online numbers can really fuck you up when it comes to your creative work because you're sharing something you worked on with all your heart but it's very important to remember there's actual people behind those numbers. even if it's 1. that's one whole actual person. that's a human being who said "haha nice". that's a connection with a REAL person with a REAL life and REAL thoughts and feelings and experiences. like. damn. that should mean something
Are you on ao3? love your writing btw🫶🏻
Awww thank you for your kind words 🥹 yes I’m on AO3 with the same name, yaravella !

Part VIII
Part IX - Fight the Night
---
The ballroom glowed under glamorous lighting, filled with the smooth hum of jazz, hollow laughter, and meaningless conversations.
To Satoru, it was all a waste of time and money. He had participated in a few obligatory chats —as the heir of the Gojo clan and the strongest sorcerer alive, it was expected. The Six Eyes made him the natural center of attention. He usually enjoyed how these people scrambled to get on his good side, though. But tonight, even he had his limit.
He slipped away from the crowd and stepped onto the quiet hotel balcony, letting the vast, glittering lights of Tokyo stretch out before him.
Then he clicked his tongue.
He felt a faint trace of cursed energy approaching, followed by soft footsteps.
Now, who dared to disturb him?
"Satoru."
He turned, eyebrows lifting in mild surprise when he saw you standing there, holding a plate with a slice of strawberry shortcake.
"It's you."
You smiled sheepishly and lifted the plate slightly, as if the reason for your presence was obvious. It was a familiar scene. At events like this, your mother would usually send you over with drinks or desserts to approach him. It used to annoy him. Greatly. But lately... it didn't bother him as much.
"She's watching you, right?" he asked.
You nodded quietly, clearly hoping he would just take the cake so you could leave like always.
But tonight, Satoru had other plans.
"Feed it to me."
Your eyebrow rose in surprise. He kept the fake smile on his face but hissed under his breath.
"Quickly."
Still hesitant and visibly confused, you cut a small piece of the cake and brought the spoon to his lips.
Satoru leaned in and took the bite playfully.
"Mm... this actually tastes good," he said, eyes glinting with amusement. "Have you tried it?"
"No, I haven't—"
Before you could finish, Satoru took the spoon from your hand, scooped a piece of cake, and brought it straight to your mouth. Your eyes widened in shock, but you instinctively opened your lips. He smirked, clearly amused by your flustered reaction.
"Good girl," he said with a playful beam.
A second later, the words seemed to register, and his brows furrowed. What the fuck was that?
Thankfully, you didn't seem to notice. You were too busy chewing and nervously glancing over your shoulder.
"Even my mom would be suspicious of your sudden change," you said, setting the plate down on the balcony railing.
Satoru leaned against the rail beside you, taking another spoonful of cake. "She looked ecstatic. Practically ran off to tell the other moms."
You stayed quiet for a moment, clearly waiting for the right chance to slip away like you usually did. Sensing that, Satoru didn't give you the opportunity.
"You know this party is a waste of time, right?" he asked, launching into conversation. "Why do we still come to these things anyway?"
He knew you well enough now—ever since you started spending time with his friends— that you wouldn't leave mid-conversation. You'd stay and listen, offering soft hums and small replies even when he was being annoying. He wondered if it was something you'd been conditioned to do. After all, he was your fiancé.
"Hmm, yeah," you replied dully.Â
Satoru chuckled at the predictable response.
You tilted your head, confused. "What?"
He shook his head and turned to lean back against the railing, sliding his glasses up into his hair, then gazing at the night sky, one hand loosely gripping the metal.Â
Satoru glanced at you, catching your eyes flit to the bruises on his knuckles and forearm from his last mission. He even forgot he had that.Â
"Stupid Shoko forgot to heal me," he complained dramatically. "I swear she favors Suguru more than me. Everyone does. Why is that?"
You stared at his hand for a moment.
"May I?" you asked softly, pointing at the bruises.
