So self-concious that bopping my head to music in front of my sketches is embarrassing

Elitism in the 90s Goth scene.
“We'd show up at a club and the local [Goth] scene kids would be there. They'd get in early because they knew the people putting on the event or whatever. It would be like this taking over. We were on tour going from show to show and these scene kids would take over the backstage and we would be pushed off to the side in the corner. It was this weird thing where we're there to play a show and they didn't want us there. During the Stark Corner tour, back in that day everything was 'snail mail'. He [Mike Vanportfleet] used to get handwritten letters from people. He answered every single letter that he ever got (sometimes he'd send out cassettes). There was a girl that he was writing to a lot and she's like, "I'm going to be at your in-store". So he's at the In-Store, and there's this other guy hanging out with him that's mega Goth. And here's Mike sitting there with his plain white t-shirt and jeans and they're sitting at this table. So, the girl comes up and starts talking to the other guy saying, "Oh my god, I can't believe we're finally meeting. I bought you these vintage postcards" and gushing about this and that. And the guy is like, "I'm sorry but this is Mike". She literally dropped the cards, turned away, and never spoke to him [Mike] again. These are the kinds of things we'd experience. I can remember so many times playing in these uber cool Goth clubs. We would start our music before we went on stage because we had a long intro. We would just stand out in the crowd. I remember in Columbus [Ohio], we were standing in the crowd and people were looking at us like, "who the hell are you? You don't fit here". Then we walked on stage and you physically could see their faces go "Oops!".” — Tara Vanflower of the band Lycia

Actually I'll never forgive Punk Rave and Killstar and fast fashion brands for tricking people into thinking that being goth or punk or emo is expensive. Babygirl the only goth brand names you need to know are Rit, Good Will, Etsy, and Studs and Spikes, we used to shove safety pins through our ears and then they started selling earrings that look like safety pins for 15.99. We used to dye thrifted wedding dresses black and they started selling gothic gowns for 300 bucks. We used to put studs on boots we found in the back of the good will and they started making Demonias. DIY or die wasn't perfect it can be exclusionary to disabled people but whatever the fuck we've got going on right now is so much worse. It's not any more inclusive to the disabled and it is exclusionary to the people who made punk, to the people who made goth, to the people who made emo. If you've got the funds and you don't want to do diy pay someone else to do it for you but please let it be a small artist or a friend not some guy in a suit who's made it his business to gentrify punk. You can turn flats into platforms with flipflops, hotglue and gumption don't let anyone tell you different.
It's crazy how yall will come out here and say "Um, Goth is whatever I say it is :) <3. Goth is a feeling! Goth is a smell! Goth is cheaply made overpriced killstar crap! Goth is a sandwich with Sausalito turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, salt, pepper, vinegar, mayonnaise, and mustard on both sides! Goth can be anything EXCEPT a music-based subculture and if you tell me otherwise? Well, who's the REAL poser?"

Greetings, about time I introduce this blog...
There is no blog.
My purpose lies in seeing what *you* have to share. That's all. Currently this "blog" is far from complete, or even started to begin with. As my uninspiring name "xxinternetvampirexx" suggests, I am putting no effort in getting a crack on it... for now.
Until then, feel free to follow as long as you have absolutely no expectations.
dear vampirefreaks, nothing is stopping you from bringing back the old purpose and look of the site. we are all waiting, if you make it happen you are 100% sure to see a huge ton of people join in. please. please. please please please PLEASE PLEASE PUHHHHH.....LEEEEEEAAAAASE or i will drink your blood
also does anyone else feel like the death of public spaces and the subsequent digitization of all socialization has led to the downfall of subculture and the rise of aesthetic, which has in turn fostered a pervasive feeling of inauthenticity, as if we are, and are surrounded by, posers attempting to infiltrate a subculture that doesn't exist? clap if the death of public spaces and the subsequent digitization of all socialization has led to the downfall of subculture and the rise of aesthetic, which has in turn fostered a pervasive feeling of inauthenticity, as if we are, and are surrounded by, posers attempting to infiltrate a subculture that doesn't exist
“how do i attain this aesthetic” do ya’ll not know how to be yourselves like wtf lol
The way modern social media has reified “aesthetic” as something more than just people looking a certain way seems to have really fucked up a whole lot of people’s perceptions of what self-expression is and how to go about it, making it no longer just a matter of doing and being who you want but a performative presentation of the semi-fabricated self-as-object for consumption by some hypothetical audience.
Subculture has always been a thing but it began as a means of expressing and indicating shared ideas and interests, whereas now it seems commodified to the point where all any modern subcultures are expressing is what products and internet trends participants prefer to consume, and that’s not identity so much as marketing.
