Just now watching Kingdom performances after I saw some of the yaps about it here. I've seen more groups that are new to me which has been very fun :) I've known about Stray Kids the longest though and I was wondering if you knew why Hyunjin was in their first performance for Miroh but was absent later. I'm guessing this happened around the same time he shaved his head and thought about quitting so he was on hiatus?

as for your question, these are actually very separate events with several years between them! this is a brief history, and in the interest of covering my own ass:
this is for educational purposes only and is my understanding of what happened based on the info that is available online. i do not claim to know these people or know what actually happened. none of this should be treated as fact.
anywayyyy, tea below the cut. this is gonna be broad strokes
2021: kingdom
during this time in the kpop industry, a ton of people were coming forward with allegations of idols having bullied them in school. like their actual former classmates were accusing them of the bullying. hyunjin was one of the idols with bullying allegations against him. there is a lot of info out there that i am not going to get into here, you’ll need to research it on your own and come to your own conclusions. there’s a master google doc that breaks the whole thing down — i don’t have the link, but if you can get your hands on it, i recommend reading that. i wasn’t a fan at the time this all happened, so that doc + my own research are where i’m getting this from.
with kingdom, the bullying allegations got serious traction between the filming of the miroh episode and it airing. as i understand it, some of these allegations had been made several years prior and didn’t get a lot of traction, but then picked up around the time of kingdom bc of the rise in people coming forward about school bullying. when they got more attention, jype put hyunjin on hiatus, and he was absent from kingdom because of it. he also had most of his moments in the one episode he was in edited out, and skz continued the show as 7.
long story short, hyunjin was eventually reinstated after kingdom. there’s a lot more to it other than just a public apology and some jype statements, but i don’t really wanna get into it. i do wanna warn you that there is a lot of misinfo, especially from people trying to claim he didn’t do anything wrong ever. be careful.
hyunjin’s hiatus was for like 6 months. he came back officially in the music video for mixtape: oh, and then released his play with fire dance video and his studio choom artist of the month feature shortly after. he participated in the wolfgang performance during kingdom week after skz won the show. while the official kingdom recording has han singing hyunjin’s parts, the version of wolfgang on noeasy has hyunjin on it.
this topic is very sensitive for a lot of stays and i steer clear of it for that reason, so i apologize if things are more vague than they should be. since you’re not on anon, dm me if you need anything clarified.
2024: buzzcut
fast forward to 2024 and skz is skyrocketing to the top of the world with two longhaired femboys at the helm: felix and hyunjin lmaooo
if you skip ahead a little further to the end of the year, long haired hyunjin is no more! he did a surprise hair change for an end of year performance. he did a blond buzzcut that looked a lot like a kiwi. it was revealed the same time as felix’s black hair and han’s blue hair. i’m pretty sure the reason behind it was that he just wanted a change. no mental health reason as far as we know
2024-2026?: vocal issues
hyunjin was experiencing some issues with his voice, specifically getting it to come out the right way while singing and speaking. he didn’t quite specify what it was, but my guess is maybe some type of voice injury? he goes into it in his most recent 2 kids room episode with bang chan. basically, he was considering leaving the group because he thought he physically would not be able to sing anymore. i don’t think it was an emotional thing of wanting to leave. i think it was a how do i keep doing this if i physically can’t sing? type thing. i think he didn’t want to leave, but felt like he had to if his voice wasn’t ever gonna get better. he’s getting treatment for it now, though, and im pretty sure he’s said he’s doing much better!

i totally get your point and usually i don’t address dating rumors like this, but i did get some crazyyy messages when felix was pictured with chase infiniti at the LV event, and was talking about this rumor to make a point.
there weren’t even dating rumors about him with chase, they just had some pics together, and people were insulting her like crazy under the guise of “protecting him.” but a dating rumor with a member of all paid racism? crickets, and to me, it was worth pointing out.
i also was proven right by the subsequent anti black bullshit that ended up in my inbox shortly after i made that post.