Satoru raised an eyebrow. "What?"
You didn't explain. Instead, you gently took his hand in yours. He watched in amusement as you examined it with serious focus. What are you going to do anyway?Â
Then he felt it — a warm, steady surge of cursed energy flowing from your hand into his. It was gentle, almost soothing, like sunlight spreading under his skin. His heartbeat picked up, fast yet strangely steady, a thrilling rush he couldn't quite place. His blood felt warmer as he stared at your calm, focused expression, the soft concentration in your eyes, the way your lashes caught the balcony lights.
The bruises on his hand slowly faded, the skin knitting itself back together under your touch. Satoru's eyes widened slightly.
He should have been focused on the fact that you were using Reverse Cursed Technique — something he never expected from you. Instead, all he could really register was how small and warm your hand felt against his, how close you were standing, and how nice you smelled.
For a moment, the loud party, the political games, and even the glittering Tokyo skyline disappeared. There was only you.
You finally pulled your hand away, but the warmth from your touch lingered on his skin longer than it should have.
Satoru blinked, trying to shake off the strange flutter in his chest.
"...Not bad," he muttered, voice quieter than usual. He flexed his now-healed hand, eyes still lingering on you a second too long. "Since when could you do that?"
You gave him a slight, smug smile — the kind that reminded him of the seven-year-old girl who had boldly introduced herself in that ridiculous frilly dress all those years ago.
"Shoko has been teaching me," you replied curtly.
Satoru raised an eyebrow, both confused and impressed. He turned his hand over again, examining it. Not even a scar remained. Perfect. And the cursed energy he had felt from you earlier... it was unlike any Reverse Cursed Technique he had experienced before.
"But how?" he asked, genuinely bewildered. "You didn't even have any cursed energy before. What happened?"
"That's what I thought too," you said. "But Suguru told me my father might have been a high-ranked sorcerer who specialized in support techniques. So he encouraged me to learn from Shoko. Suguru's also been helping me practice a lot, and he—"
You stopped mid-sentence, a soft blush coloring your cheeks.
"Um... yeah. Suguru's been pushing me to learn RCT."
It was the longest he had ever heard you speak. Satoru couldn't help but notice how your voice warmed whenever Suguru's name came up. He sighed in annoyance.Â
Ugh. To be in love.
Satoru had to give the other guy some credits. If it were him, he might never have had any interest in figuring it out. Maybe there was really something about you. Maybe the higher-ups were into something when they decided on this marriage.
"How did you do it, though?" he asked, genuinely interested in your sudden development because not even he mastered the technique. It was too complicated for him. But here you are, barely a sorcerer before and already adept at using it. How?Â
"Hmm... Shoko said to amplify the negative energy with each other to create a positive one. It was kind of confusing to me because I don't really understand how to channel all the energy. But then, I just try to channel the positive energy within me, you know? Like, thinking about happy thoughts? A strong one, like riding the train for the first time, getting compliments when you did something good, or your loved ones..."Â
At that last reason, Satoru noticed your expression turned softer.Â
"That's amazing," he said, voice sharper than he intended. "You're not useless anymore."
The words left his mouth before he could stop them. He immediately cursed himself internally. You didn't react much, but he swore he saw the faintest frown flicker across your face.
He should have just said thank you.
Setting his sunglasses on his face again, he coughed a few times.Â
"How is your relationship with Suguru, anyway?" Satoru asked, steering the conversation toward the one subject he knew you liked.
You shrugged, but a small, soft smile curved your lips. "The usual, I think."
He waited for you to keep talking like you usually did whenever Suguru was mentioned, but you stayed quiet. Strange.
"Does he know we'll have an engagement party on your 17th birthday?"
Your smile faded. You frowned, clearly not thrilled by the reminder. Truthfully, Satoru hadn't thought much about it either until recently.
