At First Sight-

Prologue:

Once, many years ago there lived two boys. The boys had held each other tight knowing that the monster was not one they were strong enough to stop. For one boy was born too sickly for the monsters' liking. As such the monster had decreed the younger of the twins  would be sent away on a task. But, this was not a task the youngest could complete and live through. So the boys held each other all through the night crying knowing that the break of the dawn would leave them separated forever more.

When the time came to leave the younger boy held the older boy's hands tight and promised on every star he would try to return. And for once the older boy hoped. He hoped with every bit of his being, and prayed to Gods he didn’t even believe in. But the monster could not be stopped, and was soon victorious in his endeavors of ridding himself of the younger boy. 

The news came to the older boy in a hushed whisper from their mother. Ridden with grief he was forbidden from showing the older boy wept alone through the nights that followed. But what the older boy didn’t know is that his prayers were answered. Not by a God, but by something far more powerful. An Ancient. The Ancient saw the potential of the younger boy, and heard the pure hope from the older boy and decided this would not be the end of their story. 

For three days and nights a great storm of ice and snow ragged as the younger boy fought to survive a change he didn’t understand. All throughout this time the reminder of his promise to his twin kept him alive. Although it seemed much longer to the younger boy, the transformation was soon finished. No longer was he the son of an assassin and the bat, but instead would be known as the child of an ancient. And, not just any Ancient, but the Ancient of Time.

Realizing how fragile the now ancient boy was, the Ancient of Time decided to send him where he could recover before doing the great feats he was now destined for. He bound the boy's immortality and powers to let him grow up while having a childhood. He dropped him off at the doorstep of those he knew would protect the boy before departing. While he would have been happy to raise the child himself, he knew the boy would need the memories he would form here to help him keep hope and keep moving forward when things got hard for him in the future.
