And he just might, given the manner in which people's naivety (or is it their egotism? likely a case-by-case variation) disgusts him so. It would be a rather realistic depiction, he imagines. ❝ Shiver me timbers, what a frightful world that'd be! Good thing that's definitely not the case in our respectable society. Really dodged a bullet there. ❞
You see on one hand Tobias has such an innate and specific charisma that I doubt any impostor could ever exude the same vibe as him but on the other hand who ever knows with his fuckass life especially on a surface level