"I still think this whole thing is ridiculous," he huffed. "Tell you what — when I become the head of the Gojo clan, I'll annul this engagement."
You looked at him skeptically. "Is it really that easy?"
He shrugged. "Should be. What can they do once I'm in charge?"
You hummed softly and turned to lean against the railing beside him, watching the crowd inside the ballroom. "Good luck, then. I'm praying for that, Satoru."
For a moment, both of you stood in silence, gazing at the meaningless chatter and dancing inside.
"We have a mission this week," Satoru said, glancing sideways at you, "and here you are with me instead of your boyfriend."
You gave a small teasing smile. "You're not as bad as you used to be, so it's fine."
Satoru couldn't help but smile back.
"Don't you usually go watch your favorite band at that club Suguru smuggles you into tonight?" he asked.
Your eyes widened in surprise. "How do you know that?"
"Because he used to drag me there every week, duh?" Satoru rolled his eyes. "I still don't get the appeal of that band. But thanks to you, I've finally been freed from it."
"It's good!" you gasped in mock offense.Â
Satoru shook his head. "Nuh-uh. It sounded like someone wailing in the midst of heavy bass. It's a miracle you both found similarity in that."
At that, you just narrowed your eyes at him.Â
"Now that we're both here, I guess Suguru is going alone tonight." You sounded a little sad. Satoru figured Shoko definitely wouldn't be joining him either.
He turned to you fully, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Do you want to get out of here?"
You blinked. "How?"
"I swear your mom would be thrilled if she saw you disappearing with me," he said, wiggling his eyebrows. "I'll send you home. What do you say?"
You hesitated for a second, but then a smile spread across your face as you nodded. Without wasting another moment, Satoru grabbed your hand and pulled you away from the balcony, slipping through the crowd and heading straight toward the parking lot before anyone could stop and trap him in a meaningless conversation.Â
The drive to the club was surprisingly fun. Satoru blasted music you both could agree on (for once), windows down, wind messing up your perfectly done hair. You laughed more freely than you had in a long time as he dramatically sang along off-key on purpose just to annoy you. For a few songs, the weight of the engagement, your mother, and everything else faded away. It was just the two of you, acting like normal teenagers.
When you arrived, Satoru parked and quickly got out, circling to open the passenger door for you. He offered his hand with a playful smirk.
"Shall we, my temporary fiancée?"
You rolled your eyes but took his hand anyway, letting him help you out of the car. He didn't let go as you walked toward the club entrance, your hand seemingly cold in his.Â
The moment you stepped inside, Satoru didn't even realize he had a big grin on his face— until your hand suddenly slipped from his.
He watched as you spotted Suguru's familiar long hair in the crowd and immediately ran toward him. Suguru turned, eyes widening in pleasant surprise before he caught you, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close. You beamed up at him, and Suguru smiled back, gazing at you like you were the only person in the room.
There was a faint, unexpected sting in Satoru's chest.
He doesn't belong here.
"Satoru? What are you guys doing here?" Suguru asked, sheepishly loosening his hold on you once he realized you weren't alone.
Satoru rolled his eyes. "Happy now that I delivered your princess straight to your arms? You owe me one."
The other guy raised his eyebrow, looking at you for a split second before smiling.Â
"I thought you hated this band?" Suguru asked, amused.
"I do. I'm gonna wait at the bar while you two enjoy that terrible music. Anyway, I have to bring her home before midnight, Suguru," Satoru added with mock seriousness.
His eyes shifted to you. You mouthed a silent 'thank you' with a soft, grateful smile. Satoru gave a small nod before turning away.
As he walked toward the bar, he couldn't help glancing back once more. The sight of you and Suguru laughing together, wrapped up in each other's arms. Despite the sudden heaviness in his heart, Satoru smiled.Â
Maybe he should start the process of being the head of his clan.Â

An: Satoru is actually jealous you stole his boyfriend lol Anyway, thank you to you guys who have been reading this far! Writing this has been really fun for me, and I love reading your reactions. The story is approaching the part where The Star Plasma Vessel arc takes place, hehe... I would like to apologise if I might make a mistake in the power system because sometimes the whole cursed technique system confuses me T_TÂ

A thin smoke slipped out of his lips, blurring Suguru's ceiling as he looked up to it.
Suguru thought the whole "shaping you into the perfect bride for Satoru" thing was utterly weird.
What do you mean you had to sit through a lesson called The Six Eyes and Their Impact on the Sorcery World Throughout History this afternoon?
He swore rich people were on another level. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of lessons would be forced on his own future wife if he were the one who was lavishly rich and powerful. Suguru Getou: The Strongest, Coolest, Sorcerer in History. Suguru snickered at his own thought.

Satoru wasn't dumb.
He'd noticed the subtle glances you and Suguru traded across the table, the inside jokes that slipped out too easily, the muffled giggles drifting from his best friend's room when the door wasn't quite shut. If the two of you were trying to hide it, you were doing an extremely poor job it almost felt like an insult to Satoru.Â
But honestly? He didn't care.

Part V
Part VI: In Love
You woke before your alarm, surprisingly refreshed, as though the day itself was something to look forward to. A soft smile curled your lips the moment someone crossed your mind. You reached for your phone on the nightstand without hesitation.
Suguru Morning, beautiful. I just woke up.
Your smile widened as your fingers flew across the screen in reply.
Suguru... where had he been all your life?

Part IV
V. The White Knight
Suguru had to confess one thing: he actually pitied you at first.
The very first time he saw you standing outside the school gate, hands clasped neatly in front of you, posture perfect, eyes fixed on the path where Satoru would eventually appear, you looked like one of those quiet, devoted stalkers who sometimes lingered too long after class. The kind who collected rumors and blurry photos and convinced themselves it meant something. So when Satoru finally showed up and brushed past you like you were background scenery, Suguru hadn't thought twice about it. He'd even joined in the casual dismissal, figuring Satoru was just being his usual self. The blunt, untouchable, allergic to clingy attention Gojo Satoru.
Then the truth came out.

Part III
IV. Curse
"How was your mission, Satoru?" you asked quietly after taking a small sip of your tea.
Satoru slouched deeper into the café chair across from you, long legs stretched out, one arm draped over the backrest. He stared at the empty spot on the table in boredom.
"It's fine."
"It was actually kind of exciting," Geto corrected from beside him, head propped lazily on one palm, dark eyes glinting with amusement as they settled on you.
Shoko leaned forward slightly, elbows on the table.
"The cursed spirit had the technique to make people infatuated with literally anything. For a few minutes there, Satoru was head-over-heels in love with it."

Part II
III. Effort
You stared down at your latest creation: a neatly arranged bento box sitting on the counter, its compartments filled with care. Fluffy tamagoyaki rolled just right, bite-sized onigiri shaped like little stars (a small, secret touch you hoped might soften him), colorful vegetables cut into delicate flowers, teriyaki chicken glazed golden, and a few cherry tomatoes for brightness. Everything was positioned with the precision your cooking lessons had beaten into you.
One of the many requirements on the endless list to become his perfect wife.

Part 1
II. The Strongest
All his life, Satoru Gojo was destined to be only one thing: the strongest.
Born with the Six Eyes after four centuries of absence, he arrived wrapped in privileges most sorcerers could only dream of. Special. Untouchable. The world bent around him from the moment he opened those brilliant, piercing blue eyes. But privilege carried weight: expectations, responsibilities, the demand to be wise beyond his years. Too young to grasp any of it, he simply reveled in the power, twisting it into amusement whenever boredom crept in.

I. The Perfect Bride
All your life, you were meant to be only one thing: Gojo Satoru's bride.
The role was drilled into you, laid over your childhood like an unnegotiable destiny. Long before you could reliably add numbers or write your own name without smudges and wobbly letters.
"My beautiful baby," your mother would murmur, fingers gently stroking your hair, "you're going to be a perfect bride."
oh, no.
I’m in too deep. He laughed, and I caught myself lost in his eyes.

It was nothing serious with Suguru.
That's what you kept telling yourself before you swiped right on his Tinder profile, since you found the photos he put out there weren't bad. A mirror selfie showing only half of his face, a side-profile picture of him in a restaurant, and the last photo was him cuddling a dog, grinning happily as the dog licked his cheek.
